Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
SpottyTeacakes · 01/10/2012 14:47

I don't have a maternity swimming costumes! And I definitely can't afford one with everything going on Sad

Queenofsiburbia · 01/10/2012 14:49

My God honey that's extreme! I cross posted with you so my swimming lecture looks abit incongruous!

Take it super easy and do lots of steam inhalations to help clear you out.
You poor thing!

Queenofsiburbia · 01/10/2012 15:07

Oh spotty Sad I'm sure the combined MN powers can locate a cheappy sonewhere on the net. I have been buying things from new look maternity which is pretty good.

There will be a sale one somewhere on t'interweb. I got mine in sale from fig leaves. It's abit gaudy but I don't care (it's less scary than my lumpy bump!).

minipie · 01/10/2012 15:29

Spotty do you have any bikinis? I wore bikinis recently on holiday and they were fine if a little stretched as long as they have a low cut waist they should fit under the bump?

Owwww Honey hope you are ok. I was going to have a little whinge about the rib pain I've been getting at night, but that's nothing compared with a cracked rib!

Wow to those on 32 weeks! I hit 30 weeks last Friday, it feels like a bit of a milestone, and I feel the number of weeks now somewhat justifies the ENORMOUS size of my bump!

PurplePidjin · 01/10/2012 15:30

Spotty, i got a tummy control one from Primark for £8 and cut out the internal panel - go for the ones with ruched sides like maternity tee shirts have, and go up a couple of sizes. Not sure if Primark still gave them but Tesco near me did on Saturday for £14 :)

HoneyMum21 · 01/10/2012 15:36

Spotty dunno if it is of any help but just been browsing the m and s website and they have a maternity tankini in the sale [http://www.marksandspencer.com/Maternity-Nautical-Striped-Bandeau-Tankini/dp/B004Y2BRRU?ie=UTF8&ref=sr_1_30&nodeId=42966030&sr=1-30&qid=1349101896 here]

thanks for well wishes- off to dr now!

HoneyMum21 · 01/10/2012 15:37

sorry - didnt get link right here

FriendofDorothy · 01/10/2012 15:40

Try ebay for swimsuits.

EggsMichelle · 01/10/2012 15:40

Left work early, not feeling well mixed with back and bump ache. Curled up with dog on the bed watching The Good Life and hoping for sleep. Also (tmi) I've got a very upset tummy, I'm going to need some sudocreme Sad

Clarella · 01/10/2012 15:46

Oh honey hope the doc sorts you out, does not sound good.

Yeay queen! I tailed off for a while when feeling crap but trying to get back into it. And I've said before and will say again - crap at front crawl but using a kick board both wobbles the fluid and cramps out of cankles plus warms up my hips for breast stroke. That reminds me I was going to try and go later!

I have a long body so can't cope with normal swim cossies, and as we swim with the kids at school as well as for pleasure seem to get through a few so spend this time of year scooping up random tankini tops and shorts bottoms in sales - if they're black or a plain colour you can mix n match, or add bikini top. In sales they can be just a few quid. I've gone up a size on boobs and bot but seems ok for bump. M and s do good ones as do next, issme, etc etc.

Cobbler couldn't do but a wee birdie told me where to try Wink can't afford new boots for a while! (Regretting EVER ditching my doc martyns now)

SpottyTeacakes · 01/10/2012 15:53

Thanks for the tips ill have a look Smile eBay was no good when I looked before but might be different now. Definitely can't wear a normal bikini due to my 'fluffy tummy' Blush would need to do some pruning before swimming!! Blush

SpottyTeacakes · 01/10/2012 15:56

Oh EggsMichelle hope you feel better, you can take diocalm in pregnancy if you need to. I had an upset stomach/stomach ache the other day for a good few hours and I swear it was the position of the baby causing my bowel to spasm the kicks were really horrible!

monsterchild · 01/10/2012 16:27

spotty I hear you on the fuzzy tummy. I think actually growing a winter coat!

monsterchild · 01/10/2012 16:34

That should read I think I am growing a winter coat

2blessed · 01/10/2012 16:42

Sorry to read about those of you who are not feeling well. spotty and monster I'm really fuzzy on the tummy as well.
Have just been reading a great thread in childbirth called 'clever little tips' will definitely be taking notes from that

HoneyMum21 · 01/10/2012 17:02

Back from dr- officially managed to cough so hard I have cracked a rib. Off work for a week and got codeine and hot water bottle!

Secondsop · 01/10/2012 17:14

Oh honey that sounds really painful; hope the codeine and hot water bottle help. eggs hope you feel better soon too.

SpottyTeacakes · 01/10/2012 17:22

Oh no! Hope feel better soon Honey

Just been on the phone to the solicitors the bloke who crashed into us is still refusing to give his number plate. If this goes to court he will lose so why not just accept it?! I really don't need the stress Sad

kate2boysandabump · 01/10/2012 17:42

honey that's terrible! Poor you. If you're taking codeine it might make you constipated, just to add to your woes. I took it after an op and couldn't go for a week Blush

eggs that was me last week, takes a lot out of you, more time on the sofa may be needed Smile

Hope you both feel better soon.

I'm a big fan of swimming while pregnant, I'm sure it's what has kept me off the crutches and still on my feet so far. For those that do have bad pelvis's/backs, breast stroke really isn't a good idea. It puts lots of strain on the joints your trying to protect, if you can't manage front crawl, use a kick board to keep yourself moving. Swimming is also good for getting babies into a good position for delivery, all good Smile

EggsMichelle · 01/10/2012 17:45

Wow Honey, I understand that cracked ribs are painful, but I'm always quite impressed by the force we can put on our bodies, in your case breaking bones by coughing! Thanks Spotty for the advice, Shrimpy has been especially uncomfortable today, can't decide which is responsible.

My matalan swimming costume is great, I look like a giant strawberry Campino, although not great for big boobs, risk of exposure!

Stacks · 01/10/2012 18:27

For those of you with coughs that just won't go away, it may be worth talking to your doc about whooping cough. Apparently the only sign in adults that its WC is a cough which lasts an unusually long time. Not sure if there is a treatment for it though?

Clarella · 01/10/2012 18:28

Oh dear honey, rest up and get well soon - though I'm sure it ll be more than a week?? At least you can sleep, sleep sleep with no guilt. Codine also bungs me up so keep the prunes and lactulose handy! Can also make me feel sort of warm and snoozy (which can be nice!) What did they say about the cough though - doesn't sound like its getting any better?

Spotty, that is very odd and stressful, try and let the solicitors deal with it though - he is certainly digging a hole for himself.

All the swim talk forced me to go swimming which id dithered over - very glad - however serious issues folding over to attempt any sort of foot/shoe/sock/jeans dressing - baby is totally wedged under ribs playing footy with my stomach so that I'm having to sit bolt upright. I'm surprised, I thought id be bigger when that happens. Yoga is not gonna go smoothly tonight!

PurplePidjin · 01/10/2012 19:29

I'm sat in my car waiting to be less early for my interview 11 minutes!

Cookiesandcream06 · 01/10/2012 19:30

honey that sounds horrific you poor thing, plenty of rest and really hope you feel better soon.
spotty what a dick!! I had an accident a few years back and the driver dragged it out for ages claiming it wasn't his fault and I had no witnesses so was really stressed and worried (and not like i was preg at the time!)- but in the end justice was done and he was found to be guilty before it went to court, I know it's really hard but please try not to worry yourself, you need to be looking after yourself (easier said than done i know!) but i wish you the best of luck with it all.
So jealous of all the swimming talk- i genuinely think it's saved me this pregnancy. However with work and DP working 14 hour days 7 days a week I haven't had the chance for the past two weeks. And tonight I think a very early night is on the cards as I feel as though i've been hit by a bus again with tiredness/general body aches. Hormones have upped a notch as I cried three times at work today and my face resembles either a dot-to-dot or a 15 year old boy's skin. V uppsetting as my skin has really done me proud this pregnancy. Deff tired and not a radiant glow!!
Exciting pram news strawberry, what one did you go for in the end? is anyone else worried that when they finally get theirs delivered after all this time they wnt like it anymore and wish they got a different one?!
hope you feel better soon eggs that does sound v sucky indeed. Keep drinking water and make sure you get some sympathy/TLC.
Ahh I'll stop rambling now..

SpottyTeacakes · 01/10/2012 20:46

Whoever said their dh didn't get to feel many kicks because baby mainly kicks when on your side try some naked spooning. Dp always gets kicks in the back Grin
