Is crying and shaking a sign of labour? I was in the hospital with DS2 for his eye appointment and I suddenly started crying and had to sit down in the middle of the corridor. A lady in a wheelchair came over to help me ffs so I must have been a wreck. Afterwards I felt really shaky. I've come home and had something to eat but still feel a bit unstable as if I'm in shock or something. I'm seeing the midwife at two but I'm just wondering what's going on. I can get low blood pressure but I usually just need to sit down, it's not as bad as that. Baby is still kicking away so I guess he's okay and the midwife will check me out in a couple of hours.

ooow - lush! finding vouchers sounds great!

TiAAAAARGHo · 26/10/2012 12:12

Iheart - I got fitted for some at 37.5 weeks (at which point I discovered that I've ballooned to a 34H - eek). the fitting was on the basis that my ribcage will shrink as soon as the baby exits (sends up yet another hopeful prayer) and I was warned that they will not last long due to the amount of change that will inevitably happen - so whatever you do don't buy lots (I only got two and I was essentially forced into buying some by the fact that none of my existing underwear fits)

Peaky1 · 26/10/2012 12:12

Fatima - Debenhams was where I bought the Miriam Stoppard bra from (online as my local store don't measure preggo ladies and don't stock maternity/nursing bras there [hhmm] )! I don't work for them, I promise, lol.

Iheartpasties · 26/10/2012 12:14

When buying online ho wdo you figure out what size you are peaky?

Peaky1 · 26/10/2012 12:17

Oh Stunt that sounds awful! I'm hoping that it was a hormonal surge maybe and nothing more. That's great that you're seeing the midwife so soon too so I'm sure you'll talk it through with him/her. I think a lot of us have had random sudden mudslides in moods that have taken us by surprise, I know I have anyway in the past week or two.

Let us know how you get on with the midwife and I hope everything has settled down for you again Thanks

Peaky1 · 26/10/2012 12:18

Pasties - I got measured in Mothercare and just took a risk with the idea that hopefully the sizing would be similar between the brands. I was lucky [hgrin]

Iheartpasties · 26/10/2012 12:22

oh shoot, I cross posted with a few people then! Sorry!

stunt I am glad you are going to see a midwife coz that sounds quite horrid, perhaps a blood sugar thing?

I just (atm) cant be arsed to go and get measured!

FatimaLovesBread · 26/10/2012 12:31

I don't like mothercare, the one near me only stocked 34 backs and bigger.
peaky the maternity ones I have are the Miriam Stoppard ones so I was going to look at the nursing ones in the same range.
I'm in a 32f at the moment, but on the last rung so I thought I'd try a 32ff/g? I'll probably just get one, or a twin pack for now

StuntNun · 26/10/2012 12:34

Pass we have two Tripp Trapp chairs (from before there were knockoffs!) and while they are brilliant for older kids because of the adjustability and footrest, we weren't impressed with them as a babyseat because the child really needs to be able to sit upright completely unaided whereas other highchairs recline a bit so you can put them in when they're still a bit wobbly and off balance. So have a good look at the chair to see how well it supports a baby.

Re: nursing bras I bought some of those extender things (classy) to give myself a bit of flexibility until the boobage settles down post-birth.

I'm feeling a bit better now after lunch, cup of tea and a Twik (that's a single finger Twix) but quite drained. My DS1 had a meltdown this morning (that's an uber-tantrum which is quite something in a 9yo) then there was an accident on the motorway and we were 45 minutes late for DS2's eye appointment so no wonder I'm having the heeby jeebies.

applepieinthesky · 26/10/2012 12:54

stunt we have a surge in hormones right at the end of pregnancy so hopefully that's all it is. Glad you are feeling a bit better now x

kirrinIsland · 26/10/2012 13:00

tits i'd be staging a sit in if I were you. Hope you have more luck with a different consultant.

pass in my exclusively reading crime thriller days I liked Dennis LeHane (don't bother with Shutter Island though), Harlan Coben, Linwood Barclay, and Simon Kernick. There's also a guy that does Goidelic courtroom/legal dramas but I can't for the life of me remember his name - somebody Lincoln I think? andrew?

I had some twinges last night and got my hopes up thinking something might be happening but it all came to nothing, now I'm just back to feeling heavy and achy!

Stunt that sounds very unpleasant. Perhaps a combination of stress and low bp or blood sugar?

kirrinIsland · 26/10/2012 13:02

Goidelic = good - bloody iPad!

applepieinthesky · 26/10/2012 13:08

As long as baby is not 12 days late today is my last payday before he's here so buying some last minute bits and pieces. Got to sort out bras, mattress for the crib and bidding on a travel cot on eBay.

MissMummy1 · 26/10/2012 13:34

Pass Ian Rankin is my neighbour! I'm not a big crime/thriller reader though so don't really have any suggestions.

Feeling slightly better after a warm bath. Wondering if this is the return of morning sickness, as fruit pastilles are the ONLY thing I can keep down. Exactly the same as ms... Hmm Having a lazy day in front of the tv though.

Tits sounds like you're being treated horrifically. No advice, but I'd be getting militant by now!

I've only ever been professionally measured once for a bra and it was way off. Have always done it myself since with a tape measure. Have a look online for how to do it.

Titsalinabumsquash · 26/10/2012 13:35

I'm having an ultra sound and they'll talk about a sweep? tomorrow as the consultant is worried about my mobility Hmm
A step closer I guess.

Sophiathesnowfairy · 26/10/2012 13:37

Glad you are feeling better stunt let us know what the midwife says xx

I absolutely lurve my Mirian Stoppard one which has done two pregnancies, and, I was thinking today, is beginning to look a bit many, luckily it is black Wink. I too got mine from Debenhams.

I had to have a bacon shrine for lunch. On warbutons toasted bread. What bliss. Offset with a massive glass of innocent fruit juice and an apple.

peaky be keen to know how the James Erbert goes I looked at that the other day and didn't buy.

Sophiathesnowfairy · 26/10/2012 13:37

*a bit manky

Chunkychicken · 26/10/2012 13:38

re: nursing bras, there is the option of the Emma Jane Next Generation bra (online at various places including NCT shop) for those not blessed with F cup+ boobs as it changes in size with you and could get you through the milk coming in stage. I mainly expanded in my first pg and got massive with milk, before settling back to slightly bigger than pre-pg within a week or two. To be honest, by the time the 1 or 2 bras you buy now are no longer useful, you will have a better idea of whether BF is for you and how much your boobs fluctuate during the day.

Sophiathesnowfairy · 26/10/2012 13:38

titsgreat news, tHat's movement. Xx

Chunkychicken · 26/10/2012 13:39

a step in the right direction then Tits at least...

WaitingForMe · 26/10/2012 13:56

I've been in nursing bras for ages. I figured I'd need a variety of sizes and rather than buy loads of non-wired ones and later loads on non-wired nursing ones I'd just start with the latter.

SwissArmyWife · 26/10/2012 14:00

tits what a horrible situation, if I were you I'd start throwing things demanding an induction.

shanelle I am so sorry you are going through this. As others have said, I would consider telling your parents, as you need all the support you can get. There is nothing to be ashamed of. x

Well, I'm 38 weeks today, and have officially resigned myself to the fact that nothing is going to happen for a while yet. I'm just going to get on with things and try not to hope that every twinge is labour, plus this is the last few weeks of it just being me and DD, so I'm going to concentrate on spending quality time with her before everything is turned upside down!

My mum keeps saying "when are you going to have him then?!" Which doesn't help!
I do dislike the last few weeks of pregnancy!

horseylady · 26/10/2012 14:07

That was my thought pass. I don't know if he wants to physically buy something? Will have that sort of practical discussion with him though!!

Tits hope you're ok?!

I got two nursing bras from m&s. I might start wearing them soon as the bigger bras I bought are loose now :( bump dropping.

Can't remember who said crying and shaking but that happened to me Tuesday night. Went on for 40minutes. I'm still showing no signs of impending labour lol. Was horrific at the time and I felt awful for a good24 hours. Hope you're ok.

Izzybuzzybuzzybees · 26/10/2012 14:10

I second the Emma Jane ones as there really is no way of predicting boob size post milk coming in. These and carriwell stretch comfort bras are great til you know what your body is going to do. I used the carriwell ones last time til milk came in then got the Miriam Stoppard twin pack from debenhams. This time around I got the Emma Jane as they were cheaper and they are just as good if not better than carriwell ones. The site more4mums has 10% discount with code MM15. I posted about that threads ago!! I also have a couple of bravado ones but I'm not that impressed. They will do for hospital. You don't want to be spending loads on bras and find breastfeeding isn't for you.

tits how far along are you? A sweep sounds promising. More so than wheelchair and commode! I have a wheelchair that we hired from red cross, I intend to go to appointment on Tuesday in it rather than crutches as I had to hobble various places this week and was a nightmare!
