Am MNing in bed with a sleeping DD and whinnie the pooh snuggled up. It's very sweet, but I shall spend the night being kicked from the inside and from the outside too, while DH sleeps in the spare room. And I'm the one off to work tomorrow while DH has one of his SAHD days! However, all will be forgiven when DD wakes me up saying "oi-lo" and then "cuggles" and DH takes her downstairs and makes me breakfast. Not sure how this will work once baby is here if DD is still on cot refusal. DH will have to have her while I have baby, but he never bloody hears her in the night!

ValiumQueen · 25/09/2012 21:48

evil so long as the baby is warm enough, you can put it in whatever you want! It is your baby! I would go for comfort, and layers are good. With DD1 she had a special going home outfit, Winnie the Pooh. Cannot recall what DD2 had. This one will wear whatever he had on at last nappy change. Much more important things to worry about! Dress it as a smurf if you want [grim]

ValiumQueen · 25/09/2012 21:49

Apologies, that was meant to be a grin!

ValiumQueen · 25/09/2012 21:54

I think baby gros are wonderful as socks do not stay on, unless you use sock-ons that cut off the blood supply! They are so comfy too, and easy, and you do not have the top riding up so their back gets cold problem, and you are less likely to drop them IMO. And you don't have to get them changed into day or night wear as it is all the same.

I have his Halloween outfit all washed and ready.

TheDetective · 25/09/2012 21:55

I had a little romper suit with socks (and matching hat and bootees), and snow suit for DS when going home, he was an early March arrival, and we left late evening.

Some people have a special outfit, some don't! I won't this time Grin although I am coveting a first trip out outfit, which is a soft white velour dungaree and vest set covered in tiny silver stars, with matching hat :)

I say go for layers too :)

Evilwater · 25/09/2012 21:55

Thanks VQ.
My head has been in a spin, or full of sand. I can't think straight... Grr.....

TheDetective · 25/09/2012 21:56

I love babygrows too VQ. I have a few outfits, but mostly babygrows. For ease :)

Titsalinabumsquash · 25/09/2012 21:59

I have super fruit and milk cravings Confused I shall assume my body is asking for more calcium and vitamins that my current diet of chocolate and mince pies isn't providing Blush

Wee one is a wiggly beast as usual and I swear he is still somersaulting on a daily basis, I wish he'd settle down into one position or another, it blardy well hurts!

TheDetective · 25/09/2012 22:00

Does anyone have any opinions on what seems (well here anyway) to be a new trend of dummy clips, and other 'personalised' baby items?

My SIL has been making them for the last few months, and she is very good at them, they look lovely, but she keeps offering to make things for me, and I just don't feel they are safe.

Anything that is used for a young baby to me should not have potentially small parts such as the beads used for the clip etc.

SIL has just posted a picture of a dummy which she has covered in diamante stones, and it just makes me worry so much. How can that be safe for a baby?

She has been making dummy clips, hairbands, personalised socks, keyrings, etc.

How do others feel about them?

Evilwater · 25/09/2012 22:12

I had the curry and nothing.Sad
Bag packed one small vest plus grow, then one 3-6months vest and grow. I've also got a going home outfit. I hope this will be enough, I'm sure my family would love to bring in stuff. I really don't want to be that woman that brings in a huge amount of stuff, you know the ones.

As for personalised stuff, we havn't the money. it also seem very materailistic, but that's my personal view.

NervousAt20 · 25/09/2012 22:14

detective I personally wouldn't want to use something like that, all those little gems that can fall off into mouths and up noses, I'd just rather not, think I'll be enough of a worrier without adding anything else. I'm sure the dummy is cute to look at but not very practical

kissyfur · 25/09/2012 22:15

Not really my cup of tea detective if I'm honest. I'd worry about having beads or diamanté on anything for a baby.

Was thinking I'd reuse DD's going home outfit as its neutral, it's a little white velour baby gro with ducks embroidered on, and a white fluffy hooded jacket Smile tis very cute. I also mostly used baby gros for the early weeks, just seem a lot easier and comfy for baby

I still haven't packed my hospital bag! Feeling very lazy when hearing about you all doing yours Blush

NervousAt20 · 25/09/2012 22:19

evil I'm one of them that over pack Grin I just can't help it, I am trying not to though, going to pack one bag to take so me and LO have enough
For a day or 2 then leave another bag at home with extra stuff for us both in case were in longer then DP can just bring it in and swap it for the dirty stuff which he wouldn't take a hint to wash

I think DP is living in some la la land, I said to him the other day that I was going to start cooking and batch freezing some meals so we can still have dinners when LO arrives he will not cook under and circumstance and he looked at me so shocked and said why it's not like I won't have time to prepare proper dinners every night because I'll be at home everyday so can do it when the baby sleeps!!!

Evilwater · 25/09/2012 22:20

Kisseyfur I'm 37 weeks, full term now, and don't I feel it!
Just walking up the stairs is getting difficult.

ValiumQueen · 25/09/2012 22:23

evil did you mean to put 3-6 months, or is that the sand again? Even I would not be able to produce a baby big enough to fill one that big. 0-3 perhaps.

detective I agree with you completely! So dangerous (and poncy). DD2 is 2.4 and I will not leave her alone with a bobble or a clip due to the risk of her swallowing it or stuffing it in an orifice. I even take her socks off in the car, unless shoes have buckles, and also in bed as she loves stuffing them in her mouth. I admit it. I am a helicopter mummy.

ValiumQueen · 25/09/2012 22:25

evil let's hope your baby doesn't decide to stay put for another five weeks then eh?

ValiumQueen · 25/09/2012 22:27

nervous did you hit him? Do you want me to hit him? Get shelly to hit him, as she would do it good!

Evilwater · 25/09/2012 22:27

Yes 3-6 months. Damn sand.
I can't wait to get this babe out, so I can breathe.
Evil

Evilwater · 25/09/2012 22:29

VQ I might have gone mad, or due to the sand, I might be one of those that forgotten all about it.

Sophiathesnowfairy · 25/09/2012 22:29

apple I too have been getting period type pains on and off for a week now and am assuming they a Braxton hicks. I don't know though because I didn't get these type pains till the last two weeks or so last time Hmm but I had had loads of tightenings of the whole bump last time. It just goes to show all pregnancies are different.

Perhaps I should just finish off my bag.

Scan on Thurs as well as last day at work. Grin

daisy congrats on your little boy I hope all is progressing well.

NervousAt20 · 25/09/2012 22:30

I just laughed and told him if he's expecting a freshly cooked dinner every night then he can go to his mums nutter

Grin I might take you up on that

TheDetective · 25/09/2012 22:39

3-6 months will be huuuuuuuge Evil even 0-3 is very big on newborns! I'd pack a few more vests/baby grows, you will need them. I promise! And don't bother with 3-6, it will drown baby for now Grin

I'm of the school of thought that you can't have too much when it comes to baby clothing. They are messy little creatures!

applepieinthesky · 25/09/2012 23:00

sophia yeh I'm hoping they're Brixton Hicks. I do get tightenings of the whole bump but not at the same time as the period type pains though so I'm not sure.

Come to think of it I've had diarrhoea as well which I read can be another sign of premature labour but it could just be that I'm run down because of this cold I've had.

Sometimes I wish Google didn't exist Confused

StuntNun · 25/09/2012 23:30

The burning pain has gone. Thank you Rennies.
