And on with the conversation

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Sheldon I guess it depends which P&T you are getting. I had a Vibe and in baby/toddler mode, the baby is underneath with its head by your legs. If the toddler isn't using the seat you can remove it and have the baby facing you in the main seat in the cocoon. Does that make any sense?!

mandasand · 08/10/2012 17:35

Sheldon - well that's weird because our previous owner painted almost every room in the house a different shade of yellow, bar one which is light green, and the kitchen was a really not v.g. peach! We re-did the kitchen and open plan dining room in cream and Cornwall / Mediterranean blue last year (v. dark as never gets the light, despite patio doors) but we didn't get around to anything else as it didn't ever seem pressing. But now I have burning desire to make this house a proper home Smile and the answer for me is decorating!

Hurray for heartbeat, JoJo!

Lexi, I reckon just go for it. Can you put in a penalty clause on non-delivery? I have no idea about these things!

Ethel and Pink, hmm, brazilians. I shall give that some thought?

mandasand · 08/10/2012 18:27

Ooh, in other news, I just did a mahoosive sneeze and felt what I can only describe as a lot of weird bubbling on my right side: did I wake one of the babies up, by chance?! This would be exciting, as I haven't felt anything from the baby on that side yet, and s/he was merely swallowing in the last scan (when sibling was dancing away with all four limbs!)

Quite excited: off shortly for mocktails with a friend from uni who I haven't seen for about 6-7 years. She doesn't live too far away and has twin boys, so am hoping to come back armed with advice etc!

Happy evenings one and all Smile

Re waxing. Supposed to hurt more in pregnancy (certainly does for me) and some places are funny about waxing a pg woman.

EthelredOnAGoodDay · 08/10/2012 19:55

IME, all salons I've been to will wax you when pg, it's just that in the latter stages you can't lie on your back, so you need to find another position. I've been having bikini line waxed for over 10 years, incudlung right through last pregnancy up to the point I was about 38 weeks, now so think I am just hardened to it (hard as nails rmoticonGrin)
I actually find eyebrow waxing worst of all!

TheAngelshavetheOod · 08/10/2012 20:00

I had two refuse me last time. And it was for legs Hmm

Em2010 · 08/10/2012 20:03

Hiya All,

Just going to post before I catch up properly!

Bikini waxing ? I have tried it many times and ALWAYS come up in a horrible itchy rash! Wish I could have it done though as in general I am a big fan of waxing!

Quick question- has anyone on here tried Aden & Anais muslins? Ive read all these rave reviews on mumsnet and now I'm desperate for some! Money is tight though so really trying to restrain myself!

Right off to cook dinner and have a go at my mahousive ironing pile! Will try and have a good read through when I'm tucked up in bed.

pinkpeony4 · 08/10/2012 20:10

I've never been refused a waxing either and have waxed monthly all 3 (+ this one) times. Towards the end of pregnancy they just raised the back of the bed so I was in more of a sitting position. I used to get the rash with strip wax but never with hot wax.

Em I had one last time and loved it. I actually used to use it for all sorts of things, swaddling, a sheet, as a cover for the pram when ds was sleeping & also as a sunshade! It was very useful indeed. I only had one but would buy more especially because this baby will be born in the Spring. My others have all been Autumn/winter babies.

pinkpeony4 · 08/10/2012 20:11

Ethel Have you tried eyebrow threading? It's fab and hurts far less than waxing.

GummiberryJuice · 08/10/2012 20:13

Don't.want to lose place

I'm not into waxing or shaving there at all, thankfully I have a naturally tidish garden Grin and when it gets to the point I can't see it I won't care, Zoey has scared me enough about shaving under my arms, and I cut my ankle last night in bath

Yey for bubbly right twin manda

HermioneBoo · 08/10/2012 20:58

manda I went to a private school on an assisted place too! Sorry, bit excited as I've never met anyone who was assisted place, it was all very hush hush at my school so I had to make up a whole other life where my parents had great jobs and could afford to pay for me to go to this school. I must have done a fairly good job as my best friend was shocked when I told her about it when we'd moved on to uni! Absolutely saved my education though, I spent two years at a state secondary before getting my assisted place and I know I'd never have had the discipline to say no to skiving off with my friends. I'm not in any position to send BabyBoo to private school but am tempted to start saving so if the local state secondary is rubbish at least I'd have an option.

tramp my friends are 6ft4 and 6ft and they have a bugaboo chameleon - they love it and they don't stoop when using it, looks really comfortable. My DH is 6ft 2 and wheeled it about and he remarked on how easy it was to manoeuvre. They got theirs from eBay and there are plenty of good ones on there, we're looking at the Uppababy vista and there's just nothing on eBay yet. I've also only ever seen one in real life whereas you see quite a few chameleons and see how well people use them. (Can't tell I do a lot of people watching can you?!)

I only have a very small bump (17 weeks tomorrow) and yet nothing fits :( my normal trousers fit with the hair bobble trick and a bump band but gets a little uncomfortable after a few hours, I've got a couple of pairs of maternity trousers and they're huge on me! I went to Mothercare earlier and I just feel lost because I have no idea what will fit now and what will fit when I get a proper bump. I hate spending money on clothes at the best of times, never mind when I know I'll only wear them for a short time!

In better news babyboo's room is going to be plastered tomorrow! First step on creating a gorgeous room from a dumping room and its the last room in the house to be done up. We've been here nearly 7 years and yet it still had packing boxes in there from when we moved in!

HermioneBoo · 08/10/2012 21:04

Oh and re waxing, my bump isn't big enough to obstruct my view but I've already asked DH if he can trim me when the time comes. I've never had a wax, I wax DH's back and that looks painful enough! I've always used a bikini trimmer and shaved the untidy edges, or used veet. Do they ask you to wear paper knickers or do they see the full ladygarden? Not that they haven't seen it all before, I don't know why I'd be shy!

zoeymlucas · 08/10/2012 21:20

Gummi I wouldnt be put off by my shaving experience I am sure no one is as stupid as me to forget they have a razor in hand and go to itch there boob Hmm - I am healing ok Jojo its still bleedin as its totally down the outside of boob so the bra is rubbing - I went to doctors as really was bleeding still used freebie breast pads on it and she has sterie strips it and dressed it properly and has given me some dressings, she recommended not wearing a bra till it scabs but I dont think thats an option!!!!
Hermoine I am with you on if I cant see it I dont care to be honest but will get some help near c section date as I see my consultant ALOT and will see him post baby so dont want to embaress myself too much, day to day I dont care and DH can bugger off, lol!!

have just spent the last hour sorting my phone and my iphone 5 is all set up so been playing with that - has cheered me up no end!!

Boss mentioned maternity leave and today and thinks he can get a credit controller 2 days a week and I can do the rest from home incllduding all management accounts for 2 companies, cashflows, VAt, payroll really not sure what planet he is on!

My belly is huge and I look like I am smuggling a bowling ball already Hmm I love it in morning when it is rock hard and I can feel where baby boy is, then I have a wee and it softens out alot!

JoJoBella84 · 08/10/2012 21:24

zoey are you still injecting fragmin? Or do I have the wrong person?! Blood thinners aren't going to help!

zoeymlucas · 08/10/2012 21:35

I inject Clexain which is a blood thinner but cant not have them as I have damaged leg after a bad op so its high risk of clots esp when pregnant as it puffs up alot and dont drain fluid so doctor said to still do them and the cut hadnt 'clotted' yet as was rubbing and sides not sticking together - now its dressed etc I cant see any blood on dressing so think its work :) Doctor also recommended spit clots blood so if I cut myself to out spit on it and it will clot faster Confused

Rainbowbabyhope · 08/10/2012 21:40

Gummi with you on the no waxing or shaving and getting to the point when you don't care anyway! Tbh never understood why us women feel the need to do this to ourselves - that so many of us feel compelled to do so is a sad reflection about female image and body hair in our society. I don't put anything sharp near any part of my body that I can't see past my bump! I think pregnancy is a wonderfully opportunity to feel proud of your body in its natural state - and I have a wonderful DH who agrees! Smile. Our marriage is based on the principle that we don't expect the other to do anything we wouldn't be prepared to do ourself - that includes changing surnames, cleaning and most definitely waxing!

EthelredOnAGoodDay · 08/10/2012 22:06

hermione for a regular wax you just wear your own pants, whereas for a Brazilian you strip off from the waist down (well I guess you could keep your shoes and socks on if you want!Grin). The first time I went for it I was a bit nervous but therapist was really nice and now we just talk about trash tv and her seemingly complicated personal life!

I know it's not to everyone's taste, I won't be mounting a campaign or anything! But I prefer to not have a pant moustache and if I shave I get a terrible rash so its by far the best option for me. Each to their own.Smile

Not tried threading pink but might consider it, especially as I seem to be getting an increasingly lustrous beard during this pg! Grin

Back to work tomorrow then by the time I finish on Thursday hopefully DH will be winging his way back from Saudi hopefully armed with presents!Grin
Have coped pretty well without him, but think if he was away much more than a fortnight, I think I'd start to struggle. DD has been remarkably good so that's been a massive bonus!

manda hope you had a great evening out and that your friend had loads of good advice!

Lexiindisguise · 08/10/2012 22:16

I'm a Veet girl - no rash & pretty quick - not sure I will bother once I can't see though.
zoey have you agreed to work rather than take mat leave? Seems very unfair of your boss to put you under so much pressure to do so much from home.
Getting a bit anxious about scan Friday, mainly as am 19+2 and still not feeling movements Sad hope the Bean is OK in there.
Been on the exercise bike today - felt like such hard work, am getting v unfit. Need to drag DH out for more walks I think!

backwardpossom · 08/10/2012 22:22

I have clipper type things. I just have a wee trim for going swimming! Wink

zoeymlucas · 08/10/2012 22:29

Lexi I havent agreed anything and he hasnt mentioned maternity leave since I told him I was pregnant and he replied 'for f8ck sake' followed by 'any plans to sell it' so I think he is just amusing - however he knows it will be c section so no driving for 6 weeks min so not sure how I get 40mins away into office forgetting before baby and not physically being able to walk/move as happened with both DS and i have told him very openly!! Think I might just let him get on with it and he can deal with it

EthelredOnAGoodDay · 08/10/2012 22:40

ZOey, surely as a manager he would know that by law you have to take so many (cant remember how many?!) weeks off on maternity leave? Is he a total fuckwit?!

EthelredOnAGoodDay · 08/10/2012 22:42

lexi it's really normal to not feel anything til after 20 weeks, I was def past that stage last time before I felt any movements. Try not to worry. Smile

zoeymlucas · 09/10/2012 07:35

Actually ethel that's exactly what he is hence the problem- he treats the business like a boys club with him and the another manager and I am like the mum who goes round fixing crap and making it all work and making sure everything is sorted! Am hoping me being off will show him how much I do without him noticing as he is a dick- a lovely bloke personally but no idea of business!!!! Yesterday he had a plan I could do the forecasts and cash flows in the day and some other stuff he forgot to ask for ( as is in process of buying business and getting new bank) and do the management accounts in my spare time- genius he thought until I explained I need sleep and don't have 'spare' time that spare time is family time!! ESP as him and other manager are off on a 3 day jolly with other suppliers at a golf manor in Wales today!

Does anyone else get shooting pain or pressure up in side there girly bits, I can't work out if it's perfectly normal or I should phone everyone cos of stitch- I don't want to be paranoid but don't want to ignore stuff either :(

Vivee74 · 09/10/2012 08:13

Zoey hope you sort things with your boss. I've been invited for a meeting with my boss regarding my end date this morning. i put in maternity leave application based on working as long as I can. My boss has suggested an earlier date. Worried that they'll make me redundant before then (most people will be) to limit what they pay me... Or maybe she will be unusually helpful. Fingers crossed.

TheAngelshavetheOod · 09/10/2012 08:18

ethelred compulsory mat leave is only 2 weeks!
