Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Stacks · 13/09/2012 11:15

I'm 27 weeks now, so in 13 weeks I'll be 40+1 (by my dates). So I guess it's about 13 weeks for me too.

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 13/09/2012 11:21

I'm 26 weeks and on bed rest today Sad

Sobbing sofa for me. I had a bleed this morning and as I've been in a lot of pain in bottom of back and bump this week the midwife wants me to rest. If I'm still bleeding this afternoon I'm probably going to have to go in to be checked over. Looked online and tadpole is prob weighing around 1 and 2/3 lbs Sad far too small to be coming out just yet!

SpottyTeacakes · 13/09/2012 11:28

Sorry to hear that stacey I'm sure it'll be fine just your body telling you to slow down Smile if you're worried in the mean time then you can call labour ward

HoneyMum21 · 13/09/2012 11:35

Aww stacey hugs and relaxing soothing noises. Take care

WeeJo08 · 13/09/2012 11:42

Hope you and tadpole are okay, Stacey - try and take it easy & hopefully it will subside.

Another one for the sobbing sofa here - just finding it so painful in bed and it makes it hard to sleep. Woke up to pee las night and was so sore when I got back into bed & just could not get back to sleep. Tried to stretch a bit and then knocked over my water glass - cue lots of tears and "I just want to sleeeeep" wailing from me. Poor DH - he was very good though.

Less than 13 weeks for me too - was 27 weeks on Monday past - eeeeek! When does third trimester officially start?

Stacks · 13/09/2012 11:55

Stacey hope everything is well. Just rest and take care of yourself. I'm sure everything will be fine. If worst case happened, remember they're very good at keeping babies in these days, even if your waters break and labour starts.

I'm also in pain a lot at night. I wake up every time I turn over, in more and more pain each time. I'm lucky that I'm still managing to get an ok number of hours sleep through the night though, even if it is all disturbed. Are you using any kind of support pillows WeeJo?

Also, 3rd trimester apparently officially starts "at the end of your 27th week", which I guess means at 28 weeks. Not sure why they don't just say that.

Secondsop · 13/09/2012 11:55

stacey hope you feel better soon. If it's any consolation i've had a couple of little bleeds, probably caused by my low-lying placenta, and the baby's been fine throughout.

weejo have you tried different arrangements of pillows all around you in bed? I've ordered one of those big curved pillows but before it arrives I'm managing on my side with a soft feather pillow to support my bump, a pillow between my knees and a memory foam pillow behind my back. Getting to bed is a bit of a performance but I am finding it helps.

My baby centre email said that the third trimester starts at the beginning of week 28 (so 1 more week for me!) but I've read differing views so I don't think it's an exact science.

WeeJo08 · 13/09/2012 12:12

Stacks & Seconds I have a big long Mothercare pillow that I got a few weeks ago but I'm not sure if it actually makes things worse :( I almost don't want to admit that! I am definitely getting sleep, but it's not the type of sleep I'm used to (I'm usually a reeeeally good sleeper) or as much as I'm used to so I feel tired, and all I want to do is go to bed and lie down but that is when I hurt the most. Basically I feel like a big whinge-monster!!

Anyway, things could be a lot worse. I am focusing on my birthday & holiday next week - they are nice things to think about :) Does anone want to see the dress I bought for my birthday dinner? (You know I'm going to show you it anyway :))

It looks like a really dark navy in the photo but it's actually a lovely royal blue in real life. Might even be adventurous and wear heels!

EggsMichelle · 13/09/2012 12:23

Stacey get plenty of rest, it's your body telling you to slow down and make OH do everything for you!

I can taste banana through everything, and it is rancid! I'm not a fussy person, but that makes me heave!!!

28wks today, whoopi!

WeeJo08 · 13/09/2012 12:31

Yay Eggs! I am looking forward to the 28 week mark (I'm next Monday)

Meant to ask - did anyone else get their free Bounty "Mum-to-be" pack from Superdrug? I picked it up yesterday and it's a bit pants to be honest! I think I was probably expecting too much from freebies though!!

CODwidow · 13/09/2012 13:12

Hope your ok stacey just do as they say and rest, I'm sure everything will be ok.

I'm 27 weeks now too so scary thinking how it's only 13 weeks and the last 13weeks have flown by. My first 3 were all born at 37 weeks so maybe even less!

SpottyTeacakes · 13/09/2012 13:22

Dd was born at 36 weeks. If I don't get stupidly ill again I'm torn between waiting as long as I can (which risks my placenta shrivelling and putting baby at risk) or just demanding induction at 37 weeks (which risks longer stay in SCBU). Hmm I know it's not entirely my decision and my body will probably decide before consultant and I get a chance but I would like to have a plan!

Stacks · 13/09/2012 13:40

WeeJo what's in the Bounty pack? I've not got any freebies yet... Also, a friend lent me a dream genii pillow, but I find a normal feather pillow better to sleep with. I scrunch it up in the middle to make it a bow shape, then lay so one side is under my bump, the other at my back. Much easier to sleep with than the big elephant trunk thing, as I can turn over without getting tangled up.

A pillow between your legs, from knees to ankle is also supposed to help (specifically not between your thighs like the dream genii does). I find it just falls out when I'm asleep though, and also makes turning over too much hassle.

So, if you have a feather pillow, maybe throw the mothercare one on the floor for a night and give it a go. It definitely helps me to be able to turn over easier; means I don't stay in one position for too long, making the pain worse.

minipie · 13/09/2012 14:19

I got my bounty pack at my booking in appointment. It's a bit rubbish IMO - in terms of actual stuff, there is a newborn pampers nappy (one) and a tiny tub of sudocrem. There are also various vouchers, however none are spectacular discounts (more like 50p off here and there) and most of mine seem to expire in October which is rubbish for a December due date! TBH I think the discounts in the "baby events" that most of the supermarkets run are better. They send a lot of junk mail too... which at the moment I don't mind as I like reading preg and baby related stuff but will be a bit of a pain if I'm still getting it in 5 years time...

itsMYNutella · 13/09/2012 14:25

Hello all!

Loving the NCT antenatal group stories! Ha ha ha ha to the woman who prefers pregnant vaginas... honestly, she should probably spend more time outside less time looking at fanjos

I'm in the same boat as you Weejo I'm missing my deep cosy sleeps and keep waking up, lying in bed awake with a sore back. Going to dig out some spare pillows later and try out Seconds instructions. And that dress looks lovely!
We have a wedding this weekend and I have gone for the rouched(sp)/gathered black dress and purple belt I posted on here a few weeks ago. Just need to figure out tights/leggings and maybe buy some shoes :)

I have had some decent freebies... have collected them all in a bag and not actually used any of them yet Confused

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 13/09/2012 15:57

Thanks ladies well I had to get kids frOm school but I'm back in bed now (they're really quite self sufficient if allowed the telly on Wink)

Just feel shit but not in pain so that's a good sign. And no bleeding since this morning. So fx tadpoles doing ok (if the kicks are anything to go by we're alright). think this is made worse by the fact DH is going away to India next Friday for a week and a half Sad

God I need to cheer the hell up!

HoneyMum21 · 13/09/2012 16:45

Eeek. We just went and paid and arranged delivery on our pram and furniture for bump (the ICandy ordered in June has finally arrived at the warehouse). Don't think I've ever spent that much money all at once... Gulp. But everything is being delivered next week. So excited.

knottyhair · 13/09/2012 17:00

Stacey, hope you feel better soon, sounds scary, hope you get some rest. Honey, how exciting!

kate2boysandabump · 13/09/2012 17:12

I've been too busy and/or tired to post but I have been keeping up.

Stacey STAY IN BED!!!! Is there anyone who could take your 2 to school in the morning? It's lucky your 2 are self sufficient, mine are too, currently playing on the wii. Sorry you're feeling Sad

second It sounds like your GP is doing a great job for you.

The NCT stories are brill, your 'teacher' is right though Friend, it is a different colour, although I wouldn't have felt the need to compare it to an item of clothing I owned. It's not like I'd be trying to get them to match Wink Maybe she was Shock

I didn't do NCT, just the NHS ones, so I don't know if they are any good. Looking forward to hearing more stories though Smile

I saw the midwife on Wednesday and baby is doing fine and I'm measuring just right for dates. She also referred me for physio, as although my joints are not too bad now, she doesn't want me to wait until it is. So I have an appointment for 2nd October, which I thought was quite quick, especially compared to ds2, but she apologised for the long wait Shock

Have had an awful blood test, it was fine when she did it, then it hurt more and more through the day, so I got a nurse friend to look at it and she said the technician had gone through the vein and lots of blood had pooled under the skin. My poor arm is very colourful at the moment.

Barbeasty · 13/09/2012 18:38

kate ouch!

stacey can you make the most of it before he goes? Make him do everything so you're well rested.

honey how exciting.

After all that fuss I got home to a phone message saying that our pushchair bits are in and ready to collect. That was 1 week, not 3 months!

I don't want to collect it yet though, because the warranty will rub from when we do.

utopian99 · 13/09/2012 18:40

Kate2 poor you, blood test sounds grim. I remember going to give blood once and they nicked the vein on the way out and i ended up dripping blood on the floor, saying 'excuse me, I'm sure it's not supposed to do this?' Hmm

On a blood note, is anyone thinking of autologuous blood transfusion - or rather, the collecting just in case? Know there are (admittedly very small) risks from a third party transfusion.. It was in one of the leaflets the MW gave me, which is the only reason i ask..

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 13/09/2012 18:47

I'm sure I could get someone to do the school run but I've not had any bleeding this afternoon so fx we're doing ok! Bloody scary though!

PrunellaDeVille · 13/09/2012 18:55

all the talk of blood tests going awry is making me feel queasy. Hope the arm improves soon kate

stacey definitely stay in bed now then while you can so that all worries are clear by the time your DH heads off

anyone considering the having the flu vaccine? is it really necessary? has anyone's MW or Dr even mentioned it?

SpottyTeacakes · 13/09/2012 18:58

I have the flu jab every year and will do the same this year. Never had any ill effects from it. Never had flu.

Stacey I'm glad the bleeding has stopped, maybe try get the school run covered tomorrow then it's the weekend?

Envy at everyone's prams arriving, mine's still out of stock on the website.

Heartburn killing me again even though I glugged Gaviscon only an hour ago Sad

NaomiRuth · 13/09/2012 19:02

Stacey hope you feel better soon, take it easy.

Also very sore sleeping, dream genie helps but still very achey.

We went to John Lewis and decided to get an iCandy cherry, but we're going to look out for a secondhand one on EBay. Am scouring the listings daily! Very exciting about people with theirs arriving.

We're in the new house now, but it's been an exhausting week unpacking, sorting things and going to work. We can at least start buying nursery things now, although it needs repainting. DH doesn't understand why I want to paint it a neutral colour - it's blue and we're having a girl. I don't want pink but just neutral.

Hope everyone has a good night's sleep tonight.
