Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Barbeasty · 05/10/2012 17:20

I'm ok, and we've just been into the maternity unit and the heartbeat is fine. No movement for a while, but I've just got to monitor movement over the next 24hrs.

Been for another look at the car though and it's pretty damaged. The lady realised she'd forgotten her handbag and was going to turn around. But goodness knows where she was planning to turn.

Secondsop · 05/10/2012 17:33

Glad to hear you're ok Barbeasty.

SpottyTeacakes · 05/10/2012 17:49

Oh Barbeasty poor you. Do you think it's a write off?

Mummycox · 05/10/2012 18:02

Wtf was she thinking... On a scale of 1 to 10, that's probably a 10. Stupid cow. Hope you're ok.

Barbeasty · 05/10/2012 18:05

I think borderline. I'll try and post the picture I took of it later. There was oil on the road and it looks like the engine might have been shoved back, radiator smashed.

And I've felt movement now, so I'm just waiting to really stiffen up.

Of course it's a busy weekend ahead, with my brother's wedding meal tomorrow (he went of to Cuba a couple of weeks ago to actually get married). Then the breastfeeding session of the NCT course Sunday morning and DD's swimming lesson that afternoon. Thankfully I don't have to drive.

SpottyTeacakes · 05/10/2012 18:14

My car didn't look too bad unfortunately though once you put labour costs in it soon adds up. Fingers crossed for you that it can be fixed, I hope you're not in any pain from the seatbelt or anything?

Secondsop · 05/10/2012 18:14

That is a busy weekend - hope you've got a bit of time to rest and put your feet up amongst it all.

emilyeggs · 05/10/2012 18:14

Hope your ok barbeasty. Stupid cow that woman is!Angry

kate2boysandabump · 05/10/2012 18:47

There's been action all round here today.

Barbeasty Hope that you and your DD are OK. It amazes me how people just don't look when they're in a car!! Hope you have a good time at the wedding tomorrow too Smile

Stacey Your MIL was very thoughtless, but I'm sure it doesn't mean that she's not excited about the baby. I've told my family they aren't getting Christmas presents this year. How do you think she's take that? Grin There's no right or wrong time to have a baby, you just have to do your best with the hand you've been dealt. Hope your aches ease soon.

Flumpy you've been offered some really good advice here. I think it would be wise to follow it.

Seconds Your midwife only gave you half the advice!! You're supposed to keep your legs together when you're doing things as well, like getting in and out of bed and the car. Also, keeping asymmetric movements, like going up and down stairs to a minimum. Most of the the treatment for SPD/PGP is about limiting the damage with advice about movement, they can only treat the joints if they are misaligned or the muscles if they are in spasm. I've given myself, as of now, 6 extra weeks mobility to last time, by following the advice about movement. It is a bit of extra faff, I often have to park miles away so that I can open the door fully to get in and out, but I guess that's good practice for being full term when you really can't squeeze out of the car Grin

I'm collecting my pram tomorrow, very excited. Only a few more bits to get and then we're set.

Secondsop · 05/10/2012 19:06

Thanks for the SPD info kate - i have a physio referral coming up as my problem has been more my back and hips than my pelvis so I'm hoping they can give me some advice on movement to maximise mobility for the rest of the pregnancy.

For those of you that have had scans at (say) 28 weeks etc, what have been the estimated weights of your babies? I know it's notoriously inaccurate and far from an exact science; mine has come in at 3.3lb at 29 weeks and the sonographer didn't say anything about it but I don't have a feel for whether that's normal, big or small.

SpottyTeacakes · 05/10/2012 19:16

Mine was 2lb13 at 27+6 Secondsop

PurplePidjin · 05/10/2012 19:21

Anyone watching Hollyoaks? Sad

HoneyMum21 · 05/10/2012 19:49

We had 3lb 4 at just under 30 weeks and she said it was smack bang on average

MaMaPo · 05/10/2012 20:28

This place is so busy. I hope everyone is doing OK, whether it's recovering from car collisions, insensitive inlaws or tricky relationships.

I have to add myself to the list of poor women with lower back/hip/pelvic pain. I've been doing so well, but yesterday I got a flareup of a type of pain I've had before. Luckily I work in a hospital and one of the physios diagnosed it (across the room, without an examination, but I think she's bang on). It's sacroiliac joint pain, and so I need to do some exercises for it. Last time I had it treated, it cleared up relatively easily, so I'm hoping it will do so again this time. But I'm not surprised it has resurfaced, what will all the relaxin in the system and the added weight and pressure on my hips and pelvis. Who'd call this intelligent design!

Re NCT classes, Clarella your group sounds great! I don't know what anyone else in my course does for a living (I'm sure it will come out eventually) but there don't seem to be too many 'crunchy/hippy' parents there. I also feel like at 30 weeks I am doing the class quite early, but if I waited for the next intake I'd be around 38 weeks and there's a chance I'd miss the whole thing! I'm quite happy to be doing it now - gives us both a chance to digest and think about it all. We don't cover pain relief and complications until Monday, so until then I will continue to feel optimistic and excited about the process of labour! MIght as well!

mwahmwah · 05/10/2012 20:34

Yep, they estimated 7lb7oz for full term for me, that sounds relatively easy to push out. My fanjita must be like the Mersey tunnel after two kids anyway, it'll be like giving birth to a pea (I hope) Grin

cherrypiew3 · 05/10/2012 20:58

Barbeasty Sorry to hear about the car accident hope your feeling ok and that you enjoy your brothers wedding meal tomorrow.

Had a scan at 28 weeks and estimated weight was 2lb 8oz.
Feeling much better today but have been booked in for the whooping cough and flu jabs I hate needles.

Flumpy2012 · 05/10/2012 21:02

Hope everyone is ok, car collisions and pains and aches etc!

XP has declared his apologies and will seek professional help from next week. I await the results with baited breath!! He confessed to it being emotional abuse and understanding if I totally cut contact (manipulation)

Has anyone else had flu and whooping cough? I'm being a woos but my arm is so achey like someone has punched it really hard. Had b12 in the other and that's fine.

They estimated 2lb 4 at 28 weeks here and said she was a good weight. Smile 7lb would be perfect although I'm sure it won't feel it!!

HoneyMum21 · 05/10/2012 21:16

I know often with the weight estimation they under-estimate. Do they ever over estimate?

StrawberrytallCAKE · 05/10/2012 21:27

Pidj I was going to ask if you were watching hollyoaks this week. I am unhappy about much of what has occurred.

Hope you're ok barbeasty

PurplePidjin · 05/10/2012 21:39

Some pretty glaring inaccuracies, Strawberry - like Nancy being bigger than me yet 6 weeks behind. And the baby being nb sized and clearly wearing Pampers!

StrawberrytallCAKE · 05/10/2012 21:53

And the baby was in an open top incubator!! She seems to have been that big since 12 weeks? I wonder who researched pregnancy and birth for these scripts!

PurplePidjin · 05/10/2012 22:12

Remember the twins last year? Born in the spa, came out healthily pink, smiling and focussing?

All these babies, just abandoned with whichever neighbour happens to be stood still for 12 seconds. Little Bobby spent most of his formative months in a car seat while Riley played computer games ffs!

Secondsop · 05/10/2012 22:14

Thanks for all the baby weights - sounds like mine is not too big and not too small!

PurplePidjin · 05/10/2012 22:17

Just remembered - tip from my mum...

Sleep with the crib bumper for a week or two before the birth so baby can smell you. Blankets get washed, bumpers don't :)

ellliebelle · 05/10/2012 22:59
