Ice lollies- I must get some!

Just spotted a fab maternity winter coat in H&M in grey or black that looks very warm and only £35! I am going shopping on Thursday to Walton-on-Thames where there's a big store so will have a look!

ICompletelyKnowAboutGuineaPigs · 18/09/2012 20:07

I would love a home birth Frying, getting to labour at home with all your things around you and then, just think, you get to sleep in your OWN bed and there won't be anybody else's screaming babies to keep you awake (this happened with both my DCs). Unfortunately there's not a chance of this happening on the NHS, but I. was speaking to a lovely independent midwife the other day and I think they would do. I need to have a think.

Btw I think all you beetroot eaters are just wrong! Think I'll stick to my strawberries and cream Wink.

fryingpantoface · 18/09/2012 21:33

Ooh that sounds good tired! I'll check it out

Beetroot is wonderful! I gave some to ds who ate his at the same time as his cookies. Odd boy.

Why wouldn't it work on the nhs guinea, if you don't mind me asking. The midwives here are really keen

tiredteddy · 18/09/2012 21:59

I do admire those of you contemplating home births. The midwife said I'd be a prime candidate considering its dc3 and I managed the previous two with just has and air. However I'm not keen and not sure why. Think I just get that urge to go somewhere safe and that's hospital for me.

ICompletelyKnowAboutGuineaPigs · 19/09/2012 18:46

Frying I had a 3rd (or 4th - conflicting notes!) degree tear with DS and an elective section due to complications with the pregnancy with DD so I've been told if I want a vbac I will require continual monitoring. There is obviously still time for negotiation but not I'll be able to bargain them down to home birth!

WingDefence · 19/09/2012 20:46

Tired I'm also vaguely thinking of looking into a home birth but I was more tha happy to be in hospital for DS because I liked knowing there were people around to help afterwards if I needed them.

It was such a quick birth and no complications etc last time (2nd or 3rd deg tear I think but cant remember which) that the MW has already said I'm a prime candidate for a home birth this time round. I really don't know if I could handle the mess though :(

At the moment I'm just counting down the days till I am supposedly 12 weeks which is now going to be Saturday. Told our lovely neighbours/ church friends who we are very close to (same couple) and who we do a lot for and with. I couldn't stand lying to her any more about why I wasn't playing netball as the season has just started! (My team won 43-18 tonight hurrah.) She said she did wonder as when she popped over last week to ask why I wasn't playing I made up some awful excuse on the spot and it must have been obvious that I was lying!

DH is away with work tonight so I really must get an early night as I've not been sleeping well recently. Nothing on tv though I'm ignoring the footy so I've just got Classic fm on and surfing the Internet.

Hope you're all relaxing... Brew

WingDefence · 19/09/2012 20:48

That wasn't very clear - when I said same couple I mean the neighbours and the church friends are the same people. In fact, their friendship is one of the reasons we chose this village and church to come to when we moved up here.

Right, must think about going to bed soon :)

tiredteddy · 19/09/2012 21:06

wing yes tv rubbish tonight! I'm reduced to grand designs, hopefully it will make me nod off.

tiredteddy · 19/09/2012 21:07

Oh and neighbours and friends sound lovely. How nice to have them close and share the news. Scan on Friday?

WingDefence · 19/09/2012 21:18

Hiya - no scan is next Monday 12:30...

Right, I really must go to bed and not waste the opportunity of a restful night in bed on my own! Grin

WingDefence · 20/09/2012 07:33

Morning - I feel hungover and I've not been drinking :( Wolen up with a headache and slight sick feeling. I wouldn't mind if I'd necked half a bottle of red last night (oh those were the days Grin ) but of course I haven't even had a sniff!

Talking of which, it's weird but when I was pg with DS I did drink at least once a week, either a glass of wine or a beer, but this time round I've just not been that bothered. Although that might change the later it gets as I always worry in the development stage of this first trimester.

Oops this was meant to be a v short post. Better get breakfast for me and DS!

ICompletelyKnowAboutGuineaPigs · 20/09/2012 14:41

Hello all,

I ended up at the out of hours dentist last night. I managed to get the last appointment of the day at 10pm! When they rang me to offer the appointment I was in bed with my PJs on so had to leap up and get out of the house in superfast time - wish I could channel that speed whilst getting out of bed everyday! Anyway, I have an infection associated with my wisdom tooth so have been given antibiotics for the next 5 days. I was a bit panicky about taking antibiotics but he said they are safe in pregnancy and I checked on Google! and I've been in so much pain I started taking them last night. Hope fully they will take effect soon. Because I haven't been sleeping well I have treated myself to a day in bed.

How are you feeling Wing? Hope the headache has eased. Ooo btw did you get your Pampered Chef goodies yet?! Mine arrived yesterday, happy days Smile.

I have totally avoided alcohol but will probably have a small glass of wine when I'm well in to the second trimester. With DS I didn't find out I was pregnant until I was 12 weeks and was drinking an inordinate amount (courtesy of the fact that I was dating his dad who was a bar/nightclub manager at the time). Makes me shudder to think how much alcohol I had when he was being made and I do wonder if this has anything to do with his (potential) Asperger's or ADD? I didn't touch a drop after I found out but still...what's done is done.

Hope you're all having a lovely day. Back to bed with a jacket potato and a quick episode of something on the computer via Lovefilm for me.

fryingpantoface · 20/09/2012 15:13

Hi!

Right now I?m at work, which means i have a proper keyboard to message off and not just my phone!

Guinea, I?m so pleased you?ve managed to get an appointment ? hope you feel better! Also ? Ouch. That can be for either the tears/pain or both! (have realised I use a lot of !. I?m not this excitable and enthusiastic outside of MN, so I guess this could be a throwback of learning to type whilst using chat rooms when I was 12)

I have ordered the grey coat from H&M. I wasn?t going to copy tired but I?m shamelessly unoriginal. Also, it was a steal! (there goes the ! again... sigh)

Not much is happening here. I?m 9 weeks tomorrow and I woke up this morning with a definite belly. I?ve always had a belly, but this is more rounded. This means that at 6.30 this morning I had a melt down because i have no work pants which fit. I?ve gone to work with a bobble in my pants. So glam.

This weekend i?m going to a wedding, well on Sunday. My husband?s boss is getting married to his long term girlfriend. Should be interesting. We?re going to the night do and i?m wrecked by 7 so i don?t really feel up to it. I had originally told DH that I wasn?t gonna go and to tell his boss. Found out 2 days ago he didn?t tell him because he hoped I would just go. Idiot. By then, it?s too late to pull out so i?ll just go. I?m sure it will be lovely, but I?m not my best when i?m tired. Wish me luck!

What else is people up to this weekend?

fryingpantoface · 20/09/2012 15:14

Also, as an aside, I've totally gotten into Dr Who and Torchwood again. Thank you Love Film and netflix!

ICompletelyKnowAboutGuineaPigs · 20/09/2012 16:53

Ahh Frying I am familiar with the lack of clothing meltdowns.I almost took DS to school in grey tracksuit bottoms this morning, but then I looked in the mirror and couldn't justify it! (I also use a lot of !s)

We are going to a thing on Saturday for a joint 40th celebration and an 8 month 'thanksgiving/welcoming' day for their son. Should be fun and at least I've got the antibiotics excuse as a reason why I'm not drinking. That being said, so many people know as I made the mistake of telling a couple of friends but was overheard and now lots of people seem to know. Oh well, I'll be telling them eventually.

I'm tempted to try Netflix but am currently addicted to Mistresses on Lovefilm instant!

If anyone comes across any casual maternity trousers that are not skinny jeans then please let me know. Do retailers not know anything about pregnant women - my bottom grows bigger almost instantaeously in preparation for its use as a counterweight! The last thing I want to do is draw attention to it in bright pink skinny jeans (thanks Gap all the same). I just want a nice pair of comfortable, casual trousers that don't make me look huge. Too much to ask for? Anyway...rant over. Think I may also partake in the buying of the H&M coat (because at that price it would be rude not to).

WingDefence · 20/09/2012 18:31

Hi all. Well my headache got worse and worse and I got no work done this morning (tons to do argh) so after a jacket potato and cheese for lunch, I popped two paracetamol and went to bed for over two hours!

The joys of working from home Wink I did wake up in that time but my head was no better and in these situations I know only sleep will do it to allow my brain/head to fully relax. Felt almost human at 4pm so have made two massive cottage pies even though DS had a hot meal for lunch so only had a sandwich for tea and DH isn't due home till 10-ish. And I'm starving so I'll probably end up eating the smaller one all to myself once DS is in bed Grin

Is the H&M coat the puffer jacket? Only have black left in my size I blame you lot for buying them! but it does look nice. Last time I had a bright pink swing coat from Primark - it wasn't a maternity coat but it fit. I wonder where it went... Hmm

This weekend we also have a 40th birthday to go to! It'll be easy not to drink though. And do you remember my neighbour who I found out was also expecting at my booking in appt? She'll be there and I wonder if she'll be telling people. I wanted to be able to say "I am too!" but I'll wait until after the Nuchal.

WingDefence · 20/09/2012 18:33

Oh and Guinea I am so with you on the skinny jeans. I don't wear them normally as I'm very pair shaped and my legs/thighs are not very shapely (well unless you count fat and lumpy as shapely!).

I've got my eye on a few pairs of non-skinny on eBay.

fryingpantoface · 20/09/2012 18:43

I didn't get the puffa jacket because I look stupid in them. I got the double breasted grey military coat.

WingDefence · 20/09/2012 19:20
tiredteddy · 20/09/2012 19:25

Quick post!
Went to big H&M tried on black wool double breasted coat with tie waist. Lovely and warm but too black for me, I'm blonde and pale and looked washed out. I want the grey puffa and they didn't have it so I'm off to order it!

somethingwittynot · 20/09/2012 19:36

Hey been a very busy few days went to the gp on Monday who sent me on the hospital no has risen 128/90 hospital reffered me to a nuero who's referred me to an eye dr ASAP well as ASAP as he nhs go Grin basically my left eye is blurry and they keep going crossed and I can't uncross them if that makes sense? Ontop of that I've got the mother fucker of all headaches. Had my 17 weeks appt today mesuring 14cm but i don't trust thAt. Heard the heartbeat 150-155 and sounds like a train.

My SIL had her 31 week scan yesterday and the estimate weight is 4lbs :o

tiredteddy · 20/09/2012 20:04

Oh something that's sounds like you have been poorly. What will they do about your eyes? Hope it gets sorted soon. Have you heard that thing about the heartrates? Some say that boys heartrates are greater than 140 and girls are lower. My notes say 140 exactly so no conformation to be found.

somethingwittynot · 20/09/2012 22:44

I've got I ring and chase my eye appointment as it's been to long accordin to my midwife bless her! Just got myself a cotbed and a box of newborn pampers of the giving stuff away thread x

somethingwittynot · 20/09/2012 22:47

Oh yeah on the heart rate thing my DS was 132-164

WingDefence · 21/09/2012 10:15

Blimey Something, you poor thing :( Hope they sort you out soon!

I've never been on the giving stuff away thread. I'll have to have a look - getting a cotbed is great. We're going to get my old 4' 6" single bed for DS now that they have moved up here (new mattress ob) and then use his cotbed that is currently a bed back into a cot for MiniWing :)

I was just wasting time on the internet when I should be working reading some of Lovely Gynneth's website Goop and came across this very posh page with lots of extremely expensive things for mums to be. Have a look and dream what it must be like to have shedloads of money!!

Right I am now going to shut down the internet and GOWI*. Bye for now...
