New thread here ladies!

Honey you definitely don't need to do any Christmas shopping!

Barbeasty · 26/10/2012 12:41

Honey congratulations, and combine birth announcement cards with Christmas cards. A baby who has to stay in hospital for a short while is a great excuse not to shop. Or do bits online while you're hanging around the hospital.

MyDaydream · 26/10/2012 12:41

Honey it's a great name, hope he gets off the incubator soon. I'd say being too busy with your baby was a better excuse than being pregnant for not doing Christmas shopping.
I told my DP about the first December Christmas baby and there was definitely a look of fear in his face!
I have no energy for mad nesting cleaning, maybe it'll come. We're having a Halloween/house warming party tonight I need to clean for, and I can't even dump everything in one room because DP is obsessed with house tours so I have to do things properly. I've got to go pick up DPs costume from the shop too because when I asked him at 9 last night how he was going to pick it up he looked blank and obviously just expected it to be waiting for him to put on when he got home from work. He's paying for my taxi and cake as a thank you. I might also leave the washing up for him to do when he gets in!

Mummycox · 26/10/2012 14:10

Oh honey congratulations! Lovely name and well done you.

So who's next?

Happy weekend all

WerewolvesDoTheFandango · 26/10/2012 17:08

Ooh lovely Honey and a good weight for an early one!

God we're completely unprepared for a baby, we're trying to sell so are putting off setting up the nursery until December. There's always the sock drawer!

Nesting has kicked in for me Daydream, I just walked into the bathroom and decided the shower curtain stank. Next thing you know, it and a load of towels are on a boil wash and I'm scrubbing the bath [hconfused]!

Clarella · 26/10/2012 17:33

I just had to go to the library for a wee.

Given up on boil wash nesting for mo - just seen a new layer of building dust in spare bedroom/ store room /britains biggest hoarders room and hadn't realised DH had removed the dust sheets in there for downstairs but they've been chipping old plaster work away in hall and while clearing up the dust has billowed up stairs and into rooms. My heart couldn't even be arsed to sink this time.

technically I'm due 26 nov but really hoping now to stretch into early Dec!!

Hope all's going well honeymum? xx

Tried posting earlier but phone died, chatted to friend 37 wks who described exact same bh movement of tightly rising up and then pushing down - nothing today, I really think tiredness and dehydration were to blame yesterday but keeping an eye on it! Good info Alison re uti, hadn't realised that.

PrunellaDeVille · 26/10/2012 17:57

how much do you worry about quiet days on the movement front?

i've been quite active today so maybe i missed the odd small shuffle but it's been really quiet especially compared to it's usual disco attitude.
downed a pint of cold water about 5 and i've been sat still concentrating on movements since - more but minimal.
it's probably just busy growing today Smile

nesting i think, cleaned the oven today when i realised i'd probably taken the 'self cleaning' oven too literally and haven't cleaned it since we bought it - time has flown - that was 7 years ago Blush Blush Blush.

Clarella · 26/10/2012 18:12

I actually really don't know prune, and wish I did; had a big worry last week and it turned out he'd turned completely to my back (as mw felt) but usually lies with feet in ribs - anterior placenta so didn't feel him. Also in the last two weeks the movement has changed to an undulating rolling feeling rather than disco kicks and wriggles - I guess he's running out of room - so I actually don't feel it as much now when doing stuff out and about. But as with honeymums experience, you really can't take chances and need to go with a gut instinct, I'm sure no-one will mind checking you out to be on the safe side

AlisonDB · 26/10/2012 18:51

Ooh I'm a bugger for poking and prodding my poor little one if i don't feel him move enough,
If in doubt though phone the midwife.

PurplePidjInAPointyHat · 26/10/2012 18:54

Prunella, i find that when i move a lot it rocks him to sleep. I'm sure yours will more than make up for it at 2am, but if he doesn't, call the labour ward for advice [hsmile]

Love dp. I commented about how little time Darren off Hollyoaks was spending away from hospital (prem baby storyline), and how I'd have thrown a hormonal shit fit by now. "But it's normal for new mums to throw hormonal shit fits" he replied. Good to know he's prepared [hgrin]

PurplePidjInAPointyHat · 26/10/2012 18:55

Btw, i find he wriggles around if i squish him up a bit - lean forwards in your chair, maybe?

SpottyTeacakes · 26/10/2012 19:05

I find laying my left side after a cold drink helps. I'm not much of a worrier though Blush not unless it gets to about 9pm and I can't recall feeling him because usually he moves all day (especially when I eat) and then goes crazy as I go to bed!

WerewolvesDoTheFandango · 26/10/2012 19:17

I'm the same as Spotty 9:30pm onwards he goes mad so I don't worry if I don't feeel him all day. I also find if I stand a cold drink in my bump he'll try to kick it straight off!

OP posts:
SpottyTeacakes · 26/10/2012 19:44

Mmm dp is cooking us brinner! Just realised I haven't eaten for seven hours and I'm starving. Got bad braxton hicks too grrr

MyDaydream · 26/10/2012 19:47

I don't worry too much about feeling wriggles. It comes in bursts, and I've discovered running up and down stairs really gets him going.
Sitting down for the first time in about 6 hours. Had to go pick DPs costume up which was a nightmare and resulted in me crying and calling my mum because i was so frustrated, and now house is clean I have to get ready for guests arriving any minute. I'm ready to collapse into bed, I've not even sorted party food out! Not looking forward to years of kids parties!

PrunellaDeVille · 26/10/2012 21:09

good call on the 9o'clock kick off ladies. no doubt LO will go through the night now. I often get paranoid through the day, guess i just have to hold my nerve.

Clarella · 26/10/2012 22:44

Glad all's well prune :)

Ok when I joked I may need a sledge for getting to the hospital... - if what is going on outside mimics November 2010 - 3 solid weeks of snow everyday in Newcastle causing total lock down as no one was prepared - ... I will need a sledge. Heading towards an inch deep so far.... [hconfused] not even bin Halloween yet!

I grew up in the peak district so not adverse to a bit o snow but is anyone ready for this in October?! it even snowed in May. Got bloomin yoga in the morn, going to have to chip the car out [hshock]

emilyeggs · 26/10/2012 23:07

This may be a really stupid question but for those of you who have already had babies, did you feel lighter and had more room to breath immediately after given birth? Sorry if I sound daft Blush

Secondsop · 27/10/2012 00:36

emilyeggs I don't know the answer to your question but I really hope the answer is "yes".

StrawberrytallCAKE · 27/10/2012 02:07

emily I definitely felt lighter and all of the swelling in my body seemed to go down immediately. I remember looking in the mirror and thinking wow I've got my face back again. I was really quite high on adrenaline so instead of resting I was up and doing things which was a mistake!!!

So it took me 3 hours to drive to the hairdresser (had to go to a big city one as it was a chain t&g and my local one did the cruella de vil look) to get my hair corrected, I missed my appointment and they moved it to 3.30, not knowing where it was I used google maps and walked 30 mins for what was essentially a 10 min walk. It took 6 hours and now my hair is copper with blonde at the end so still not right. ARGH!!!!!!!!! Now I'm awake and knackered but unable to sleep. Such fun! :)

SpottyTeacakes · 27/10/2012 04:56

Oh strawb what a nightmare! Do you have particularly difficult hair?

Clarella Shock at your snow we live miles from the main roads they only started giving us hippo bags of grit last year Hmm and in a massive valley so get totally stranded for days when it snows! Luckily if all else fails I know a few people with 4x4s Envy

emily it's a weird feeling, my stomach went down really quickly but obviously was still there straight after all wobbly. You definitely feel lighter but as Strawb said you really must take it easy or you will soon regret it, definitely make the most of people offering to help (and don't go walking round town a few days later because your stitches will come undone and you won't heal properly Hmm)

Dd woke at half four went back to sleep fairly quickly but I'm awake now rubbish

HoneyMum21 · 27/10/2012 06:07

emily currently I feel a lot emptier but still quite wobbly. Tummy def went down a lot straight away but hoping it's got some more to go down!

EggsMichelle · 27/10/2012 06:42

Clarella DH and I have come up to Newcastle for the weekend, and the initial excitement turned to fear or being stranded up here! Thankfully iv just l

EggsMichelle · 27/10/2012 06:44

Oops! Iv just looked out the window and its not settled. Walking up the big naked lady today, very excited.

I'm not bothered about a wobbly belly (exercise will fix that) but I do look forward to not having the massive weight hanging off me.

Walnut8 · 27/10/2012 07:15

Emptier and wobblier is a good way of putting it! Things will tighten up over the few weeks/months after birth, if I remember right. Not sure about breathing - but I did notice my hip pain settled down immediately after birth. I agree about not walking around too much - let the stitches heal a bit first! Not that you want to do much walking if you have a lot of stitches ...!

DH currently at bucks do and DD has decided to come down with another cold and not nap this afternoon. Sigh. Thank goodness for peppa pig!

Really need to get some energy together to do the things on my list - ie washing baby stuff, hospital bag etc etc etc.

Hope the Lo is doing well Honey.
