Good luck tits mobility team sounds intruiging and this consultant may be more amiable for an induction. I can't remember how many weeks etc you are??

Sorry there are so many people feeling rough. I was up a million times last night, if I wasn't peeing it was DD up. I feel like mince today, coming down with a cold and my cough is back. Not sure if they will still give me the jag I'm booked for this morning?!?

pikz · 26/10/2012 09:15

Izzy if its flu jab they gave me that and whopping cough when I had a stinking cold.

Titsalinabumsquash · 26/10/2012 09:25

Oh ffs, mobility team have just given me a wheelchair and suggested a commode. Talk about way to rob someone of their dignity :( I'm 25 years ok ffs and DP is doing so much at home already he should be emptying a commode for me!! Angry

Lets hope
Consultant will be a bit more help. I'm so cross now. Angry

TheDetective · 26/10/2012 09:28

Just tell them your house isnt big enough to accommodate a commode and it would be a hazard for your other children...

TheDetective · 26/10/2012 09:37

I reserve my most scathing looks for such occasions Tits. Personally I'd just refuse to go home and have done so .

McDonalds are a shower of shite. Just got a breakfast for the first time this pregnancy as totally went off them! Asked for a bacon roll with extra bacon. Got a bacon roll with less bacon than normal! Took it back and they chucked another fucking piece of bacon on the by now cold roll. It's full of fat and a total waste of space. I don't eat the fat on bacon!

Just took it back for a 2nd time and demanded my money back Hmm

Now I'm hungry! Got to go to my midwife appt now as well :(

Iheartpasties · 26/10/2012 09:45

I thought you was veggie detective? :)

Passmethecrisps · 26/10/2012 09:51

Hallo.

How bad is it that when I red about GT getting a catheter I though "oh, I fancy that"? Just lying here weeing in a bag rather than having to roll my body out of bed every 20 minutes. Maybe I need a bed pan.

I'm another one with wishful thinking on the 'signs of labour' front. Felt crap all day yesterday - sign of labour, surely? Smile

Sorry you are poorly MM1. I am another one who reckons you should let everyone run around after you for a while. Sounds like it would make a change.

We were looking at high chairs as well horsey after a lovely friend said she would like to buy something specific. We reckon we will go for a wooden one which slides up against the table. It's in John Lewis and is a cheaper version of the Tripp Trapp. It's about £50. Might be rubbish though.

Still no word from VQ. She will be enjoying lovely baby cuddles I'm sure.

Nice one on last day of work lilliana. I'm bet this has been a long term. How far along are you? It feels like you have been working forever.

I have been sleeping so little (at night time - plenty during the day) that I am hurtling through books at a rate of knots. I was wondering if people had any book suggestions? At the moment my reading is almost exclusively crime writing - Ian rankin, Jo Nesbo, Stuart McBride and Val McDermid - that sort of thing. I am happy to deviate but it would need to be relatively easy (no literary greats at the moment - mince for brains here couldn't cope). Answers on a postcard please!

Sophiathesnowfairy · 26/10/2012 09:53

But who could ever give up a bacon roll?

TheDetective · 26/10/2012 09:59

I became veggie when I was 9. When I got to about 24 I think, I started trying chicken as my diet was a bit rubbish and restricted. I'll now eat some chicken, and bacon sometimes too. However I'm quite fussy with the preparation of it! I still won't eat any other meat or fish. I cook with veggie stuff a lot too, but by eating chicken I have given DP and DS a bit more of an option at home! I was quite enjoying the chicken til I got pregnant! Was one of the things I went off! I've barely touched it since being pregnant!

So basically I'm a fussy bugger and it's just easier to say you are veggie when people ask because people would probably assume I ate all meat. When really I eat very little!

applepieinthesky · 26/10/2012 10:00

tits I think it's appalling how you have been treated. Fingers crossed the consultant will be better. When are you seeing him/her?

I was lucky enough to be given a lovely highchair from someone so that's one less thing I have to buy. Have also been given clothes right up to 2-3 years.

Feeling a bit more rational this morning than I was last night. I need to focus on getting baby here safely first and getting to know him. Sometimes I just panic and everything overwhelms me.

Passmethecrisps · 26/10/2012 10:02

Does anyone else fancy flash mobbing Tits's hospital? I just do not get this at all. Hold firm tits!

Hmm, it's been a while since I had a macdonald's breakfast. They always are underwhelming though detective. Did you go off meat? Like pasties I got the impression you were veggie.

I was a total carnivore pre-preggers but I have slightly gone off meat. Previously, unless there was something dead on my plate it wasn't a proper meal.

Need to go in to town today to pick up and order from next. Decided to save myself the £3.50 postage by having it sent to the store - now I can't be bothered going to get it. I have a wedding next Thursday when I will be 39+1 and it is 200 miles away. Seemed a good idea at the time!

Have fun at your wedding detective do we get pics of you looking über glam?

Titsalinabumsquash · 26/10/2012 10:08

I'm seeing a consultant before I leave 'at some point today' so could be anytime really I just hope it's one of 2 nice consultants and not the elderly gent who I've seen before and still believes women should put up and shut up when it comes to pregnancy and its various complications. also he looks like a weasel

horseylady · 26/10/2012 10:11

I'll look into the whole high chair thing. Cost isnt generally a major issue for him. Though it would need to be right if that makes sense?! Hence me thinking he could do savings things!! Will def get dh to suggest it to him though.

I've never eaten bacon!!! I've never eaten lamb either!! Or steak. A lot of veggies eat bacon though lol!! I happily cook meat!!

Have fun at the wedding detective!! Pics are a must!!

Iheartpasties · 26/10/2012 10:17

oh yes enjoy the wedding, what is the weather doing?

Elizadoesdolittle · 26/10/2012 10:22

Hi all, just checking in quickly as I'm off to BIL wedding later so won't get a chance to post till at least Sunday night. Weddings tomorrow but its at least an hour and a half drive from us so staying at hotel tonight and tomorrow. Am looking forward to it but I've had very little sleep over the past couple of nights and feel very heavy and achey. Am praying I don't go into labour this weekend. Am taking all my gear as better to be safe than sorry but really really hope baby stays put. Am sure it will, am just being a bit paranoid. At least if I do there will be lots of family and friends around to look after DD!

Sorry haven't had time to catch up with thread properly. Don't think I've missed any BA's but there may be some by the time I post again. Smile have a good weekend everyone.

Passmethecrisps · 26/10/2012 10:24

Nah horsey don't go for a high chair. There is a difference between "does baby need anything" "yes please. A cellular blanket would be lovely" and "does baby need anything" "not really but a small trust fund would be a good start to make up for being a but of a selfish arse"

Chunkychicken · 26/10/2012 10:24

Bought a good book from Sainsburys Entertainment website the other day (or more accurately 3). I bought a Baby Book (baby's first years record book - based on Guess How Much I Love You? children's book, because DD had that one and its lovely. Not too detailed, but covers all the milestones iyswim), a book for DD called 'My New Baby' talking about how baby is different to her/toddlers etc and a book for me 'The Second Baby Survival Guide'. Haven't read it all yet obviously, but would recommend it for those about to have #2, especially if you were a read-everything-going type of first time Mum.

Had to take my rings off last night for bed, but managed to get them back on this morning. I suppose at 36+wks that's to be expected :(

Not impressed with Community MW team at the mo. I told my MW at 16wks I had considered her suggestion of a HB and was there anything that I needed to do. She gave me a number to call, which I did (eventually) which was meant to give me the chance to attend info sessions, but the people I spoke to knew nothing about it!! Then on Tuesday I reminded my MW about the HB and she said she would organise someone to call and arrange the pack to be delivered and a home visit. I phoned today because I have heard nothing. I appreciate that MMW are busy etc but surely they can appreciate I am 37wks on Monday and I don't want a hospital birth just because they can't get their organisational arse in gear!! They are going to call me back or something, but my MW is on holiday soon and although I don't anticipate baby's arrival in the next few days (and before Monday it would be a hospital job anyway), it would be nice to think I could get the relaxed birth I want. Afterall, DD was born after only 10hrs of contractions (maybe 8 of which were regular) so if these BH are doing anything, and if 2nd labours are usually shorter, I don't want to be trying to get hold of a MW at the last minute iyswim!!!

Detective I am always disappointed with McDonalds breakfasts. They promise so much yet deliver so little.

Tits that is pathetic. I think you need to start getting assertive. You have been kept in with a potentially serious and debilitating headache, you have barely moved for weeks because of the SPD and your mood is very, very low. Plus they should know you have other children to consider. If the NHS has to offer CS on the grounds of Mother's request/mental health issues etc, then surely they should be looking at induction of labour under your circumstance??!!!

Izzy as long as you are not poorly enough to need antibiotics, I think they let you have the jab. They are not live vaccines anyway, so shouldn't make you ill. I have my WC this afternoon.

MM let them look after you! Feel better soon.

My nail technician friend is coming over tonight to give me a mini-manicure so my hands and nails look good for the wedding tomorrow. At least one thing will... [hgrin]

After that epic post, better go... DD was sat next to me playing with play-doh but has got bored, so I had better go before she wrecks the house!!

Titsalinabumsquash · 26/10/2012 10:51

I swear if one more person suggests taking paracetamol for the pain I might do some bodily harm. Angry
I hate being treated like an imbecile, I've seen an SHO who is going to discuss pain relief and then suggests I go home to see if the wheelchair helps until labour happens normally.
It's bull it really is, I think when this is all over one way or another PALS need a long pone call/letter and anyone else who I can complain too. It's ridiculous that this is allowed.

Sophiathesnowfairy · 26/10/2012 11:18

I am up for mobbing titshospital. Imagine the stir we would cause!

Titsalinabumsquash · 26/10/2012 11:45

Ah we'll of you're all up for a trek to good old West Sussex feel free to storm the ward!
It seems so ridiculous that they're talking if providing home
Help care for me, commode and wheelchair, transport .... You'd think the most sensible and cheaper option for the Nhs would be induction, it's not like I haven't had 2 easy straight forward deliveries before (1 was an induction) sigh

applepieinthesky · 26/10/2012 11:47

How many weeks are youtits? Are you full term yet? If so I don't understand why induction is not an option.

FatimaLovesBread · 26/10/2012 11:52

Back from my 36 week appointment. I'm fine to go to the birth centre I want, yay! Baby's head is engaged and ready to go, also LOA so all good.

Is 36 weeks too early to buy nursing bras? I was going to buy them a cup size bigger and get them fitted on the largest back size so there's room for rib shrinkage. I've read 38 weeks, but i don't know if i'll be arsed to go bra shopping at 38 weeks, and I kind of hope the baby will be nearly on it's way then (doubtful).

I want to do something this afternoon/evening. Been cooped up all week so i'm trying to convince DH to either take me to the Trafford Centre or for a nice walk. I bet he suggests sitting at home doing nothing

Iheartpasties · 26/10/2012 12:00

fatima I'm not sure about getting fitted for nursing bra's, the one i have got is way too small and I'm just ignoring it at the moment! The cost is putting me off getting measured! I know I should get some new ones, but maybe after the baby is born. Dunno!?

FatimaLovesBread · 26/10/2012 12:04

I know the cost's not good, especially when you need massive hammocks Grin
But we found £50 of debenhams vouchers when I was tidying yesterday that we assumed lost so I might spend them

Peaky1 · 26/10/2012 12:10

I bought 2 nursing bras at 38 weeks. I got measured at Mothercare, bought one of their cheaper ones and then bought a Miriam Stoppard one online. The lady in Mothercare advised me to only buy one or two before the birth as you never know what your boobs/bump will be doing with regards to changing shape. My friend who gave birth last November said she had changed bra size no less than SEVEN times [hshock]! I tell you what though, try and prize me away from my Miriam Stoppard bra, it's so comfy and supports waaaay better than the shitty maternity bras I've been wearing.

Pass I bought a book called The Secret of Crickley Hall by James Herbert from Sainsburys yesterday for £3.99. I've not started reading it yet but it's a ghostly thriller apparently and has been used for a BBC drama series. I hadn't heard of it before. I may nestle in and start reading it today as it is a bit cold today and I may try sitting under the duvet with the book and a cuppa rather than turn the heating on just yet...tight arse
