Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
SpottyTeacakes · 04/10/2012 16:53

Nine days until maternity leave!! (I only do two days a week Wink)

Glad you're feeling better Flumpy Smile

Queenofsiburbia · 04/10/2012 16:55

ROFL at spotty's retort to wierd feely lady!!!!
Had me in stitches!Definitely going to say that to some Poe unsuspecting friend.

Spotty it's true about most men although my DH is kind of renowned for his lack of sympathy and selfish outlook. He had a nickname relating to it (from male friends!) at university which I can't share as I might out us both.

He is also kind and funny etc & has lots & lots of amazing & brilliant points and no doubt his selfishness explains why he has been so successful with his own company. But still Hmm !

Btw, most people in my NCT class were much further on than me. My DD was last. So don't worry I think they just fitted me on that one in case I'm early or something Confused

Clarella · 04/10/2012 17:55

Brilliant news pidg!

Re nct starting early - yep technically I'm a Nov edd Hmm

Shocking Emily. It will probably never happen again sadly or you will be more prepared with the constipation quip or even pat her on the bottom and say 'hello cake!'

Was mega chuffed that lovely young cobbler in town couldn't put new zip in cankled boots as inside edging bits were pvc despite rest being leather, but did just give the zipper a little wack with his hammer and voila! Fixed! The zipper had just parted a little so it didn't squash the teeth properly :) no charge :)

Also got a few more baby grows, breast pads and some lano thingy etc - maternity bag is beginning to take shape!

kate2boysandabump · 04/10/2012 18:38

Good news about your boots Clarella A freebie is always welcome.

Flumpy Vitamin K is offered to all newborns to prevent blood clotting disorders. Ask your midwife and she'll be able to tell you more, there might even be something in you maternity notes. My first 2 had it and this one will be too, better safe than sorry.

Really Angry on your behalf emily Why is it I can only think of suitable retorts hours after the event?

Barbeasty · 04/10/2012 18:57

Our NCT branch have 1.5 months of due dates on each course, and the split here is mid December. Although we have 1 woman due 23rd, me and then the rest are late Nov. If I'd done the refresher course it started next month.

Well the Dr was useless. Apparently SPD is just something we women have to put up with as there's nothing they can do. I think I'll wait and see the midwife unless it gets bad again in the meantime, then I'll see a different Dr!

But I am booked to have the whooping cough jab on Monday.

Great news about the heartbeat Pidj.

FriendofDorothy · 04/10/2012 19:54

SPD isn't something you have to put up with. Ask your midwife for a physio referral. I have been diagnosed with Pelvic Girdle Pain and they hare giving me a brace and physio to help.

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 04/10/2012 20:09

So pissed off!! Angry sorry ladies need to rant!

I'm majorly uncomfy and have had 2 baths today as its the only time I don't ache. DH had to stop at his mums as something was wrong with her DVD player. He came back pissed off because she'd asked him what he wanted for his birthday and he'd said money. Now we're not skint but with me being unable to work regular hours ATM things are tighter than normal. But there's nothing he wants/needs so cash would be best. So she's gone off on one about how we shouldnt be bringing a baby into the world right now! Angry for a start of it wasn't for baby I would still be working and second I love this little thing do much someone insinuating it shouldn't be here is more than I can take right now! Then she started off that we need to move somewhere cheaper Hmm all the time still telling us that our house is too small (normal 3 bed semi). Our house is about the cheapest in a 5 mile radius unless I feel the need to live in new addington or central croydon. Which I would not choose over being here!

I'm just so so Angry that she feels the need to look down on us. It doesn't help that bil and SIL who are also expecting are mega rich, so she tries comparing us to them. If we were to wait until we had their money we'd be dead before we had a baby!

Sorry again for the rant! Been in tears twice over this since 7pm!!

OP posts:
SpottyTeacakes · 04/10/2012 20:14

Oh stacey try to ignore her what a horrible thing to say! She obviously has nothing better to do than judge you for no reason.

My hip is agony tonight I can't even walk been laying in bed for an hour already. Maybe I will call in sick tomorrow Wink

HoneyMum21 · 04/10/2012 20:21

stacey sorry you're having such a rotten time of it. Would tucking yourself in with lots of pillows and hot water bottles help with your aching?

As for yor MIL, I'm not suprised you're angry. The only right time to ever bring a child into the world is when it is wanted as much as your LO clearly is. If we were waiting till we had what is deemed enough money to bring up a child we'd be dead first. Whereas by brother and SIL have plenty of money but cant get pregnant. There isn't a perfect time but as long as baby is wanted then that's the main thing. And if se would rather buy your DH something he doesn't want/need when he's told her what would be helpful then shes just being petty.

itsMYNutella · 04/10/2012 20:31

Stacey that is mean and downright rude! What an awful thing to say! Hope your DH had suitable words with her about it!!!
Honey is totally right - there is never a perfect time! and you can't always plan life so easily. We would be better off if I weren't pregnant because I too would be able to work more but we have three close relatives with no children (DP's two older brothers and his lovely cousin) and I'm pretty sure they would all willingly give up a decent chunk of what they do have for a baby.
Your MIL's silly mean comments don't help anyone! So Angry and Sad on your behalf!

Spotty I hope your hip feels better by sunday I think that if you rest it tomorrow (at home in bed) and then have the weekend to move gently that will do you the world of good :)

emilyeggs · 04/10/2012 20:44

What a cow stacey! My DH and I don't have much money but I'm 33 and personally don't want to wait any longer, just concentrate on the little person you are growing Smile

spotty sorry to hear you (and others) are in pain, I've got to the point now where it's painful to lay down for to long and my feet hurt stood at work all day.... Still, mat leave at the end if next month so just trying to get to that.

Hope all are as well as to be expected....i'm gonna stay behind my counter from know on to save another bump patting gate Grin

mwahmwah · 04/10/2012 20:46

Omg,how judgemental! What a nasty cow Angry

On a totally different subject, is anyone else seriously panicking about how close they are to having another little one? I am 28 weeks and have a mixture if excitement and utter dread. So worried about the reality of having three children. I know i'll cope bit I am frightened, its a scary time. I Judy think no-one really vocalises it if they are feeling anxious, and I for one, am bricking it!

mwahmwah · 04/10/2012 20:49

¤nasty cow was meant to be your mil Stacey btw! Crossed posts there!

Flumpy2012 · 04/10/2012 21:24

Poor Stacey and poor spotty!

Just had huge row with XP over trust. Stupid bloody hormones

I too am petrified of how close it is getting. 29weeks now! And after pre term labour scares I really worry it could be sooner than anticipated! I haven't been as scared as I thought I would be about doing it alone (probably v naive) I hope we'll just get into the swing (spend a month in pjs) with no one telling us we're doing it wrong all the time or irritating us!

Emotional wreck now and I just wish this heartburn would do one!!!!! Angry

cherrypiew3 · 04/10/2012 21:29

Pidg great news on the heartbeat.

StaceyHow horrible of your mil just try to ignore her and think about your lo.

I went food shopping this morning and when I got to the checkout I could just about stand up very uncomfortable. Got home put shopping away and had a little sit down. (tmi coming up) Then went for a wee when I wiped there was a very thick brown/yellow discharge. First thought was to ring mw but decided to see if it happened again. On the school pick up I came over very sick feeling came home had a nap and a bath. Although I now feel ok my back is killing and I feel like I constantly need to poo (tmi). I have felt baby move lots today. Anybody and ideas?

Barbeasty · 04/10/2012 21:30

Friend I know- 2 minutes on the NHS website clearly says it can be treated by physio and is best caught early. I will talk to the practice nurse when I go for my jab on Monday, and if she can't do anything I'll try and make an appointment for the midwife clinic on Wednesday (she has them once a week and I'm not due to see her until Halloween).

Spotty rest it! I'm lucky I can knit work from home and rest.

Stacey there's just no need for comments like that. I hope she's just being really clumsy in expressing concern, but really.

emilyeggs · 04/10/2012 21:49

flumpy sending hugs

emilyeggs · 04/10/2012 21:51

No idea cheery but maybe you should ring me tomorrow, hope your feeling ok

Secondsop · 04/10/2012 21:52

Everyone seems to be having a tough time at present :(

Hope things start looking up soon x

Cookiesandcream06 · 04/10/2012 22:24

cherry hope all is ok, it's their jobs to make sure everything is ok.
Poor stacy and spotty too, and hope you feel better soon flumpy hormones have been getting the better of me too this week.
Also starting to panic that it's the final 10 week countdown now (some of you must have needed 8!! (Utter shock emotion)
I am struggling this week.. Roll on mat leave! I'm leaving pretty damn early and as guilty as I feel I am very relieved, as taking a fair few weeks hols before my leave starts too. I feel as though everyone is hanging on til the last min ?! Am I just lazy ?!

Ahh too much to catch up on and only on my phone... Sorry to those I've missed!

Clarella · 05/10/2012 00:06

Oh so sorry to hear about your eve Stacey - and very well said honeymum and others. Timing financially isn't great for us but at 35 time isn't on my side! (I thought it would take a while. It took 1 month)

Hugs to flumpy - how frustrating both xp plus the heartburn and everything else. Mn will help keep you sane x

And so sorry again for all you spd sufferers, it really must be so wearing - I'm so puzzled as to why some of us get it and some don't? I had really cranky hips when not pregnant but they're the best they've ever been now (sorry!) (though other parts of me went crazy Grin ) I'm fully expecting them to seize up again post birth. Definately not something to put up with though. Spotty do as Dr nutella says, take a,day off and definately seek more help barbeasty

Ooo really not sure cherry, id phone someone, hope you feel better soon.

Nct all about pain relief tonight, very balanced info. And for honeymum - we have an anesthetist in our grp (plus 2 gps, a pharmacist and a cardiologist!) And she said all anesthetists get epidurals, the headache thing is v rare, and she's quite happy to get one if she feels its time/needed etc. And all the blokes enjoyed making their hands and biceps twitch with the tens machine. DH was first to try and hit the boost button first practically electrocuting himself, though we worked out he is very sensitive to it hence his reaction as all the other blokes of course had to try the boost button too and were fine. defo getting/hiring one, I liked it.

Hope everyone has a good night and feels brighter tomorrow x

They're also all getting the jabs, though anesthetist lady, who is 38 wks, said her docs only had 5 vaccines which were already allocated which she was rather cross about. I bizzarely had both today as they were literally delivered to the nurse just before I went into see her for a blood test and she was ready and waiting with the pile of needles!

emilyeggs · 05/10/2012 05:54

How long does indigestion last? I've never had it before but have a really bad pain in my chest from last night (after dinner around 10....I got in late from work) and it has kept me up all night in agony Sad

Walnut8 · 05/10/2012 06:32

pidg great news re heartbeat.

sorry for those suffering spd Sad I was told it is definitely best to be treated asap, and that if I get any twinges to go straight to the physio as it just gets worse if untreated.

stacey Sad Can't believe how judgmental and ridiculous your MIL is! Don't let her get to you.

cherry I agree with others, call your mw or hospital? having said that, I have had so much stuff leaking out (tmi sorry) recently, I have started showering twice a day, some days. Anyone else??

Have reached the rashy, leaky, huge, achy, teary stage. Yes, v panicky about the thought of looking after two at once (more so if I let myself think about it!!) but also counting down the weeks!! Must organise and wash baby things!

SpottyTeacakes · 05/10/2012 06:38

emily have you had Gaviscon? Mine lasts ages and ages all day sometimes for days on end Sad

cookies if you're lazy I'm worse finishing at 32 weeks Grin but with dd being born at 36 weeks and being quite ill prior to that I think it's best.

cherry sounds like some of your mucus plug, although not much of it. This can happen any time and generally isn't something to worry about but get it checked anyway Smile

emilyeggs · 05/10/2012 06:50

No gaviscon Sad waiting for shops to open....guess that's what it is then. Thanks spotty
