Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Mummycox · 19/09/2012 15:25

29 week appointment (missed 28 week) was fine, measuring 29 weeks and heartbeat all normal.

Got anti d next week too pidj gulp

working from home this afternoon (and conveniently having washing machine fixed)

Please excuse my ignorance what is a mei tai?

PurplePidjin · 19/09/2012 15:50

A type of sling for carrying babies :)

FriendofDorothy · 19/09/2012 16:05

GTT results all fine Smile

EggsMichelle · 19/09/2012 16:08

Bella mine is a Mary Berry recipe, not tried it yet though but finger crossed its edible! Pidj you sling is brilliant, it's spurred me on to make mine, I have loads of old men's jeans I have held onto to make stuff with, this good be a good use of the material! And glad to here the heart beat is better, he must be fixing his own heart!

Seen the midwife, apparently green discharge without itching is not something I should be ignoring (oops) so have to monitor it (very gross). On the plus side my GTT is clear, I can carry on eating my tasty treats!

PurplePidjin · 19/09/2012 16:17

Make sure you're really confident in the strength of the fabric, Michelle, especially if you reuse seams :)

Hurrah at all the clear tests :o

MyDaydream · 19/09/2012 16:22

ISpy that really sucks about the car, stuff like that always comes at the wrong time, but safety for your baby is more important. Baby won't really care about anything but cuddles and milk for a while.
I think baby sleeps like my DP does. If he's having a nap I end up with a bum really pushed into my side so there's just a hard lump sticking out. DP sleeps with his bum pushed really far out too so I can't wait to see DP and DS taking a nap together when he's a bit older. Can anyone tell me what hiccups feel like, I've been getting little ripples every couple of seconds that lasts for about a minute or so, do you think that could be it?

MyDaydream · 19/09/2012 16:26

Friend and eggs (and anyone else who's had one) did you get your GTT results on the day or did you have to wait? I'm between GPs surgeries and worried I'm not going to get to see a MW until at least 31 weeks now since my old midwife has told me antenatal at the hospital should deal with my until my new MW will, but I don't think antenatal will since every reasonable request I've presented them with so far has been met with huffing and being treated like I'm a massive inconvenience.

FriendofDorothy · 19/09/2012 16:53

I had my first blood test at 9am, the second one at 11am and the results at about 4ish.

SpottyTeacakes · 19/09/2012 17:00

Good news on all the test results Smile I'm doing sausage and bean casserole for dinner yummy

Clarella · 19/09/2012 17:04

More good news here, slapped cheek results were a mess up at the lab, which I would have been able to tell on Friday if id remembered the difference between IgG and IgM antibodies as definately clear of any recent infection, for some reason they couldn't work out if I was immune or not - but I'm definately not so no need to retest :) not sure why doc put me down for a retest as he should have been able to work that out too.

Plus cleared up some questions over thyroid stuff plus they were happy to let me decide about dropping meds again so I opted for a semi drop so its not such a dip, but she said I didn't have to. She was extremely lovely actually and even offered another scan, although not strictly necessary she thought it was helpful. I initially said I feel a bit greedy and don't want to be (any more of a) drain on nhs resources, plus it might worry me more (!) but she basically said sod that and booked me on Friday. Apparently they do do extra late scans in some nhs trusts for Hypothyroidism but it's not strictly necessary. (it is for other thyroid types plus if id had a particular thyroid antibody, which I didn't :) )

How cute mydaydream (baby bum sticking out!) Hiccups feel like a little regular pulse at first, quite close together, I thought it was my own pulse I could feel a few weeks ago until I read about it. This morning they were stronger and less pulse like, more like proper hiccups.

Loving the mei tai pidg and all the mei tai plans!

minipie · 19/09/2012 17:17

Yay, glad you got an extra scan Clarella. I wouldn't feel bad about being a drain on resources, they wouldn't offer it if they thought it was truly pointless and in many countries they do later scans as standard anyway.

Yay for GTT results too. MyDaydream I got a call with my results the day after the test.

Boo to car costs ISpy. Hopefully it means next year's service will be cheaper... ?

Re anti D - I had anti D last week, it didn't hurt, I did feel it a bit going in (it's not a pin prick and the dose is quite large) but it wasn't painful exactly, just noticeable. And no pain afterwards.

utopian99 · 19/09/2012 17:28

I feel your pain ispy, our car keeps requiring extra work, and i keep thinking that's the last of it. DH is on the warpath for a new second hand car with proper rear doors and boot space, so it may have to go.. I shall miss it, glitches and all!

On another note, I've got through 10 litres of trade white emulsion in three days, am covered in blisters, and have at least another 10-20litres to go. [weeps silently...] making a difference though!

Cookiesandcream06 · 19/09/2012 17:58

Yey pidj that's great news. And you really are a sewing pro! Great news on midwives and GTTs everyone too. All good here as well, GT all good, iron levels are same as at booking too which I wasn't expecting (as I gave up taking Pregnacare at about 13 weeks and have had issues previous pregnancy!) Measuring 30 weeks (now 28) but MW wasn't bothered, everyone else seems to be measuring spot on though??

Cookiesandcream06 · 19/09/2012 18:00

O and to whoever asked the hospital told me they would phone the following day if there were any issues with results..
And pidj had my Anti D today and it does still as it goes in but isn't that bad and doesn't hurt after. And I'm a bit of a baby about these things!

Stacks · 19/09/2012 18:00

Eggs hmm, I've had some greenish discharge too. Did she say what she thought it was? I've got my MW appointment tomorrow, so was going to mention it to her then, but any info I can get would be useful.

Honey I seem to remember we're due at the same time? I've also not had many kicks from bump recently. Everything feels more like jabbing elbows and knees in to maneuver around, if that makes any sense? He moves all the time, but just not in the same way he used to. I did have a strange dream the other night that he was having a temper-tantrum in my stomach, and the midwife sent me for a scan when I showed her my very mobile bump bouncing around! I think he must have been moving lots while I was sleeping, which is reassuring in a way, even if it did lead to strange dreams (my bump became see-through, so I could see him kicking up a fuss and crying in there. I then had to hold him, but on my tummy as he was still attached by the cord...)

EggsMichelle · 19/09/2012 19:20

Stacks she said green discharge could be merconium, and if I had more and a vivid green i needed to call to hospital ASAP. So wearing panty liners to monitor the situation.

HoneyMum21 · 19/09/2012 19:27

Thanks stacks - i checked with the midwife today and she said as long as we're getting at least 10 distinct movements of any sort over the course of the day then that's fine. DH did say just before the alarms went yesterday morning when i was still sleeping he put his hand on bump and was getting lots of wriggles and kicks :)

Talking of weird dreams i had one last night where a barman stole my Garbage band hoody (currently one of my favourite things as it goes over everything!) - i've spent all day really annoyed with dream-barman!

Glad other mw appts went well and great news on the various test results :) yay for seeing LO an extra time Clarella

The sling i mentioned yesterday is here

We went to mothercare and matalan today (they're both out at the same retail park) and got towels and flannels and stuff for bump and then some cheap newborn sleepsuits :)

HoneyMum21 · 19/09/2012 19:37

Also, i ordered a cheap holdall off ebay (nothing special-£6) as i didn't have anything suitable for a hospital bag. I'm now worrying the bag is too big - how big is everyone else's bag?!!

Bellaboo123 · 19/09/2012 19:45

honey I wouldnt worry it's too big I've tried to pack an overnight size holdall and I can't get half the things needed in there...thinking towel, dressing gown and tracksuit to come home in are all chunky items!!! I think I need a bigger bag!!!

SpottyTeacakes · 19/09/2012 20:01

I was told first time to take a labour bag, so a small bag with your labour essentials in, then have your bigger 'overnight' bag in the car for your dh/p to bring in once you've moved to the ward/had the baby with your bigger things in.

That said I just had one if those small bags but I was on labour ward for quite a whole after I had dd Confused over a day! Not usual practice though. I think they like to keep the rooms clutter free.

StrawberrytallCAKE · 19/09/2012 20:05

honey garbage as in 'only happy when it rains' garbage?

I got a really cheap suitcase from primark last time (along with lots of cheap big knickers) and am going to re-use it and get some more knickers from primark too...their bigger nighties were really useful in hospital fyi :) I did go through a phase when I wanted to be dressed in a long Victorian nightie to give birth to dd, mental pregnancy hormones. I was very glad I got over that one as the pictures may have been quite odd.

Secondsop · 19/09/2012 20:07

I was going to take a little bag with the labour / overnight essentials, and then use a bigger bag with things for a few days that my husband can bring in from the car.

SpottyTeacakes · 19/09/2012 20:09

You said that in a less complicated way than me seconds Grin

HoneyMum21 · 19/09/2012 20:20

Yes Strawberry that Garbage! We saw them in July and DH bought me my hoody :)

I'm having a C-Section so know i'm going to be in for a couple of days so i'm guessing i'll pack everything!

SpottyTeacakes · 19/09/2012 20:22

Yeah I would Honey as you'll leave your bag in your room whilst you have the CS so will just need the baby outfit
