I went to Ikea last night to have officially started my Christmas shopping! Got dd a children's table and chairs (been looking for one for ages) for £17, a load of kilner jars and a few other bits and bobs. Very excited.

AND I just bought some boots from Dorothy Perkins, 20% off today and I had a £20 gift card Grin

FriendofDorothy · 19/09/2012 07:53

GTT testing this morning. I am bloody starving!

Clarella · 19/09/2012 08:10

Morning! Limited sleep again but feel ok so far... best thing is bump v active, I'd been a bit worried as I'd felt so little for 2 days. I think it must be how they lie honey, small wriggles is all I felt . Sometimes DH feels a kick that I don't.

Hope you feel better soon jojo and honey. Anyone thinking about flu jab this year as its been a ridiculous year for lots of viruses etc?

Hope all ok utopian and you're not too stressed Thanks

Thanks for the active birth book recommendations, another close friend described the classes the woman runs in more detail, she's an ex primary school teacher now dance/active birth/yoga/nct teacher and the classes sound like music and movement. (Good but can get from books) I'm feeling confident enough in my yoga now to work out some routines at home mixed in with some Capoeira stuff which is mostly squatting to off key tuneless songs in Brazilian about sailors and fish. Again, note 'work out' rather than 'do'! maybe writing it here will force me to fulfil my intentions! But I reckon those books will help, get good reviews on Amazon. Tbh a bit of squatting/horse pose is probably a good idea to strengthen legs? Have also decided to hire a tens from boots. (yup, being 30 weeks is making me panic focus a little more!)

Gritting teeth for both consultant and several builders today, mammoth cooking session too as Mil and Fil coming to stay for 5 nights to help us paint/strip lots of stuff.

Clarella · 19/09/2012 08:13

Not gritting teeth at m/fil though, they're lovely.

knottyhair · 19/09/2012 08:15

Good luck to all those with GTTs and MW appts today. Jojo, that sounds horrible, hope you feel better today and manage to eat something.

Stretch marks wise, I was another one who thought I'd got away with it with DS, nothing all the way through pregnancy (Mum was the same so I felt very smug & sure) then about 3 arrived after I gave birth. Nothing so far this time but only 26 wks so relatively early days.

I too am having trouble getting my socks & shoes on Blush.

StrawberrytallCAKE · 19/09/2012 08:32

I have stretch marks, my dsis and mum didn't get any so I must have got the bad stretchy genes from my Dad's side! Mine are mostly silver now from last time but I'm sure in a few weeks I'll have some more to join them!

Ooh spotty are you pickling?

utopian I'm not sure of the name as it's on my itunes now and is just called 'birthing hypnotherapy' it was in a white case with pink writing on. I definitely found it helped me, I was really in the zone when giving birth and felt really calm, hopefully it'll be exactly the same this time! I had gas and air and pethidine and they both helped although my last lot of pethidine was given about 20 mins before she came out (they didn't realise how quickly I was dilating) she was fine but I was a bit out of it.

SpottyTeacakes · 19/09/2012 08:37

I'm doing:

Spiced apple chutney
Chilli jam
Jumbleberry jam
Body scrub
Layered brownie mix

GrinGrin

HoneyMum21 · 19/09/2012 08:41

Oooh Spotty jumbleberry jam sounds interesting. (I'm a sucker for a good name for something- there's a shop near me that does traffic jam which is layered strawberry, apricot and gooseberry!) I wish I was a domestic goddess. I am considering making Christmas cakes to take to relatives this year but doubt I'll get round to it!

SpottyTeacakes · 19/09/2012 08:44

I am far from a domestic goddess! Luckily my friend is a great cook and we are doing it together!

StrawberrytallCAKE · 19/09/2012 08:55

That all sounds lovely!!!!

If you need a Christmas cake recommendation Nigella's christmas cake with prunes and chocolate is beautiful, you can't taste the prunes (but the side effects to them may be useful to us around Christmas time). I bloody love Christmas recipes.

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 19/09/2012 08:57

Had to get up early to take DH to work this morning :( I am not feeling it tbh, I'm knackered and it's not even 9am yet!!

I had an awful nights sleep to was just sooo uncomfy and so thirsty (which obv led to 7-8 bathroom trips during the 6hrs I slept)

Had a stranger touch my bump today Angry well I kinda know who she is (nutter mother of a child in ds's class) but I don't even know her name. Apparantly it's ok to touch a random woman's stomach and ask when it's due and what number baby it is Hmm the look on my face made her stop pretty sharp ish tbh!

HoneyMum21 · 19/09/2012 09:00

Ooh stacey I would probably have belted her the mood I'm in at the moment. DH told his mum on no account to try to touch the bump and that was the first thing she did when she arrived anyway- she's lucky I was too shocked to take a swing! (I'm not usually a violent person...!)

PurplePidjin · 19/09/2012 09:03

I've only had friends touch mine, and kind of an extension of a normal hug - a brief pat/stroke to say hi to the baby seems ok to me. Some total random poking and prodding would endanger lives Angry I'm not surprised you wanted to thump her, Stacey!

SpottyTeacakes · 19/09/2012 09:16

My step mum touched my bump and mil. I hate it. But I hate all touchy feely things I'm just one of those people Grin

Hope all tests etc go well today.

I have to go and get petrol (20 minutes is the closest one and can't go on the way to work tomorrow because there isn't one Angry)

minipie · 19/09/2012 09:22

I think I'm unusual but I don't really mind people touching my bump, even if they are people I don't know well... I agree it's rude though if they don't ask first but I still don't really care. I was fascinated by bumps before I was pg and so I can understand the urge!

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 19/09/2012 09:26

Mini I normally don't mind even dcs teachers have had a feel but I think lack of sleep swayed my judgement and the fact that I have never had the bump touched by a stranger before! It did make me slightly stabby!

Does anyone fancy sorting my mountain of clean washing out? I really cba!

HoneyMum21 · 19/09/2012 09:37

The concept of being 'slightly stabby' just made me laugh and choke on my tea!

PurplePidjin · 19/09/2012 09:42

Pic of mei tai now on profile

WeeJo08 · 19/09/2012 09:43

Morning! 28 week MW appointment today - think I get bloods taken, can't remember what for though. We fly home today - we're there until Saturday then fly off to Spain for a week. Fingers crossed no probs at the airport with my Fit to Fly letter! I have also printed off all the info from their website plus the response we got from their Customer Service telling us that they DON'T require a certificate - want to cover all bases!!

Re: bump touching, I'm not a massive fan either...saw on another thread someone has a t-shirt saying, "If you're not the man who put it in there, or the person who's going to take it out, don't f**king touch it!" Which I found very funny but perhaps not suitable for all occasions!!

Spotty What is the brownie layer mix? And how do you make your chilli jam?

Good luck to everyone with appointments today.

Clarella · 19/09/2012 09:46

Gah! Cross with DH for forgetting to lock back door and social skill-less electrican wandered in as I was waddling naked to bathroom - luckily didn't see me but gave me a fright. He's the one who ripped up the ancient carpet and underlay in the study/ store room polluting covering pram, computers and work in ancient gritty dust. He's supposed to have turned up the last 5 days giving fore warning on the phone but apparently had lost my number. Today is the day I've gotta cook a zillion things (plus I'm out of practice) and he's in the kitchen grrr. Well he will have to put up with woman's hour at full blast, lets hope they discuss hormones, nesting and some gore about prolapses or something. I'm going to put an out of order sign on the loo upstairs too, the down stairs one is fine and I don't want anyone up stairs anymore!

Cookiesandcream06 · 19/09/2012 09:46

Family and close friends are more than welcome to have a feel (as I do like to touch other bumps ) .. Strangers NO! Angry

SpottyTeacakes · 19/09/2012 09:47

brownie mix

chilli jam

Just how casual can one go to the evening do of a wedding? We've got one on Friday and, tbh, I just want to wear a stretchy cotton top/dress with leggings a boots Confused I hate dressing up when I'me not pregnant and I really don't want to be feeling all uncomfortable in a maxi dress!

SpottyTeacakes · 19/09/2012 09:50

and boots*

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 19/09/2012 09:57

Sounds good to me spotty! I think dressing up rules differ when you're pregnant anyway Wink

Honey sorry for making you choke! It's a great expression I've picked up from mn! Grin

Good luck for all appointments today!

Clarella · 19/09/2012 10:00

I feel distinctly stabby. Shame I've got to chop a lot if veg in the same vicinity as stabby instigator.
