Dp is at work and he's really annoying me still Hmm sorry to rant but best I do it here than to him....last night I asked him to get the sausages out the freezer and instead of getting the pack on the top shelf he managed to dig around and find two different types that have been there for too long and get them out instead. I just found his towel on the floor from last night and there was a worm on the kitchen floor :-/ which is his fault because he opened the back door and put his football stuff out (left it all out in the rain haha) and he had toast last night without considering the fact we might need some bread for lunch and he left the marmite and butter out all night which just pisses me off Angry

honeymum I understand where your DH is coming from. I had a meltdown just after I moved last month and ended up going to the hospital as I wasn?t feeling much movement from LO. Thankfully everything is fine but I was stressing myself out so much about it that I probably didn?t help. All easier said than done though I know. Cold water always seems to work for me if I?ve not felt any movement for a while. No chance of that at the moment though, it feels like there is a permanent zumba class going on in my belly! If only I had the energy to join in? Grin

MyDaydream · 17/10/2012 10:12

Sorry to hear all of you who are ill and struggling to sleep. I've had that feeling in the back of my nose and throat that tells me I'm going to get poorly but it's not progressed yet. To be honest it's been like that for over a week so I'd quite like it to decide whether to flourish into a proper cold or just go away. I hate itchy throat.
pidj good luck in your confrontation.
spotty that sounds like something my DP would do especially butter not back in the fridge, I can completely understand your anger. It's a family trait here though, I'm just crossing my fingers I can instil some common sense into DS when he's older. Whenever DP has the day off he'll spend it in a cleaning up mood that just leaves me with twice as much to do the next day clearing away the mess his cleaning causes. Yesterday he unpacked some boxes, left half the contents on the kitchen counter and the rest went back in the garage. Or should I say the useful stuff went back in the garage the crap went on the counter. He got pissed off when I told him he'd make a fabulous hoarder, but since he still has his first wallet with every bank, ID and loyally card he's ever owned in it and refuses to throw it away because of the sentimental value I don't think he can argue too hard! (Turns out I needed a rant too!) although that didn't annoy me as much as him agreeing to watch football on +1 so I could watch the Bake Off final then him still insisting on watching the will they/won't they play commentary even though he knew within minutes it had been postponed.
I have my 28/31 week midwife appointment and I don't want to go. I'm just feeling lazy.

SpottyTeacakes · 17/10/2012 10:22

I'm just in the foulest of moods now! Just found a nappy at the bottom of the stairs that he had thrown down last night! Opened dd's curtains to find her window open even though I specifically asked if he had closed it! Wow MyDaydream would he even notice if you threw it all away when he wasn't looking?! My hospital appointment isn't until 1:30 thinking of popping into Sainsbury's for lunch first with dd seeing as we have no bread....

MyDaydream · 17/10/2012 11:05

spotty he gets it out occasionally and looks through it Hmm. He's hidden it away in his computer room now I think so I won't find it. I have a ruthless mother when it comes to clearing out who would help me tidy my room with a great system of if I have to think if I need it I probably didn't, and 8 moves in 6 years means I'm fairly streamlined. His mum just kept everything and put it in the loft, she now has 3 DCs crap up there (although 2 are still at home) and keeps getting turned down when she asks if we want something she's found.
"No we don't need DPs pimp hat from Halloween 3 years ago, throw it out"
"Well I'll put it back in the loft just in case"

I thought my appointment was at 11 and its 11.30, I've been here 10 minutes already. I also came with a full bladder so I could give a sample since I forgot to pick a pot up when I made the appointment. Their toilet is out of order Sad.

Queenofsiburbia · 17/10/2012 11:11

GRRR at high handed bullying gasmen Pidj. You are not being hormonal, I think give them a piece of your mind & suggest legal action if they proceed with ugly pipe work.

I'm slowly recovering from horrendous bout of gastric flu which lasted 48 hours & !!TMI alert!! consisted of at least hourly trips to bathroom, night & day. If anyone else gets it just be aware that it's very contagious & I've been told to avoid hospitals, babies, pregnant women (!) and the elderly for at least 3 days after symptoms go.

Phew, finally off the crackers & water diet now!

Good news, we're moving! Grin

MyDaydream · 17/10/2012 12:41

queen glad your getting better, that sounds horrendous. Good luck with your move.
Back from the midwife and realised when I left I only have 3 appointments left before my due date an one of those is my 40 week one. Now I'm a bit worried! It was the first time I met my new one since moving and she seems really nice, I was a bit worried about it since the nurse I saw last week was useless and had been expecting the MW to be the same.

PurplePidjin · 17/10/2012 13:17

Got back from knitting group and they'd done it anyway. So i rang the board and told them they had 1 hour to get their staff off my property or I'd be calling the police re trespass and criminal damage

Bellaboo123 · 17/10/2012 14:04

GO pidjin too bloody right!

Can't stop eating today....mmmmmmm food!

coffeeandcream · 17/10/2012 14:05

Warning I am about to go off on a mega rant and figured this might be the best place to do it....

I FINALLY got to see the specialist mental health MW today - I was referred at my 8 week booking in appointment and I'm 33+3 today... great start.... I arrived on time, despite a shit nights sleep, sciatica and horrid heart burn all night. After 25 minutes of waiting the receptionist tried to find MW - turns out she was at another hospital and thought my appointment was an hour later. Er, no, I spoke to her directly to arrange it!
So she rocks up an hour later, can't find my medical notes, confuses me with another patient, doesn't switch off her mobile phone during the appointment and hands me a box of empty tissues when I'm crying. In the end, we got there and it wasn't too bad. I got some of the reassurance that I needed and a care plan is being put in place for me should I need it after LO is born. BTW, she did apologise for being late.

And you know how when you are really annoyed, other things tick you off too? Whilst I was in the waiting area, another patient turned up to see the same midwife. The gobby receptionist said in a loud voice so everyone could hear, I was also one of the mental health patients and she could go and sit with me! Put the crazy ones in a corner together so they don't infect the normal people! Anyone who says YABU, I will implode!

Sorry ladies, had to let off steam somewhere Blush

PurplePidjin · 17/10/2012 15:17

Coffee, major breach of confidentiality - both the directing another patient to you and taking calls during an appointment.

Rockets firmly up arses, meeting with senior engineer tomorrow morning. I will be represented by one extremely pissed off Dad who doesn't like to be fobbed off (ie, what the senior senior engineer i just spoke to tried to do) plus work to be halted in the mean time so no workmen peering in the window or drilling walls at sparrow fart!

I may have laid it on a bit thick about my pregnancy and elderly ndn's mh issues Blush

SpottyTeacakes · 17/10/2012 15:59

All went well at the hospital had a really good chat with my lovely mw about the birth this time and am hoping it won't be as bad as last time. She also gave me some infor on expressing colostrum and suggested sweeps from 37 weeks in the hope that will make me go into labour 'naturally' avoiding all the nasty hormones etc

My back is so painful I think I might cry Sad

cookies what a nightmare! The whole thing sounds awful, I hope you're sitting at home having a nice cup of tea and biscuits!

Good for you pidj you must be royally fed up with all this

EggsMichelle · 17/10/2012 16:04

Oh dear Coffee that's appalling practice from the receptionist and nurse, sounds like a challenge to break as many NMC code of conduct points as possible. Perhaps they need to review their position as a CPN if they can't even keep up with their appointments. I suppose the positive that a care plan has been put into place is a bonus, but do you feel supported and that you feel you can approach them when ever you need?

My cot arrived about an hour ago, but need to wait for DH to come home tomo to put it together. Thought I would have take away tonight, but can't decide between kebab or curry?

Bought nipple cream, fun times!

EggsMichelle · 17/10/2012 16:05

And well done pidj' you stick that gas board in their place!

utopian99 · 17/10/2012 16:48

Bit late off the mark but congratulations
mrsfluff!
Also good luck for tomorrow pidj..

Went to our breastfeeding session with the NCT yesterday and they really emphasized the importance of skin-to-skin, and maybe dh and I are being simples but I would have thought it was a given that that's what you do anyway?

kate2boysandabump · 17/10/2012 17:33

Not been able to post much recently real life has got in the way, very busy time here.

Had a mw check up last week and baby all fine, measuring just right and a happy heart beat, but I had ++ for glucose and + for ketones, so have had a flea in my ear from the mw about not looking after myself properly Blush

Been to physio this week and I've been referred for hydrotherapy, which sounds very relaxing. SHe also gave me crutches for when I need them and some proper training on how to use them for stairs, seats etc. and referred me to orthotics for a proper back brace so I can continue with the school run a bit longer. She is so much better then the people I had last time. Feel very positive about it all.

I had my flu jab last Friday and it still hurts Sad Does anyone else's feel itchy?

Today I bought maternity pads and breast pads, good times! I got them in Boots which are currently buy 1 get 1 half price, so quite a saving and lots of bottles and breast pumps were half price too.

Pidj That's terrible, glad your dad is supporting you.

Congratulations Mrsacjfluff Was wondering if I had missed your wedding
Smile

Utopian They mean the baby should be naked, so all its skin is against yours Smile At delivery I had both of mine tucked up in my nightie for a good while after they were born. It's a lovely, cuddly, if slightly wet and slippery feeling

coffeeandcream · 17/10/2012 18:03

Hi Pidj, sounds like people are ticking you off too, hope it gets sorted.

Hello to you too Eggs, I agree with you, its good to have something in place, but it doesn't fill me with confidence. I'd love to make a stinking complaint but with my due date coming up and several appointments between now and then I'm afraid to rock the boat TBH. I shall smoulder and fume in silence Angry. Great that your cots arrived BTW, exciting times!

HoneyMum21 · 17/10/2012 18:06

Well I'm sitting in maternity assessment as registrar decided I might be going into premature labour so waiting for results of a swab. Fun times.

PurplePidjin · 17/10/2012 18:09

First thing i asked when the ectopic heartbeat thing was first discovered was whether it would affect skin to skin Blush it's my one definite in the birth plan, though

Dp just got in from work, apparently the workmen are still here because they're taking the pipes down again. I appear to have had an effect Shock

Personally, i don't give a stuff hiw many freegolders give what kind of permission. It is not acceptable to send jobsworths workmen to drill holes in and erect industrial-looking pipe work on someone's home Angry if dp had been here there would have been actual bloodshed i like my way despite the tears behind the scenes

PurplePidjin · 17/10/2012 18:11

and Honey. hope it's a false alarm!

Barbeasty · 17/10/2012 18:12

Oh Honey, good luck and hope everything's ok.

SpottyTeacakes · 17/10/2012 18:15

Keep us updated Honey there's lots they can do now if it is PL :) hopefully it's just a urine infection!

EggsMichelle · 17/10/2012 18:48

Good luck Honey, keep us posted on your progress.

Cookie if you are not confident with the nurse, you need to call the team manager and ask to see someone else next time, it's not a difficult procedure, there will be other CPNs available and it is clearly stipulated within your rights as a client to have a choice of who you see. All thought I am ward based, it is the same rules that apply within community teams, mental health care does not work unless there is mutual trust.

Secondsop · 17/10/2012 18:55

honey hope all is ok.

coffee that's absolutely awful about the receptionist - I would definitely complain. How dare she (a) reveal that you are one of the mental health patients and (b) direct the other patient to sit with you. I must say I react badly generally to having to talk to other people in such situations which is one reason I'm so grateful for this group - I hate the chatting to other women at the antenatal clinic and my heart sank when the diabetic nurse told me that everyone there chatted in the waiting room about their blood sugar levels, food, etc. And that's just me being a bit unsociable and disliking talking about personal matters in public - it's nothing like as serious as your situation.

MaMaPo · 17/10/2012 18:58

Gosh, honey, best of luck.

Pertussis jab site not too achy today despite sleeping on it all night - and also had the return of crazy pregnancy dreams! I'm sure my good friend who is an excellent, highly qualified lawyer hasn't decided to retrain as a doctor.

Barbeasty, thanks for the tip about NICE guidelines - can't believe I forgot to look out for them. If anyone's interested, they're easy to read and you might find them helpful. www.nice.org.uk/nicemedia/pdf/IPCNICEGuidance.pdf

As I googled 'NICE childbirth' (asking for trouble, really) I found this link: www.makeupandbeautyblog.com/beauty-tips/how-to-look-great-during-childbirth/ So - anyone else concerned about their postpartum photo and going to plan their makeup so they can look their best?

Just now I had my first proper painful kick, that made me say 'OW' and quickly rub the spot hard to move the offending limb out of the way. The baby seems intent on fidgeting itself into all the uncomfortable positions today...
