HoneyMum21 · 27/09/2012 18:44

Thanks Spotty - will try and calm down about it until the OCD cleaning the day before

Flumpy2012 · 27/09/2012 19:02

Oh I'd totally forgotten about HV.

Are they really critical? I have dog and and the dining room remains closed (heaving with baby things)

Cleaning may also have taken a back seat to resting currently but being on my own what can I do?!

Oh I will cry if one more person criticises me!!

kate2boysandabump · 27/09/2012 19:05

Flumpy I am far from the perfect mom!!! I enjoy crafty stuff so making costumes is usually something I love, but I'm so tired at the moment it had felt like a bit of an uphill struggle, all done now though and 2 happy boys here.

Ds1 is 9 and ds2 7 and the new baby will be, you guessed it, another boy!!! Even ds2 thought that our family's chances of having a girl were about 80%! He put a lot of thought into it Grin However, my children think I would have made the perfect wife to Henry VIII!

Emily forget to say earlier Envy of your bump. I saw my mom today and she said 'OH, you've blossomed. Where did that come from all of a sudden?' I saw her 4 days ago Hmm

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 27/09/2012 19:16

Honey im sure they wont be judging you.

And flumpy you may not ever have a visit until after baby arrived, I've never had one before until the dcs are home!

Flumpy2012 · 27/09/2012 19:26

Well Kate you sound amazing to me! Ah 3 boys!! They sound lovely. I can barely find the energy to do every day things for myself let alone make Roald Dahl costumes so hats off to you!!

Oh phew although I'm likely to be in a bigger pickle after she's born!!

I'm also in the 'swallowed a baby hippo' club so envious of any small and near bumps!! x

Mummycox · 27/09/2012 20:29

Welcome newbies!

Hope all goes well pidj

flump sending you positive vibe

What is the red book?

Also, What does spd feel like? Like heaviness when you stand up and walk?

SpottyTeacakes · 27/09/2012 20:37

I think it's more like burning and grinding mummycox

The red book is the book which all your baby's records go in up until 5. Like their growth charts, immunisations, check ups etc

kate2boysandabump · 27/09/2012 20:38

SPD is more like the joints grinding. They separate slightly due to hormones and it feels as if they are looser than they should be, so it causes pain, particularly if you move your pelvis in a different direction to the rest of you, say rolling over in bed or getting out of the car.

The red book is to record your baby's health details in, so growth charts and vaccination records and also records of developmental checks. I was given mine in hospital with my other 2. Did you get yours before that Spotty?

For anyone who's looking to get a head start on Christmas shopping, Argos are doing a 3 for 2 on all toys until Tuesday, but it's only in store, but you can reserve and then collect. I'm picking up Lego tomorrow because we don't have enough Grin

SpottyTeacakes · 27/09/2012 20:40

I really can't remember kate tbh it's all mouldy now anyway Blush and the pages are stuck together!

pmgkt · 27/09/2012 20:47

flumpy a hv may be a good person to see for you rather tha a dreaded experience. I have only had time to scan of the earlier posts but they will be a source of support with baby, which is hard enough on your own, but she will also point you in the right direction with any financial and emotional support you may need. please dont take it that i think you cant or wont cope but feel free to ask them for any help. i know they get a bad press, i didnt have much time for mine, partly cos i never saw the same one twice, but a friend who's husband walked out at 6 weeks old, loved hers. she would come around for extra little visits to check all was well with her as well as baby, and kept in contact for a whole year. you may not want this sort of help and that is fine but dont write it off beforehand.

Mummycox · 27/09/2012 21:02

Thank you - so much to learn.

Want to get comfy, can't. Feel thoroughly swollen and like I'm going to burst. 9.5 weeks to go...

kate2boysandabump · 27/09/2012 21:05

Spotty One of mine's mouldy too, an unfortunate apple juice in the baby bag Blush

Flumpy HV's can be good. Ds1 broke his leg when ds2 was 3 weeks old. I struggled to get to the weighing clinic that week, she took one look at me and the ds's and asked what on earth I was doing there. She came and weighed ds2 at my house for 8 weeks after that and she did has newborn hearing check at my mom's because I'd been at the hospital with ds1 and that's where ds2 was. She was amazing and I was really well supported by her. If you ask for help, she may be able to pouint you in the right direction.

Barbeasty · 27/09/2012 21:28

Spotty I can go even better. MIL knocked a pint of beer off a pub table and into my open change bag, sticking the red book together with beer. I don't take it to the doctor any more...

I'm amazed people ses their health visitors before the birth. I saw mine only after the midwife discharged us, a few.weeks after the birth.

They didn't check anything about the house. And we still don't have gates on the stairs or locks on most cupboards. And no corners protected. DD is very proficient at fetching things from upstairs and the fridge.

Flumpy2012 · 27/09/2012 21:37

Oh I feel a bit better about it now. It will be a great support - so long as I don't get someone too judgemental Smile
I won't write them off!

All I want to do is sleep but if it's not discomfort its pain or heartburn and weird dreams! Ahhh

EP came round earlier to bring me new home phones so I can have one upstairs and one down. He walked dog and then mentioned he's going to cinema with EW!!!! On sat. Sad trying not to read into it. I'll never understand men so long as I live.

Now I want to eat the chocolates I bought for a friends bday - is that immoral??? xx

utopian99 · 27/09/2012 22:03

Further communication at last re my employer, which I still won't go into details of (in case they're lurking, paranoia really has set in now!), but looks like I'm going to have a long fight on my hands... arghgh - why do employers see you as fair game for abuse when pregnant?

If they try to dismiss me now, given I'm well beyond the 15-week SMP cut off, they will be legally obliged to pay me anyway, but given what I know of them they may try not to - what would I need to do then to force the issue? Yet another legal fight; I should have trained as a lawyer!

Flumpy2012 · 27/09/2012 22:07

Utopian - contact Acas (acas.org.uk) or your employment union if you have one. They should be able to give you accurate advice for free and help you. Sorry you're having a rough time. Hugs x

utopian99 · 27/09/2012 22:35

Thanks flumpy, have done already, when they started this. Everyone agrees they're on shaky ground but I'll still need to fight and not going to be bullied into submission. NOT what I or the crumb need right now though!

utopian99 · 27/09/2012 22:37

on the plus side, getting lots of painting done and planning on making apple pie this weekend Grin

Flumpy2012 · 27/09/2012 22:52

Stress in pregnancy just gives you more ammunition!

Apple pie - yum!! I miss feeling well enough to bake. I love the thought that in a few years I'll be able to put a pinny on my daughter and be able to lick the mixing bowls with her Smile

Counting the days! x

PurplePidjin · 27/09/2012 23:17

Honey, mine is 9/10 and I'm already wondering what cake to bake Blush

I made dal with lamb and naan for dinner, big success although we'll be eating up dough for weeks - I've saved some in the fridge for pizza tomorrow and the rest is frozen for next time! Must do flapjacks over the weekend, they're good for dp to take to work as he cycles and doesn't always want breakfast before he leaves.

Where will everyone be putting their crib/moses basket in the bedroom? We're going for the end of the bed so whoever stirs first can grab baby, but maybe it'd be better my side so i can just reach for him? We're going to have a single in the baby's room right from the off for dp to crash in if he needs peace/one of us to keep LO company later if he's ill/Small Nephew to come and stay (respite as Small Niece is severely autistic, he comes in the school holidays to give dsil a break and so he can get spoilt rotten by his doting uncle and aunt!)

Need to accept quote and book fitters for my new carpets this weekend

Clarella · 27/09/2012 23:18

Utopian, I have a friend who is an employment lawyer in london who knows about all that sort of stuff. She's currently on extended mat leave. I know you don't want to say anything here but if you did want vague sketchy qs passed on via a pm I could ask her. Though union should be ok to sort you out, mine was. Not conducive to pregnancy at all, sounds like you're doing very well and keeping positive, bash it out in pastry xx

utopian99 · 27/09/2012 23:37

hehe, like the idea pastry as stress relief! Yes, clarella if I can pass some Qs via you, that might be helpful, if your friend doesn't mind?

pidj as Crumb is having a hammock, the stand fits nicely in the bay window by DHs side of the bed, which so far he hasn't objected to! Shock will mean I have further to dash round the bed when it's my turn though... we have a futon in the nursery for peace/when he moves in there too.

Bellaboo123 · 28/09/2012 04:00

Hi,
Have been lurking for a week or so. Sorry to hear that some of you are having a rough time and hope things sort themselves out.

Can't bloody sleep but need to get up in an hour as we're of on hols so can't really complain!

Just been reading about this whooping cough vaccinations we should have...are you all going for it? Any reservations?apparently in the US it's common practise to have...

EggsMichelle · 28/09/2012 06:21

CRAMP!!!!!! I have been woken 5 time just tonight with it in my left leg, it's driving me mad! Bella has the midwife offered that? I assumed my vaccinations as a child would be sufficient.

The Moses basket is going down DH side of the bed, away from the window, but I will probably swap sides with him. We have a futon in the nursery but there won't be enough space to pull it out once the cot is in there Hmm

SpottyTeacakes · 28/09/2012 06:45

I didn't have my whooping cough jab when I was little so will ask on Wednesday.

Moses basket will go next to in our room.

utopian do you have legal cover with your house insurance? I used mine to take an ex employer to court and didn't cost me anything.
