Morning campers! Hope everyone's woken up feeling good and has nice things planned for today.

Hermione your dream is so funny! I had baby-anxiety dreams the night before my last scan. Inevitable, I think - just our brains getting us ready for the inevitable universe-shift that's going to occur!

JoJo hope you had a great family day yesterday!

myjob hope your pain has subsided? Am sure it must just be ligament pain or something (she says, repeating stuff she's heard but doesn't know much about!)

Tiddley I loooove the sound of that brown bear coat! I may have to invest x2 Smile Cute overload! Good luck for scan today ? and then jollies! Yippee!

Pink Yes, I've shifted my OU tutorials to Oxford. I've got stellar feedback from my students over the past two years (all the cake, no doubt) so I felt in a strong enough position to say 'Look, I'm pregnant with twins and it's going to be much easier for me to carry on teaching into the future if tutorials were in Oxford' and hey presto, they did it. It means I'm out of the house for 3 hours rather than 5-6, which is going to be much more manageable for DH and family time on the 7 Saturdays a year I teach. But I did feel quite a big pang of guilt when all my students, before we'd started the class proper, were wondering why - when they usually have tutorials in Reading - they had to come that bit further to Oxford?eek! It was a great tutorial, though. They truly are a lovely bunch and I feel a bit sad that I won't be with them all the way through. Bit disruptive for them too. Me too re autumn ? or is spring my favourite? ? never can decide - one of two anyway!

Lexi you are so nesting! Smile I want a wood burning stove in by the time winter arrives so I can hibernate! You never know, I may even take up crochet!

Em what a lovely and generous BF you have!

Tramp sounds like an excellent day! Bet your Ma was really chuffed to be so involved. My Mum is v. far away but is busy crocheting and we speak more on the phone. She just needs to hear everything is okay every couple of days, which is nice. And she's enjoying telling everyone at her school. Yesterday we confirmed our trip up north in two weeks time in which we hope to load up the back of an estate car with a cot, changing table, pumps, moses baskets, sterilisers and basically everything anything friends and family have got spare ? then we'll do a stocktake and see where we are. No doubt a spreadsheet will happen here too!

Emus how's the Mac issue?

Ood my family still serve party food for our birthdays ? even though we're all adults! Sometimes even on a Sunday when people are over Smile

Zoey you must fill us in on your surprise! Exciting!!

On belly buttons, I can barely look at mine now because it makes me feel queasy! It used to be a sort of recessed outy. So cute and button like. And now it's a pushed out outy and it does make me feel funny to see it!

Ohhhhh our hallways / stairwell looks much better. Before: yellow walls and creamy cream woodwork. After: very light brown walls and soft off-white woodwork. I'm now not sure about the wall colour - it's a bit too pinky - but I think it's too late. DH would go spare if I asked to change it now (and it would be £50+ of paint down the drain!) Think it will be fine once 2nd coat on and furniture and artwork/picture frames back up. This feels great: just need to get book off to press (sorry, I know you all must be sick of hearing about it!!) and then crazy October finished and we can start moving rooms around, decorating, new kitchen etc! Can Not Wait!

mandasand · 07/10/2012 09:29

PS so sorry for v. long catching up post!!!

Funnylittleturkishdelight · 07/10/2012 09:56

Jojo what an adventure for your belly button! Very glad you're feeling better and keep rubbing that bio oil!

Tramp- how will you do the edge trim for the changing table? I want to get a plain white ikea set of drawers and use that as a changing table- how would I go about edging it?

TheAngelshavetheOod · 07/10/2012 10:00

zoey I forgot the pineapple :(

EthelredOnAGoodDay · 07/10/2012 10:20

Morning all, need to catch up, am miles behind!

Funnylittleturkishdelight · 07/10/2012 10:43

Angel go get the pineapple!

GummiberryJuice · 07/10/2012 10:58

Tramp I never bothered with a changing station , I just have a changing mat, and sit on floor, I love to leave the baby on floor and have a wee play while changing nappy or after and can leave them safely on changing mat while I wash hands etc.

Having a cleaning day, glad I'm not the only one anxious because scan is ages away, and midwife app is 2 weeks away,

Hope everyone has a lovely Sunday
Zoey hope you are surprised with your surprise

Oh and a happy birthday party, eek house full of 2 year olds

backwardpossom · 07/10/2012 11:09

Angels (I keep reading your username as Angel shave the... oops!) We didn't win either, skint for another week... And happy birthday to your DD!

Jojo glad the bio oil seems to be helping :) Hope your scan goes well and you get to see the sex! It's scary that we're all around the halfway mark already!

Turkish My belly button is sort of flat now. I think it'll pop out soon - it didn't happen until about 35 weeks with DS, but it's going to be much earlier this time I reckon!

Tramp I hope your headache has gone now. I get terrible headaches when pregnant, I think it's because of the stuffy nose I have in the mornings when I wake up. I get nose bleeds now and again, too. Was the same last time :(

zoey hope the surprise turns out to be a good one!

As for me, made French toast for breakfast and was delicious! Think I'm going to make some cakes this morning (not much morning left actually... oops!) - strawberry cheesecake cupcakes from the Hummingbird Bakery book, methinks. YUM! Then we'll head round to mum and dad's to scrounge dinner and read their newspapers. Sounds like a plan... I'll take some cakes to make up for the stealing of dinner...

18+3 today. My bump is getting ridiculous. We're almost halfway ladies (and some of us are past that!), can you believe it?!

backwardpossom · 07/10/2012 11:12

And I think I have another kickboxer in there... I'm getting battered this morning! DS, who is 3, started kickboxing last month, it's the cutest thing ever! The sessions are only half an hour long, but it's more about teaching discipline - i.e. sitting and listening to the sensai etc. He loves it too, which is a bonus!

EthelredOnAGoodDay · 07/10/2012 11:13

Hi all

Well, my day is improving by the hour; my MIL, SIL and nephew were supposed to be coming tomorrow. And now they aren't! Huzzah! Grin that sounds awful, but with DH away, have been looking after DD, working and keeping house something like, but obv such a visit would require a full house overhaul! Not any more. Whoop!

tramp I will find out the name of the travel system my friend has. It's recommended on here and is good for tall people . She is VERY picky and loves it! Will check and post later!

Em I had a good experience at York GH. Really good. Very encouraging and despite some minor complications, came away feeling like it was a good experience overall.

Rainbow, saw my friend yesterday who just had DC2 at Harrogate and she said, with the exception of one really wet MW, who she decided she didn't want to see fairly quickly, all the MWs were great and really encouraging. she had a very long, back to back labour and was really struggling, but they really helped her through it.

Am 16+5 weeks now, seeing MW on fri so looking forward to that, plus DH gets home Friday. Hooray!

Funnylittleturkishdelight · 07/10/2012 11:17

Gummi I think I will do that then- hate the thought of the baby rolling and falling off!

Backward come and make me French toast please! DP wasn't in until 5am after looking after some young silly boys on his rugby team who got too drunk. He arrived home sober and very anxious with a dead phone and me very worried and teary. Therefore he is still sleeping and I want to go out! I'm hungry and bored!

Also- belly button is half in half out!

Still no weight gain...am I going to get told off :(

Funnylittleturkishdelight · 07/10/2012 11:18

Good news Ethel! You have got a bonus day!

EthelredOnAGoodDay · 07/10/2012 11:29

tramp it's the UPPAbaby vista. It gets 5stars on the review on here. It's reasonably expensive I think, but she bought hers online from the Glasgow pram centre and got it at a good price and customer service was also great, apparently. I've seen it and it certainly looks v nice!

Emus · 07/10/2012 11:38

Manda - the mac is fixed to a certain degree but still isn't right - grrr. My lovely OH is currently rebuilding today from a time machine back up 'as a bit of a home project' as he's really frustrated that nobody has been able to retire it back to when it was actually working fine last week! Fingers crossed.

Angel - thanks for the Vegas maternity shop tip, I shall investigate (not sure on US sizes though).

Em - I can't remember the last time I bought some Hotel Chocolat but we were out in town yesterday and OH said I shouldn't go into the Old Fashion Sweet Shop so I rebelled and went into Hotel Chocolat instead when he wasn't looking! We shared our goods last night :-) I would love to buy their Christmas tree chocs for the tree (when they start selling them) but they are expensive and I can't justify it! If money were no object though...

Rainbow - I can't add anything about Harrogate hospital except like someone else on here, I was born there. My mum has nothing bad to say about it but that was in the 70's!

Zoey hope your surprise is a good one today, you certainly deserve it!

Last night I actually cooked something from scratch for the first time in ages (I must be getting more energy!). I made a quorn chilli (hot) and today we are having a pork chop roast and tomorrow a nice home made macorroni cheese and salad. :-). Move day is on Friday (fingers crossed, I won't be able to take it if they move the date again!). Looking forward to unpacking and using my slow cooker now that it's getting colder.

Back to packing. Happy Sunday all. Thanks

Funnylittleturkishdelight · 07/10/2012 12:01

I've never had hotel chocolat- am I missing out??

backwardpossom · 07/10/2012 12:06

I've never even heard of it!

EthelredOnAGoodDay · 07/10/2012 12:24

Hotel chocolat--- beautiful chocolate.

pinkpeony4 · 07/10/2012 12:44

Vivee I live in Battersea and for private schools you need to register at birth. We didn't realise with ds1 and only registered him at 15 months and had an absolute nightmare getting him into school. We only got a place on the 7th Sept & he started on the 8th!! My advice if you want to send your child to a private school is to start getting prospectus's now and maybe even go to open days (There are always pregnant ladies at them)& have the registration forms ready to send off when your baby is born. It's a crazy system but seriously competitive!

Tramp we looked at Dulwich College Junior school for when DS1 is 8. The good thing is that once you start at 8 you can stay until you are 18. No more stressing!! Sadly we had to whizz home afterwards because I left my younger two with my au pair who was going out but I would love to go and have a wander around Lordship Lane. The Dogfather sounds amazing too! Your baby shopping sounded good. Which buggies did you like? I never bothered with a changing station either. I have always used a mat on top of a chest of drawers when tiny.

Ood Happy birthday to your dd. I hope she has a fun day.

Manda Glad your tutorial went well. I temped at OUP after finishing Uni & loved it. Everyone was so friendly & the building was a beautiful place to work everyday. Glad your hallway is looking good & hope you get used to the colour! It's always so tricky choosing paint colours & sample pots never seem to give you a true representation! The Little Greene Paint we used is scrubable by the way. It's called Ultra Matt & essential in our house with lots of boys banging into the walls.

Backward Your breakfast sounded amazing!

Thanks to everyone who wrote back about movements yesterday. This morning I felt him move a lot so felt more reassured!

I bought some fab over bump leggings from asos which are seriously comfy & stay up unlike a lot of jeans! Manda I was disappointed with the dress. It made me look enormous everywhere but especially around my boobs. It was also too short. I am 5ft 8 though so might be better on someone shorter?

Another beautiful day here, just been for a lovely long walk on the common. Enjoy your Sundays Grin

zoeymlucas · 07/10/2012 13:13

angel you need pineapple a party isn't a party without the classy delight of cheese and pineapple- and a nice mature cheese YUMMY am actually thinking of making myself a plate now but DH is cleaning kitchen so I wouldn't want to get in way roped into helping

Well went out and DH pulled up outside his sisters, I actually think steam come out my ears and he noticed and said to trust him! When we went in there was a beautiful antique swinging crib in the living room that he has been doing up while I am at work (while sister looks after DS2) and it was all finished, I totally love it it's amazing- he done it early so I can make my own bumpers and drapes as he knows I like to have custom not just shop bought so thought now was a good time- have to say was an amazing surprise and now am going to start material shopping can't decide what sort of theme though :)

I was that please I am even cooking dinner and a homemade pavlova and his fav thick milkshakes later so have been to waitrose and got all the stuff.

amanda will you be going to the Abingdon fair this week- I really want to go but not sure I can get out of work in time- if only for a burger and candy floss!!!

Loving the belly button talk- mine is like a pit so never changes really just can see the bottom later on!!!!

turkish I haven't gained weigh either and in fact have now lost 7 pounds since I was booked in- but to be honest I could do with it so it's prob a good thing- MW told me baby lives on sugar at mo and takes everything it needs first so not to worried as with DS1 I lost 3 stone as was so ill- it didnt work with DS2 and I gained ALOT!

TheAngelshavetheOod · 07/10/2012 13:39

Sent dd1 to the shop and she managed a tin of pineapple

ThreeForTea · 07/10/2012 13:50

Ah, glad you got some movement pink! Chances are now you'll have a footballer from now on and won't get another moments peace!

Zoey your dh sounds like a treasure, and really into this baby thing!! What a lucky little one :) does he do lessons for other dp's?

Well we didn't win the lottery, so much for my mum's special 'feeling'! I took dd to see my old childhood friend with her two year old today. She is also expecting second but in Jan. I took her the crochet blanket that I made for her, which is the second one I've completed and she liked it :)
She is also having to decide on whether or not to have a VBAC, but at the moment she is under the impression that to give birth natrually (vbac or not) you have to be catheterised. Thats definitly not true is it, unless I have missed something in all the (millions) of birth stories I've trawled through?? Confused

zoeymlucas · 07/10/2012 14:00

Phew that's lucky angel you can relax now!

I have given up with crochet three as I just can't get the hang of it so going to stick to sewing- and ur right they only catheterise if you have an epidural as you can't get around its not done for a natural delivery!

GummiberryJuice · 07/10/2012 14:05

Three I think you need a catheter if you get an epidural, but I could be wrong, I've never had either.

Zoey wow lovely surprise

Em2010 · 07/10/2012 15:00

zoey such a lovely surprise! What a thoughtful dh!

pink yikes! School system in London sounds crazy!! We went to look around a private school last weekend for ds to start next September. In any event in turned out to be a lovely school but not right for ds.... so local state it will probably be!

three I had an epidural with ds and wasn't catherterised (sp?!) although i think thats quite common. I've never heard of anyone having one for straightforward natural birth though....!

JoJoBella84 · 07/10/2012 15:47

Thanks possum is it naughty that I've booked an appointment with the midwife tomorrow? I'm not due to see her until 24th week but as I've had the surgery in Aberdeen and my care now needs transferring to York I though I should just get in there and say 'hi, please listen for my baby's heartbeat' as I'm freaking out abit post surgery!!! Besides I tried to call her and she hasn't responded so sod it!!
I can't wait until my scan on Wednesday either! Will just be hugely reassuring as I've not seen baby post op! I soooo hope I can find out the sex :)

zoey Wowee, what a fabby OH you have!! Mine has just left York and is driving back up north for the next 18 days or so. I hope it flies by!!

Im finding I have more energy now, managed to walk into town and back - albeit with a 60 minute lunch break inbetween :)

Fx will be back at Uni by Tuesday... I'm really not looking forward to playing catch up - especially as I've missed 2 weeks of dissertation lectures!!! I have no idea where to begin with such a project!!!

I hope everyone has had lovely weekends, I'm hoping I sleep like a log tonight, I'm not waking up in the early hours for pain relief so I hope this means I'm properly on the mend and as my wound is itchy as hell I assume its healing nicely!!! I just rub in a drop of bio oil when the itchiness gets too bad as I don't want to start picking at scabs :)
