Sorry for the not very imaginative title. Noticed old thread was full and couldn't find a new one.

Beaver I only got my pastie on Friday, a 3 week wait! And it was rather rotten, I think I'm cured. Grin

seven77 · 05/11/2012 12:22

beaver that's awful!

wee good luck, sure it'll be fine though.

weeblueberry · 05/11/2012 12:24

Thanks everyone. I'll post once I've been and hopefully let you know all is well. Smile

peardrop2 · 05/11/2012 12:27

Omg beaver!

Good luck wee! Let us know how it goes!

I'm 11+6 today. Scan in two days and feeling sick to the stomach about it! All totally normal feelings from what I gather from reading everyone else's stories but you still worry don't you :-/

LittleBairn · 05/11/2012 12:45

pear I'm 11+6 today too. Tomorrow will be a big mile stone for us but I think I need the scan before I'll feel out of the danger zone.
Still no news on when my scan will be, getting impatient.

beaver33 · 05/11/2012 12:52

pear it's SO normal that it would almost be odd if you weren't concerned. I was so convinced that there would be something from the scan to worry about that when the sonographer told us it was all "very good news" I was kinda stunned! I think it's natural to prepare for the worst so you're ready if there is a problem.

You and bub will be fine and it's a wonderful moment. Good luck.

Also good luck to wee and anyone else having scans this week.

FlaminNoraImPregnantPanda · 05/11/2012 13:18

pear I cried when I had my scan. I was completely convinced there would be nothing there and that it was all a figment of my imagination. Can't believe I'm 14 weeks today.

peardrop2 · 05/11/2012 13:24

Aww thanks ladies for your reasurrance. Lovely to hear you were anxious to but had happy endings!

Guess what I had for lunch...yep sausage roll! The power of this thread :-/

Wirrawoo · 05/11/2012 13:43

Hi ladies! So the hospital has just called me to apologise for the sonographer on Saturday and have offered me another scan with a consultant later today where they will do more measurements as well. They also rushed my Screening test results through so have it all there. Seems that the midwife I saw must have really gone out of her way to fix things for us. What a star. Anyway, maybe this is to reassure me or maybe it's to talk about high risks, but I'm properly bricking it now! Will see what they say and then call the Fetal Medicine Clinic.
It's our anniversary today, so at least we will have a nice dinner to go out to afterwards and debrief. Wish me (and bean) luck!

Ellypoo · 05/11/2012 13:52

Got results back this morning for the Downs test - they have said low risk, so really pleased about that.

Can't believe that beavers - that's awful, urgh!

13+6 today - still knackered, but I don't think it's quite as bad as it was - I felt knackered all the way through last time though, so not overly hopeful for much of a respite this time either!

Good luck to all with scans this week!

Have been thinking about work/maternity leave - forward planning!! Think I'll finish either5th or 12th April, as the baby will probably come by ELCS on either 17th or 24th April. Has anyone else thought what they'll do yet?

Wirrawoo · 05/11/2012 13:52

Ooh sorry for some reason all today's posts hadn't loaded when I wrote that.
beaver omg!!
10 sorry to hear you've had a rough time with panic attacks. I had a few some years ago in a time of extreme stress and they're not fun. The feeling overwhelmed thing seems to a real pregnancy symptom... Have been really crowded out in warm enclosed rooms with lots of people in the first trimester. The spidey sense of smell and lightheadedness makes it all a bit much at times. Hope your 2nd trimester will calm things down a bit.

Have been in maternity jeans for about 3 weeks now. The bump is definitely starting to show, although to the rest of the world I probably just look like I've been getting into the pies too much!

Ellypoo I've been stressing over what to do about parental leave. The system here in Sweden is so generous that I'm flumoxed as to what to do for the best. Basically we both get 60 days each (full pay for husband, £17 per day for me as I don't work) plus a further 360 days at the same rate which we can split between us however we like.

So my thinking is that husband gets the whole lot as I'll be off anyway. Husband's thinking is that I get the whole lot as then we'll have extra money coming in to pay for baby needs.

kittykatskumkwat · 05/11/2012 14:09

Good luck wirrawoo sounds like they are just making up for your poor treatment rather then rushing you for bad news, fx you get a good experience this time x

peardrop2 · 05/11/2012 14:39

Yeah best of luck they treat you well wirr better then last time!!

peardrop2 · 05/11/2012 14:44

Elly I was thinking about working up to Easter hols which is the end of March. I'll get 5 weeks before baby arrived (plus two weeks for holiday). I just can't imagine working any later then that!

RTchoke · 05/11/2012 16:55

Good luck Wirra, I hope your appointment gives you reassurance.

Wow flaming, that's really generous! DH is self-employed so unfortunately he gets bugger all, so will book a week or so off around the birth, and then hopefully will be able to condense his clients a bit so he can come home in the middle of the day/finish early etc. We've got all our family around us anyway so won't be short of helpers!!

Am considering having 7 months off from April - Nov, then that gives me time to get back into it before the year end, although probably won't go back full time to begin with.

Great news wirra, I hope it's ok and that the consultant is nice - sounds like the MW really did do her best to make it nicer for you!! I hope that it gives you the reassurance you need. And lovely to get an extra scan too!!

peardrop2 · 05/11/2012 17:05

10 my friends take 5 weeks and they say it goes really quickly! Does this mean you might not return ;-)

peardrop2 · 05/11/2012 17:22

Does anyone know (in the UK) whether you get a discount (good deals) when buying from Excel baby fair in London? Or any other big baby shows across the country? Is it worth going to for discounts or is it more a place to get ideas?

I had 2 weeks A/L followed by starting maternity leave at 37 weeks and then DS was 2 weeks late. So 7 weeks off before a baby appeared. It was great. I was sleeping shite (not the great bit), had SPD and was enormous. There is no way I could have coped with work. Plus I worked nights. I did not care that I'd had so long off before he was born.

I'm going back a week today Sad. The last 6 weeks of being off have been annual leave but in total I've had over a year off. I would love to be able to have the same this time round. I work for the NHS so fairly good maternity benefits but I'm reducing my hours slightly on my return next week and only working evenings instead of nights so I don't know if we'll be able to afford as much time off this time. I hope so though. I'll at least make it to December and not have to work Christmas next year though! Dreading working it this year Sad.

So yes 10 I've thought about it! Just a little bit Grin.

Hope things have gone ok wirra

TerracottaPie · 05/11/2012 18:06

So I've still not had my sausage roll or pasty. This is not good. And those that did have one; that's all well and good for you but spare a thought for me before you go boasting. It's just mean. Grin

Plus I now also want a foot long sub. Chicken on wheat, cheese and toasted, with all the salad options. Oh and mayo. I'm not obsessing, honest Grin.

13+6
