OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

honey I think you should take the time now to relax and put work out of your mind. My focus has changed in pregnancy it takes me a while now if things are far away, keep thinking of new glasses but they'll probably have to wait.
kate I think I sent it two weeks ago, three maximum. It was faster than I was expecting and should get my first payment in 5-10 days according to the letter. Just check it when you get the confirmation, I asked for mine to start next month but they've started me in September, it works out better for us as it turns out but best to make sure it's all right.
I'm bored, DP is making me watch The Avengers, I don't like superheroes and I don't really like films. I also let him pick the cake for tonight and I didn't like that either.

emilyeggs · 20/10/2012 22:24

Little sters moving again Grin

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 20/10/2012 22:43

Glad there's movement emily I wish tadpole would stop trying to somersault! It's not comfy!

Had a gorgeous curry for dinner. Yummy!

giraffe213 · 20/10/2012 22:49

Glad to hear it emily. Mine has days of moving less, especially if I feel tired myself, but always seems to reassure with a major wriggle just when I'm starting to worry properly.

Whoever was asking about the WC jab, I think my arm was sore for about 3 days afterwards! Had it on Tuesday and this is the first day I haven't really noticed it - it still hurts a bit if I press it.

Does anyone here watch Downton Abbey? (surely...) Since last week I've been freaking out a bit about pre-eclampsia - always been a bit of a hypochondriac, my feet have been getting swollen for weeks now (the midwife isn't bothered and cheerfully said it'll probably get worse!), and this week I've got a cold, so yes, I do have a bit of a headache, when I think about it... how bad does it have to be? I'm guessing a proper headache that doesn't go away with paracetamol.

Secondsop · 21/10/2012 00:37

Hello all. honey glad to hear you're feeling better - I too am inclined to agree with your husband about you stopping work sooner rather than later.

I'm finding the discussions about birth plans, pain relief, TENS, pethadine etc to be really useful, hearing all your different viewpoints. I had pethadine after an operation years ago and I have to say I bloody loved it at the time, but it did space me out and I'm not sure i want to be so spaced out in labour. I remember going to the loo during that hospital stay and catching sight of my enormous, druggy eyes in the mirror, which scared me a bit.

Today has been good - picked up baby stuff including pushchair and carseat of reliable provenance from a friend, then a family dinner (curry) after which my blood sugars were excellent (stuck to a half portion of rice but plenty of curry) although I was sad to miss out on the chocolate cake afterwards.

Secondsop · 21/10/2012 00:38

I also managed to freak out my sister by showing her the baby's highly visible movements - he put on quite a show.

2blessed · 21/10/2012 04:49

Ooops double post, sorry

SpottyTeacakes · 21/10/2012 07:08

giraffe when I had pre-eclampsia it wasn't a headache it was a migraine. I was being sick every half an hour all night and had the spots in my vision. My hands, feet and face were all swollen. I've also been getting swollen feet for ages now but as long as they're normal by the morning it's fine, with PE they don't go down Smile

utopian99 · 21/10/2012 09:04

Have been awake in chunks all night as DH has a food bug from what i suspect was the burger last night. He's not doing well (we've both been hospitalised for gastro in the past, so am keeping an eagle eye out for it getting much worse, but so far not, thank heavens..)

I've been a bit dissmissive about all the pg food rules, although have stuck to them, so now quite glad I did. Crumb is frisking about in worry too.. Sad

EggsMichelle · 21/10/2012 09:50

My DH has had a virus for the last few days, resulting in multiple toilet trips in the middle of the night and snoring, driving me mad.

Slept with a pillow under my bump for the first time last night, although my hip seemed to be sore from the position, I did manage to get back off to sleep each time I woke up so that's a bonus. Using an old feather pillow in the hope that it will be easier to mould around the bump.

Dong what Sunday mornings were made for, watching Hollyoaks omnibus!

MaMaPo · 21/10/2012 10:11

Morning all! After an unbelievable almost-unbroken 10 hours sleep the other night, last night I was back to frequent trips to the loo because of thirst, and I kept waking up lying on my back with a sore back. I think I'm coming down with a cold, so feeling tip top all round.

Hmm - yet another weekend of getting absolutely nothing baby-related done. We really must pull our fingers out. So far this baby has odds and ends to wear (nowhere near enough - a couple of bits and pieces the right size from anywhere from newborn to 1 year old), nowhere to sleep, no way to be transported, and I have nothing for the hospital. On the other hand, we have a delicious lemon tart to take to our friends' place for Sunday lunch, and two lovely Christmas puddings boiling on the stove. You can see where our priorities are!

Honey, very glad to hear you're back home! Take it easy.

At 32 weeks starting to feel more and more uncomfortable, even in the bump isn't that huge. I am wishing it were bigger, as perhaps my stomach and lungs could get a look in. It is reliably taking me 2-3 times as long to finish my dinner compared to my husband, as I need so many rest periods. He keeps looking at me with a mixture of humour and sympathy and reassuring me that it's not a sprint. Still, finishing my meal while it's still warm would be nice!

JoJoB77 · 21/10/2012 10:18

Gah, evil heartburn has definitely made its appearance Sad

EggsMichelle · 21/10/2012 10:55

I have stretch marks on my belly button!!!

Secondsop · 21/10/2012 11:45

2blessed it's a quinny buzz frame plus car seat that clips on; she couldn't find the actual chair bit though so I'm hoping I can buy one from somewhere. I guess I can wheel the baby around in the car seat for a while though can't I? That is the point of the ones that slot into pushchair frames isn't it, so that you don't have to transfer the baby from one seat to another?

SpottyTeacakes · 21/10/2012 11:59

Eggs if you have a pillow under your bump I think you're meant to put one between your legs/knees too, that should help your hip?

Dp has been ill the past few days too with really bad stomach cramps but nothings come of it. He's still been working and they've been doing something with drains/sewage (no protective clothing) Hmm so it's probably that.

We went swimming my hips hurt now didn't even do any actual swimming. The pool seemed so cold dd shivered the whole time

PurplePidjInAPointyHat · 21/10/2012 12:07

Mama, just grab a couple of packs of vests and sleep suits the next time you're in the supermarket, add in some hats and a coat if you spot them. Then, you'll need a car seat (Argos) and a pushchair (ditto).

Arrange a day out in town with dp/mum/sister/broody mate to get a moses basket, couple of flat sheets and cotton blankets, and anything else that's actually essential (couple of bottles just in case, for example). Everything else goes on the Christmas Wish List for someone else to organise :o

Secondsop · 21/10/2012 12:17

mama I was panicking a week or so ago about having nothing for the baby and then I read what someone on here (can't remember who I'm afraid) said which was that all the baby really needs at the start is something to wear, something to cover his bottom, a means of getting him home from the hospital, and somewhere to sleep. If you're not breastfeeding add something to eat to that list. The rest can be gathered together afterwards.

emilyeggs · 21/10/2012 12:51

seconds I was told in shop it's ok for baby to be pushed in car seat on frame as long as its not for more than two hours, something to do with there backs. I ended up getting a 0-4 car seat for dh's car and the oyster carry cot so he/she can lie flat (plus I don't drive so won't be doing much transferring, just fighting with public transport) Grin

PurplePidjInAPointyHat · 21/10/2012 13:29

Oh yeah, nappies and cotton wool - again, just chuck some in the trolley :o

MyDaydream · 21/10/2012 13:51

pidj you make it sound so easy. I keep going down the baby aisle planning to get nappies, cotton wool, wipes but can't choose a brand so walk off dejected thinking I don't belong there yet!

emilyeggs · 21/10/2012 14:13

Need to rant Angry AIBU? I just asked dh ( might drop the d hear) if he would read my birth plan, he looked at me holding it and said in a bored voice "not really" Angry I'm so upset Sad all made worse by the fact he already pissed me off this morning because I fed the cat too early and we are "trying to get him into a routine" ha! Good luck with that! (I fed him at 4am so he wouldn't wake everyone up with his meowing). Because that upset me and dh carried on as normal a was told I was just grumpy! Well I've walked out now and left him with his kids (feels like they matter and my one dosen't as, as he puts it, he/she is not in this world yet) SadAngrySadAngry

Mummycox · 21/10/2012 15:08

Oh Emily he's being harsh. Have some you time and let things cool off.

Spotty we went for overpriced but very nice mamas and papas zoom gotten in the sale; after months of searching took DH into a local shop and told him to choose, which he did in 3 mins. Hmm

Am feeling smug as have gone from not being ready to being almost finished, in three weeks. Just got bottles to get now, just in case.

Dear friend who now has two DCs has suggested getting a box of formula in and taking to hospital with you, as hospital may not have the type that you wanted to use, should feeding not go to plan immediately. Apparently saving lots of tears.

Happy Sunday.

SpottyTeacakes · 21/10/2012 15:15

I would disagree with getting a box of formula. Feeding can be quite hard in those first few days and your milk won't even have come in by the time you leave the hospital. My hospital has SMA boo hiss aptimil and cow & gate I think.

Sorry your dh is being an arse Emily Sad

I've just had an hours nap which was lovely Smile
