I can't wait to meet this baby, figuratively obviously! Literally speaking I'm happy to hang in a bit longer. DS2 is 6 so babies are all a bit of a blur at the moment, hopefully it will all come back to me. At least my mum is a health visitor so I can always ask her for tips! My neighbours on the school run walk (or dog drag in my case) can't wait either, apparently it's the hot topic in the street gossip. All those mothers are getting broody again.

DS1 is being a complete PITA though, is it too late to have them adopted at 9yo? Grin It's only a matter of time before he ends up going to school in his pyjamas at this rate.

I emailed a breeder about a yellow lab puppy today. Can't believe I may be getting an Andrex puppy next year. I wanted a German Shorthaired Pointer but DH said he's not keen so it will probably be a lab instead. I hope the puppy will liven up my old dog a bit, at the moment walks always turns into drags. But she's getting her orthotic (leg brace) refurbished next week so hopefully that will put a bit of spring in her step once it's all repadded with new straps and tread.

Just been arranging our family holiday next year, just provisionally. Camping in Yorkshire with GPs and assorted extended family, so lots of help with kids hopefully. Last two weeks of July. Must be mad.

MissMummy1 · 22/09/2012 11:43

Horsey I've threatened to move out in the heat of the moment and height of my hormonal meltdowns as well. Until I realise I don't really have anywhere else to go and I don't actually want to leave. It makes him pay attention for a while anyway.

Stunt I will be very jealous if you get a puppy. We were meant to get one this summer but my bodyclock decided it would rather have a baby instead. Depending on whether I go back to work or go back to uni next year we might consider getting a dog then. We both grew up with dogs and I'd love for our child to do the same. My dad got a new puppy over summer and I got all dog-broody Blush.

Valium we're debating spending a week in July at centre parcs with my parents and 3 teenage siblings (if they've not murdered the eldest one before then!) DH isn't keen - "it's like butlins for the middle classes, why can't we go diving abroad" - but he's never been and doesn't realise that it's about as far as my mum will travel if we want any help with baby care etc. We're also going over to Northern Ireland in January/February to see his family and, if he gets his way, a 'holiday' on the west coast over easter so he can do some diving.

horseylady · 22/09/2012 11:46

I love retrievers!!! I've got two curlies - bloody mental ESP the pup though she's ok now she's been walked!! Big one much more chilled now!!!

Yes two years pay protection - but they had to be interviewed etc. Was horrid. Hoping were not next as I'm a band lower than I should be already!!! It's beautiful here today!! Yesterday was horrific!!

applepieinthesky · 22/09/2012 11:57

Beautiful day here as well but DP has gone back to bed and left me on my own because he got up at some ridiculous hour this morning.

I feel like crap again today. I've got an upset stomach and headache to go with my chesty cough and blocked nose. Im supposed to be back at work on monday but if I still feel like this then I won't be in. They'll have to get used to me not being there soon anyway. They can't make me take mat leave early unless it's a pregnancy related illness can they?

I know lots of people who haven't been keen on the idea of Center Parcs but once they've been they enjoy it and usually end up going back. We are thinking of going again next year, probably after Ibiza. Not sure we can afford it until I go back to work. Boo!

Iheartpasties · 22/09/2012 11:59

Argh for all of you with job and pay stresses, such a massive bummer.

My dh is half thinking about quitting his job in Jan and becoming a sort of freelancer/contractor. I am happy for him to do whatever makes him happy as long as there are benefits, he will end up working much further away so I hope that is counter-balanced with more leave or something. Anyway we'll see.

We got the precious baby name book out this morning, we both looked through and I tried to get a discussion going but dh wouldnt bite!! There are a few names I'm liking but not too sure about them when they are shortened. Humph. So tricky!!

horseylady · 22/09/2012 12:02

I love centre parcs!!! It's brilliant!! We all went for my 30th and had s wonderful time!! Hoping to book a break again one lo is here!!

Apple hope you feel better soon!! I seem to be expanding daily!!!! Seriously - I can only eat soup yet the belly keeps growing and the baby seems more and more cramped!! Is it half a pound a week they our on now?

DesperateHousewife21 · 22/09/2012 12:23

kirrin maybe he knows someone down this way? It wouldn't surprise me it's a crap town! I really want to move but we can't afford to yet.

applepieinthesky · 22/09/2012 12:55

DP has just been to the shop and bought my whole body weight in fruit! Bananas, strawberries, raspberries, lemons, oranges. Oh and dark chocolate to help my iron levels Wink

daisychain76 · 22/09/2012 14:06

That sounds good apple. Shelly l reckon you live about 10 mins from me! cacacaz l trained nrly 6 years ago. l found the stuff l learnt about eye contact/bonding excellent. Thedetective l really like Karen (who delivered my Ds). She is straightforward and makes time for you. Have had a lovely, maternal sort of mw today called Janet. Bit of trauma cos dr came last night to tell me there were issues with my bloods so l needed a scan at 8 this morning then would have a c section if any issues with baby. ln the meantime couldn?t eat/drink from midnight. Waited til 11.30am today to get scan with consultant, with registrar basically implting c section more than likely. Then told scan great, baby doing really well, so no c section for me today. Of course l am so pleased the baby is doing really well, but mentally it feels a bit like torture atm!

YellowWellies · 22/09/2012 16:16

My sis has just suggested a Center Parcs break in the Lake District one in April / May... I'm definitely up for it. DH is a bit 'wah we need to sort out house, move, find somewhere to rent, potentially put stuff in storage, and have a baby between now and then'. So he's doing a bunny in headlights panic. I'm going to work on him.... If we break the tasks into little bits it's much less scary - I do feel bad though as I'm being so lazy he's got a lot of pressure on him as he's doing everything. So have sent him fishing this afternoon as he needs to chill out.

Center Parcs is great for teenies and whilst I'm sure DH would rather do a diving holiday too (or a fishing holiday, not a chance) - it's not just about us anymore and Center Parcs is designed around families it's so easy to relax even with little kids. I went last year with cousins and three little uns under 2 - it was lovely! Plus you can socialise with pals in your cabin and get take out delivered and not have to stress about babysitting / someone staying in (they even have baby sitters). Also there is the spa.... Grin I have to say I wouldn't say it's middle class anymore - there were definitely some families there who were bordering on the Shameless stereotype!!! It seems to attract all sorts.

YellowWellies · 22/09/2012 16:18

Jeez daisy that would have me in bits!!! How stressful to be told to prepare for a CS and then 'nope not today'. Good luck and keep strong. Awesome news that the wee one is thriving though and not needing hoicking out!

MissMummy1 · 22/09/2012 16:33

I did centreparcs last year for a friend's hen weekend and loved it. DH is more hunter-gatherer, let's pitch the landrover and roof tent in the middle of the woods and make our own entertainment. Not very baby proof. He doesn't like places where there are likely to be lots of people and he has to conform to some sort of social normality. The swimming pool for example would be his idea of sheer hell. He hates the idea of spending a week with my family. I love them to bits, they're just not his sort of people. As you say though, we'll have a plus one so he can't be selfish about it. (Plus I'm sure he won't complain about a few meals/drinks out while my mum baby sits and if all else fails we can hire him a kayak and leave him on the water all day - DH that is, not the baby!!)

Daisy I am the biggest control freak and hate not knowing things so I'd be going out of my mind if I were you. FC you get some consistent answers soon xx

Hope all those feeling ill are on the mend soon. I have a serious case of can't-be-arsedness today. Had a friend round for lunch so had a mad cleaning spree this morning, now have no motivation to sort dinner, do admin, put washing away.... I could sleep for a week Sad

YellowWellies · 22/09/2012 16:57

I'm chilling out in a lovely messy house - hurrah for no more house viewings! Also managed finally to do some washing (didn't want DH's pants drying around the house for viewings!).

I'm currently wetting myself (thanks Tena lady) reading the poo thread. Fecking hilarious

applepieinthesky · 22/09/2012 17:01

At least baby is doing well daisy even if it's been a stressful time for you.

We had said that this would be our last visit to Center Parcs as its our third time and we like to go to different places. However, it's a brilliant place for little ones and once we're parents it's not just about what we want anymore so I'm sure we'll be back. Plus the Elvedon one in Suffolk is only 45 minutes from where we live so it's nice to not have to travel too far.

ShellyBobbs · 22/09/2012 17:07

Daisy, I'm just up in Newton and drop my eldest off at Hyde High, so have to pass there everyday. My youngest goes to gymnastics in Hattersley which backs onto where it happened and was there Wednesday night, they had to park at Tesco's and walk all the way round to the gymnastics centre on John Kennedy Road.

I also went to Hattersley comp and spent my early teen years roaming the streets of Hattersley and Mottram usually with a bottle of 20/20 and a few Embassy no 6, wouldn't mind but Hyde is only a small town really and all the shit that's happened here. Blimey!

Pasties I'm going to try for a transfer at work first, if not then I've already checked out my options on the job front and they are good, although the pay is shit but I'm not a money person so not really bothered about that, I'm also trying to build up an internet business so hopefully that will subsidise a bit. Hubby is a welder amongst other 'man' things, so don't know really what we are going to do. We got married in Cornwall and both absolutely love the place, just to convince the eldest.......

Going for a meal tonight with 20 or so of the family, really can't be arsed and it's a curry yuck. Haven't fully got my appetite back so can see me spending £15 on a bloody popadom tonight lol Grin, that's if I don't fall asleep in my food. I will be taking my Gaviscon with me for definite.

As for hormones, it seems that mine have finally found me. I've not really suffered with them but am quite teary at the moment about the most stupid things. My youngest was reading me some school work she did earlier this year about the Great fire of London, and in it she said that all the children's parents rescued their children by riding into town on cows, the cows then took them to long wooden boats and they sailed off and were saved! She is so cute still and I just sat there with tears pouring down my face when she read it at her pure innocence :)

ShellyBobbs · 22/09/2012 17:40

OMG! Thanks for posting that link up thread, I'm am crying and howling with laughter, it's just so funny Grin x

daisychain76 · 22/09/2012 17:45

Shelly l know Newton well ~ went to the 6th form there. Also love Hyde Park ~ the cafe there is fab.

ShellyBobbs · 22/09/2012 17:47

I was there last week getting my locks sheared :) I'm always in that cafe eating lol.

Titsalinabumsquash · 22/09/2012 17:49

Gah the BBQ we ordered yonks ago arrived today, she's a beaut. However DP insisted we build and use it today, yet I find myself sitting here cooking burgers while he's gone off to play nerf with the kids Hmm
In true British weather it was glorious sun until I chucked the meat on, now it gloomy and grey.

Elizadoesdolittle · 22/09/2012 17:58

daisy my goodness, what a rollercoaster you're on! Hope you are resting up now.

yw I'm just getting ready to put the house on the market. It's being valued on Wednesday. I can see me having viewings whilst knee deep in baby poo, or breast feeding, not to mention all the mess and washing. You've done things the right way round. Must be a lovely feeling, congratulations.

Well today I've very nearly sorted out the nursery. After much nagging I managed to get DH to get all the baby stuff out of the loft. I can't believe how many clothes there were. I thought id gone through most of it but there was so much more. And there is tons of unisex lasting for the first 3 months and also a lot to keep us going for 3-6 months. So I really don't need to buy any more whether I have a girl or boy. Although if I do have a boy I will buy some outfits as it will be a novelty....and I'll probably also get some bits if it's a girl as I don't want her to totally wear hand me downs so a bit irrelevant really. But it's nice to know I don't need anything else immediately. Just got to wash it all now!!

DesperateHousewife21 · 22/09/2012 18:26

Eeek! my mum bought me the gingerbread blanket from mamas and papas today! She's the best!

MissMummy1 · 22/09/2012 18:33

DH21 is that the stripey one??? This one? DH bought me it the first time we went baby shopping together and I absolutely LOVE it! It is soooo soft!! I can see it being very well used by our baby Grin

kissyfur · 22/09/2012 18:45

Hope you're ok daisy good news that baby is still happy in there Smile

Great news on your house YW

I've got the gingerbread blanket too, it's the theme we've got in DD's room. It's lovely

I had a nice couple of hours to myself this afternoon when DP took DD swimming. I walked into town and got a couple of maternity tops in H&M, one of them I'd had my eye on for a while, got there today and it was half price, bargain! Also got DD a 'big sister' top for when LO arrives Smile

kissyfur · 22/09/2012 18:47

Oh and thanks for posting the link pasties I had a good laugh at that thread. I read a few more that were on that 'all time favourites' thread last night, very very funny Grin
