Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Have you collected it spotty ? We still haven't , I hope i love it as much when I do! I haven't seen one since so I'm scared incase haha. But no such a good price, i'm glad I got the carry cot too. What colour did you go for?

That's good getting a second opinion from DM. Keeps you away from google too. My best friends mum is a nurse and she gave me a lecture about WC vaccine y'day- then told me it's not available in our county yet. She isn't so useful!

Hello all. Glad to hear good news of bumps dropping and pushchair purchasing. We're being lent a pushchair and can choose between a quinny buzz or a phil&ted. Advantage of quinny buzz: we can get a carseat for it. Advantage of phil&ted (that is what they're called, aren't they?) is that it's better for when not driving as it comes with one of those baby carry bag things. We're going to look at them both and decide.

Went back to work today after a month off for back and hip pain! Managed the full day fine including the walk to the station. Think the baby might have moved down as I'm feeling pelvic pain/pressure instead of back pain, but it's a lot more manageable than the back pain. I've also controlled my sugars fine today: a bit high (7.2) at breakfast, but 5.8 after lunch which was pizza express lasagne! Am wondering if I'm one of those people who is more insulin-resistant in the morning (breakfast was 1 long slice of dark rye bread, and 2 scrambled eggs with cheese).

SpottyTeacakes · 10/10/2012 19:10

Mmm jacket and chilli my favourite!

Cookies it's out of stock for four weeks which is why I ordered it now, I can't risk it going out of stock again! I've gone for black on black but haven't got the carry cot, we have to drive to get anywhere at all so it seemed more sensible to just use the car seat. I've got the buggy board to go with it too but got that on eBay.

Secondsop in pregnancy you get a big surge of hormones in the morning which can really effect sugar levels. If you're finding they're too high (which 7 isn't too bad) you could try a carb free breakfast?

SpottyTeacakes · 10/10/2012 19:11

Honey I'm completely clueless about the tests they do, much easier that way Grin

Secondsop · 10/10/2012 19:21

Spotty the dietician told me I had to have a portion of carbs with every meal. Otherwise I'd very happily have a carb-free breakfast - hard to say no to bacon and eggs after all!

HoneyMum21 · 10/10/2012 19:22

Yes Spotty - I wish I hadnt looked at all the potential problems!

Clarella · 10/10/2012 20:06

Sorry to just pop on quick q, would any of you accept a second hand mandela (sp?!) electric breast pump??

Don't know whether to go Eww or Yeay! A friend from yoga, don't know that well but she's just given me tonnes of (funky French) baby clothes etc (will need to sort thru) and offered the pump too...

SpottyTeacakes · 10/10/2012 20:10

There have been problems with it Clarella because it doesn't have a closed system it can get mouldy where it can't be sterilised properly. Plenty of people do get second hand ones though. Ill try find a link so you can make up your own mind Smile

WeeJo08 · 10/10/2012 20:13

Hi all, anther human pin cushion here. Had acupuncture yesterday, followed by the whopping cough and flu jabs. Arms are so bloody sore, it was impossible to get comfy in bed last night and today I am just generally aching (plus the sore arms) and have a headache. Booooo :(

On a positive note, had good appointment with MW today. Measuring spot on, bloods were all fine, no nasties in my wee and heartbeat was really strong, which was great. Have been booked in for my birth centre assessment next month, so they just check if I'm still low risk. Keeping everything crossed.

Seconds We got the Quinny Buzz too. Got it second hand from a friend.

Are you guys getting Moses baskets? If yes, which would you recommend?

SpottyTeacakes · 10/10/2012 20:15

link

SpottyTeacakes · 10/10/2012 20:17

I would just get any muses basket you like WeeJo I'm sure they're all the same! We got one with a rocking stand though so I could lay in bed with one arm out to rock the grunting gremlin back to sleep at three in the morning!

Secondsop · 10/10/2012 20:21

weejo I wasn't going to get a moses basket - we'll have the cot in our room so will just pop him in there. If he hates the cot because it's too big then we'll get one, but it's equally possible he'll hate the basket for being too enclosed for him.

I've had my flu jab but not my whooping cough jab yet. Flu jab was done when i popped into the day assessment centre to get something checked out, and they asked if i wanted it done while i was there. For the first year ever, the flu jab didnt leave me with a sore arm! Must be because of the particular antibodies in the vaccine for the strains they're vaccinating against this year.

MyDaydream · 10/10/2012 20:29

Didn't even get to eat all my dinner, my mum called me and we talked until it went cold! My hand hurts but DP is on his way home to give me sympathy. About to go heat him some up with rice so another chance to burn myself!
weejo I got a second hand Moses cheap in a bundle with my crib, but wouldn't pay full price for one I don't think, I'm not sure how much use it'll get because its just so big and heavy.

minipie · 10/10/2012 20:32

I've got a Moses basket WeeJo but I borrowed it from a friend so it's free, just paid about £8 for a new mattress for it. It's a Mamas and Papas one. There are usually lots on gumtree/ebay etc for cheap.

We have set up our cot as a bedside cot, so if DD prefers that then I guess I'll use the Moses basket downstairs for naps, or maybe at the grandparents house. Or she might prefer being enclosed and want the moses basket all the time. Anything to help her sleep more Smile

Clarella · 10/10/2012 21:29

Thanks spotty!

Mummycox · 10/10/2012 21:46

Had midwife appointment today, am measuring 32 weeks which is correct but measuring 2 weeks ahead still. Would appear that I'm a short arse having a normal sized bambino. Having another scan, ho hum.

Thank you for the advice on bottles.

EggsMichelle · 10/10/2012 22:15

I don't trust Dr Google to diagnosis anything, last time I did I convinced myself I had throat cancer when it was gastric reflux! DM has decided the head has dropped down which means an accurate measurement is impossible to get with the tape measure, panic overted!

We go our Moses basket free off a family member, such a waste of money to buy brand new when you might only use it for 6wks, tesco sells the mattress for £7 so bargain! I've bid on a car seat base, fingers crossed we win.

WeeJo08 · 10/10/2012 22:19

Thanks for the advice, ladies. There's a chance a friend of mine will donate her Moses basket to us as her wee girl will have outgrown it by then so I might keep my fingers crossed for that!

Clarella · 10/10/2012 22:26

Very informative link spotty, thanks - think my initial reaction of Eww was right in this case! I'm all for a bit of bacteria for stretching the immune system but not in this case :)

We were going to try the donated brio bedside cot in our room but have also now been offered a Moses basket too so might borrow to see, at least for maybe downstairs during the day. I think I saw quite cheap ones in Argos, as in £25 which id going to use as a back up plan before offered this one.

Re measurements and glucose - I've had sugar in my wee every single mw appt, but as the 28 wk blood test had really good levels no gtt - theyve told me my kidneys just leak sugar (which Dr Google says 'just happens in some people') every time I get a very non plussed reaction. Also, my measurements have fallen on bottom line, then top, then middle (34wk appt next wk) which I thought fine, but last mw said they usually see them above the top line (cue a week of really pigging out worried not big enough) I reckon our bodies are all v different (i can't wear swimsuits long body) that its such a hard thing to judge as 'normal'.

Here's to a heartburn free, aching tummy/arms/ribs/hips free, insomnia free, noisey neighbour free night all round xx

Flumpy2012 · 10/10/2012 23:21

Hadn't had dinner and bg was 8.4! Why is it so high all the time. Makes me feel super thirsty tired and sick Sad

Secondsop · 11/10/2012 00:37

flumpy ring your diabetic clinic (I assume your antenatal care is through them now?) and see what they say. They do say that the insulin resistance can increase as the pregnancy develops. I was told that if my sugars werent being controlled through diet or if the diet was proving not to work with my lifestyle, that they were there to help and would discuss medication options rather than just leaving me with a continual battle with the food. Really hope you manage to get it under control x

emilyeggs · 11/10/2012 04:18

Been awake an hour now. Not in pain, dont have hart burn, just awake. Oh well may as well get up and make a cuppa. Got to be up at six. Not really that bothered about sleep anymore, don't think I need a lot as I've never slept well. At least when bubs is hear I'll have some company Grin

Walnut8 · 11/10/2012 05:42

Youre coping well emily, I go nuts without sleep. You'll be well prepared for the newborn stage!!

Thanks for the advice Spotty. I know it may be fluid and I haven't put on any weight in the last 2 weeks (dropped some actually I think), so I'm not sure what that's all about, but just wondering if I've just had the big growth spurt that I had last time at about 36 weeks. Still a bit anxious about growth scan and blood tests. Get so anxious about EVERYTHING when I'm pregnant, I know it's mostly hormones but still. Also wondering if that will mean I'll be early with this one!! (hopefully not before the wedding I'm due at in 5 weeks time?!)

EggsMichelle · 11/10/2012 06:48

Thanks Clarella, I suppose there is no such thing as a perfect "follow the line" pregnancy, and not everything spells danger!

Just been brave and weighed myself for the first time since 24wks, total gain of 2st Blush but since that's only half a st since 24wks, that's not too bad I suppose!!!

Dreamed one of my colleagues was trying to kill me in my grandma's old house, very vivid and scary!

PurplePidjin · 11/10/2012 09:02

Aaaaaaaargh don't know how long i can take the chaos! Millie cat is pacing and yowling and doing giant smelly shits in the living room (shut away while work is done, in her tray thank fuck), my fridge is rattling away, i have to wash up by hand lazy slattern because the dw is in here too, all the furniture from 5 rooms is piled up around me in the lounge and bedroom, something under my bump went "twing" yesterday and aches and i have my jabs at 12:10.

And i have work tonight (yay!) so can't get it all sorted till tomorrow morning!

Aaaaaaaargh!!!!!
