Thanks ladies, you've given me a few ideas I think I know what I'm going to do, I may do something for his mum and dad too, ( his dad may not make it to April) Sad

mama sending you hugs, try to stay positive, you have both come this far, your little man has hung in there against all the odds, which just goes to show how determined he is x

tattooedapril87 · 24/11/2012 18:25

i have my scan next week and we are going to get the lady to write the sexes in a Christmas card and we will open it together on xmas morning as our present... so im very pro that idea!

i like the idea mentioned that give her two cards done and tell her to get rid of the wrong one. that way you can give dh the choice, and if he says yes you'll find out same time as him, and if he says no pretend to respect his decision and open it in secret!

steph2412 · 24/11/2012 19:52

Hi all been mega busy so not posted. got everything crossed for you mama hope u can hang on a bit longer. ive got my scan on tues and am so nervous feel like when i know everything is ok i can start to enjoy been pregnant. bump really showing now but only 1lb of weight put on since gettin pregnant hope all is well x

EssexWelsh · 24/11/2012 19:56

Oh my god, little baba just kicking like crazy and called DP over and he actually felt it! What a feeling, just amazing!

Mama, sorry to be happy following your upset, you have been through so much, just another hurdle but nothing you can't handle, strong lady!

mama sorry you didn't get good news at your scan. Hope your little baby can hang on in there for a few more weeks

giddy if I were you I'd ask the sonographer to write the sex down, but then ask your DH if he wants to know before you open it together. I think your reasons for wanting to know are pretty strong ones, and it would be lovely for your fil to know if he's getting a gs or a gd in case he's not here to meet them

toobreathless I only bought 0-3 with DS but he turned out to be long and skinny, and we ended up having to buy newborn size because the bigger stuff kept falling off him! He was in it for about 8wks despite being much heavier than the sizing would suggest by that stage. This baby seems to be similarly proportioned from the scan measurements so I have got some newborn stuff for her. Mothercare and Sainsburys stuff seems to be quite generously proportioned.

Giddypants · 24/11/2012 20:35

I think I have a plan, DH said he wants to be surprised by me so i explained in that case I need to know first Wink

So I'm thinking of the cake idea with a blue or pink sponge inside the icing, I work Sundays so DH takes DS to his parents house, I thought that they could cut the cake and all find out together, or is that a shit idea?

For DS I bought 0-3 months and newborn, as he was predicted to be big, when he arrived he was 4lb 7oz and the newborn stuff was too big, ended up buying some prem clothes which he out grew quite quickly!

Missmuffet28 · 25/11/2012 07:43

The cake idea is lovely giddy and its well .... cake ! nom nom! but if your going to go to all that trouble why not do it for yourself too! Unless I'm getting wrong end of the stick you will be at work when all the cake cutting and surprise thing is going on? I would feel sad for you :) x

Mama1980 · 25/11/2012 08:35

Your messages mean a lot, honestly, Thank you so much for listening. I'm 21+6 today. The consultant thoight it was most likely blood but if it was swallowed in the beginning of the pregnancy that's ok but the fact it's developed more prominently recently suggests it has been swallowed recently which is more dangerous and could be a sign of foetal distress or infection. I think anyway, my mind is a mess. But I was told to prepare for the fact babe could be sick which dramatically reduces his odds.
Love the cake idea giddy :)

Mama1980 · 25/11/2012 08:37

Sorry didnt mean to be so negative. They are still optimistic but preparing me also for other scenarios. We haven't come this far for nothing!!!

HavingALittleFaithBaby · 25/11/2012 09:26

Hang in there Mama! You and your baby have come so far. Only a couple of weeks to hold on for now! Praying its best case scenario for you both :)

Is anyone else getting lots of pins and needles? I understand in my hands from sleeping position but I'm getting lots in my feet too which I find a bit odd

SneezySnatcher · 25/11/2012 13:57

mama I'm thinking of you.

usernamegoeshere · 25/11/2012 15:41

Mama, am thinking of you, only 2 weeks after all this time I really hope goes well!

LikeCandy · 25/11/2012 16:06

My Mum just predicted that I will more than likely be 'the size of a house' before baby is born.
I haven't seen her for a month or so, I know I am much bigger than I was last time I saw her but I didn't think I was that big!! Sad

JaquelineHyde · 25/11/2012 16:32

mama and mama'sbump you both hang on in there. Only a few more weeks and you will have hit the magic 24 that seemed so, so far away at the start of this journey.

When will you be scanned again mama? Have the dcs been able to get in to see you again?

All quiet here, finally feeling more in control of my uni work and I can see the finishing line for the Christmas break in 3 weeks time and I appear to have shaken off the debilitating tiredness I was feeling although that might have something to do with having been in bed at 7.30pm for the last 2 evenings Grin

Still counting down the days to my scan (Dec 6th) and hoping that the abnormalities they picked up at 12 weeks will have miraculously vanished Smile

EmpressMatilda · 25/11/2012 19:57

Teapig · 25/11/2012 22:31

Thinking of you mama and sending you lots of positive thoughts. You and bump have come so far, stay strong. Have everything crossed for you.

faith I sometimes get pins and needles in my feet too. I quite often get very uncomfortable legs and knees. I find I need to stretch much more and sometimes when I get up my knees almost creak and I feel like an old, old woman.

olympicvibes · 26/11/2012 00:17

Judt wanted to share my good news with you that my dcan went v well and baby sees healthy. Was in bed for 6 weeks with awful cramps, exhaustion and bleeding from haematoma and worry was draining so im very relieved. Good luck to everyone counting days down to scans and stay strong if you are worrying.
Having a little boy!

Getting used to a new phone-typos galore!

aufaniae · 26/11/2012 00:42

Great news olympicvibes :)
Sorry to hear you've had a rough time. Are you feeling better now?

Got my scan tomorrow. DP has gone to bed early as feeling really sick. Unless he manages a remarkable recovery I doubt he'll be coming to the scan tomorrow. Sad

I really want to take DS (4yo) I know he'd be so excited! The hospital says not to bring kids to scans though. But my old hospital allowed it! I wonder what would happen if I just turned up with him, they wouldn't actually turn me away - would they?! Is it bad to do that? I know he'd be well-behaved.

20 + something (lost track a bit!)

EssexWelsh · 26/11/2012 06:57

Sorry for early morning tmi message but just went to the toilet this morning and wiped there was a massive amount of jelly like discharge, about the 2 inches square. Googled-of course, and everything is pointing to it being the mucous plug, should I do anything or could it just be normal discharge? Help!

growyourown77 · 26/11/2012 07:47

Hi Essex, why don't you give your midwife a call, i'm sure she'll be able to reassure you. I had a big blog (not that big tho) the other week and have had (sorry if TMI) yellow, but non-smelly/itchy mucus for the last two weeks and it's all apparently normal. Best to ask her if it's large and you're worried tho. THat's what they are there for.
