Thank you MightBeMad...I'm so worried after my last scan didn't go well (mmc) & I'm even more worried as I won't have my DH with me. Sad

dinkystinky · 29/11/2012 11:58

Oh Wifey - am sending you a huge virtual hug. I hope the scan tomorrow brings you reassurance and puts your mind to rest. Do you have a good friend you can let in on the secret/family member who can come with you?

ArkadyRose · 29/11/2012 12:08

Having a bit of a week. I started spotting on Sunday; only old brown blood, but still something I could do without. It's continued on and off this week. Haven't said anything to my OH as he'd only worry and there's nothing he could do about it anyway. Then yesterday DD2 came a cropper in her dance class - fell badly when she fluffed a jump landing and wrenched her knee. I had to go all the way down to Croydon to fetch her (we live in Walthamstow) as she's at the Brit School. Thankfully I still have a pair of crutches from when I got hit by a car last year in October. We spent 4 hours in Whipps Cross A&E before being told it wasn't broken or locked so she could go home & take ibuprofen. He also said she could take diclofenac but wouldn't give her a prescription for it. Angry

And this morning I was still feeling exhausted so I asked OH to take DD3 to school. She whined that she didn't feel well so he opted to work from home & keep her off school. Of course now she's complaining she's bored and he's asked me to distract her for him. Shock I've told him that's what he gets for letting a 5-year-old bunk off school!

SchroSawMummyRidingSantaClaus · 29/11/2012 12:26

Guavas No, you should be able to get anti-emetics for any kind of continual sickness. I get them every time I have a stomach bug and had them from start to end with my last pg, if you are losing weight, please ask for them. Same goes for anyone else on here really struggling with sickness.

If literally nothing is staying down you can get the anti-emetic injection.

Arkady That sounds like a really crap day. :(

Wifey Hope you are okay. x

wifey6 · 29/11/2012 12:33

schro...thank you.
dinky..thank you for the much needed hug.
My mil is hopefully taking me, but is yet to confirm. I'm back to feeling so vulnerable & helpless as I know there's nothing I can do.
I just have to pray that baby is doing ok & it's just ligament/stretchy pains.

dinkystinky · 29/11/2012 12:38

Arkady - sorry you had such a rubbish day yesterday. Did they do a MRI scan on her knee? If not, and if the swelling doesnt go down/it doesnt feel right, make sure you follow it up with your GP and a physio and see an orthopaedic consultant as it may be ligament damage. I fell down the stairs in jan carrying ds2 and wrenched my left knee - A&E said all was fine but it turned out to be a torn ligament that needed an op to repair it. Ice, ibuprofen (make sure she takes lots of food) and elevation are good ideas.

MightBeMad · 29/11/2012 13:21

Oh ark that sounds like a crap day. Get well soon to you dd. remid me, do you have a scan booked? If not, could ou get the epu to scan you with the spotting and hopefully put your mind at rest?

Wifey, you have my sympathy on dreading bad scans. I find the sonographers are usually quite nice if you tell them first thing why you are nervous. I've had a couple say 'in which case let's get on and do the scan and then we can do the paperwork/deal with other issues after we've seen a hb and put your mind at rest'.

Guavasforbreakfast · 29/11/2012 13:26

Thanks schro will definitely ask mw tomorrow.

Sounds rubbish arkady, it makes me realise I've got it easy with it being my first, I can wallow in bed feeling sorry for myself without interruption - don't know how you all do it with little ones already!

wifey fingers crossed for tomorrow, hope you're ok.

wifey6 · 29/11/2012 13:27

That's a good idea MightBeMad..l think I will explain beforehand.
Thankfully my mil has just confirmed she can take me so I won't be alone.

Guavasforbreakfast · 29/11/2012 13:29

Oh, and thanks dinky for the reassurance that there is light somewhere along the tunnel. Am wishing for January to be here for the first time ever... Hope it starts to fade by Christmas so I can at least enjoy the holiday a little. Will be 11 weeks then I think.

wifey6 · 29/11/2012 13:33

Guavas..thank you. Just want tomorrow to be here already.
All you kind ladies are really helping..thank you

MrsWildermac · 29/11/2012 13:36

Hi all, haven't been on here for a while...life seems to be so very busy and any spare time has been spent in bed! Thankfully symptoms so far haven't been to bad...mild nausea which is dealt with my eating and sheer exhaustion!

Bit worried today as have cramping...it's mild and I don't think it's on one side more than another, but still enough to worry me - I'm hoping it's just stretching/ligament pain. Am 7+0 today.

So sorry all those who have had losses or are having difficult times :(

Thinkingof4 · 29/11/2012 14:35

Good luck with your scan wifey it's good you're not going on your own.
arkady I hope your spotting has settled and dd feels better soon. Sounds stressful

I'm another one shocked at the commutes some of you are doing! Must be so tiring, I find it hard enough with my 20 min drive!!
Well I'm 9 weeks today and feeling pretty fine apart from general knackeredness! I'm shocked that I've not been sick having had 3 prev pg where I puked every day, at least I know baby is growing or I'd be really paranoid by now. Long may it continue but I'll probably end up with terrible heartburn later on to make up for it!!

orangebubbles · 29/11/2012 14:40

mightbe I'm also having a scan next Friday! Eeeek! Exciting and nervous!

MightBeMad · 29/11/2012 15:44

Orange mine's at 3pm, what about yours?

ArkadyRose · 29/11/2012 16:47

I'm seeing my MW for my booking-in appointment on Monday, so I'll mention the spotting then; I think she's intending to refer me for an early scan anyway as I've already had 3 MCs so they've put me down as high risk for another. It's not red, so I don't think it's something to unduly worry about - I had the same at about this stage with DD3 as well.

DD2 went into school today to see the physiotherapist (the Brit School have a full sports/dance physio team) who helped her to straighten the knee and has given her some exercises to do, and I've booked a GP appointment for tomorrow so she can get a referral for an MRI. She and I are both prone to knee problems anyway due to hypermobility.

Guava I think it comes down to practice! DD1 was 3 when I had DD2. That said, there was a 13-year gap between DD2 and DD3, and there'll be a 6-year gap between DD3 and this one - it's not so bad when the others are already in school.

SchroSawMummyRidingSantaClaus · 29/11/2012 16:51

Arkady I hope your scan goes well and all will be fine and I will look forward to seeing your posts. I have EDS-Hypermobility type and am terrifed of being pg again. Went to physio today and could barely do the exercises as I kept losing balance, getting sore very quickly.

shelley72 · 29/11/2012 16:55

thank you for letting me join! good luck for tomorrow wifey - i can completely understand how nervous you are feeling as you know. fingers crossed it will go ok for you.

all these scans already - i'm feeling very left out Envy!

SchroSawMummyRidingSantaClaus · 29/11/2012 16:58

Shelley I haven't had one yet, I don't even know how far along I am! I though I was about weeksish, seen GP and didn't know when my last period was but I had told her over the phone when it was at the end of it as I was on the nuvaring, was a really long bleed that lasted nearly 2 weeks and I apparently told her on the 22nd Sep at the end of it! Shock

SchroSawMummyRidingSantaClaus · 29/11/2012 16:58

Thought I was about 6 weekish *

dinkystinky · 29/11/2012 17:45

Am off out to a Scandinavian Christmas cookery course tonight that DH kindly bought me for my birthday - before we foud out I'm expecting. On the menu is scandi cocktails with berries, smokd salmon starter, cured duck something or other, roast pork and apples and rice pudding with cherry sauce. I'm plannign on cooking and eating lost of the last two things as cant have the other ones!

Wifey6 - try and watch a favourite romcom or do something else to keep yourself busy tonight. Good luck for tomorrow.

esme80 · 29/11/2012 18:33

Oohh dinky as a scandi myself Im a bit jealous! Not that I could eat any of it though... Actually you can eat smoked salmon now acc to nhs i think.
Booked in now, had the lovely midwife I had when pg with ds, so that was nice! Should get scan through before christmas.

wifey6 · 29/11/2012 18:47

Thank you everyone. Truly means a lot & makes me feel less alone x

RancerDoo · 29/11/2012 19:12

Evening all, just back from another thrilling day at the office, during which I staved of the sickness by eating bacon frazzles. Have decided not to wory about that sodding scan any more. I know when I ovulated because feeling ovulation is my special talent! But then I remembered, when I had Dd1 they told me she was due 6 days after she should have been based on the scan. I got all cross with them and told them I know exactly when I conceived (which bonk and everthing) but the medical folks all just looked at me like I was a cretin. So maybe this one is the same. Have booked a private scan where they might actually explain the results to me next Friday, so aside from the fact this poor baby will be seriously overexposed, I should end up feeling a bit more chilled.

So the next worry (!!!) is all the aches I am having. I am putting them down to having had 2 caesareans before - I think all my innards are stuck together (blee).

Welcome Shelley72. I'm also expecting DC3. Holy shit I must be crazy... Out ofninterest, do you have a car that fits three kids? And if so, what is it?

Good luck for tomorrow, Wifey. I know how nerve wracking these things can be and I really hope it is all good news for you.

Dinky - am now craving cured duck. Even if I manage to find some am I allowed to eat it??

RancerDoo · 29/11/2012 19:14

Oh, you can deffo eat smoked salmon.
The list of things you can't eat is short and seems largely to consist of parma ham ( which I didnt realise until I was six months into my first pregnancy, subsisting on a diet of parma ham and beetroot).
