I think the list of things you can't eat has got shorter and shorter.. Sushi not even banned. Can't remember who was worried about mayo, but it's only the homemade unpasturised stuff you should avoid - pretty uncommon I'm thinking... I personally would eat cured duck out of a pack, but maybe not if curing myself. I am planning smoked salmon for x-mas. I usually have with Hollindaise, but that will be out unless I scramble it so I think cream cheese. I know thats out, but there can't be any bugs in a pack of Philidelphia right??? It's probably half plastic..

I'm going to the Good Food Show this weekend.. woop woop, can you tell I like food :)

Work has got mega busy and I am now seeming to have a 6 hour round trip for the next week, but at least it's only for a week... will be sleeping on the train!

Rancer I had loads of cramps etc around the end of 6 week mark.. all seems well for me.

chocolateteabag · 29/11/2012 19:27

I love smoked salmon - will not be passing it up over Christmas especially if I have to make do with one glass of fizz a day
I was so much more clued up and careful with DS, this time around it's all I can do to remember to take Folic acid everyday
I know some things are just recommendations and others are big no nos - does anyone know a good link or do you know them well enough to list?

ArkadyRose · 29/11/2012 19:41

I just had a very disquieting realisation (whilst doing the washing up, of all things). It's exactly 14 years since I found I was 6 weeks pregnant with the one I lost at 10 weeks (Christmas Eve, 1996). And I'm now 6 weeks pregnant. I'll be 10 weeks at Christmas.

Confused
Cheeseandbread · 29/11/2012 20:22

Feeling shattered after a busy day at school and Pilates after. Guava I think I remember you saying you are a teacher too. Are you mid flow with Christmas plays too? I feel for you being sick and having to deal with a class of 30 kids... I do like Christmas play time though- nice to see the kids shine.

Wifey good luck with the scan tomorrow! Arkady I hope your DD is ok.

Boobs feeling sore and a bit bloated but nothing else yet. Saw the doctor on Tuesday to fill in some forms and now have to wait for the midwife to get in touch... Might call them if I don't hear from them soon. Really hoping for a scan before Christmas but know it is doubtful... The doctor did say they did the first scan at around 10 weeks though (fingers crossed!)

Beaditsback · 29/11/2012 21:01

Hello, ok if I hop on this bus?
I got a bfp 2 weeks ago so think my due date would be mid July sometime. We were trying for a year so I'm scared about getting stressed out (busy Christmas work time for me) and risking anything.... Need 'chill' vibes.

Today was my first day of feeling sick all day long and it's driven me insane so hope it does one and stays away. Also got lots of cramping that I don't remember with Ds 2 years ago but he was emcs so a whole different story for my body this time I guess. Cannot wait to be a little further along and closer to a scan date Grin

I look about 5months already but I'm guessing its just ridiculous bloating......? Not been able to hide it from 2 friends and my sister due to the size. Seems insane at only 6-7 weeks.

I was quite taken with this, sat with my pregnacare box like a nut comparing the lists.

Guavasforbreakfast · 29/11/2012 21:03

Hi cheese, yep I'm a teacher too, luckily my class do the Easter production instead of a Xmas one. Teaching is NOT a job for the first trimester at the best of times, can't imagine how much worse it would be if I was managing the play too, good luck! Ended up telling my TA so she could cover for me if I have to run out...

emblosion · 29/11/2012 21:12

Can we really have smoked salmon? Oh happy, happy day! Grin

Been Xmas shopping today - knackered isn't the word! But came home to find my scan/booking in date has arrived - 27th December, exciting!

Need to catch up a bit with the thread but hope everyone is ok & hello and welcome to the new ladies!

RancerDoo · 29/11/2012 21:59

FSA (not the financial services agency!) website is good on that food stuff.
And Philadelphia is fine. I doubt many bacteria could survive that level of processing!

orangebubbles · 29/11/2012 22:54

Mightbe I'm 10.30am I think thunder may be Friday too, or perhaps Thursday, and rancer, it's a busy scan day!

Be thinking of you wifey

Welcome bead I am disgustingly bloated. I weigh exactly the same as 2 months ago but am 2 dress sizes up! I hate it! Ugh!

marimama · 30/11/2012 02:28

guavas & cheese i am a teacher, too. In my third year teaching formally, and it's totally the most exhausting job i've ever had! I teach 14-16 yr-olds (115 of them), which is fun, but i am so tired i am way behind on correcting. I fell asleep at 7pm tonight putting my DS to bed!

rancer do you think pully uterus pains are worse this time because of your caesarians? I had one with DS...hmmm

For my daily boob whinge: they still hurt. And i keep thinking that my body is going back into milk-machine-mode. I nursed DS for nearly 2 yrs. not sure i'm ready for superboob life again. They had gone back to being small and dry and relaxed. Now it's madness again already!

Thundercatz · 30/11/2012 07:38

Have been quietly catch up reading and no time to post!
But hi to all the newbies and the old guard!
Is comforting that so much of what everyone else is experiencing is exactly what I'm going through. Had my first actual morning sickness on Tuesday (just before my booking in appt!) gross as I haven't thrown up in years and that only when hungover! Brushing my teeth is also making me gag something chronic. But for me it really is morning sickness and I feel much better during the day so I count myself lucky compared to some of you poor things (for now)!
orange my scan is now on Sunday - have been switching it about - cannot wait!!!
Anyone's first scan today? If so, good luck!
TGIF - exhausted is an understatement
Smile

dinkystinky · 30/11/2012 09:25

Esme - lucky you (and your DC)being Scandi. I love the food. Last night was great fun - I managed to have virgin cocktails and could have the cured fish (was cod, not salmon) which was raw but cure and so fine from my 10 mins research on my phone before I got there - and the cured duck which was cured then cooked in the oven (and lovely!). And I had the yummy rice pudding with warm cherries at the end. Only things I couldnt have was the booze (which there was a lot of) and the chicken liver pate (which I'm not a big fan of at the best of times).

Good luck for today Wifey and good luck for sunday Thundercatz (great name by the way!). Arkady - hope the fact that you're going along a similar timeline to your first pregnancy isnt a source of worry for you - keep telling yourself that 10 years have passed. Am a great believer in hypnobirthing/positive thinking - helped me so much with my pregnancy with DS2 after a pretty traumatic birth experience for DS1 (first timers - please dont let this scare you! Not all births are traumatic - I was just unlucky).

Rancerdoo - we have a volvo xc90 (v old) which I reckon should be able to fit 3 car seats in the back - DS1 will be 7 when this baby arrives and into the integrated booster seat in the middle (which I dont think he'll be happy about but hey ho, that's the joy of siblings for you).

flyingsprocket · 30/11/2012 09:31

Hi everyone! Can I hop on board? Got my BFP last week after 9 months of trying for our first. So exciting!!!

I've got sore boobs & they're getting bigger. Had a bit of back ache last week which is unusual for me. And yesterday I ha the most violent reaction to a cough sweet, thought I was going to vommit! I couldn't even be next to the girl who was eating them. Weird. Other than that I feel great Smile

Anyone else here in Sussex? My EDD according o the NHS website is July 31st, I'm the very last passenger on this bus!

ArkadyRose · 30/11/2012 09:43

dinkystinky That one wasn't my first pregnancy but my third - first mc though. I think the first two lulled me into a false sense of security. I've now had 3 kids and 3 mc - so there's the feeling this one could go either way, and I could really do without this coincidence of timing. Hypnobirthing is really not for me though. I'm not afraid of giving birth; I just want this first trimester to be safely out of the way.

dinkystinky · 30/11/2012 10:05

Sorry ArkadyRose - I was quickly scanning through the various messages and missed that. I didnt do hypnobirthing for DS2 to get me through the birth - it was more to help me put the ghosts of the past to rest if you see what I mean - and I've put the principles to use in other parts of my life where I thought I felt previous bad cycles repeating themselves (eg close family members being very ill). I do understand the fear and worry you're feeling - I've had a few early miscarriages in the past year while trying for DC3. I was trying (albeit not very effectively) to try to reassure you that the past may not necessarily repeat itself.

Guavasforbreakfast · 30/11/2012 11:17

Woohoo just saw the midwife and she got the dr to prescribe me some anti-emetics. I feel like a weight's been lifted off my shoulders. I'm only to use them sparingly on particularly bad days so I can keep something down, but I'm just so happy that she took me seriously. She was so nice it nearly made me cry again :-/

paolocee · 30/11/2012 11:44

g/f is 39, TTC for 5 years. This year alone we've had two failed IVF attempts and an early miscarriage/CP. POAS 7 weeks ago after 3rd IVF attempt and got a BFP. Well, 7 BFPs (we'd bought A LOT of sticks).

Went for 7 week scan yesterday. And, bloody hell, twins. TWINS! Overwhelmed but cautiously happy. Due date 18/7 but I'm guessing that will be earlier. We've just moved to Sweden so unsure how they approach it there.

shelley72 · 30/11/2012 11:45

Just checking back, so glad to find i'm not the only insane one on DC3! Its going to be ok though right? i mean lots of people have three and are fine arent they?! yes rancerdoo we have a scenic which has 3 isofix points across the back - DH made sure of that when we bought the car when DC2 was 8 wks old, now there's forward planning! still very few symptoms which is starting to worry me a little bit now, had flu jab today though i think i couldhave got away with not having one - the nurse didnt seem too keen, and wasnt aware of the latest guidance!
good luck for all scans today..

shelley72 · 30/11/2012 11:47

paolocee TWINS !!!! congratulations!

photographerlady · 30/11/2012 11:55

Hey ladies and welcome to the newbies. Well I am 7.1 weeks and my morning sickness is still constant waves of feeling awful. Booking appointment and early scan next week lets see if I can manage a meal more than bananas and crackers til then. It's rough :(

paolocee · 30/11/2012 11:58

Thanks shelley72. I'm a bit of an old codger and never thought I'd be a father. My g/f had pretty much given up too. I just want the next 8 months to be over. Mind you, I'm guessing I should sleeping as much as possible before the madness begins.....

esme80 · 30/11/2012 12:30

paolocee congrats on twins, wow! I was wondering the other day if there would be some twins on this thread..
I am swedish but had my ds here in the uk, dh is british, so dont have first hand experience of that aspect of the health service. But speaking to friends it seems quite similar to my own experiences here. Which part of the country are you in? Gosh all this talk of sweden and scandi food is making me a bit homesick...

paolocee · 30/11/2012 12:41

Hej hej, esme80.

We're about an hour north of Umeå, up in the wilderness. We're having moose meatballs with lingonberry jelly for lunch - they're Donna's current craving. I love them too. Where are you from?

SchroSawMummyRidingSantaClaus · 30/11/2012 13:09

Wow, twins! Shock :o Congrats!

Stop talking about food! I am craving lingonberry soda so badly and the only place to get it is about 30 mins from me. :(
