OP posts:

I told my mum straight away last time but this time I'm going to wait til 12 weeks I think. Mostly because she'll fret, as my son is still so young. I don't want the lecture or for her to worry unless I'm as sure as I can be that everything is ok first...

Saying that, I'll probably crack sooner! ;)

photographerlady · 09/11/2012 07:00

I was thinking about it and yes I think I will be telling my mom after my appointment next Thursday :) She's three thousand miles away in the states but has helped us so much with fertility treatment.

Hai1988 · 09/11/2012 08:22

Morning all :)

Thanks everyomr for the resssurance about the jabs, dunno why im so nervous this time, it cud be the chemical pregnacy i had in sept, but i didnt think atm it affected me at all, but now im pg im so scared of losing it :(

cutandstick we have told are parents, we called them as soon as we got bfp. But i.think we did it as we felt bad from.keeping it from them last time and some found out from other peoplle (we were very young)

Also told my best friend but we are so close, i have no siblings so shes like a sister and mil has told dhs siblings.so thought it was only right.
Plus she new we were ttc and i see her everyday so she was bound suss it anyway.

And yes the days and weeks are dragging

CottonSock · 09/11/2012 08:38

Hi all, and thanks for you kind messages.
I am prob going to tell parents tonight as away with them for 5 days and I never refuse a drink... I also told my boss this week, well when I thought it was all over and had to get someone to step in for far-away meeting at the last minute. Should have lied probably, but we are close and he knows about previous MS.

Booked in for flu jab. Midwife mentioned wooping cough, but does that come later on??

Could not sleep at all last night, and felt sick!

CottonSock · 09/11/2012 08:39

opps, not very good an acromyns either 'and he knows about previous MC's.

Our thread is growing nicely :)

esme80 · 09/11/2012 10:28

Great news cotton!

We have told DH parents and brothers as spent last weekend with them and it became obvious. As cotton, I never refuse a drink! Now feel like I should tell my mum, but at same time want to wait till see a heartbeat. If I do private scan and all is well then that would only be 2 weeks from now as am 6+3.

Going to book for flu jab next week. I read that whooping cough was recommended for week 28-38, is that wrong?

photographerlady · 09/11/2012 10:34

I have a foolish question. How did they calculate what week you are. All the sites say last period but that would make me 4 weeks when I ovulated 2.2 weeks ago.

Purplemonster · 09/11/2012 11:31

We told our parents straight away and I told the two girls I work really closely with at work. They know me really well and there's no way I could have kept it from them and if it doesn't work out, it would be them I'd need support from anyway so I thought what the hell (reckless Grin)

Purplemonster · 09/11/2012 11:33

Photographerlady, I'm confused about dating too, I'm waiting to see how the midwife dates me as I haven't HAD a period for them to date from (came off the pill and got pregnant straight away, oops) so I'm not sure how they're going to work it out. There's bound to be someone more informed around here who can explain it to us!

Hai1988 · 09/11/2012 13:26

Mw's and gps and so on date your pregnancy from the first day of ur last af, so even if ur baby is only 2 weeks old tjwy date you at 4 weeks! (I dont get it either)

purple i dont no what they will do with you, maybe take a guess and then you will find out exactly at ur dating scan.

Just eaten and so bloated here, is 5 weeks to early for maternity jeans ! :o

elliejjtiny · 09/11/2012 13:40

The only people who know are DH and anyone who reads this thread. My friend guessed but I told her I wasn't. Not sure if she believed me though. We are going to wait until after the dating scan to tell our immediate families and then announce on FB etc after the anomaly scan. I'm expecting a lecture too emblosion.

Do we just get the normal flu jab or is there a special one for pregnant women? I know DS2 and DS3 get a lower dose one as they are children.

purple they will probably guess by counting back 4 weeks from your positive test or use the day you came off the pill. Then the dating scan will give you a more accurate result.

Tashtastic · 09/11/2012 14:30

We've told out parents and my sister. Also a good friend cos she happened to call to tell me she is pregnant and I blurted it out! I suspect sil and bil will know soon when we speak to them. I am not very good at keeping secrets!

Whooping cough is at 28-32 weeks. Meant to be so that the new borns have some antibodies when they are born to cover them til the 8 week jabs. I saw my GP today so I am now clued up (sort of). No difference in dose of flu jab as far as I'm aware.

Have a good weekend! Now must do some work and stop daydreaming about babies!

wishiwasonholiday · 09/11/2012 15:00

I've got a bfp today and am due on 19th July with dc3.

Had no symptoms really apart from being sick and lack of other normal symptoms.

Shenanagins · 09/11/2012 15:33

I would only tell if I really had to, like I was throwing up all the time but so far just feel sick, very tired and bloated - I like it being this special little secret between the two of us.

Hope I get my scan before Christmas though and then I can start to tell everyone.

MysteriousNameChange · 09/11/2012 16:37

My parents are visiting tomorrow and expecting me to drink lots of wine so I think I'm going to have to tell them. The scan will probably come at a weird point in the Christmas holidays anyway so I might as well tell them early. If it all goes wrong, I'd want them to know, if only so they don't keep dropping hints about wanting another grandchild!

If they weren't visiting I'd try to keep it secret for longer, mind.

Hai1988 · 09/11/2012 16:46

Omg my belly has inflated so much!! Just took a pick of my "bump" and put it on this community thingy on my app on my phone and asked ppl how fa along they think i am and one person has said 20weeks!!! This is not good

wifey6 · 09/11/2012 16:47

We have only told our mums for support & no one else. Hoping to get a good scan before Xmas so we can share with everyone. Smile

Hai1988 · 09/11/2012 17:23

Wifey do u have the baby bump app ? Cus if not there is some1 with the same name as u on there :)

Cutandstick · 09/11/2012 18:50

Thank you re have you told yet. Having had a rubbish end of week at work I think I'm going to tell for support angle. Got my scan date on Wednesday: 17th December. Yay!! Very glad it's the weekend! I hope you all get some rest - I seem to have substituted carbs for alcohol Blush Ah well, here goes! X

wifey6 · 09/11/2012 18:57

No I haven't got an app Hmm
That's odd Hmm

llamaface · 09/11/2012 19:19

Can I join? Just got my BFP Grin (after a bit of an unsure test earlier). Due 20th July, first pregnancy. Not sure whether to be excited or terrified! or just concentrate on not throwing up

Thundercatz · 09/11/2012 20:38

Congrats llama ! I know the feeling!

We've just told parents and siblings but can't wait to share further!
Hoping to keep schtum till 12 week scan but I have a feeling we might squeak to one or two after 8 week scan..
Had my gp appt today.. Nothing to say just asked me re choice of hospital and gave me Emma diary.. Also took my bp and checked my weight.

Has anyone else had a really fast and loud heartbeat? It was the symptom that made me do my test two days before I intended to and I still get it now.. Like that feeling when you drink too much strong coffee? Also more out of breath climbing stairs/ fast walking than I would normally be. Doc said it's normal esp if you are v tired.. Which I am!

If we're all due in July apparently most of our babies are about the size of a sesame seed at the mo! Smile

Thundercatz · 09/11/2012 20:40

Yay for scan date cut ! How many weeks will you be on the 17th?

esme80 · 10/11/2012 13:02

Thunder that is exactly how I feel, with the loud heart and breathlessness. When I was pg with DS I had this but much later. Midwife said it was because ofthe extra blood you have in your body while pg, but isnt that a bit early to be reason now?

Thundercatz · 10/11/2012 13:28

Hi esme according to dr google it's really common v early on.. Though I agree it doesn't really make sense to me either that a teeny sesame seed could cause this.. But I guess your body is being through its paces right from the outset hence the extreme exhaustion!

Speaking of which I CANNOT get myself off the sofa today. So lethargic and frustrated at myself as there's lots I want to do but I seem to have turned into an inanimate object! Feels like such a waste of a weekend...
