Yawn and stuff ... 9 hrs travelling via the lakes and finally unpacked in York!! 14 hours of action in total... Will catch up tomorrow xxx

Rainbowbabyhope · 05/10/2012 23:04

Flowery thank you for your perspective on LGI - good to hear the positive experiences to make sure my decisions are balanced. Totally with you on the point about traveling during labour as I need to be in charge of my own movements and I imagine it would be hard to be restricted in a car/ambulance. I resented being asked to walk down the corridor last time! This is part of the reason I am keen for a homebirth as, combined with care from my independent midwives, there is no NHS labour policies to adhere too - no midwives trying to get you to lie down on the hospital bed, or move you from room to room. And most importantly my own toilet! I was absolutely appalled last time at there being no toilet in the labour room and I kept having to walk up and down a long busy corridor to get to one which I had to do a lot as I happened to find labouring in the toilet the most comfortable place much to the dismay of the hospital midwives!

Zoey I am putting the same rule in place about me seeing baby first - in fact no visitors of any kind until expressly invited by me!

ThreeForTea · 06/10/2012 00:00

Lanny you have made me think again about having flu jab. I had kind of decided not to because I have been getting so ill all the time during this pregnancy, sounds a bit the same as you hermione but just a bit confused about whether or not because of that I am likely to suffer after it? Confused They sent me a letter today so I might just make the appointment and can always say no thank you if the nurse doesn't think it is a good idea to do me because of all my other ailments.

Manda I hope you bought a cake, Grin or I might start doubting that you are a real human woman! Only joking, just still very impressed by your stamina :) Ooer your mil sounds quite full on, but glad she is pleased, and hope she finds lots of ways to be helpful but not infuriating! Mine was fine today thanks. She only stayed an hour, said 'ooh, I wasn't expecting to be fed' when given her tea (don't turn up at teatime then!), and enthusiasticly admired dd's beautiful collage picture that she made at Surestart yesterday which obviously makes me happy. A very successful visit all in all!

Zoey his sisters sound odd Hmm who wouldn't understand that??

tiddley could you go to beer fest and just have sips? :)

I'm feeling better now, had lots of rest today at a friends who made me an amazing soup for lunch and played with dd in the garden while I read magazines. DH went to work late and came home early so I didn't have to do to much lone dd care while feeling poorly. I'm just going to try to rest this weekend, we'll be at mum's on Sunday so help with dd there too. I really need to make it in on Monday and get my teeth back into my project, am determined to do a good job so they will let me keep the role :)

Am going to go to NCT nearly new sale tomorrow actually, they are only once every three months round here, and there might be some bits I like or some mat clothes fx.

ThreeForTea · 06/10/2012 00:27

Oh, something a bit surreal happened earlier. I popped into cafe for a coffee (same lovely one as other day), met a friend who was in for coffee also so sat with her. There was woman by herself at another table bfeeding a lovely newborn, so as my friend and I help with the baby group thats held in the same building we thought we'd introduce ourselves and invite her along. She told us a little bit about herself and some of the details just sounded really familiar to me: her daughters name, the fact that she'd just moved to the area and the fact her baby was new etc. I began to suspect that she was someone I knew from MN, who i'd pm'd when I was on the September 12 AN thread before we lost our baby. Still wasn't sure though so I asked her her name and when she told me I said 'does your husband work at xxx?' she said he did!

I so don't know the ettiquete, but I never speak to my friends about being on mn in case they look out for me and its awkward. My friend went and sat back down so I said to the lady, 'oh, I think we messaged before on mn!' a little furtivley and she said 'what?' and looked at me a little confused. I said about being on the thread and some of the 'clues' that made me think it was her, but until she remembered I think I freaked the poor woman out! Blush Luckily it was ok and she messaged me again earlier and might come along to our group. I'd messaged her before because she was in the process of moving to our town and didn't know anyone, but that was probably way back in January so can imagine I might be a bit blank if a random stranger in cafe approached me like that! That's the first time i've met another mnetter in rl and recognised them like that though, felt really odd!

Lexiindisguise · 06/10/2012 00:32

Just wanted to add my docs wrote & advised fly jab, I had it as I've had proper flu before & it was hideous, I was wiped out for weeks & so sick with fever etc. Each person is different but only side effect for me was sore itchy arm for a few days. I understand risk of complications from flu is higher during pregnancy & that + lowered immune system is why they recommend it.
Night night all - sleep well!

zoeymlucas · 06/10/2012 07:53

His sister are always the 'victim' three no matter what the circumstances so this is just another cause for them to play it, however I won't be budging sothey can carry on to be honest :)

Well a bit excited as sad as it sounds but off to a nice hairdressers this morning for a dye and re style and am looking forward to it :)

On the flu jab I have had it every year for 10 years and it's never made me I'll- so will be having it again this year :)

Hope you got a good nights sleep jojo after all that travelling and remember you are still recovering so a day of resting is needed!

mandasand · 06/10/2012 08:40

Just popping in to say happy Saturdays!

Off for shower then to go out in search of a cake (on Three's encouragement!) for my first tutorial with new OU group. A little nervous about saying I'll only be with them for half the course, then returning for their study day in May. I usually put in tons of effort getting to know them and always get good feedback, so I'm a bit anxious that they won't engage as wholeheartedly knowing that I'm buggering off! Eek?

Lexi hope pub was good!

Tramp you sound v sorted! Gorge is cute. Ours are going to be Little Bears. Well, they already are but they just don't know it yet! I am getting ridiculously desperate for these babies to hurry up and come - sometimes I could burst with the love I'm beginning to feel for my bump!

myjob hope it wasn't a migraine and that a good sleep sorted you out!

lanny you're right about the ante-natal care disparity. seems extraordinary! I dunno if it's the NHS per se that's to blame; perhaps more how decision-making and allocation of funds has been devolved to the local level so service overall is patchy (actually, I'm not sure if I'm 100% about this topic so I'll shut up now!)

Three glad your MiL visit was a goodie! I think I would have handled the MN etiquette exactly as you did Smile Glad she might come along to your group too - how lovely!

Thanks to all for flu jab advice. I had no idea about that?

Vivee poor you re whooping cough Sad Hope you can take some time out from conference this weekend.

JoJo take it easy this weekend - nice and slow and lots of sleep and treats!

Zoey happy hairdo!

HermioneBoo · 06/10/2012 10:29

Am crying with laughter at the dream I had last night, I dreamt that BabyBoo had to be born now but somehow survived and I was just told to go home with it and start being a mum. Trouble is it was only about six inches big and I kept losing it, I kept putting it in my handbag and losing it so I thought I'd put BabyBoo in the fridge for safe keeping! I woke up so stressed with myself because I thought I'd not fed BabyBoo for ages and it would be getting cold in the fridge and had to stop myself from checking the fridge when I woke up!
Honestly, I've a lot to worry about with my dream self's mothering skills!

manda I totally get what you mean when you say you get so excited about meeting your babies, I have little yelps of excitement every so often when I think this time next year hopefully ill have a LO to look after :)

Em2010 · 06/10/2012 10:35

Morning All, just a very quick post! Just woken up at 9.45am!!! However was up half the night stressing out about York hospital and not having my own bathroom in labour! I'm really nervous about going to York when i had such a good experience at Hull last time....
Okey dokey need to get my shower in and go round and see my best friend who I haven't seen since her ivf success! She has croissants too Smile

JoJoBella84 · 06/10/2012 10:50

Wow you ladies can talk :)

I ache so much today - probably shouldn't have unpacked my suitcase last night but I'm pleased I don't have to do it this morning. I've got quite a chilled out relaxed family day today. Getting the bus into town for lunch - I'd normally walk the 15 mins but really can't face exercise and socialising!!! Then can get the road train to the national railway museum to entertain FIL and nephews!!
Mostly a day of sitting down and food :)

Am trying to sort the house out for dd3s birthday party tomorrow. Dh has been prepping food but has gone to work now. So I still need to sort kitchen , bathroom & her present tonight!

tiddleypompom · 06/10/2012 12:50

Poor you myjob (oh and hello by the way, I had neglected to welcome you on board before now!). Lots of R&R today? I had to run over the bridge to catch a train last week, carrying DS's pushchair (mum had DS) and I felt rubbish for the whole day. Silly me overdoing it, will I never learn? Hope you feel better soon.

manda DS had the cutest brown coat when he was 3 months from Boden, which had bear ears - hence it was called the 'brown bear'. He has the next size up but in blue and white stripes (the blue bear) but is about to outgrow it - and Boden haven't brought a new one uot this season, oh no!! I need a new baby to fit the brown one :)

hermione I love the dream! I dreamt I gave birth to an otter last time. Weird.

Off on hols tomorrow, via the hospital for my scan. I just had a call from the midwife sonographer asking if we can come half and hour earlier so she can finish on time. Seriously different to Birmingham, where all my scans were at least 45 mins late. I like it in the country :)

Right - I need to pack. Off I skedaddle - happy days all!

p.s. ate a chelsea bun earlier from the farmers market. Oh my word it was nice.

pinkpeony4 · 06/10/2012 13:26

Tiddley My ds1 had that coat and they have all worn it, it's so sweet!

Myjob I hope you have a quiet day planned, that sounds horrid.

Em VERY jealous of your 9.45am wake up! Have a lovely day with your friend.

Manda I hope your tutorial goes well. Is it in Oxford? You sound lovely if you are taking cake of any kind!

Hermione I love pregnancy dreams and yours was very funny indeed!

Zoey Enjoy your haircut. I hope you are feeling better.

Three That is very funny bumping into & recognising a fellow Mumsnetter!!

Vivee Poor your with the whooping cough. I have read so many horrible stories about people who have had it for months and months or tiny babies who have it. I will definitely have the injection as soon as I am eligible. I am booked in for the flu jab next week too. I have had it for the past few years after a nasty bout of pneumonia that took weeks to recover from.

We went to a school open day this morning in Dulwich which was good but scary at the same time. School's around us are so competitive. We live in a no mans land for State schools and so have to go private. This was a school from 7-18 so at least if you get in the pressure is then off for schooling! It's such a beautiful Autumnal day here, I think it's my favourite season.

For all those feeling movement, how often do you feel it? I am starting to worry that I am not feeling enough but can't remember what is normal at this stage... (19 weeks). With my last two I had an anterior placenta and so didn't feel it until much later but this time my placenta isn't anterior and I have been feeling movement for ages just not that regularly.

StealthToddler · 06/10/2012 14:13

I can't keep up with you lot!!!!

TheAngelshavetheOod · 06/10/2012 14:18

Pink I'm 17 weeks on Monday. I feel movement every day or two but I have to have quiet times to do so. If I'm busy I don't feel anything. Couple of times it's been when I'm feeding dd3 not sure if it's cos we are sat quiet or she's a trigger.

Lexiindisguise · 06/10/2012 15:04

I'm 19 weeks and have only felt one or two flutters - as heartbeat was OK am hoping this is due to my natural padding rather than anything to worry about.
Feeling rather off colour and tired today after a lovely pub meal; all I want to do is hibernate at home, read mags and crochet. It's odd as normally I am a total 'out the house' person who wants to be socialising and out and about all the time; I just want to be at home with the cats and DH at the moment!

TheAngelshavetheOod · 06/10/2012 15:33

Lexi is it your first? It does tend to be later due to not entirely been sure what you are feeling. Plus early on movements tend to be because baby has turned round rather than just moved their hand IYSWIM

Lexiindisguise · 06/10/2012 15:48

Angels it is my first - reassuring to hear I'm not unusual - thank-you! :)

GummiberryJuice · 06/10/2012 16:12

I'm only catchining up now, so thought I'll post and read as on phone so by the time I get next 2 pages read I will have forgotten who I wanted to reply to

Sheld with dd1 I went for a very fancy newbaby caraway that had 3 recline positions (I have yet to see one since) and a chassis that car seat could attach to or carry cot attachment. I hardly used the catrycot bit. So with dd2 I went for a travel system as I found that lifting them out of carseats and into leans to lie flat very disturbing on their sleep pattern. I just looked at as it wasnt as if they were sleeping in it all the time.
Although ds couldn't sleep flat anyway as he had reflux

TheAngelshavetheOod · 06/10/2012 16:13

Also of you have an anterior placenta it can muffle them. Don't know if you know where yours is? I have no idea as they didn't mention anything at my scan. Though 9 weeks would have been early as they move slightly.

ThreeForTea · 06/10/2012 16:38

Pink i'm 18 weeks today and began to feel prod type movements a few days ago, but have had flutters for a coupe of weeks at least. With first pg I don't think I felt recognisable movements until about 20 weeks though!

GummiberryJuice · 06/10/2012 17:31

Hermoine I had series dream too, I had the baby and wasn't allowed to see it until it was a day old, but looked more like a 6 month old, and when I went to feed it, it had to big teeth and bit me, I woke in a total panic

Pink I'm only feeling things every now and then, and sometimes I doubt I even felt something I so can't wait for proper big kicks

Flu jab if any of you haven't made mind up please do consider it I have had proper flu, I couldn't walk my joints were so sore, it really was awful, took me weeks to recover, I wouldn't want that when pg, even having the cold when pg can feel flu like

backwardpossom · 06/10/2012 17:41

I need to phone about flu jab, def going to get it. I meant to ask about it at midwife appt last week, but forgot in all the excitement of hearing the heartbeat. Will phone on Monday... Doc or midwife do you think?

GummiberryJuice · 06/10/2012 17:52

Just doctor, my doctors had remember to book leaflets, and the receptionist said to me you need to book dd1, and I said me too, she was all excited, I've been going to surgery from I was 7 so very friendly and they are so lovely,
