Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
SpottyTeacakes · 12/10/2012 18:00

CHINESE! Yum!

Barbeasty · 12/10/2012 18:18

Bella last time I was measuring 3 weeks small about now, brought in for extra appointments, and about 3 weeks later I was 2 weeks big. DD was 9lb.

Also have a friend who smiles and nods after being told all 3 measure small. All over 9 lb (2 over 10lb!)

Would love to be in pub or getting Chinese (the plan for tonight) but stuck on a closed motorway for an hour now and still an hour from.home when we get going again.

SpottyTeacakes · 12/10/2012 18:22

Oh no Barbeasty pick something up on the way home when you finally get going. Hope it's not a bad accident

PurplePidjin · 12/10/2012 18:23

Slingmeet today was ace, really useful to chat with people that little bit further ahead. I'll probably hire an Ergo for dp and make myself a stretchy wrap, at least to start with.

Clarella, I'm confused. You're a day or two ahead as me but I'm only 7 1/2 by my calculations (from the 24th of each month) Am i doing it wrong?

SpottyTeacakes · 12/10/2012 18:49

I have got the most digsuting massive veins popping up in my hands, my hands look like that of a ninety year old, what's that all about?!

Flumpy2012 · 12/10/2012 19:09

Me too spotty! And my feet too!! Veins everywhere. I look like a map!

Envious of all those indulging in Chinese. Envy

SpottyTeacakes · 12/10/2012 19:11

Don't be Flumpy the sauces make your sugar levels go right up and the high fat content delays the post dinner spike, almost seems like too much hassle......almost Wink

Clarella · 12/10/2012 19:14

Might be me pidg, I go by weeks and group in fours (primary teacher in me?!) rather than calendar, maybe I'm 7.5? Ha! probably wrong way to do it! It's also cos every blood test I've had is exactly 4 weeks apart both slapped cheek and thyroid but they say monthly tests. And then DH is always telling me I get smp calculations wrong and I get really confused..... I never understood when people told me weeks and needed months so translate as such to some (male martial arts enthusiasts) and 8.5 sounds more impressive when I occasionally manage to do a hand stand on wall at yoga ;) (on Monday though, not yet!) don't do yourself out of a hard earned month if possible!

It's a good question though, thinking about it maybe I am doing it all wrong!

Clarella · 12/10/2012 19:14

Pidg, was ergo good for tiny baby?

PurplePidjin · 12/10/2012 19:31

For weeks i go Friday to Friday - first day of LMP. For calendar months i go 24th to 24th - date of first day of LMP. Bit like weekly and monthly rent... Otherwise DD would be 10 months? I suppose it is, in the lunar calendar

Clarella, i didn't really get a chance to find out as we were near the end, but i suggested i would consider hiring it for dp (immensely uncomfortable on me, all the clips were under my arms!) and no objections were raised - the organiser is very good at guiding you to what is and isn't suitable :)

Clarella · 12/10/2012 19:43

Am I maybe doing luna months? If calendar months it was 7 and half this last Monday and 8 on the 22nd. Oops!

Apparently in the olden days, women would look at the state of the moon and then count how many times they saw that moon again to keep track but can't remember if they looked each period or or when they thought they'd missed one or how many they counted...

Barbeasty · 12/10/2012 19:50

Well we're moving at least. But after 3hrs to do about 30 miles we're heading for Bristol as the "quick" route!

Have to collect DD on the way back (thankfully from MIL, not nursery!) so Chinese will be late.

But on the plus side I've put the deposit down on a new car. Get to see what the replacement courtesy car is when we get home...

I think 4-weekly too, but that's how I'm paid. So definitely a work thing.

PurplePidjin · 12/10/2012 19:52

Lunar months are 28 days, solar months = calendar months. I think Confused

Clarella · 12/10/2012 19:55

Ah for weeks I go Monday to Monday which is what the mws do, but is that cos due date is a Monday? but my lmp was a weds, Confused x10 - I had a 25/26 day cycle, and was dated by scans same as was calculated by online thingys as 26th Nov but mw originally said Dec 1st (hence being on this thread!)

Maybe I should just start saying - baby due next month!?! Arggghhh!

PurplePidjin · 12/10/2012 20:01

I'm the same, original calculation had me at 2/12, readjusted to 30/11 at 12w scan. I just say "end of next month, but you know what babies are like" and roll my eyes!

Clarella · 12/10/2012 20:25

That still sounds scary impressive!

Looks like ergo have a,little soft insert for little babies, I think I saw a mum with one months ago (calendar, lunar and solar ;) ) with the flap over babies head whilst he slept and went all gooey :)

I may not need to worry too much anymore about leading DH and sling to water he's just texted seeing a couple shopping in town with baby in sling and how cute it was, and this is during an actual mates birthday/football match drinking sesh. My jaw on floor. (better be in by 11 mind as bf workshop tomorrow)

EggsMichelle · 12/10/2012 20:55

If I went by LMP I'd be 10months already!!! Managed to skip two periods and still get pregnant, confused the GP no end when booking in!

Seconds we were planning to go to San Diego Comic Con next year (dressed in Venture Bro attire Hmm) but reconsidering spending 15+ hrs on a plane with a 7month old, will probably just go to Skegness!

I love the idea of having a sling, but the amount of discomfort I have on my back now, I'll be glad to put him in a pushchair and spare my back!

utopian99 · 12/10/2012 21:15

clarella great news on your DH's football-drinking induced sling turnaround! Mine is a soppy one so has been keen to wear the Crumb for a while, though I confess it looked seriously odd seeing him in one in mamas and papas (we have the flex - soft and no fancy bits) Having met in uni and been through much booze/fancy-dress fuelled idiocy together, I still find it weird thinking either of us are in anyway old enough to be responsible parents.. Hmm

MyDaydream · 12/10/2012 21:42

I work 20th to 20th to work out how many months I am, DP keeps getting confused because he does the 4 week thing so thinks I'm much further. Week by week I do Thursday to Thursday since that's the day I'm due. Although really I can never remember so if someone asks I pull a blank face and guess.
I finally got a coat today! I had a bit of a sulk in town because there are al many pretty dresses out at the minute that won't fit and my local Dorothy Perkins has taken out its maternity section. But a trip to tk maxx resulted in a lovely coat that will expand over bump but still fit for non-pregnant winters too! Was so happy to find it I got lots of smiles from other shoppers because I was beaming and bouncing around like a mad woman.

PurplePidjin · 12/10/2012 22:00

I conceived at the end of February, therefore I'm nearly 8 months. Over-simplification works for me!

My jaw was on the floor a couple of weeks ago when we went to a local town, split up for an hour so i could go to a particular fabric shop, then got back and dp told me all about the 5 week old he'd met... But then he's a soppy bugger on the quiet Wink

FriendofDorothy · 12/10/2012 22:05

I feel enormous today. It's like my bump has suddenly expanded and I feel like I am a massive waddling duck!

Clarella · 12/10/2012 22:12

Well done on coat daydream, I'm finding it quite liberating knowing that nothing fits - window shopping had never seemed oddly pointless!

Hope you're home barbeasty? I once got stuck for 6 hours on my own on the m73 crawling at literally a snail pace and had to do a wee in a tupperware tub at the wheel - couldn't stop car, no-one to take over, had to go... dread that sort of thing happening with a baby in car over Xmas .

I'm sticking to weeks from now on, let some other poor bugger do the maths!

Secondsop · 12/10/2012 22:24

eggsmichelle my husband would kill to go to San Diego comic con. Maybe in a few years...

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 12/10/2012 22:25

Clarella if you are due late nov then I think you are nearly 8 months (as you still have the rest of oct and then the bit in nov to go.

I go by weeks and months, the whole thing is 40 weeks do I (on Sunday) only have 9 weeks left. By months my dd is 16th of dec so I've got 2 months to go, therefore I am 7 months.

Utter non-sequiteur but on another thread someone's pointed out that for a limited time if you want you can download all the BBC good food books on your smartphone (and I assume tablets) for free... (have been lurking on the cooking thread as am planning to try to sort lots of foodie gifts for people this year, plus make christmas cake/pudding as I'll probably hand over the actual dinner-making reins to my mother if crumb arrives anything like on time!)
