Hi viroids, I am cautiously hopefully hopping on board here with a BFP this morning.

Some progress on my end, I got my booking appointment locked in for mid Nov when I will be 8 weeks. The lady doing my bookings on the phone was lovely and helpful. I face a bit of a dilemma though because DH and I are actually relocating back to Oz in Dec when I will be 11 wks and a week away from my first scan. I explain this to the bookings lady and she explained they can't scan me earlier because the Nuchal Translucency screening scan (which will also be the dating scan) cannot be done prior to 12 weeks for test accuracy reasons and also die to hospital policy. The day we leave The UK I'll be approx 11+1. She suggested a private scan for peace of mind before flying out and then organising the NT scan as soon as I get back to Oz before 14 wks which is meant to be the latest to get it done.

All so much to take in and a little stressful too, I have to admit Sad. I asked the bookings lady if an early dating scan is possible at least but she said not very likely unless I have issues. I understand the reasons for the dates for the NT scan though, I'd rather it be as accurate as possible. Anyway we are willing to book a private early scan at 11wks before we fly out. I just hope I can sort out a NT scan back home in Oz in time...

Im sure things will work out in some way or another. Would anyone have any advice u could offer me at all? Smile

Hope you're all having a good Monday. Wishing you all a good week ahead!

tiredteddy · 29/10/2012 14:17

Hi pineapple that dies sound like a lot to organise. I would definitely go for a private scan for peace of mind in your position. Is there any way you can contact the oz nhs? To arrange the NT scan from here ready for when you arrive? Do they have private scans there? Maybe that could be an option as private companies may be more willing to boom ahead if you see what I mean not getting caught up in the paperwork of a health service/ registering with docs as soon as you arrive?

Pineapple80 · 29/10/2012 14:47

tiredteddy - thanks for your reply. I think that is a good idea and I will look into booking ahead for a scan. I do know all private scans will need a GP referral so I will def book to see the GP the day after we arrive. Then I can explain the situation & urgency of it...

WingDefence · 29/10/2012 15:22

Can you get a GP referral from a UK GP?!

Where are you relocating to? Are you and DH Aussies then?

Meeting finished half an hour ago. Got a teleconference in 5 mins then rushing to get the train home.

I am intending to do no the minimum of work on thr train because I'm darn knackered. I forgot my book though [hsad]

tiredteddy · 29/10/2012 15:23

wing that means you'll have to snooze instead...

WingDefence · 29/10/2012 17:24

I would be snoozing right now apart from the fact that all trains are currently cancelled at Euston. I could honestly cry I'm that tired and fed up.

The thing that worries metre than anything else right now isn't that I won't get home - I called my boss and he said work would pay for a hotel room if necessary - it's the utterly horrific rush there will be when the lines eventually reopen and the trains are announced [hsad]

I can see I may have to scream I AM PREGNANT to people of I can't get a seat. Gosh this is horrible.

WingDefence · 29/10/2012 18:10

I am on a train!! About 10 mins after I posted the above, there was an annoucement that they were going to start trying to run some Virgin trains out so I left the cushty 1st class lounge as it's far away from the platforms and by a complete miracle my train line was the first to come up and it was the platform next to where I was standing. I legged it (need the exercise...) and was the first onto the train, got an available seat and we left at 5:50.

I actually cried a bit with relief when I sat down. I honestly am so relieved as I was trying to plan where to stay, worrying about everything.

MiniWing is enjoying all the excitement and has been kicking for the past half hour!

Right I may do a tiny bit of work then I'm going to close my eyes....

Pineapple80 · 29/10/2012 18:10

Argh wing that is awful. I hope you get home safely tonight. Nothing worse than transport delays and rush hour in London grrr...

P.S from earlier post- yes we're Aussies! Grin

tiredteddy · 29/10/2012 18:50

Glad you are in the train now wing

I took delivery of a baby blanket I ordered for this baby today. It's an olive and moss one, very cute. We have no blankets left as ds2 took to the baby blankets that we have and they became his comforter. He has a total of 5 jersey baby blankets called atit in baby talk and sleeps with them all. He even keeps one at the bottom of his school bag in term time!

livismum · 29/10/2012 18:50

pineapple could you ring ahead to GP to get the ball rolling before u get over there?

Glad u are on your way home now wing

We are back from a nice family mini break at Haven, crammed a lot in and have got home to remember I'm out of washing powder (oops!)

Pineapple80 · 29/10/2012 20:11

livismum - I think I will ring ahead. Have been doing lots of research today and may be possible to book private NT scan and then just make sure I get GP referral upon arrival. My concern is getting the scan locked in and if I can do it as early as possible, the better. Thanks for advice Smile

tiredteddy · 30/10/2012 09:48

It's ds2 birthday party tomorrow! It's joint with a little friend. So much to get organised. The other mum is coming round tonight to make cupcakes. need to buy sone essentials I forgot today like bread for sandwiches!

Pineapple80 · 30/10/2012 09:59

Oh how exciting teddy! Hope all goes well and everyone has fun Grin

WingDefence · 30/10/2012 12:09

Ooh lots of organisation then tired! How old will DS2 be? (I'm rubbish at remembering all these things [hblush]) I'm planning on holding a make-your-own-pizza party for DS's 4th birthday!

That is very cute about the comforters [hsmile] Where did you order the new one from?

livismum is it bad of me to admit that I found your lack of washing powder a bit amusing?!

Pineapple I hope you do manage to get things sorted. I'm guessing though that relocating is such a massive job that it's just another job to be added to the list of things to organise? Where are you heading back to?

Hope everyone else is having a good day.

tiredteddy · 30/10/2012 13:02

wing he's already 5 it was his birthday on the 19th. We waited for halfterm as his party is shared with a friend from school who's birthday is just after. It will be at the local gymnastics place. the original comforter was a Zutano one, amazing designs but have to be shipped from America! The new one is from Beautiful Days Baby Boutique. There's not a wide range of products but the blanket was cheapest from there.

tiredteddy · 30/10/2012 13:02

Oh and fab idea about pizza party! Grin

WingDefence · 30/10/2012 14:35

I can't remember where I got the idea from. It might have been Pinterest but I'm not sure.

Basically, I'll either buy (or get my chef friend to make) individual pizza bases, then when the children arrive they'll have paper chefs hats that I'll make to decorate, then I'll put out lots of toppings eg tomato pizza sauce (of course), cheddar and red leicester grated cheese, ham, peppers, sliced black olives (not that DS likes those!) for them to make their own.

While the pizza are cooking we'll do an active party game or two eg musical bumps and musical statues, then eat the pizza, then pass the parcel, then I'm thinking of making big muffin-sized cupcakes and getting the children to decorate their own and they can take those and the hats away with them as their party gifts.

What do you think?!

WingDefence · 30/10/2012 14:37

Oh and tired I'll have a look at that website (I'm assuming it's a website?) for their blankets. I may get inspired and then pass any colour combinations onto my DMum!

livismum · 30/10/2012 14:53

Party sounds lovely wing

if my lack of washing powder made u laugh I should update you..................... Still without powder today (houseful of kids being my excuse, DD1's friend and 2 nephews) I decided that the material I need for Halloween costume needed freshening up so stuck it in machine with a very liberal squirt of washing up liquid, yep, turns out bad idea, at first a very bubbly cylinder, I thought ooh a nice clean for the machine, then bubbles coming up through sink plug, hmmmm, then bubbly water leaking out of top of machine (where powder/liquid goes!) towels needed to mop up (more washing i still can't do!) now sat here watching it spin! Grin

Can I blame DH for buying a tiny box of powder last week?!

CuriosityColaKilledTheCat · 30/10/2012 15:37

Wing, that sounds like a great party idea. If you google, Jamie Oliver has a really easy pizza base recipe that normally does 6-8 large pizzas. Could easily be used to make lots of little ones.

Grin @ bubbling washing machine. Dh once did that with the dishwasher. Our kitchen looked like a foam party!

WingDefence · 30/10/2012 15:45

Blimey livi that is very funny! Sounds like something from Outnumbered! The main questions is - did it get the clothes clean?! [hgrin]

Thanks Curiosity I will definitely do that. I've never made dough before but we're going to have it at the start of Jan so a couple of months to practise!
