Poor you - mine was fine! A quick jab and not even a little circle plaster to see me on my way Hmm

I may feel it in my arm later though... The nurse mentioned the whopping cough jab but I've still got 8 weeks to worry about that. Did you have both in the same place - perhaps that's why it hurts so much?

WingDefence · 13/11/2012 16:59

Oh hang on - you said both your arms. Dur! Grin And of course now I'm thinking about the jab, my arm is starting to throb :(

tiredteddy · 13/11/2012 17:02

Yes one in each arm, she did it really quickly and they both just feel bruised and achey. Didn't bleed though. Glad yours is ok-ish?!

WingDefence · 13/11/2012 17:19

I can't even tell where she did it! I'm going to ignore it and see if I notice any aching later :)

ICompletelyKnowAboutGuineaPigs · 13/11/2012 19:11

I feel for you both - mainly because for me it was much worse in the evning and the morning after - fingers crossed you both escape!

I'm feeling ok most of the time Tired. I mainly notice 'symptoms' when I overdo it which is all the time so when I eat too much or do too much activity (though if someone could tell me please how to take it easy with 2DCs I'd be eternally grateful Grin ). That being said I feel absolutely shattered tonight. Annoyingly though as soon as the kids are tucked up in bed I get a surge of energy, weird huh?! Hmm then I feel awake at my normal bedtime but exhausted in the morning when it's getting up time. Think my body clock is a bit wobbly at the moment.

DH is going out tonight so I'm going to finish bedtimes and get in my PJs and watch Casualty. DH HATES Casualty so I can't watch it when he's in the house - if he's gone a really long time I might even catch up on a couple of Holby Citys!

Ooo new Greys Anatomy tomorrow night, anyone watch it?

Hope you've all had a good day and have nice relaxing evenings planned. Enjoy your booking in appt tomorrow Pineapple.

Pineapple80 · 13/11/2012 19:32

Thank you guinea! Enjoy watching Casualty tonight Smile

tiredteddy · 13/11/2012 19:34

Hi guinea I know what you mean about trying to relax with two dc at home! And I'm also with you on holby city DH home late and Hates it so I'll be curling up on the sofa to watch that! Never got into frets anatomy bet I'd love it.

CuriosityCola · 13/11/2012 19:37

I have already watched the first couple of grey's. Make sure you have your tissues and comfort food ready! I was a crying wreck.

ICompletelyKnowAboutGuineaPigs · 13/11/2012 20:06

Oh no Curiosity have I already missed some? Shock That would be a disaster.

CuriosityCola · 13/11/2012 20:29

No, my sister acquired them for me. I'm a little bit in love with each and very one of the male characters. Grin

ICompletelyKnowAboutGuineaPigs · 13/11/2012 21:11

Grin at Cola (me too btw!)

Dysgu · 13/11/2012 21:44

Hi All, Just checking in - I seem to have turned into something of a lurker but things are so busy right now that I have to limit my MN time or else hours can slip by and I fall even further behind with my work!

I do have a bag of books that are in desperate need of marking and I will get them done before the kids get them back, but I am thinking I can swap subjects around (joy of primary school) and not need them until Thursday...

Does anyone know anything about Slapped Cheek? (Parvovirus something?) I have a child in my class with it - so was sent home in a great hurry from work last week and not allowed back until I had spoken to my GP to ask for advice. Potentially dangerous for the bump. Was a bit hectic - but after GP visit it was nice to have almost a full day off (I ended up falling asleep on the sofa!)

Anyway, long story short, child has been moved out of my class (temporarily) as Slapped Cheek is now moving through his siblings so GP says 'best to be sure' and I have had blood test to check for immunity - results due tomorrow. All this led to me telling the entire year group about pregnancy as word was spreading that the child had something that could kill me!

WingDefence · 13/11/2012 21:53

Dysgu so glad you're okay - I've been thinking about you but didn't want to hassle you by PM again Grin

I've heard of slapped cheek from when DS was younger but didn't know it was a problem for pregnant ladies. Thought DS may have chicken pox last week but I don't think he does (random spots that look like pre-blistering pox spots though so v odd).

Pineapple good luck for tomorrow :) I am counting down the hours days till my 20-week scan on Friday morning!

Guinea have you told your DCs about bump? (I can't remember if you have.) if not, perhaps soon would be good and then you can tell them that you can't run around after them etc?

Arm slightly sore but otherwise feel fine. Off to bed soon. Night all you lovely ladies!

WingDefence · 14/11/2012 08:39

Morning all - arm felt (but doesn't look) bruised all night so I couldn't sleep on it, which was a bit difficult when I'm trying to make sure I sleep on my left side as we're meant to!

I had very odd dreams about my parents signing up to be scientologists as well. Confused

Persuasion · 14/11/2012 12:11

Like dysgu I've also become a bit of a lurker. Am keeping up with you all but haven't managed to post. Had some spotting over the weekend (I think brought on by a long day at work) so went to epu for a scan on monday which showed a heartbeat! And no sign of bleeding around the sac. Baby measured 6+2, and I think I'm 7 weeks today but may be a little out as we really were jsing!

Pineapple80 · 14/11/2012 14:15

Hi All!

wing & tired - hope your flu-jabbed arms are ok today!

Booking in appointment went fine today. Told them we are leaving for Oz in 3 weeks time and this means (as expected) 12 week dating scan & nuchal screening cannot be done. I asked if they can fit me in for a dating scan in the next few weeks and they are looking into it. I don't think they will be able to...It would be great if they could, but if not I've already booked a private scan for a couple of weeks time anyway. The nuchal screening I would prefer to be done when it's meant to at approx 12 weeks and I have already organised that in Oz. Lots of organise but things are falling into place. I got bloods done today and the usual filling out of the booklet etc.

Persuasion - very glad to hear there's a heartbeat and things look ok!

wing - and only a couple of days now till your scan. Bet you can't wait :)

Dysgu · 14/11/2012 20:17

wing - thanks for the kind thoughts! Things are getting better on the anxiety front (I am renowned for being a very chilled person so it is odd to worry!) and we have now heard the heartbeat several times as I have so many extra appointments and heartbeat was easy to hear quite early on!

I also have a leaflet from the MW about the flu jab but have not even managed to take it out of my bag to read yet!

What does anyone know about telling employers officially - it seems such a long time ago but is it something like anything up to 15 weeks before the EDD? I won't be seeing my MW again until I am 24+5 and (potentially) the baby could arrive with 6 weeks from that point! My employers have known since very early on but don't I need to give them a copy of the MATB1 certificate to make it official? Am I correct in the 25 weeks - I should have asked when I saw MW on Monday but forgot...

WingDefence · 14/11/2012 20:31

Hmm, yes I think it is something like that (15wks before EDD).

Have you looked on direct.gov? That is such a useful website. I'll have a look...

WingDefence · 14/11/2012 20:34

They've changed the website! I miss the old one cos I am sad like that but anyway, in the section on maternity rights, this is the page for claiming

Hope that helps x

WingDefence · 14/11/2012 20:38

Persuasion, lurking is fine :) Just glad everything's okay. So happy to hear you had a good early scan - I forget that some of you aren't as far gone as me and forget how early you are Blush

Pineapple does your booking in appt carry forward to Oz then? Hope they can squeeze the dating scan in. You should demand it Grin

(And I should learn to post everything I want to say in one bloomin go!)

Dysgu · 14/11/2012 23:43

Thanks wing - yes, it is 15 weeks before EDD and, working on the changed date of 20.04.13 (DP's birthday) - that I was given at last scan - that would put me due to tell work officially over the Christmas holiday.

I am not due to see MW until the end of the first day back at work after the holiday - hmm, do I need to contact MW. Imagine work will stick to rules - can they do anything if I am a few days late? Can I ask MW to put original EDD on MATB1 certificate - which is what work has asked for - so that I am not late telling them?

Dates mean nothing anyway with my past experience of having babies!

Dysgu · 14/11/2012 23:44

Does it have to be a MW at my GP clinic - where I see one of the 3 attached to the surgery - to give me the MATB1 certificate or could one of the MWs at the hospital do it? I am there 3 times between now and seeing MW at GP clinic again/

WingDefence · 15/11/2012 07:42

It says that you should get your MAT B1 after 21 weeks but like you I'll not have another MW appt until 28 weeks.

With this sort of thing I wouldn't be late giving work your MAT B1 or relying on the MW putting the later (original) EDD as they might not be happy with putting the wrong date down.

Call the MW and find out if you'll get it automatically in the post or if you can pop in and pick it up after 21 weeks. If I were you I'd tell them by the Christmas holidays. You can always tell HR confidentially before Xmas and then email them the official dates etc during the Xmas holidays (but before the 15 week before EDD date)?

Hope that makes sense. I'm on my phone so can't go back and review what I've written!

WingDefence · 15/11/2012 20:41

It's all gone quiet on here Shock

Anomaly scan 9am tomorrow. I'm going from being excited Grin to nervous Confused I've even been googling '20 week scan gender boy/girl' in case they get huffy about telling us!

But really though I'm just obviously praying that everything is fine and that MiniWing will be lovely and healthy and no problems.

To take my mind off things, I'm watching Masterchef the Professionals which I didn't know had already started last week! I am STARVING now!!!

CuriosityCola · 15/11/2012 21:14

Good luck for your scan wing.

I will be posting more frequently when I am less whiney about feeling sick Grin
