Oh and Zoey how cheeky of your SIL's, who in their right mind would be cross about not getting to see a baby before the mother did, I really want to see my new niece but sil was in Labour for nearly 36 hours, is very sore and tired, so I'm leaving it a few days at least. Think some people have no clue!

When I had ds the midwife wouldn't let anyone into delivery suite when I was in the bath even though dh was there with him, I would have been fuming and I had already seen/cuddled/fed him!

zoeymlucas · 06/10/2012 19:10

It was a bit weird Gummy as was c section so thought would be awake and see him as was 33 weeks and saw DS1 for a few mins and he was 28 weeks so when it didn't work and I had a general it was decided it mins so i didn't think about it and it only really hit me ( as was very ill afterwards) when they all arrived and DH took them to special care and they came back with pictures and telling me about baby! The worst was his mother ( who s not in our life's at all as in mentally unhinged) abusing my text as she knew he was born and she hadn't seen him- neither had bloody I!!! This time we know it's a general because of hyper mobility so know wat to expect so have made rules and they can sulk and moan all they want there is no movement and I will be telling my medical team and special care :)

DS2 has decisded to play with the push along train he got last year so is bombing around the living room so have had to put feet up as the little monkey loves it when he hits your ankles and you say ouch!!

Had a nice day and have managed dinner which was a fry up made by DH- he has just gone to shop as I fancied a chocolate eclair and he said as I ate my dinner he would, lol!!! Loving my hair and have gone for a longish slanted bob which gave my hair the good chop it sooooo needed, come home and DS2 had a 4 hour nap so got to watch a film with DS1 and chill! Now watching strictly come dancing which is my fav as used to do ballroom, modern and Latin before the hip replacements !also found an old sweet shop that sold Nerds and cinnamon chewing gum!!!!!!!!!!

I am hoping you all had fab days too and everyone is starting to feel better- I have read all posts but have eaten since then and now have no clue who said what- is it to early to blame baby brain?????

TheAngelshavetheOod · 06/10/2012 19:13

Here there are rules for who can visit on day 1 for sections. Afternoon is Dad and siblings. Evening dad/grandparents/siblings. Everyone has to be day2.

TheAngelshavetheOod · 06/10/2012 19:15

I had two under GA and wasnt out long , was it because of the emergency/SCBU that you couldn't see them?

zoeymlucas · 06/10/2012 19:28

It was because he was only 33 weeks so went straight to special care and i always have blood pressure issues after GA so i took pretty ill plus had had a epidural that only partially took so not allowed up for 4-6 hours after that!

In my local hospital I sort of have different rules and am allowed visitors all the time and someone there 24/7 due to a previous issue, they were allowed in 2 plus my DH but had been to special care before they got to me and I was so out of it hadn't taken on board that DH was with baby in special care (demanded by me) so could allow them in with him one at a time so they did ' turns' seeing him then both come up with DH to see me

TheAngelshavetheOod · 06/10/2012 19:30

Can you get the hospital to be 'structer' about who is allowed to be with you?

zoeymlucas · 06/10/2012 19:39

Yeah and we won't be announcing his birth as c section can be anytime of day until I have seen him, our hospitalis a 40 min drive so they have been told it will be wasted journey if they come before asked as they will not get in to either baby or me!

TheAngelshavetheOod · 06/10/2012 19:50

With dd3 we didn't tell anyone when I was going in except my parents, no one got told that she was a girl/ name etc until after school & dd1/2 had seen her. Then I let them tell everyone.

Rainbowbabyhope · 06/10/2012 20:06

Em sorry I made you worry about York hospital - you have to remember that my DD was stillborn there so that colours my memories of the place. Having said that, giving birth to her was the most amazing experience ever and was unexpectedly one of the happiest days of my life. The York midwives were really great in making sure we had as positive time as possible even in our circumstances. DH stayed at the hospital every second with me including every single night and the midwives there really tried looked after us (even if I didn't agree with everything they did). So I can imagine York being generally a nice place to give birth. Having no access to my own toilet was terrible but I am not sure this is the case with every labour room in York - might be just the one they put me in.

Zoey I won't be letting anyone visit the baby for at least 1-2 weeks, even family and then only immediate family until 6 weeks. In lots of cultures this is normal because of the importance of not exposing newborns to unnecessary bacteria plus it is a special time that you should be spending with your immediate family unit.

Vivee74 · 06/10/2012 20:38

Pink, quick question re schools. How was the school today. How far in advance do you need to register your children for the waiting list? I'm on the isle of dogs so similar position for schools if this here.

Hope everyone's having a nice Saturday night.

Em2010 · 06/10/2012 20:42

rainbow you have nothing to apologise for! It was very moving just reading about your experiences above. Thank you for sharing. I hope you get the home birth you want. For me I think it's really just a case of it just hitting me that I'm going to have to labour again and the fear of the unknown! I wish I could have a look round the maternity unit before hand. However I never saw hull before ds was born there and I dreaded going in and it ended up fine....!

I'm back in York now, have my mums crazy dogs running around and absolutely shattered so I'm sorry for not managing personals. Hope everyone has had lovely days, I'm looking forward to catching up with all your activities. When I saw bf earlier she had bought me an Isabella Oliver wrap top! It's gorgeous and she is a legend!

Speak soon. Night night All.

zoeymlucas · 06/10/2012 21:10

Ummm time to hang my head in shame I ate my chocolate eclair and then DH's managed to jump in my mouth and get eaten too- I swear the baby done it, lol!!!!
But it did taste good Grin

ThreeForTea · 06/10/2012 21:15

Haha, my mum thinks she's about to win the lottery. Will keep you posted Grin

TheAngelshavetheOod · 06/10/2012 21:20

We didn't win :(

Emus · 06/10/2012 21:36

Haha Zoey! I've been pigging on Hotel Chocolat choccies.

As usual it would appear I'm not just behind on this thread (been working 14-16 hours days this week) but also on everything baby related :-(. We haven't discussed names, nursery stuff, prams/pushchairs etc yet. We have both been so busy with work, new job (OH) and preparing to move house (coupled with my obsession that something is going to happen to baby). Is that a bit weird?! Saying that though, after I heard the heartbeat this week I've found it all a little bit more real! This makes us sound like we don't care and aren't excited. We absolutely are but we are being cautious (overly) about it and getting everything else out of the way first so that we can relax and start to enjoy it!

I am a bit depressed after discovering its not easy to find maternity clothes my size on the high street. We are off to Vegas in a few weeks so I need to start thinking about clothes but I don't really have the time and am going to have to order online and hope for the best. I bought three tops from H&M today (XL) and they fit me now but not sure how useful they'll be when I get an actual baby bump.

Sorry not to acknowledge anyone else but tired as have had a busy day (but good) so might take myself off to bed now. Not even XFactor is holding my attention (and OH is bugging me by asking every minute what it is I'm doing!).

Funnylittleturkishdelight · 06/10/2012 22:18

Hello everyone! Just catching up with the thread, we do love to chat don't we??

Starting to feel proper movements now- 19.3 so bit relieved as managed to stress myself out about it- convinced what I'd felt before wasn't 'proper'. Can't believe how neurotic I am and the baby isn't even here yet!

Have an appt Monday with consultant obstetrician- because of ED history. Do you think I'll get scanned? I really hope so, 20week scan is next Tuesday but I want one NOW! Wanna see little Turkish again and just have that reassurance that everything is alright.

JoJoBella84 · 06/10/2012 23:13

york and surrounding areas there is a baby 'nearly new' sale on 27th October 2012. Joseph Rowntree School, Haxby Road, York 3-5pm.
I've never been to one but I'm assuming there are some bargains to be had! - also might be a good opportunity for a marchers coffee meet?

21 weeks tomorrow :D so exciting :) I'll be happy on Wednesday after my scan - first time seeing baby since surgery - have a MW appt on Monday too, hopefully I'll be able to listen to the heartbeat :)

I hope everyone is having a stress free weekend, I've started with the bio oil today; my scar although neat, is starting to pinch as it's dry and scabbing. I've found it really helpful and only used it once!

Funnylittleturkishdelight · 06/10/2012 23:16

How exciting jojo!

I love my bio oil, I think I'm a little bit addicted to the smell!

Has your belly button 'popped' now?

theTramp · 07/10/2012 00:22

Pink - you're just up road from me my dear. How were schools and did you pop to lordship lane for a fantastic dogfather hotdog?

Emus - buy online because high st is awful & depressing as heck. I've two dresses from IO and I'm wearing them constantly - so comfy. Seraphine is nice too apparently.

Also don't worry about not doing baby stuff yet. If you're moving house you've enough to worry about.

My baby research today was exhausting. However it's between two makes of parm, two different cots, one car seat and I'm not buying a changing table because they're pricey & crap so my plan is to buy a junk shop chest of draws - give it an edge round the top - paint it - ya da changing table and only £50.

Lots of prams a claimed to be good for tall people, really not. iCandy particularly disappointing. And my gawd John Lewis baby department was like a bun fight!

My Mum has bought two baby outfits because she wanted to buy Socs first clothes. So now have a striped pirate baby grow and a baby grow with 3 fishes on the torso. V cute.

My spreadsheet is filling up bit by bit....

Apols to everyone I've missed. Good to see poorly peeps feeling better & getting out & about. Hope the cramps and stomach pain go soon, sounds like you overdid it yesterday and need a rest day.

I've the headache from hell. Been entertaining so only just slunk off to bed. Took a paracetamol - it's that bad. Nnnngh. Roll on sleep & a new day.

Em2010 · 07/10/2012 08:30

tramp sounds like you've made good progress!

emus hotel chocolat choccies are my favourite treat! I can't often afford them so I either have to wait until DM gives me a big box or I go and lurk in the store and wait until I'm offered a sample!! Good luck finding clothes for Vegas trip!

jojo thanks for the update on the nearly new sale. I've been to one before - you need to get there early and then can be a bit of a bunfight but then I'm always meeting people who've got amazing bargains there! I might be going if I have the energy and I can find someone to look after ds!

zoey those pesky jumping eclairs!! Yum! Glad you're feeling we'll enough to enjoy them.

TheAngelshavetheOod · 07/10/2012 08:32

Dd3s birthday today. House full of two year olds & siblings this afternoon. Fun but tiring. Also I LOVE party food Blush

TheAngelshavetheOod · 07/10/2012 08:34

emus don't know what Vegas is like for shopping but the american brand 'pea in the pod' is the best maternity trousers/jeans I've come across. Worth seeing if they have a store!

JoJoBella84 · 07/10/2012 08:57

turkish I'm not sure my belly button will pop out but it hasn't at the mo!! I used to have a shallow inny then had keyhole surgery aged 9 which drove my belly button deeper! The recent op has re opened the old scar so looks like I'm even deeper!!! I may level out but aren't convinced it'll turn out :)
em I've never been to one and can imagine you have to battle for the best bits but could be worth it!!!
It's about a 5 min walk from my student flat so I'll be going anyway, but if anyone wants to come along for a meet it could be a good opportunity :) bring DS along :)

zoeymlucas · 07/10/2012 09:23

Angel I LOVE party food too, homemade sausage rolls, cheese and pineapple and just total rubbish that you can keep picking at- its my fav sort meal :) now a days if it's a family gathering I will honey roast a ham, bake some home made baguettes and do a salad etc so it looks more grown up for them but I more than happy with the kiddie stuff :)

Not liking the sound of the busy shop, which is why I hate the sales as I can't deal with people getting all crazy and silly like that which is why I have never been in primark, I only do sales online regardless of how good they are!!!!

DH has declared he has a surprise for me today so we need to leave here at 10.00am on the dot so best get some clothes on- I learnt long ago not to get too excited by his surprises as I always manage to over hype in my head and then am very disappointed with it, lol!!! Plus I blinking hate surprises!
