God is that all it is ood I thought it was about six. Maybe that's just at our place.
Back to work, ho hum, at least the sun is shining!

Am aiming in working til 38 weeks, worked til 37 last time and that was in middle of winter, so hoping I can manage 38, but if I start to struggle later on, will have to rethink....

DoodleBugBee · 09/10/2012 08:51

Morning gang - still here but real life getting in the way of MN life Smile

Have 16w appt with MW this morning and I'm ready for a small bit of a moan: at booking appt (not with my MW as I had been forgotten and lost in the system and had to be seen in a rush before the 12w scan) I was told that the NT scan is not offered in Gloucestershire and I would have to pay £180 and I wouldn't really want it anyway as I could have the blood tests (her words, not mine). So having let DH know we would have to pay and that I would have blood tests I left it. At 14w DH said he thought we should pay for the scan and so I had a browse on tinternet and discovered that I was too late for NT scan. I'm upset that I didn't know and wasn't told all the information so that I could make an informed decision. Am I right in thinking I will have to wait a further 2 weeks before finding out results? Sad

In other news, my bikini line is but a distant memory...! X

backwardpossom · 09/10/2012 10:10

Ethel as long as you stay healthy, there's no reason why you couldn't - I did with DS and I was working full time as a secondary teacher. I'm hoping to get to 37 weeks this time (make it to Feb half term - also my 30th birthday!) so fingers crossed - I work part time now so I'm hoping it'll be easier.

How are we all doing this morning? I've got a list of jobs I need to do today that is as long as my arm, so I suppose I should really get off my expanding ass and get on with them! Bank, post office, tesco, pick up the boy from nursery school, clean the house etc etc. Bah.

zoeymlucas · 09/10/2012 10:49

Ow dear pregnant tramtrum alert someone at work made a sneaky comment in front of the whole office about finance getting away with murder and he dont and I totally flipped my lid, was all teary as angry he then asked to see me in the boardroom and I refused and told him I need to calm down before I speak to anyone and was a bit rude and told him to leave me alone - then went and sat in car and cried for about 10 mins :( He has since emailed 2 apologies for his digs and I cant even bring myself to read them let alone reply one of them flashed up saying thinking about trying to force me into a meeting wasnt his best idea Confused I did over react but have been pushed so hard lately it was going to happen it was just at the wrong person - still on the verge of crying

GummiberryJuice · 09/10/2012 10:52

Doodle the hospital only asked me did I want any testing 2 weeks ago when I was 15 weeks, and I know with dd1 I was 16 weeks when I got tests got results about a week later.
Was actually abit miffed this time as she offered me it as I was over 35, Emm only by 9 months made me feel oldGrin

Possom I'm trying to get abit of decluttering down before the lunch time fade

On other news I'm like a teenager these days breaking out in spots, WHERE'S THE BLOOM!

GummiberryJuice · 09/10/2012 10:53

Hugs Zoey, a good cry is sometimes is best,

Lexiindisguise · 09/10/2012 10:59

Aww Zoey your work sounds really, really stressful. At least colleague has apologised but doesn't help when you are under so much pressure.
ethel thanks - very good to hear!
gummi I am hideously spotty! Can't bear it :(

21+2 and no sickness for about 10 days! Could I have reached my vomiting limit? Don't want to get my hopes up too much but I'm happy I can eat breakfast again.

Have been woken up this morning by my flat mare trying to hammer the freezer door closed after overfilling it. I went nuts, told him to defrost the freezer then things would go in easier... He replied with 'I don't have to, it's closed now' well it might be closed but as soon as you open that door to cook one of the 15 pizzas you've forced in there your going to have to hammer it shut again. Honestly don't know how teens moving to Uni survive these days. Ladies you have to promise me something, when your kids decide to move away for university - teach them how to wash up, and cook, and load a dishwasher correctly and defrost a freezer... For the sanity of all mature students out there who end up cleaning up after them!!!

DoodleBugBee · 09/10/2012 11:42

Zoey - sounds rubbish, hope having a jolly good cry helped a bit, sending squishes to you.

Following MW thus morning, I heard the heartbeat and was utterly overwhelmed Smile

JoJoBella84 · 09/10/2012 11:44

zoey sorry, I ranted before replying - I find a good cry helps to relieve the stress!! Even the cries when you have no idea what you're crying about!!
Let the tears flow, it's good for you!!!

JoJoBella84 · 09/10/2012 12:36

Urgh, I caved and defrosted the freezer... I am so weak.

backwardpossom · 09/10/2012 12:44

Yay Doodle, it's a great sound isn't it?!

Jojo halls are a nightmare. Our kitchen was always minging. We would do a massive clean up of it once a month, but there was always someone who couldn't be bothered to do the dishes! So glad I'm past all that... at least OU is done in the comfort of your own home!!

Zoey sounds rubbish. Glad he's apologised x

Got through some of the jobs (bank, tesco, post office) but not started the cleaning yet. DS is home from school now so wont get much peace to do it. I have hidden his box with the train set bits in it, so at least I know that wont be getting emptied out when I'm in the middle of hoovering. Going to make some soup for lunch (just veg today, I think) and get on with it. The boy has kickboxing at 4:30pm so hopefully I can get it all done by then!

mandasand · 09/10/2012 13:55

Had a lovely night out with my old friend last night, thanks Ethel! Got lots of twin-tips too and got a bit of a sugar high from all the mocktails! Smile

Today I'm in London researching at the BFI and treating myself to a nice lunch and having to listen to a couple of knobs on the adjacent table talking about how to 'fake it to make it', yawn.

Hermione, fellow assisted place person! there were lots of us in our school, but we always felt quite different from the posher, richer kids and we tended to stick together. Wow, I can't imagine having to hide it a bit - that must have been quite difficult. (I still skived off, spending many a morning in MacDonalds in central Manchester, hehe!) I've never met anyone since school who had one so this is quite exciting! It only occurred to me recently to put it on my CV, as it is a kind of award that I'm glad to have got, and also it fills in my biography a bit more fully than the image projected by posh school + Classics degree. Oh, and do bikini trimmers hurt? Am not averse to asking DH to assist if it's not too traumatic for him and this sounds potentially okay!

I used not to shave or trim my ladygarden as I'm blonde and it's not too stand-outish but I started a couple of years ago and I like it neater and the older I get the hairier I get!

Glad you've been to docs about your cut boob Zoey. Hope its' getting a bit better already. I get LOTS of pressure on my cervix and more recently on the walls of my vagina. Have decided it's nothing to worry about after talking to sonographer about it last week. Hope everything's calmed down at work now? Sounds like you've got a lot on your plate with little support Sad

Hope meeting went well Vivee.

Hurray for all those little train-like heartbeats - yay!

I felt baby on left move this morning when I was half-asleep. Wish I'd been more awake!! Still desperate to get proper movement from baby on right (apart from yesterday's 'bubbles' when I sneezed!)

19 weeks today, which is probably over the halfway point for these twins - wow!

Lexiindisguise · 09/10/2012 14:22

Manda and Hermione I was also at private school, in Somerset, no assisted place but I did have subsidised fees by the Army. Went to board aged 8. Funnily enough the 'army brats' (and navy and RAF) used to hang out together as a)we didn't have as much cash as the full fee-payers and b) several had parents abroad/long way away/on active service.
I learnt at uni not to tell people I'd been to boarding school as I experienced a lot of reverse snobbery and nastiness about being 'posh' when my background really isn't like that - mind you, if I was 'posh' I'd probably not have cared what people thought! Smile

zoeymlucas · 09/10/2012 14:23

How exciting feeling 2 babies move Amanda you prob wont be so glad in 10 weeks when you get a kick in the ribs or lady bits it hurts I am 18 weeks tomorrow and ebbing every step closer to the magic 24 week mark and cant wait :) I think with the cervix thing I dont actually know whats normal as mine is broken and dont want to phone the hospital every 2 mins as DH thinks I should!!

Think I am just tired and hormonal and am like a little volcano I simmer and bubble away at work let things get to me then one day erupt and its normally at the wrong person Blush however it may teach people not to mess with a tired, hormonal pregnant person - hehe! Plus he just made me lunch to cheer me up - scrambled egg and toast as he noted I didnt eat yesterday maybe being crazy isnt all bad

Jojo I am disappointed you caved and defrosted the freezer for him - he prob knew you would though you should eat one of his pizzas as payment and say it defrosted to much when you were sorting it!!

Ow yeah and the last of my 2 boys christmas and birthday presents arrived today so feeling super organised

TheAngelshavetheOod · 09/10/2012 15:18

Just back from Physio with a support belt & crutches. Also recommended a back support for the car/my desk chair but I have to buy those. Am v achy and actually used the crutches on the way home but dd3 insisted on helping so took a while!

GummiberryJuice · 09/10/2012 15:59

I have caught ds's cold:( hope I can still get flu jab on Sat

Bambi86 · 09/10/2012 16:01

Gummi I've got a cold too, and getting my flu jab Saturday. Will the Dr refuse to give it to me if I'm still unwell?

TheAngelshavetheOod · 09/10/2012 16:10

They can't give it to you if you are ill. Had to cancel mine on Friday as I'm full of cold. They only do Fridays here so need to beg a nurse for one on another day as all the other 3 clinics are on work days.

dameflamingo · 09/10/2012 16:18

Hello all,

back from hanging out with actors (yep manda I spent a day with hercule poirot) and have a wee question for y'all.

IMMUNISATION: has anyone been offered a flu jab or whooping cough vaccine - do you have to request these or is it something NHS does to its own timetable? Has anyone had flu jab for previous pg - what was your experience? any thoughts or info you may have on whoopiong cough vaccine also of interest.
Sorry to sound like a research company - I just heard that I should have been offered some stuff and wondered if anyone else had any news or literature on the topic. I've never had a flu jab and have been lucky enough to only ever have flu once many many years ago so I'm basically being lazy in my info gathering!!

Tramp i found a travel system from dutch makers Joolz which caught my eye - it seems to be built for tall northern europeans though. It may be worth taking a look. These guys used to produce for mamas and papas but broke off the relationship last year to go solo and a bit more 'upmarket' in their design ( leather handle y'know!!) design reminds me a bit of Stokke my choice but not my wallet's.

Bambi86 · 09/10/2012 16:24

Hey dame My GP wrote to me around 2 weeks ago to offer me the flu jab. This is my first pg, so have no previous experiences of the jab. All pg women should be offered the flu jab during flu season (as far as I know). I have mine on Saturday, so will let you know!

Also, when I was at MW yesterday, I saw a poster offering whooping cough jab to those pg women over 28 weeks. MW said that it poses no risk to mother or baby - I guess I'll be having it when the time comes, after reading about the number of small babies that have sadly died already this year.

Angel thanks for that, fingers crossed I feel better by Saturday!

Lexiindisguise · 09/10/2012 16:59

Hi dame my GP surgery sent me a letter, apologizing if it 'no longer applied to me' but saying that as a pregnant lady they strongly advised I had the jab & giving me the number for appointment. Recommendation was due to risk of complications from flu being higher due to immune system being compromised.
Had it 10 days ago. Had a sore arm and felt tired for a day but that was it.

GummiberryJuice · 09/10/2012 18:22

Bambi fx our colds are gone for Sat

Dame I had to ask at surgery they had reminder leaflets at reception, so not sure if they would have written out, with giving your surgery a ring to see.

sarahs999 · 09/10/2012 18:35

I'm still here but having a miserable time at work. Been heavily bollocked about various things and so am keeping v low profile, including not accessing mumsnet at work Sad

Actually had high blood pressure reading at hospital after the stress work put me through last week, which is the last thing I need with my history of mc and pre-ec, so am making a point of mentioning it to hr tomorrow. Counting the work days until my maternity leave. 69 to go...
