weejo I have a lot of sleep suits (30+) in 0-3 due to being bought things and winning a huge bundle on eBay, but think its a bit excessive they just cost the same as 10
new ones. In newborn I'm buying 6 sleep suits and 6 vests in plain multipacks, it'll get me through the first few days at least and if I need more ill ask a visiting relative to pop to asda on the way over.
I keep looking at change bags and can't make up my mind, DP doesn't care about being seen with it as long as its not OTT floral or something, but would be happy with a plain bag of most colours. I just want something that doesn't scream "change bag" so I can use it as a giant handbag in a few years.
I think I'm going to do the rest of my shopping next month when DP gets paid so I can sit back and think its all done and we can focus on baby freak outs. DP had a panic last night that he wasn't going to be a good dad and he'll crack under the responsibility because he's just realised my pregnancy is real.
honey ill be dressing in my big leggings and maternity jeans until I feel ready to put something smarter on. If anyone tries to take them off me before I'm ready ill tantrum! I've given myself a year to loose baby weight and the extra I gained before pregnancy but really my plan involves eating a bit better and getting out for a walk with baby every day once I feel up to it.

utopian99 · 02/10/2012 13:50

spotty hurrah for the new car!
honey sorry to hear about ribs and hope you get as much rest as possible..

There's a 1/2 price sale on baby clothes in boots, for those on the lookout, and superdrug are selling pregnacare plus for £8.60 (or thereabouts..)

Secondsop · 02/10/2012 13:57

Re clothes, I'm fully expecting to still look pregnant for a good while after birth so will still be dressing as if pregnant. I'm still in my "normal" clothes as my staple wardrobe is stretchy dresses that I make, although now worn with either no belt or an under-bust belt instead, so after the birth I'll just be putting those back on again. I am rather enamoured of my over-bump leggings though so you'll have to prise those off me afterwards.

interwebmum · 02/10/2012 14:05

Hello I've just joined MN although I've been reading the pregnancy discussions for a few months. I hope it's ok to join in with the december thread this late on!
A bit of background on me:
I'm 35 and living in France although I'm a London girl originally. I'm due on 16th december with a little girl.
It's my first pregnancy, so it's all new!
I'm living in a small (and quite boring) town and don't know many people here. We were forced to move here for my DH's work. So MN has been a brilliant link to the rest of civilisation and a great source of information.
I hope to get to know the rest of you december mums soon.

ps. do tell me if I do anything daft. I've never done a discussion forum before!

HoneyMum21 · 02/10/2012 14:09

welcome interweb :)

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 02/10/2012 14:26

Welcome interwebmum I'm due the 16 th too but this is my 3rd baby (DHs 1st) and we're having a surprise (dd is 8yo this month and ds is 6yo next month)

I got given a change bag, I wanted a handbag type one but as I've just been given one that's decent I couldn't justify the expense.

As for pads I've only got one pack ATM I don't remember having to wear them for too long with the others but my memory of their baby years isn't the best Blush

And I'm sure I was in maternity clothes for at least 5-6 weeks after each of them. It will completely depend in how quickly your uterus goes back to normal size. It's def nothing to be ashamed of.

Hi interweb!
Haven't been on here for ages, so really sorry for not keeping up. Honey, sorry to hear about your awful cough and your rib injury, sounds horrible.

Had 28 wk scan and consultant appt yesterday and baby Rosa is measuring exactly "average" for her dates, and she was very active during the scan. Have some very scary alien-like pictures as she was face on a lot of the time! Had my thyroid meds increased a little but otherwise everything is fine.
Not sure who is was talking about MLUs etc. but I would warn you to check what your local unit can offer, and how long it would take to get you to hospital if there are any problems. My local MLU don't do any assisted births at all, i.e. if you need even forceps, you have to go by ambulance half an hour to hospital and I'm pretty sure if that had been the case when I had DS, he wouldn't have made it. Don't want to scare anyone but just something to be aware of.

utopian99 · 02/10/2012 14:32

Hi interweb, ours is due Dec 15th!

Posted without realising there was an extra page..(also tried to check my advantage card points by putting my driving licence in the machine - baby brain.. Blush )

Is my first and so far although in mat clothes for some time haven't gained elsewhere that i can see, and weddings to attend in June and July so hoping to get back to pre-preg by then. Won't be worried if I stay in my under-bump jeans for a month or so though... Planning on lots of major walks with the crumb to give him fresh air and me exercise. Smile

2blessed · 02/10/2012 15:01

Welcome interwebmum
Thanks stacks about the whooping cough suggestion. I?d not thought about that. I?ve had my persistent cough for 3 weeks now! Will definitely make an appointment to see my GP. Is everyone having the whooping cough jab? Sorry if I?ve missed chat on this subject, struggling to keep up with the pace?
eggs I?ve already warned my local salon that I will be coming in late November for a Brazilian. I want to be plucked like a chicken for that delivery room! Not had one for a while so I?m sure its going to hurt but think I?ll be thankful for it in the long run. Hoping I will be able to combine it with a general pampering session ? e.g pedicure and facial
spotty After considering dreaming about the pacapod for months, I think I?m now longing for a babymel changing bag.
I really need to stop dithering and get on and buy a pushchair. Was torn between the UppaBaby vista and Bugaboo Bee/Quinny Zap/Oyster. But think I?m going to stick with my gut and go for the UppaBaby.
One thing that I?m not happy about is that I seem to have lost my enthusiasm for cooking Sad. Maybe its because I constantly feel exhausted.

MyDaydream · 02/10/2012 15:30

Welcome interweb
utopian fresh air and walking is my plan. I lost loads of weight a few years ago just walking 30minutes to and from work everyday. There's loads of parks and woods near me, so I can keep it varied too.
2blessed I'm feeling the same, I just can't motivate myself to stand in front of the cooker making food.
I feel crippled by exhaustion and just want to stay in bed. I'm hopefully having my 28 week bloods taken tomorrow although I have to sweet talk my antenatal dept at the hospital to do it with my gtt and fit me in for an antenatal appointment to get the results too. Still without a GP or MW.

SpottyTeacakes · 02/10/2012 15:49

Welcome interweb you must be hitting the magic 30 week mark now?!

I have my 28 week scan and consultants appointment tomorrow morning, then have to go to physio in the afternoon, the appointments are over 35 miles apart which is a right pita Hmm

My chutney is simmering away, smells like Christmas Grin

2blessed I think I'm going for this one

I really liked the Uppababy Vista but found it quite heavy and we'll be using the car a lot so we're going for the Mutsy Evo. Still not ordered it though!

kate2boysandabump · 02/10/2012 16:15

Welcome interweb

Utopian Grin about the advantage card.

I've read the 'garden' maintenance with much interest and [grins] DH tidied my bikini line when I was in labour with ds1, I didn't know it at the time, but he did a good job. I found out about a week later. Hopefully I'll be a bit more organised and get it done before hand this time.

Pidg How did the interview go? Have you said and I've missed it?

I've been for physio today, I've been fitted with an enormous piece of tubigrip and I've got to go back in 2 weeks for them to assess my pelvic alignment. I also got lots of really good advice, most of which I've been doing anyway, but it's good to be reminded of good habits.

I've also nearly finished my Christmas shopping, just got to get a few more bits for the boys and then done, I feel quite pleased with myself.

Flumpy2012 · 02/10/2012 17:18

Welcome Interweb Smile

Has anyone actually had their whooping cough vaccination yet? Mine is booked for Thursday along with flu and my regular b12 (pin cushion!)

Went to see a house today - was awful, I'm totally gutted so now I'm consoling myself with popcorn

Everything aches, my boobs are leaking and I need a hug Sad

StrawberrytallCAKE · 02/10/2012 17:27

honey online food shopping? We have recently discovered cook which are all home made meals you just shove in the oven and are lovely, going to stock up before December!

I had a Lin and Leo bag in pink last time but once a bottle opened in it (when dh was in charge) and the leather on one side was ruined, the inside is not waterproof at all!! They look beautiful if you can keep them clean though and the darker colours are more practical.

cookies I got my stokke in purple from mothercare, made them price match everything so saved a few £100 too. We bought a cotbed too as they have 15% off at the moment it is this one - cot in almond. I really wanted a boori but when I looked at the difference in quality and price decided the cheaper one was much better.

Boots have 3 for 2 on pharmacy and optical at the moment so I bought arnica tablets, lavender oil and some cooling eye masks too...can't resist a bargain. Almost finished washing baby clothes now and hospital suitcase is half full.

As for grooming I have tried to sort it myself but I think I will get a wax before labour as last time the midwife pointed out to my dh that a certain part of my anatomy dilates before the baby comes out and they were both studying it like I was a fricking cow. I would have sworn at her had I not been a little high. Blush.

HoneyMum21 · 02/10/2012 17:27

Aww Flumpy unmumsnetty hugs. If it makes you feel any better i feel like my boobs have been leaking forever.

StrawberrytallCAKE · 02/10/2012 17:28

And hello interweb

Clarella · 02/10/2012 17:30

Gordon Bennett, you lot have chatted today!

Tried to post several times and been distracted then the thread's moved on!

Just catching up.... welcome interwebmum!

StrawberrytallCAKE · 02/10/2012 17:30

And yes as soon as I'd ordered it I thought oh shit, I hope I've made the right decision and started eyeing up the bugaboo.

Secondsop · 02/10/2012 17:35

flumpy Ive asked about the whooping cough vaccine but my surgery isn't yet taking appointments for it. They said to ring in the second half of this week. I have my flu jab next Wednesday.

HoneyMum21 · 02/10/2012 17:39

Thanks for suggestion Strawberry - gonna do an online shop later in the week but got my dad to pick me up some essentials like bread and marmalade

Equimum · 02/10/2012 17:42

Welcome interweb

(((((((((Flumpy)))))))))

Strawberry I love Cook. Have made DH agree that we can do an order from there ready for the first couple of weeks after LO arrives. Good pointer: For anyone veggies or anyone having to cook for veggies, esp over Christmas, their nutroast is by far the best I know of - really moist and yummy!

GAP still have the end of their kids sale on for anyone interested. I popped in today and ended up buying three things that weren't in the sale. Oooops! Blush

Our pushchair arrived yesterday. We've gone for the Mountain Buggy Urban Jungle, which I have to admit, reminds me of an old Land Rover Defender! Yes, very dull, but incredibly practical for dragging across a stable yard and taking out with the horse (no, I'm not planning on towing it, as my brother assumed I meant by that comment!). We also got our cot on Saturday. We also liked the Boori, but opted for the cheaper John Lewis equivilent

utopian99 · 02/10/2012 17:57

strawberry we have a purple Stokke too! I'm.a tiny bit in love with it.. Ours was second hand though, so wondering if I can wash the footmuff? The label implies you can, at 40 or below?

Also, we weren't planning on buying a cot yet as we have bought the Miyo hammock instead of a Moses basket, which says is suitable for 6-9 months. Does anyone think we're being unwise to wait?

SpottyTeacakes · 02/10/2012 18:03

I think you'll be fine to wait utopian you might get a good one in the January sales and if you suddenly need one everyone does next day delivery these days

Flumpy2012 · 02/10/2012 18:10

Utopian - I have a crib so I'm waiting to buy a cot too. I thought it would just be extra furniture and limit valuable space until its needed.

Thank you for hugs! I'm hoping the boob leaking means I'll have good supply but it probably doesn't.

Our GTT came back with high levels so off to diabetic clinic for us tomorrow - I swear I'm going to be like a colander at this rate the amount of needles we've had!

I'm sorry I've finished moaning now Grin
