ok these 2 made me laugh - loving the autocorrects!!
kyzordz tool desserts (rolo desserts?!)
dh21 blokes nose (blocked nose?!)

Iheartpasties · 08/10/2012 08:01

Sorry candypop i dont have any advice with the jab.

I saw mt midwife today - she scanned me and baby is head down, yippee. I'm measuring spot on - heat beat good etc. We fully went over my old notes and i just feel 100% better about everything. It was good and not rushed and i cleared up a few niggly worries of mine.

We seem to have a name as well! I think its dh's number choice and im happy to use it, i named dd so i guess its fair!! we will use my family middle name (if its a boy) that goes back several hundred years!! It's traditional Cornish and very unique and I'm very happy with it. For a girl the middle name is equally exciting!!!!!

Sophiathesnowfairy · 08/10/2012 08:05

candy that's a bit naughty of the teacher considering the impact of a baby actually contracting WH. I have to say I had loads of doubts before I had it and i am still not 100% .But I have done lots of reading and spoken to an ex ObGyn in the states where they use it a lot and he said he and his colleges would be advising me to have it. When I went to have it the nurse at the surgery said one of the first people to come and demand the jab was a pregnant GP.

One whole night of painful BH I feel ok now I am up and moving around, apart from tired out. I was wondering if it really was it but am glad it's. Ot as I was going to start to batch cooking for the freezer this week, and the house needs a once thrice over after the weekendGrin. AND I am off to the mega Tesco this morning to do a bit of a bumper stock up shop!

I think I might put some paracetemol in my bedside drawer incase it happens again.

Sophiathesnowfairy · 08/10/2012 08:06

pasties I actually thought she did mean blokes nose! Grin I thought it was a good analogy.

ValiumQueen · 08/10/2012 08:08

candy your NCT person should keep her opinions to what she knows about. That is purely her unqualified opinion and I feel quite angry that she has voiced it. She should advise you to discuss it with a healthcare professional! Very unprofessional of her.

The vaccine is not 'recommended' in pregnancy as nothing is. Nothing can be tested in pregnancy due to ethics. There is advice from the department of health to vaccinate all pregnant women to protect the unborn baby. They do not do this on a whim. They look at risks and benefits. I encourage you to talk to your doctor if you are worried, and look at the whooping cough threads here, and the DOH website.

pasties good news indeed x

CandyPop · 08/10/2012 08:13

Thanks vallium. I'm gonna call try midwife before my appointment and also speak to my doctor as I have an appointment with her for the jab anyway.

Titsalinabumsquash · 08/10/2012 08:20

Argh another 2.30am wake up, dropped off again at 5 only to be woken by DP in a flap at 6.30 because he was late leaving for work. Still everything is done now, just sitting for 15 before leaving.

I'm having real problems with DS1 at the moment, he's just turned 8 and yet I feel like the parent of two 5 year olds. They have both been parented exactly the same but DS1 almost seems stuck at the maturity level he is at, no table manners, no sincerity or responsibility in him and he seems incapable if being sensible any of the time. It's wearing me down at the moment tbh. Sad

Only a few errands to run today although might have to cancel mw because I'm lacking in childcare but I do have the consultant Friday morning anyway.

Raining and more raining here this morning.

DesperateHousewife21 · 08/10/2012 08:21

LOL pasties yes I meant blocked!! Haha I didn't even notice!

Passmethecrisps · 08/10/2012 08:35

My goodness! I go away for a weekend and two more babies happen! Congrats thechick and evil!

I need quick opinions. At about 2am this morning I woke up because I was soaking wet. My night shirt was wet all over but absolutely drenched through on one boob. My pants were soaking but the bed was not. The back of my nightie was dry - just the front was wet. Any thoughts?

If if was my waters would I not have wet the bed? Bed was dry. It wasn't wee because I have sniffed everything and it doesn't smell at all. Sweat?

Passmethecrisps · 08/10/2012 08:37

Oh and rowing a windy day makes children go bonkers! Genuinely, windy weather makes younger children louder and more 'naughty'. A bit like cats and dogs sometimes go a bit crazy when there is a real gale blowing. Not all children but in a classroom or in the playground it is really noticeable.

StuntNun · 08/10/2012 08:45

Candy the vaccine has not been tested on pregnant women however there is no reason to assume it is not safe. There is a small but real risk that your baby will contract whooping cough and will almost certainly need to be hospitalised if this happens. You need to weigh up the risk of your baby getting sick against the slim chance of the vaccine causing a problem. The vaccine does not contain any live virus so there is no risk of you getting the disease from it. As with all vaccines there is a small risk of side effects but remember you will happily let your child have this vaccine later in life. There is a possibility that your child may not produce as a good an immune response when he/she receives it later on but this cannot be judged at this time and will be mitigated by the fact that the vaccine is given repeatedly. This would be more if a concern for a vaccine that is only given once such as the BCG.

Just a quick update,
Last night we had to get formula milk as I had none in the breast. Tip for you ladies. Grin

He must have suckled on me for about an hour! Constantly! (Not like him so far) and still wanted more! We triple checked his nappy, rocked him to the moon.Sad
His crying was the worst, as we tryed everything, and he just got louder, and looked very unhappy and wanted my breast! He looked dry too. Sad Sad

Yes my nipples are sore, but im not giving up, i just got the hang of breastfeeding. so next time he is going back on there. Smile
Evil

horseylady · 08/10/2012 08:52

Pass could be sweat? I've been a lot more sweaty than normal?!

Wrt the wc vaccine it's the same vaccine you're baby will have at 8 or 12 weeks. To me that's enough and that it's recommended! But it's your choice. My nct lady was the same. I'm having it at 330.

Passmethecrisps · 08/10/2012 08:56

horsey that's what I reckon. I have just given everything an extra-hard sniff and there is no smell at all. I had been dreaming about babies so I think I was havig boob leakage and sweats. I don't normally wear anything to bed so maybe the nightshirt was just too warm.

evil good luck with feeding. Whatever happens I am sure it will be for the best

Evilwater · 08/10/2012 08:57

Pass was there anything in dampness? I had a few white bits, which narrowed it down.
Evil.

kirrinIsland · 08/10/2012 09:01

pass I keep waking up dripping sweat (very glamourous) so it could be that?

Sophiathesnowfairy · 08/10/2012 09:02

evil keep it up! Get yourself a treat...your doing a fab job!

Passmethecrisps · 08/10/2012 09:03

I think so kirrin.

I just called triage and she asked me to put a pad on and call back if it kept being wet. She also checked that noone could have thrown water over me in the middle of the night - not unless he isn't admitting it!

Passmethecrisps · 08/10/2012 09:06

evil I remember you saying that. No way of knowing - certainly nothing obvious. Woman in triage seemed pretty relaxed. No pain to accompany it either today or this morning. I think you should have something delicious for breakfast (I know you have probably been up for hours)

ValiumQueen · 08/10/2012 09:07

pass your breasts are clearly gearing up, which explains the damp top, plus your lady bits are doing the same. I have been experiencing an alarming amount of moisture, and it is not wee or sweat, but not in large enough amounts to be my waters. If it were your waters, the bed would likely be wet, and moving around, especially getting up would result in a gush, maybe big, maybe small, but you would know it was a gush.

evil make sure you put cream on your nipples as you need to protect them now they are sore. Lanisoh is good. After each feed. No need to wash off before feeding. The odd bit of formula will not hurt, but do persevere with feeding. It is normal for bf babies to be like he was last night. It can be pretty constant, especially late afternoons and evenings. Make sure he is on the breast as much as you can tolerate. Even if he is not getting milk through, he is stimulating your breasts to produce more. It is frustrating for him, and distressing for you, but you will get there. I personally wake my babies if they have not fed for 3 hours. DD2 slept for 10 hours the night after she was born, and I had asked the MWs to wake me and her, but they did not. I was so angry as it put us back considerably. If there is a bottle to be given, try to get DH to give it. Baby needs to associate you with milk, as a bottle is easier for him. He needs to work hard for your milk. You are doing so well, and every drop he gets is priceless, but if it is too much for you remember it is your choice. Take one feed at a time. Even though I was an experienced feeder when DD2 came along, there were times I wanted to give up, and was in tears, but I kept at it. Feeding a 10lb baby has its challenges!

Iheartpasties · 08/10/2012 09:08

evil it's so lovely to get your updates. Take everything as it comes, one day at a time, one feed at a time :)

pass leaking boob?

tits sorry O have no advice for an 8 year old. I'm sure all children no matter their age go through extremely trying phases.

Evilwater · 08/10/2012 09:09

Well dad, has done loads.Grin
I'm taking over as he has to go to uni, and cause he is self-employed he will have to do some work. So I'm up, to make sure he can get a few good hours.

Evil.

Evilwater · 08/10/2012 09:16

Pass good if it is.
Evil

ValiumQueen · 08/10/2012 09:17

Gosh evil your man is having to go to work? DH will not get paid pat leave, but if he goes out for anything I will kill him! (except to take the kids out, like that would ever happen) you really are doing fabulously, and I too love hearing from you.

tits is this a new or long standing thing with your boy? Some days the 2yo is the mature one in my brood. DD1 is 6 but wants to be a baby, is jealous of her little sister, and is being a PITA. This morning she was pretending to read a (make believe) story called 'how to kill babies' I was furious! It is important to remember that even though she is older, she is still a little person who knows her life is about to change. Could your boy be feeling similar things, or is it just that he is a little scamp?

ValiumQueen · 08/10/2012 09:18

evil what was it like when your waters went? You said about the white bits, but was it a flood, or dribble?
