Well. I have just spent an unproductive hour trying to find something in my wardrobe that doesn't make me look vast. I'm going to a gig tomorrow (Muse) and wanted to look halfway decent but it's not going to happen.

My size ten stuff sort of fits but it hangs off my bump and makes me look massively pregnant. Maternity stuff looks really 'mumsy' (not bad on a normal day but I'd hoped to look trendy tomorrow). Gah! I was nowhere near this big last time. DH thinks I look lovely but I can't believe how much my body has changed already !

itsaruddygame · 31/10/2012 20:25

Growyourown - that sounds horrendous - hope it does not reoccur. It sounds like you are doing well on the exercise front though. I have been riding a couple of times a week but felt too tired and nauseous to do anything else until the last couple of weeks or so. Now time is ticking on I have decided it is time to hang up my boots until after the baby so have been swimming and have signed up for pregnancy Pilates which I start next sat. I am going to miss riding like crazy though!!

itsaruddygame · 31/10/2012 20:30

Sneezy - am sure you look foxier than you know! It is a nightmare on the clothes front though - I have not liked a lot of the maternity clothes I have seen but luckily still have a few things that fit on the top and some maternity skinny jeans that look Okish (but fall down due to lack of bump!). Enjoy your concert [hsmile]

LoobyLou33 · 31/10/2012 20:33

Wow...finally caught up! Busy busy.
mama hope you're doing OK, exciting that you've found out what you're having and that the kids are excited too. Keep hanging in there little bean!

growyourown that sounds unpleasant, I hope you don't get it again. Catheters are not fun!

Is anyone else ridiculously thirsty? I do have a mild cold but I don't think it's just that.

I think I had my best night's sleep in about 2 months last night, still didn't totally sleep through but actually woke up feeling like I had slept. I'm still crazy tired of an evening...but the nausea has subsided YIPEE. So.. not blooming but emerging from the gloom! I also managed a decent walk on Monday, so hopefully will be able to get a tad fitter and walk more again. Before, 15 mins was leaving me feeling faint.

Had 16 week MW on Monday and heard the heartbeat too Smile (I had to ask her) ...I'm sure last time they offered to listen much sooner than 25 weeks, must be a policy change. She found it straight away and there was a kick too.

OOh knitting, tried learning 2 years ago and have a half finished (and badly botched!) scarf upstairs. Feel guilty as MIL bought me a gorgeous baby clothes pattern book when I was getting into knitting and I never made a thing. Praps I'll be inspired by you MN knitters! It would be fun, though DS had so many beautiful blankets there's no need for me to knit another one for DC2.

Trishstar · 31/10/2012 23:08

Definitely agree with the 2 tier bump! I can't wait for the top tier to merge too! xxx

EssexWelsh · 31/10/2012 23:21

Anyone felt kicks yet? I was positive I just felt 3 little kicks, felt very different to any other windy pops type activity. But wanted up check with other more experienced mums, is it normal to feel 3 little kicks then nothing, or is it like multiple flutters as I have read feels like a butterfly inside?? Confused as to what I am feeling??

usernamegoeshere · 31/10/2012 23:26

I think I felt kicks on Monday, was exactly like tiny bubbles popping & I don't think I mistook it for windy pops since it wasn't a feeling I had ever had before.

That being said, I have zero experience & I didn't feel anything since!!

bunnygirl80 · 31/10/2012 23:43

essex and username I found that early movements do feel just like a little bubble popping. I got some odd flutters for a few weeks before, but now it is distinct little pops. I also get lots of general squirming and pushing, DS was a wriggler and this one seems to be too.

growyourown hope you get your bladder sorted out soon

Nuttyfilly · 31/10/2012 23:56

Hi everyone! I'm feeling a tad fed up, I really ache at the minute I'm sure it wasn't this bad last time, I think I have felt movement especially at night.
I really want to knit something but remember both my grandmas teaching me and my mum and all three giving up as a bad job lol.
Growyourown I hope you feel better very soon!
I like the 2 tier bump lol dp says I look like the mitchelin man, the cheek! I asked if he was growing a very large sympathy bump!
Hope everyone is feeling ok and at some stage we all start to bloom!

Bambino29 · 01/11/2012 00:34

Thanks for the ideas edinfirst and growyourown. Will be ordering Erin O'Brien DVD ASAP! Really keen to do some yoga but all the classes in my area seem to be held during working hours which is a pain.

growyourown - sounds horrid - really hope they figure it out and it's sorted quickly. Fingers crossed that once the baby has risen a bit it'll resolve itself.

Had 16 week app today which went fine except turns out the hospital have lost my notes (the ones that take hours to fill in at booking-in appointment!) and had forgotten to post my blood type results to the midwives. Not feeling hugely reassured by it all. Did get to hear the hb though which was amazing!

MumofWombat · 01/11/2012 01:29

And I'll admit that not only am I a knitter, but also a quilter. I've been feeling so rough and exhausted I've not done anything for a month or so, but you have inspired me to get my act together.
I knitted a blue and yellow striped cardigan (yep, bunnygirl - West Coast Eagles colours...) when I was pregnant for DS. And if he had been a she, she would have worn it as well! This time as we are going to find out what we are having (Nov 15th eek! Can't wait!) I would like to knit something special again, I've got a pattern in mind for a girl, need to find one for a boy.
I've got a pattern for a baby quilt, it's gorgeous, with cute Australian animals on it including a Kookaburra - which is what we have nicknamed bump. Might spend some time looking at knitting patterns, wool, and fabric online... Happy days!

Glad to hear I'm not the only one with a two-tier bump! At least I know which bump is baby and which is chocolate!

Teapig · 01/11/2012 08:15

You poor thing growyourown, that sounds like a horrible experience. Hope all is sorted now and your bladder stays in action.

We had lots of trick or treaters last night but I still managed to scoff loads of sweets. I didn't want sproglet to miss out on halloween treats but I may have over done it, feeling sickly this morning.

Crazytictac · 01/11/2012 08:26

Glad all your 16 week appointments are going well. I tried calling my midwife yest to arrange mine as Im 17 + 0 tomorrow and was given several different numbers. Was transferred to the antenatal unit where the receptionist told me I didn't need to see the midwife. Somebody overheard her and told her she was wrong so I was bounced back to my GP surgery. Useless! Midwife did call back late afternoon to tell me that she had my 20 week scan appointment which had been misfiled so she would get that out to me and as I was feeling ok, no need to see her Hmm

Have been reading with interest about the knitting. Never done any but wouldn't mind trying something new.....might be badgering you for tips over the coming weeks

Anybody else (aside from the blocked nose!) have sharp pains when they cough or sneeze? I know it's ok as had them with my DS but just wondering how common it is

growyourown77 · 01/11/2012 08:52

Thanks for your kind thoughts ladies. GP going to refer to urology for investgations. Attempting back to work today so let's hope it all keeps working Ok. I'm now peeing every your, so its gone the other way. :)

crazy I've had those sharp pains when sneezing, apparently its the round ligaments at the front being pulled. Really painful for a second tho. Sounds like you've been mucked about on your appointments. If you want to see her still then you should get an appt. Go to the head/chief/lead midwife for you area to get it sorted.

Here's to a slightly more glowy November for us all.

NuttyFilly if you think knitting is beyond you, give crochet a try. It's so much easier than knitting. My daughter couldn't quite get the hang of knitting but has taken to crochet like a duck to water.

FlaminNoraImPregnantPanda · 01/11/2012 09:30

Crazytictac I've had a bad cough pretty much the whole time I've been pregnant (though the nausea, headaches etc were a virus too). The pain is excruciating. It's not too bad if I tighten up my abdominal muscles before coughing, but when I get taken by surprise I want to cry.

Nuttyfilly · 01/11/2012 09:37

Thank you flamingnora I might just give that a go! I remember having ago a few years ago

Missmuffet28 · 01/11/2012 09:54

crazy I posted a while back about sneezing pains! it's horrible I try my hardest not to sneeze now!

Since announcing on Facebook I have had a few friends pm me to say they are due in April wonder if any of them are you lol!! Thought it was nice tho now I have people I know that wont be bored with chatting baby crap all the time!!

16+4 :)

Missmuffet28 · 01/11/2012 10:00

Oh and essex I'm pretty sure I have had fluttering going on and the odd pop the midwife did ask me but I haven't said anything to anyone else and played it down to her as I'm not 100% but I'm 99% it was that, I remember from DS those feelings and wondering if it could be that but nothing becomes certain in my mind until those proper kicks which midwife said will be heading my way in next few weeks so I will wait until then so I can maybe share it with dp :)

Crazytictac · 01/11/2012 12:12

Thanks ladies. Nice to know it's not just me! It seems uncommon amongst my friends and family. The delights of pregnancy!

growyourown thanks for the advice too re. Midwife

steph2412 · 01/11/2012 12:21

Hi all, ive just got backfrom my 16 week appointment. Got to hear the babies heartbeat midwife found it first time was so reassuring! Just waiting for my 20week scan on 27th november to make sure babes is developing ok then going pram shopping! I also have extra scans at 28 and 34 weeks and midwife appointmens every 2 weeks after 28 weeks, so i will be seeing and hearing a lot from baby. Oh course im really happy about all this. Have already brought a cot as it was in the sale and fell in love with it. Hope everyone is well just wondering what sortof prams everyone is going for? Sorry for the mememe post but good to write it all down! 16+2

trying2bpos · 01/11/2012 12:52

Feeling sorry for myself:
had cold for 2 weeks now- will it ever go?
DS cough has come back, bad night and more medicine to take!
I need a good nights sleep
getting shafted at work- again!

Sorry for winge I just feel like crying all the time which I know is totally pathetic as what I'm going through is nothing compared to others on here.

I just wish I could talk to my mum (she died just before I got pg with DS)

Missmuffet28 · 01/11/2012 14:16

Hey trying sorry your feeling down my advice would be to have a cry I often don't stop myself now sometimes it gets rid of that knot you get at the back of your throat and makes you feel a little better :)
I have been ill this week too and feeling really sorry for myself, that won't make you feel better but just so you know your not alone :)

Big hugs (((( \o/ )))))

trying2bpos · 01/11/2012 15:01

Thanks missmuffet a friend came in to take me for coffee (well hot chocolate actually) just after I posted and she copped for it all! I feel a bit better now for letting it all out but not sure I look better Hmm.
Sorry you're feeling down too.
I've downloaded some knitting patterns from kellestar and might give those a try tonight to try and cheer myself up a bit or give myself a distraction!
