Grin issi hairy minge in room 4.... Did make me laugh!

Flumpy2012 · 02/10/2012 10:11

TMI but people say its more to do with comfort afterwards with bleeding than what the mw thinks Blush

WeeJo08 · 02/10/2012 11:06

Another one here with a bit of the dreaded lurgy :( Just a sore throat and a bit of a cough though no cracked ribs thankfully! That sounds dreadful for you, honey, I hope you get loads of rest and feel better soon. I am heading to the doctor this afternoon to get something to sort out this silly cough/throat thing quickly as am going to get both the flu jab and the whooping cough one next week so don't want anything to mess it up/make me feel unwell!!

For my birthday I had got a Mamas & Papas voucher from a friend and went on their website to check how much it was for, thinking I could get a pair of maternity tights or a nice sleepsuit for Shnarf. I was gobsmacked that the voucher is for £75 Shock It was made even better by noticing that M&P have a sale on until this weekend! So excited! Might get Moses basket or maybe a breast pump (which isn't very cut and cuddly but probably necessary!)

Issimma You made me snort my tea with the thought of the midwives "gossiping about the hairy minge in room 4" I can't even see mine at the moment either but would like to try and do something about it before it gets to the stage of hiring a gardener.

Spotty Yay on the new car! What type is it?

SpottyTeacakes · 02/10/2012 11:06

I agree congealed pubes are not nice Blush it doesn't help you feel clean!

SpottyTeacakes · 02/10/2012 11:10

Oh lucky you WeeJo have you got a changing bag yet? They do nice ones or you could spend it on pointless cute things Wink

It's a black (colour v important) Astra and it has automatic lights!

annelid · 02/10/2012 11:14

Spotty No - don't have a changing bag yet, that's a good idea! Car sounds lovely - I like black cars, they always look really sleek.

Everyone - how many sleepsuits, etc have you bought for the baby and (for those of you who are having second/third/fourth/fifth babies) have you used Sainsburys' baby clothes? I was thinking of getting some of their multi packs.

Secondsop · 02/10/2012 11:58

weejo what a lovely present from your friend.

I've just started to look at websites to order various bits for my hospital bag and thereafter - nursing bras, pads etc. Does one really need different bras for night-time?

Also, what are the special features of a changing bag as opposed to a normal bag?

Secondsop · 02/10/2012 12:01

Oh and, I wasn't planning to pay any attention to my "lady garden"; midwives can think what they like and they will have seen all sorts as not every culture expects its women to remove every last bit of hair from their body anyway, and if the hair is uncomfortable afterwards, then by then I'll be able to see it to trim it.

SpottyTeacakes · 02/10/2012 12:04

I found Sainsbury's ones fitted dd the best, along with BlueZoo at Debenhams and I will be getting them again. I would just get one pack of newborn and a couple of 0-3.

SpottyTeacakes · 02/10/2012 12:05

Changing bags have lots if pockets and wipe clean interior. Some people do without but I found it really useful

Secondsop · 02/10/2012 12:11

Ah thanks Spotty. I was asking because I've got a really good big multi-pocketed bag that I was hoping to use but it doesn't have a wipe-clean interior. But I am a bit of a dab hand with a sewing machine so it would not be beyond me to make a poppered removable wipe-clean lining for a couple of the sections. Although this would largely depend on whether I can be bothered.

ellliebelle · 02/10/2012 12:16

seconds im sure you can get by without different bra's for night time i always just felt comfier in the night time bras for bed as they are more like a cropped top so not shapped and my boobs stayed in them rather than falling out of the cup so to speak

Secondsop · 02/10/2012 12:18

Thanks ellliebelle; my current bras are all underwired so a bit diggy for sleeping in (not that that stops me falling asleep on the sofa in them) do I might look for some soft-cup nursing bras that would also work for nighttime.

ellliebelle · 02/10/2012 12:19

Also with changing bags this time round id like a really nice big handbag or a changing bag that looks like a handbag (although these all seem very expensive and not sure i have the budget for it) :(

ellliebellie the bag I was hoping to use

I'm starting to panic about how unprepared I am. I am almost at a week beginning with a 3. I am going to bite the bullet and just ORDER SOMETHING - nursing pads and maternity pads and nursing bras. I think I'm worrying too much about whether I'm looking in the cheapest places as at this rate I won't have anything I need.

Secondsop · 02/10/2012 12:34

GAAH, that went wrong: ellliebellie the bag I was hoping to use is a lovely brown leather bag that can be shoulder or handheld and that looks like an oversized handbag. I got it a few years ago from an etsy seller called Valhalla Brooklyn. It was not cheap but has been incredibly useful - for a flight bag, work bag when Ive got lots of papers, weekend bag etc.

SpottyTeacakes · 02/10/2012 12:37

I need a new bag anyway and I like the babymel canvas blue stripe one. (Can't link on phone). But I do think a normal bag would work just as well Smile

Oh secondsop just do a big mothercare order then it's all over and done with!

PurplePidjin · 02/10/2012 12:45

Issima, i was going to go for a rucksack too. I live in an upstairs flat in the town centre, so for short trips for milk etc a sling will be far more use than lugging the buggy up and down. Baby on front, bag on back and away we go - nappies can go in a wet bag :)

I prefer to sleep in a vest top anyway, so am assuming sleep bras will be unnecessary?
