Congratulations daisy - I hope you get to hold your little one soon and that he goes from strength to strength.

eversomuch · 25/09/2012 11:12

Wow! First arrival! Congratulations Daisy. Must have been a bit scary, but sounds like your LO is in good hands. Hope he is in your arms very, very soon!

Just a few days until our house move so things are manic here, but a quick post to say I had my 34wk scan yesterday. All fine with measurements, but both radiologists agreed that I should have an ELCS because of the location of two of my fibroids (one near the cervix). Confirms what my gut instinct was telling me all along. Appointment with the consultant next Monday and should get a date then. Hoping they'll let me go to term.

Has anyone here ever had an ELCS at 40wks or were you advised to go earlier?

YellowWellies · 25/09/2012 11:24

No third arrival - whereistheball had her twins last month - don't forget them! Good luck with your ELCS everso

ValiumQueen · 25/09/2012 11:41

Thank you brockle The Head said the reason she had been 'targeted' is because she is so kind and did not want to see him being left out of things, and that she has 'advanced social skills' as she has been able to largely manage him (proud) I am concerned that she now has this link of being nice and kind, to being hurt. Then again, that is likely to happen many times in her life, especially where boys are concerned

everso they will likely say 39 weeks, as they will want to preempt nature. At 39 weeks the baby is pretty much fully cooked anyway, and it is a week less pain, discomfort and poor sleep. Welcome to the ELCS club!

ValiumQueen · 25/09/2012 11:46

Heard final decision from Tax Credits. We owe them £670 for last tax year, which is not as bad as I thought. No fine or imprisonment, and they will claim it back over the next 3 years. Payments dropping by £300 per month, which is a bit of a bummer, but we knew they had been overpaying us from April as they would not let us update the information. I could possibly appeal this years, but I will discuss with DH first. Payments will go up again in April next year. It is ironic that this is when we need the money! Still, as I say, we were expecting a hefty fine, so all is good.

Iheartpasties · 25/09/2012 11:46

Oh yes - how is whereistheball getting on? does anyone know?

StuntNun · 25/09/2012 12:37

VQ were you expecting a fine? I thought they usually just reclaim it over time. Apparently I didn't pay enough income tax this year (so much for getting a rebate) and the Inland Revenue plan to take it of my next year's salary. Good luck with that, after being made redundant I don't think I'll be working again soon!

Also VQ I wouldn't worry about upsetting the little boy's parents, so long as you're civil and understanding they should be fine (as long as they're normal people and not the 'my baby is a little angel' type). My DS1 got a bit too excited and rough at Ju Jitsu last night and I said to him afterwards that if I saw anyone treating him like that I would march over and drag them off him. Nobody got hurt but it's supposed to be pretend fighting and he was a bit too serious about it. The boy's mummy wouldn't want her son comining home from school with injuries so she'll probably be embarrassed but receptive.

My nesting has reached the bedroom and I have folded up all DH's clothes although I'm not bloody ironing them again after he carefully screwed them up into balls in the wardrobe. Bearing in mind that he is away on business for eight days and I have a load of washing to do, he still has 26 t-shirts and 22 shirts. Is it just me or is this a bit excessive? I may have to give him an ultimatum when he gets back, either take some of his clothes to the charity shop or buy me a wardrobe of my own! He bought two new shirts for going to Japan for crying out loud! And I know he has had some of these clothes since before I met him in 1994. Grrr. Rant over.

Whereistheball had a thread over in prem babies but I can't find it now and Advanced search isn't turning anything up. I might PM her to see if she is ok.

Iheartpasties · 25/09/2012 13:01

ah! the baby just did a big flip! i thought it wouldn't have enough room to do that!! so wierd. it took me ages to get used to not having a bump after dd was born.

georgee · 25/09/2012 13:06

Congratulations Daisy! Wonderful news that your little one is here and safe, and a very good weight! Keep us posted on the name! Wishing you all the best xxx

ValiumQueen · 25/09/2012 13:07

stunt the Tax Credits utterly confuse me, and I was fearful they had overpaid us by more than that, and I had not told them childcare had gone down then up again. It seems we have to tell them each time it goes up or down by £10 per month. That would have been a call every month almost. I am glad it is sorted for now.

His parents are decent folk, but his mum is very wee and anxious, and there never seems to be any consequences to his behaviour outside of school. For example, telling me he was going to kill my daughter, within my daughters earshot, was met with 'that is not a very nice thing to say' and physical violence towards his mum is met with 'don't hurt mummy' or threats to take his play station off him. I do not like to judge other parents, and I do not know the full story, but I cannot help but wonder if she is part of the problem.

Perhaps while DH is away, a few things could get lost in the wash?

My giraffe print nappy arrived today Grin

ShellyBobbs · 25/09/2012 13:19

OMG! Congratulations Daisy. Both my sisters started life in that SCBU and both are now pains in the bum 20 odd years later Grin Glad you are both OK, take it easy and have lots of rest x

applepieinthesky · 25/09/2012 13:20

Congrats daisy. That sounds a very healthy weight considering how early he was. I hope it's not too long before you can take him home xx

StuntNun · 25/09/2012 13:23

VQ I accidentally recycled a few things already that I think he won't miss. I never met a man with so many clothes! He never throws anything out. There are ten pairs of jeans here and I'm sure at least half of them don't button up any more. I'm just jealous because I have about three pairs of jeans and six tops that fit me at the moment.

Giraffe print nappy sounds fab!

VQ your poor little DD, I don't really have any advice but sounds like you have had alot from the wise ladies on here, a diary sounds a good idea and if she has marks/bruises could you take pictures and log them in the diary aswell

Hope the ladies with BH ect are feeling better

daisy congratulations on your little boy!! Hope you both are doing well and you get cuddles soon

ShellyBobbs · 25/09/2012 13:26

VQ I have to say you are being very restrained and sensible about all this. I think I would have done the same as you right up until he turned, then I would have seen red and screamed bloody murder!

My youngest is 8 today (bless) and I don't care what is up with the lad, I would have physically wanted to throttle the little bas*d! Obviously I wouldn't have, but my god I would have stomped into that school telling them to get him out of the class immediately as it had gone too far! Oooohhh I'm fuming now just reading about her ordeal.

I should really take a lesson here on how to do things properly, but if push came to shove I'd just turn into a screaming banshee Grin.

Hope everything works out VQ, it's bloody horrible when your kids are hurt or threatened in any way.

ShellyBobbs · 25/09/2012 13:35

Stunt, my hubby is a massive Man City fan, and his wardrobe was bulging with loads of footie tops, jackets and general crap that didn't fit him. Over a few weeks I ebayed it, and have to say that some brought a good price Grin I charity shopped loads to then fessed up after I'd transfered the paypal money to my bank account. Not a happy bunny but what could he do? I'd been telling him I was going to do it, and I like to treat everyone in the house the same :)

I was in a shop yesterday, I crouched down to get some stuff off the bottom shelf and got stuck! I was literally too heavy for my poor little legs and as I attempted to stand for the umpteenth time I sort of went over at an angle and ended up on a heap on the floor, very embarrassing. But not as embarrassing as a man running up to me to help me up, me saying I'm OK and then having to 'climb' up the shelves to stand up Shock

Didn't get to sleep until 4.30am, was up at 7 playing karaoke with my youngest's birthday present! Have made some chocolate rice crispies buns ready to give out later at school, but have to hand them out myself at the door as it's not condoned by the school as it's a 'healthy eating school' even though the PTA have bun sales every 2 weeks and school discos sell fizzy pop and sweets.

YellowWellies · 25/09/2012 13:35

I've just caught up on thereistheball's news. There's a reason I couldn't find her in search - I'd remembered her name as whereis.... Child give me my brain back! All seems to be good from her latest update. Her wee boys are still in hospital but have been transferred to a hospital closer to home so she's not doing the crazy hours and hours long round trip to see them. They've also gained 50% on their birthweights.

ValiumQueen · 25/09/2012 13:45

shelly poor you getting stuck!

horseylady · 25/09/2012 13:52

Stunt - is that all?! My dh has 100's if shirts and t- shirts.

He wears the same ones over and over again!!! I will get him to go through them again this weekend!!

StuntNun · 25/09/2012 14:04

Horsey I wouldn't mind if (a) he wore them all and (b) I had space for my clothes in my third of the wardrobe/chest of drawers we share. When I'm not pregnant and I have more clothes they're always creased because of all his stuff. I swear he has shirts and t-shirts I've never seen him wear! It's not like it's a marriage breaker or anything, I'm just going to ask him nicely to review his wardrobe!

Glad to hear Thereis is doing well.

Stunt mine is the same!!! It's horrific!!

Have had an awful visit to the midwife.

Actually, the midwife was lovely and all fine thankfully. Still teary and snuffly from the sodding wanker who parked me in at the doctors surgery. Second time it has happened. Idiot next to me park so badly that I couldn't fit my bump into my car to leave. Had to waddle up and down the car park to both doctors surgeries and to the chemist to find the owner of the car. Needless to say they were no where to be found. After one hour of walking about, my pelvic bone started thumping and I sat in the passenger seat crying like a baby. DP rescued me. Am finally home, 2 hours later. Sounds trivial now but I cried like it was the end of the world.
