Welcome to the connecting bus ladies, next stop morning sickness, booking in, and dating scans. Grin
Estimated Time of Arrive late May early June 2013.

I know we said we'd wait until the end of the month, But I'm so excited. and hungry, and need a wee again, and nervous, and my boobs hurt, and the voyeuristic spiders are still watching me

We'll keep our FX that we all stay the distance, and our ttc sisters will join us soon.

Erm, just read that can still eat Stilton! Christmas is back on! Whoop!

Jojoba1986 · 30/09/2012 23:55

Stilton? Really? I thought it was especially nice because it's deemed naughty due to unpasteurised-ness and mouldiness! I never always pay attention to the rules! & deliberately set about breaking all the silly ones I'm not a good girl, I am not! Grin

kittykatskumkwat · 01/10/2012 07:49

I break the carrying a small child too although at almost 2 stone she doesn't feel small!! What can you do, sorry darling I know your only 1 and want your mummy to pick you up but I can't!
My top tip while pregnant and last time I was a first time mum and although stuck to the eating things pretty much, all eggs stuff is usually pasturised I dont like cheese anyway and ofcourse i dont drink ( i think ive poss had a toast at weddings etc)I just didn't read books etc simple!! All you will see are the extreme sides of things, if you type anything into google to do with pregnancy no's there will be someone telling you no to it, just be sensible, that way there's a small chance you may enjoy it

IBelieveInPink · 01/10/2012 07:52

Yep jojo Stilton is a yes according to nhs. Nom Nom.
kitty that sounds like the most sensible advice ever. Like it :)

FrustratedSycamorePants · 01/10/2012 08:15

kitty my small child is 4. And my back is dodgy anyway (this year I've already had sciatica and knocked it out twice by sneezing) and isn't feeling to good today.
On top of that I've been sick twice this morning. And am feeling very sorry for myself, especially since I have to work. [pity me emoticon]

Oh no frus much sympathy Sad
I must admit I felt like I was ripped from my sleep this morning it was horrible it was a very strange dream aswell with a midgit/ small evil thing like chucky trying to get me on a film set!!
I ended up googling hot baths last night to remind myself why we wernt surposed to, I know why I don't read it all now, it's proper scare mongering and my baths are the one thing I love in the world, feel guilty now should I not have them, I have given up diet coke and things with asparitine in this pregnancy aswell because of the mc I had although again made no difference with dd and I'm allready enjoying it less, I had hot baths the whole time with dd as I never really looked anything up and shes perfect, now if I'm led to believe right I'll be giving the new baby brain damage!!!

FrustratedSycamorePants · 01/10/2012 08:26

kitty I thought it was because of the old wife's tale about hot baths and gin.

kittykatskumkwat · 01/10/2012 08:38

I just thought it was about raised blood pressure which I couldnt care less about, apparently it's about restricting blood flow to bean?! Don't want to cause harm but can't help thinking is that serious?! I've certainly never seen any real life stories, hot baths gave my baby brain damage!!

FrustratedSycamorePants · 01/10/2012 08:47

I think bean is well protected in there.

Thundercatsarego · 01/10/2012 10:05

Morning all. I was also pleased to read that Stilton is allowed but have only had one bath in the last 3 weeks because I like it scorching hot and just didn't want to take any chances. Don't worry, I do shower regularly...!

Just been to first doc's appt. was strange hearing 'congratulations' said to me, still just doesn't feel real at all. So I've registered with the midwife, and they will call me back to book me in for first appt between 8-10 weeks. Back to the waiting game then!

FrustratedSycamorePants · 01/10/2012 10:08

Grin thunder congratulations

Sorry to be the spoilt sport here but Stilton is not ok to eat when pregnant! It's only ok in cooking sauces when it's bubbling hot. It clearly says on the NHS website don't eat soft blue-veined cheeses which is what Stilton is :-/ Sorry, don't shoot the messenger!

peardrop2 · 01/10/2012 10:38

Ok I'm going to eat my words lol It's ok to eat Stilton...I still think there is an error because this contradicts with everything else I've read. I'm totally confused that NHS list Stilton as a hard cheese?! Sorry for the confusion I've caused

peardrop2 · 01/10/2012 10:39

I still won't be eating it. How can it be a hard cheese when it is made out of mould and blue veins?

peardrop2 · 01/10/2012 10:41

Yeah you see I looked on another site and it says Stilton is a blue veined cheese and not safe to eat unless cooked...hmm I wonder if NHS web has made a mistake. Surely they would have picked up on this by now!?

Thundercatsarego · 01/10/2012 10:52

And breathe, pear!

I read this on nhs website:

You can eat hard cheeses such as cheddar, parmesan and stilton, even if they're made with unpasteurised milk. Hard cheeses don't contain as much water as soft cheeses so bacteria are less likely to grow in them. Many other types of cheese are OK to eat, but make sure they're made from pasteurised milk. This includes cottage cheese, mozzarella, feta, cream cheese, paneer, ricotta, halloumi, goats' cheese and processed cheeses such as cheese spreads.

peardrop2 · 01/10/2012 11:18

Hi Thunder yes I read that on the NHS website this morning too which is why I had to quickly back track before you lot shot me down Grin I brought a book from Amazon called 'What to eat when you're expecting' by Dr Conway which was last released in 2011 so it should be fairly up to date. It has a A-Z list which I find very helpful. It says that Stilton is not safe unless it is cooked and piping hot. I'm sure the NHS is right actually i have my own doubts but I'm just going to keep going with this book otherwise I will have a breakdown if I have to much contradicting advice in my brain :-) I'm not sure these ante-natal threads are very good for me as all the stuff you talk about contradicts my 'what to expect when expecting book' Maybe I should slowly disappear :-)

kittykatskumkwat · 01/10/2012 11:45

Pear I was just thinking the exact same thing as that bath thing has really upset me, I was happier before oblivious, I think in fairness you are taking it very seriously, there are millions that have healthy babies all the time who never follow "the rules" I never found I had to alter my diet much last time just make sure things were cooked proerly but I still ate leftovers etc, I've never been ill before and wasn't again they are very cautious but you just do what makes you happy, if you want to follow a books advice all the way go for it, I think there will always be women who poo poo following things and those who follow it to the letter, no right or wrong just what's best for you

kittykatskumkwat · 01/10/2012 11:48

You do sound like you have alot of books though Grin

Thundercatsarego · 01/10/2012 11:52

Hi pear and kitty, I agree with both of you. It's the contradicting advice that messes with your mind. If you have a book that you like and trust then just stick to that and don't let other things worry you. That's what I'm trying to do anyway. I read the nhs website and haven't read anything else, not going to do anything to excess and I'm happy with that. If other people are doing things differently to me, that's fine!

I agree about there being a downside to all the chat on here. I need to be thinking about it all less, so am trying just to chill out about it all more and welcome distractions!

FrustratedSycamorePants · 01/10/2012 12:00

I agree. There is so much conflicting information. And it changes all the time. I think you need to go with what you feel happy with.

kittykatskumkwat · 01/10/2012 12:10

Totally agree, the boundaries change all the time, it's like weaning, babies on back etc all different to years ago, I think common sence will prevail, I do remember my friend making me think what madness some people are like when she was talking about stoping sterilising her dd bottles at 1, this was the week before but she wouldn't do it then as guidelines said 1, I did think seriously do you think that week will make a difference?!? Will something happen that will flick in her brain and say oh I'm ok now I don't need protecting against bugs! At the same time I met another mum on number 3 who said with number 1 she steralized everything, with number 2 most things and by number 3 she was just rinsing them in hot water lol
For the most part apart from mc most probably 99% of people go on to have healthy babies whatever they do

IBelieveInPink · 01/10/2012 13:46

I completely agree, everything in moderation can't go too wrong.

On a new and exciting note, just got my booking in appointment! 15th, 2 weeks today, just before 8 weeks. Yay!!

Thundercatsarego · 01/10/2012 15:49

ponk! Nice one to have the appt to look forward to!

I am SOOO tired. Having trouble holding my head up today Sad

peardrop2 · 01/10/2012 15:51

I know how you feel. I'm really struggling today :-( I miss my afternoon weekend naps!!
