Although, the car business has been eclipsed by the fact that we found the perfect wardrobe for the baby's room at a local antiques place, but when they delivered it they couldn't get it up the stairs (well the real problem was getting it round the bend at the bottom of the stairs). The delivery men tried their hardest even taking the doors off, probably because they saw that I was about to cry.

Oh bad day seconsop Sad I'm completely at the end of my tether with wanker drivers I really can't handle it! We live in the middle of nowhere and this afternoon driving back I had some stupid woman in a 4x4 really close to me and she nearly went into the back of me when I had to stop fairly suddenly to let someone come this other way (which happens often on the narrow lanes). Then an elderly man was driving at me in the middle of the road so I had to slam my brakes on again, and again 4x4 woman nearly went into the back of me! Sorry for mini rant Blush

Having chicken Caesar salad for dinner tonight, with pita. Feeling a bit lazy! Only three more weeks at work, and the boss is away for two of them!

Welcome zoe :)

Secondsop · 13/10/2012 16:36

I don't know what to have for dinner. I am just feeling so rubbish today. We were hoping to do lots of getting-ready-for-the-baby stuff but have achieved sod all. I can't believe I'm saying this but I might need to go to IKEA to salvage the day.

Mummycox · 13/10/2012 17:11

Welcome Zoe.

Mum came down to see houses, we may have found one - they just need the man who has visited their house 5 Times to actually put a bid in now. So the downstairs loo didn't get painted, but i did see mum.

DH buggered off to football again, he is the manager, but still. What to have for tea?

SpottyTeacakes · 13/10/2012 17:39

I'm a football widow too Mummycox!

Secondsop · 13/10/2012 19:09

Went to Aldi for the first ever time today. Quite liked it! Stocked up on their nappies that I hear are very good.

annelid · 13/10/2012 19:34

Welcome Zoe! I'm due 20th with DS4.

Barbeasty · 13/10/2012 20:00

Second- it was me that said it goes in 3s. Glad she managed to stop.

Spotty- I find I'm a bit jumpy now. Yesterday morning I followed DH to the garage to clear my car out, and he thought it was really funny to pretend to reverse when we were sitting in traffic. He understood how much I hate that now when I was flinching at cars getting close to each other on the motorway yesterday.

Clarella- yes, we got back at 9pm yesterday (4.5hrs for an 80 mile motorway trip). So got to bed at 11. Then slept until 8am, which I don't think I've done since DD was born! Of course, that made it a mad rush to get to the last NCT class today.

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 13/10/2012 20:04

I'm a boxing widow tonight. Dcs have decided they are having a sleepover tonight so they're both in dd's room. Let's see how long that lasts!

Has anyone found a good wardrobe for a child's room? I'd like something that will last beyond childhood, After today's stairway debacle I need to find something flat pack rather than the original idea of something lovely second-hand made from solid wood. I really want something half-hanging and half-shelving. I might end up having to get a full-hanging wardrobe and the ikea wardrobe tidy that's on wheels.

Mummycox · 13/10/2012 20:31

Spotty Wouldn't mind as much if they hadn't had such a shocking start to the season. Anyway, Chinese and SCD made up for it - almost. Hopes yours had a better day.

Seconds we are really happy with our Rialto wardrobe from mamas and papas, 2 hanging rails and lots of space, flat pack and really easy to put together.

SpottyTeacakes · 13/10/2012 20:35

Dp was late home because they all had to have a half hour 'chat' after losing. Do they not realise some of them have lives?!

I'm really uncomfortable tonight Sad went on my ball for a bit but just felt like I was going to wet myself probably did a bit Blush

utopian99 · 13/10/2012 20:36

Have you looked at habitat? Beautiful modern design and their furniture is flat pack.. Not the cheapest but if you're looking for something to last for decades and have the budget they're well worth it, or you could try ebaying

Secondsop · 13/10/2012 20:47

mummycox thank you - does the Rialto have shelving as well as hanging?

utopian I must confess habitat had completely fallen off my radar in recent years but I will have a look at them now.

Mummycox · 13/10/2012 21:11

Going to sulk for a moment... He's staying out cos it was his birthday this week and they've bought him silly drinks. I asked him three times before he went out if he was staying out and each time he said no. Had I known I would have done something myself. Cross doesn't cover it. Rant over, sorry.

Seconds Ours didn't come with but there are three holes either side at various levels so no doubt they could do. Perhaps other versions do? Habitat though... Why did I not think of there?!

ellliebelle · 13/10/2012 21:19

Hi ladies seconds sorry to hear of the near mish. Ive jad quite a nice day went shopping with my mum this morning got some bits for my hospital bag and had a costa :) then home to find dh had cleaned the car out and finished the cleaning at home.

Then did some ou study which wasnt much fun but finished when i could smell dh cooking fajitas :) now feeling a bit sorry for myself as im all achey :(

EggsMichelle · 13/10/2012 21:37

I'm struggling to find a cotbed I like. We have a mosses basket so Shrimpy has somewhere to sleep, and got draws instead of a wardrobe, but I want a white or natural cotbed with a draw underneath, with a budget of £200. My brain is literally exploding with different cots and I can't focus on any long enough to pick one, grrrr!

JoJoB77 · 13/10/2012 21:42

Evening

Welcome Zoe Smile

Well i'm another car accident casualty Sad. I was waiting at an island, stationary, when the woman behind went straight into me. The force was unbelievable and so loud too. There doesnt appear to be any damage to our car but hers was old & could be a write off. I whacked my head off the headrest & was pretty shook up but feeling ok i think. I'll see how achy i am tomoro Confused. Luckily DD was ok too, just a bit shocked at being woken up!

My DH has gone to bed so i'm consoling myself with twiglets.

Hope all ok, will carch up properly tomoro Smile

Secondsop · 13/10/2012 21:51

jojo : how absolutely awful. Really hope all is ok.

Mummycox · 13/10/2012 21:54

eggs east coast angelina is the "which" preferred cot... Precious little one has a sale on and free delivery.

WeeJo08 · 13/10/2012 21:54

Oh no JoJo hope you're okay - get lots of rest & sympathy. Be gentle with yourself x

Welcome Zoe! I am 32 weeks (on Monday) with our first. Due on 10th of December. We found out at 20 week scan that we're (apparently!) having a girl but we'll still check for dingly dangly bits on arrival day! Grin

I can't remember who provided the link for the Good Food recipe books but thank you :) Thanks I've downloaded them all now!

PIL here until tomorrow and we've just had a nice chilled out day. We were going to go and see a show tonight but we've instead got fish & chips and stayed in & watched Strictly Grin

EggsMichelle · 13/10/2012 22:06

Oh JoJo there must be some kind of flashing sign over pregnant ladies cars that we don't know about that are drawing other drivers to use like moths! Eat all the twigglets you need (however discussing they are!)

Thanks Mummycox I will investigate those cots

Secondsop · 13/10/2012 22:21

Yes, this thread has had particularly bad luck with cars (well, other drivers). Here's hoping that's ENOUGH bad luck for everyone now.

Eek, found a great child's wardrobe on John Lewis that could be used forever but is a bit pricey for us, but there's an ex display one on eBay for half price, that can be dismantled so avoiding the stairwell issue. Have asked about the courier costs to where I am. I really hope I get it.

ellliebelle · 13/10/2012 22:55

Good luck seconds. I really want some drawers for the baby. He/she will be having our dd's wardrobe and eventually her matching single bed and tbe dd's are getting bunks and new matching wardrobes. The drawers i wanted to match the wardrobe are no longer sold and the closest match i can find is the mamas and papas ocean range which is way out of our budget :(

ellliebelle · 13/10/2012 22:56

jojo hope you are ok. All these accidents are making me scared to get in a car :(
