New thread here ladies!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
SpottyTeacakes · 23/10/2012 10:13

cookies I think with this being dc2 they will already be 1-2cm dilated although I was 1cm at 36 weeks with dd so I'm not sure. First timers should still be firm and closed (I don't know the technical words Wink)

SpottyTeacakes · 23/10/2012 10:14

Ooo a mw drop in centre that's a good idea!

utopian99 · 23/10/2012 10:30

Just phoned midwife who said what you've all been saying but then said i can't come into the hospital to see the aneasthatist with d&v. Have been told they'll try to rearrange but not sure if they'll manage before my due date! So no idea whether I'd be allowed an epi if i needed one, or if i need an emergency c-section if they'll have knock me fully unconscious to do it. Feel like crying right now.

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 23/10/2012 10:31

Good luck with your test mydaydream

I can't reach my cervix atm, I'm sure they move forward closer to the time though.

I've just booked my wax for the beginning of dec. My lady garden is more of a jungle already with no hope if me doing anything to it!

emilyeggs · 23/10/2012 10:33

Good luck with the test daydream

Walnut8 · 23/10/2012 10:41

oh yes ladygarden. hmmm. what is good sort of timing do you think? I was thinking of getting it tended around 36 weeks, but will be at a wedding that weekend so should i do it at 35 or 37?? I'm thinking 35 ... then again my hair isnt really growing much at all so maybe i should take the opportunity to get it done this weekend when I know I'll have a half hour spare.

Poor you utopian Sad I know you are probably feeling terrible right now with illness let alone about the anesthetist, but I'm absolutely sure if you really push for it and get on their backs (once better) they will be able to schedule you in somehow. Chin up, it will be okay, and I hope you feel better soon.

SpottyTeacakes · 23/10/2012 10:45

Good luck MyDaydream!

Utopian you don't have to say but is there any reason you might not be allowed one? Is it back problems? I wonder if you can't reschedule then you could email or something, surely all they need to do is look at your notes?

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 23/10/2012 10:51

Walnut I'm due 16tg of dec and booked it for 4th so I'll be 38+2 but my hair is growing really quick so I don't wanna risk too much regrowth.

utopian that sucks but I'm sure if you badger them enough you'll get an appointment if only to shut you up

utopian99 · 23/10/2012 11:33

spotty i have scoleosis (wonky spine issue) but only mild, which is why they wanted to see if there was a chance or not in advance.. I've sort of prepared myself for it being an issue, but would be less apprehensive if I knew in advance.

Cookiesandcream06 · 23/10/2012 12:01

Good luck daydream Smile

utopian yes always badger ! Nagging does (in many cases) work!

Well stacey I can't reach mine but last time I checked was really soft and like flattened ?! But have had lots more discharge (yuk hate that word!) just hate not knowing what's normal!

Also feeling sick again these past few days, especially in the mornings. And now a killer headache to join the fun. Just necked a pint of water and paracetamol.

Lady garden- never been for a wax before?! Let alone when the size of a whale. But really want to! Are we getting it all off ladies ? If you don't mind me asking BlushWink I'm not a fan of a 'fro and deffo think will be cleaner for after

SpottyTeacakes · 23/10/2012 12:11

I'm quite swollen 'down there' most the time Blush so think a wax would be a bad idea. I'm just going to shave down below and get dp to trim the rest Grin

Tbh utopian an appointment will only take five minutes they should be able to fit you in or get the phone number of his secretary and go straight through her/him

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 23/10/2012 12:16

cookies I've never been waxed but the look on DHs face when I mentioned he might need to help shave my legs told me I wasn't getting any help down there! In getting it all off but I normally shave it all off anyway, so am feeling awful atm. As for cervix the last time I reached it it was soft and not tightly closed iyswim. I've had some creamy discharge but not a huge amount. Who knows what's normal? I've almost given up trying to work it out! Lol

AlisonDB · 23/10/2012 12:17

Good luck Daydream, Fingers crossed for you!

Utopian- hope you feel better soon, I had v&d at around 25 weeks and it was awful!! But just keep hydrated,

And yes I am also hot & bothered,
Even the smallest job leaves me sweating. This morning I took the kids to the park literally across the street from our house,
By the time I'd got all their coats and shoes on I was exhausted!

of a night time, I'm sleeping in just a vest top and shorts with my feet sticking out of the covers! DH has vacated to the spare room, otherwise neither of us gets any sleep, I'm like a cross between a beached whale/star fish, and I'm constantly moving to the Cooler side of the bed to sleep on!

kate2boysandabump · 23/10/2012 12:18

Good luckDaydream

Feel better soon Utopian

Had a good nights sleep last night, which made a pleasant change. I think I may have to go back to the doctors for something stronger than Gaviscon, but I keep forgetting to ring to make an appointment Blush I have NO motivation.

I've felt queasy on and off for most of this pregnancy and I had a friend who knew she was going into labour because she stopped feeling sick. She finally felt like eating, took the first bite of a cream cake and her waters went!! Alison are you sure the sickness isn't an infection? Worth getting checked at this stage.

DH not drinking from 10/11 when we are going to a big party. I'm more worried about him working 45 minutes away with the threat of bad weather coming. It's taken him 5 hours to get home in the snow before now.

I can't reach my cervix either, but I think it's supposed to be far back and closed at this stage, although if you've already had a baby it's probably a bit open. I think it's also supposed to be quite firm too.

WeeJo08 · 23/10/2012 12:18

Poor utopian - sorry to hear you're feeling so yuck and now have to deal with the added hassle of the anaesthetist uncertainty :( I agree with the others though - once you feel better just annoy them into agreeing be persistent.

Re: cervix and ladygardening. I wouldn't know my cervix if it smacked me in the face (although if it did, I'm pretty sure that would be unusual, my grasp of biology isn't that bad) Ladygardening - I am just such a wuss when it comes to waxing I don't know if I am brave enough to have one. I haven't exactly enjoyed them in the past. I had heard that you can be a bit more sensitive during pregnancy so it might hurt even more. Hmmm. Don't know what to do. Totally agree that it will help for afterwards though.

Walnut8 · 23/10/2012 12:25

Re waxing, I'm also wondering whether its a good idea spotty ... last time I just trimmed near my due date sometime, then forgot about it. I wasn't going to get all off this time, just a high bikini wax. But everything does seem a bit sensitive... A girlfriend of mine had it done just before her due date and said it was fine, so sort of convinced me, but I'm still not really sure. I feel pretty awful and hairy atm though too, must at least trim when I get the chance. But I think I will bite the bullet. Deffo not all off though, way too sensitive for that.

Nauseous all day today and could only manage cheese on toast for dinner tonight (it's late here). Bedtime, I think.

SpottyTeacakes · 23/10/2012 12:31

Just had the worst heart palpitations felt like I couldn't breathe! Confused

PrunellaDeVille · 23/10/2012 12:32

utopian concur with all the 'pester them' recommendations, and make sure everyone you speak to is aware of your pg status and that it's a matter of urgency, there's bound to be someone who can at least put you onto a cancellations waiting list, don't despair yet.

always reassuring to hear that everyone on here seems to be having similar issues and everything's 'normal' - at the moment those issues being: hot, constantly needing to pee throughout the night, feeling vomitous etc. starting to worry though that, at 34 weeks tomorrow, i've not experienced any colostrum leakage and paranoid i'm going to be dry for LO.

living in a hippy town and planning on going to the local stand alone MLU i'm worried that anything less than wild and free will be shocking on the gardening front Wink

and one last thing... i'm home alone and nobody else to share the good news with that our solicitor just called to say that they've completed on our buying of a derelict barn to convert Grin. feeling the guilt already but i'm so indulging in a glass of Wine tonight.
just need to install the manger and hire a donkey and i'll be ready for a christmas baby.

SpottyTeacakes · 23/10/2012 12:36

Great news Pru! I never leaked anything with dd but still managed to get plenty out when she was born even though I was induced early Smile

WeeJo08 · 23/10/2012 12:37

Congratulations Prunella!! Grin

PS I've not experienced any leakage either and I'm just a couple of days behind you. My book said it was fine - though that hasn't stopped me worrying and having the odd squeeze Blush

2blessed · 23/10/2012 12:54

good luck daydream
Booking my wax today. Mentioned to dp that I would need help with a bikin trim and he looked horrified! Then I explained how it could be helpful re. stitches and its really annoying me that I can't maintain my regime and then he offered to take it off with his clippers! Will also have a pedicure.
This LO is a real wriggler, I'm not complaining but so much for slowing down...
Appointment with the midwife on friday, hoping to hear heartbeat as her doppler was broken the last time so didn't have a chance to Sad
Otherwise everything is good. Changed my leaving date to 30th November, no idea how I'm going to make it, finding commuting so tiring.

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 23/10/2012 12:54

Congratulations prunella I didn't leak with either of the other 2 so I think it's normal. This time I leak every time something touches my boob lol!

ellliebelle · 23/10/2012 12:55

WARNING major rant about to happen (sorry ladies)

i had my gtt on 11/10 and was told i would get a call the next day if results were positive and if i didn't hear anything then test was negative, no call so assumed everything was fine (i know now i should have called and double checked myself)

so yesterday i got a letter saying the test was positive and i have been booked in to diabetic clinic and to see a consultant on thursday, all well and good apart from the fact we go to Euro Disney on thursday so i called to cancel and speak to someone. no one would speak to me about rearranging but did cancel my appointment.

felt i should prob be proactive and did some googling and the consensus is i would be given diet advice and a blood glucose monitor and told to take readings for a couple of weeks so i made an appointment with my gp to discuss, he was great got the midwife to speak to me and she said she would speak to the nurse and try and arrange an appointment for her to sort me out with a monitor.

so i left gp's and got a call from the hospital having a right go at me for canceling my appointments and near enough demanding i go in today (im working so not possible) i could have cried after the phone call she was so horrible even when i had explained i was sorting things with my gp surgery and would monitor levels until i could have an appointment.

any way had a call from midwife about 45 mins ago saying nurse could see me this afternoon and she would get her to call me and im still waiting now :(

just feel very stressed about it all, worried how on earth im going to restrict my diet and also worried they will tell me i cant have a homebirth :(

PrunellaDeVille · 23/10/2012 13:15

nobody can tell you you can't have a homebirth ellie, they can recommend but they can't insist.

Queenofsiburbia · 23/10/2012 13:20

So many familiar annoyances & problems.

I am boiling hot at night whereas DH has body temperature of a lizard in a freezer Hmm. He wants to use the 500 tog duvet, I want a sheet!

Waxing is abit more painful, I had one before our hols in September [Ow! emoticon]. Think I shall trim with a 'ladytrimmer' plus shave bikini line. Planning on doing this when I start to feel like its all going to happen & I'm wallowing in bath/ shower b4 hospital. Is that optimistic?!

I would never admit this on another thread for fear of being flamed but I am struggling mentally with the leaking boob (just the RH one)! It just feels so wierd & gross. I know in a couple of months I'll feel Blush about thinking this! But up til now they've only been part of my sex life... To be fair so has my fanjo and all sorts of people will be peering at that!

Not sure if it's just me but I'm sleeping better now than a few weeks ago, I'm 34 weeks so maybe things will improve for those of you struggling.
