Woman you must be really worried. I agree with MrsBri call your EPU if you have one. Here you call up and explain what the problem is and they usually offer you a scan. Wing is right, it doesn't always mean the end of everything. I was talking to someone the other day who said she had so much bleeding her GP booked her in for a D&C. They just scanned 'on the off-chance' and baby was there perfectly happy. Hoping that everything is positive for you.

Wing well done on the work. Please will you send me some of your discipline, I am so behind with my PhD but I'm lazy unproductive when working in the evenings. Maybe grapes and bananas is the way forward?

Welcome livismum and congrats on BFP! I actually admire your consideration to tell DH at a suitable time (and I hope he appreciates this!). With DD I did a test in the evening when DH was on a very rare night out with friends, fully expecting it to be a BFN. Obviously I was shocked when it wasn't! I told DH when he came home and he was so drunk - he got rather excited about it all, we JSd but all the movement got a bit much for him, he ended up running to the bathroom where he fell asleep on the bathroom floor. The next morning he said he'd had a 'strange dream' that I told him I was pregnant Grin

This time determined not to make the same mistake I blurted it out whilst frying some chicken in the kitchen the moment he came home from work and an hour long commute (his most hated thing). Needless to say neither time was very romantic!

WingDefence · 25/10/2012 17:53

Guinea they say your study, and hence work I think, patterns are set by early secondary school and I've always been a crammer. If I had had a dissertation to do at Uni I'd have been stuffed but luckily it was end of year exams all the way.

So with your PhD I can't really help apart from I find it does motivate me when I set deadlines with my bosses (or in your case, your supervisor) and then even if they are informal interim deadlines it gets me going and I'm usually only a day or two late

For these meetings thought obviously the meeting is a massive deadline. It's just that I'm meant to get the papers out a week in advance and this meeting is on Monday [hblush]

Woman a Maccy Ds sounds fab! I'm not even sure where my nearest one is... Preston probably so no way we could just pop out for one. Chilli and rice for us tonight :)

somethingwittynot · 25/10/2012 18:17

welcome back!! so pleased to see you here!

woman i really hope that this means nothing its just your little bean making mummy worry! i had a bleed at 14 weeks and were still going strong!

had mw today babies heartrate is 125-135 stomach muscles have split so explains my pointy belly button! haha

WingDefence · 25/10/2012 18:37

"stomach muscles have split"

Err, is that a good thing?! [hconfused]

AWomanCalledHorse · 25/10/2012 18:39

something, is that something you'll have to work on post-baby (getting tummy muscles back together). Sounds painful!

Wing, we have left over chilli & rice in the fridge! I love my home cooking but no one cooks a crappy burger like Ronald McD, getting a large big mac meal with a chocolate shake...maybe a mcflurry too. [hblush]

Guinea, wow! What a close call for that lady, glad she got scanned.
for your evening work!

I'm not too worried (knowing that nothing can be done if it's the beginning of the end), I'll give the MW a call again tomorrow and see if she suggests EPU (don't want to go in, see bean, then continue to miscarry it over the weekend).
Thank you all for positive thoughts & stories. x

ICompletelyKnowAboutGuineaPigs · 25/10/2012 18:41

Ooo Something see if you can start doing exercises to help with muscle separation. Because of my large pregnancy size my muscles separated with both DCs. But with DD it was so bad that I had to have major reconstructive surgery last year to get everything sorted.Im sure it won't be that bad for you but there are some really good exercises you can do to repair the separation even whilst youre still pg. This website is really good and in the UK www.tummytribe.com is good for exercise DVDs too.

Thanks Wing my supervisors and I actually came up with a schedule of deadlines for the next few months before maternity leave. I am also a crammer (and always been). I did my degree and my masters like this but it just worked then as an approach. It seems one can't write a PhD thesis on thus basis ... Who knew Confused !

CuriosityColaKilledTheCat · 25/10/2012 18:55

Just copying and pasting this from just Mumming as I'm shattered.

Well, despite confusion about appointments dates, I made it to my scan today. 6 weeks 2 days and an amazing heartbeat. Nausea has been pretty bad and I have a huge craving for junk food. Otherwise, dh and I are really happy Smile. Can't believe we are going to have a second baby.

Hope everyone else is doing well. Will have a read and update properly soon Smile

Pineapple80 · 25/10/2012 19:10

Fingers crossed all is ok for you woman.

CuriosityColaKilledTheCat · 25/10/2012 19:38

woman hope you are ok and getting lots of tlc McDonald's from dh.

somethingwittynot · 25/10/2012 20:16

thanks guinea! apparantly i need to do core excercises but once the bean is born? i was never even given core excersises to do just pelvic floors wich i didnt do so i piss myself when laughing/sneezing/throwing /farting my pelvic floor is shot! maybe this baby will just drop out? im saggy enough!

ICompletelyKnowAboutGuineaPigs · 25/10/2012 20:57

You can start strengthening your core even during pregnancy - in fact women with strong core muscles often have more efficient labours! I'm ordering the 'Perfect Pushing' DVD from Julie Tupler where she gives you exercises to strengthen your core as well as relax your pelvic floor at the same time - apparently the most appropriate analogy for birth is pushing as if you're squeezing toothpaste out of a tube [hconfused] I'll let you know how it goes!

I keep meaning to start my pregnancy yoga DVD that arrived at the weekend which I'm pretending isn't a full week ago now but I keep having baths instead. Speaking of baths, I have a lovely, full, warm-but-not-hot-as-per-babycentre-instructions bath waiting upstairs. Might even treat myself to a low alcohol wine [hsmile]

AWomanCalledHorse · 26/10/2012 00:40

In the words of those rich bastards on Dragons Den; 'I'm out'.
The McDonalds was lovely though!

something, my Dr asked me today if I was still doing my core & pelvic floor exercises. Noone mentioned core exercises to me either!

Guinea [hconfused] toothpaste out of a tube? Cannon ball out of the eye of a needle is more what I thought, those women who just 'breathe' the baby out are bloody lucky!!

Curiosity (ooh, feels like I'm talking to the Mars Rover!), great news about the scan!

MrsBri · 26/10/2012 01:35

Oh god, Woman, are you absolutely sure? Have you been scanned?

I'm so sorry.

tiredteddy · 26/10/2012 08:27

woman very sorry to hear your news. Sending you hugs and support via the airwaves, don't be gone too long. X

livismum · 26/10/2012 08:46

Oh woman so sorry this ttc lark can be a bitch sometimes, fingers crossed we see you over here again soon xxxx

Well I told DH this morning, he was having a lie in so having placed the DD's in front of the tv with breakfast snuck back in to him brandishing pee stick, typical laid back hubby, doesn't want to get too excited yet, but was pleased I have a reason for too tight jeans Smile

tiredteddy · 26/10/2012 17:09

How are you today woman ? feeling ok?

CuriosityColaKilledTheCat · 26/10/2012 18:34

women make sure you are extra good to yourself and continue to get plenty of tlc from dh. Hope to see you back on here soon.

AWomanCalledHorse · 26/10/2012 18:54

Thanks (why no witches hat flowers?).
DH is being fantastic & has done all the child rearing & looking after me without so much as a peep about how blardy tired he is (DS played up last night, he was up for work at 0400 & has been on the go since then).

I'll aim to get back here before any of you ladies leave for the postnatal group!!

WingDefence · 26/10/2012 19:31

Oh bless your DH. Neck a couple of glasses of Wine tonight [hsmile]

somethingwittynot · 26/10/2012 20:23

woman im so sorry :( one of the most fertile times ifter a losss so hopefully you will be back soom

CuriosityColaKilledTheCat · 26/10/2012 21:02

Don't worry woman I am setting the trend for people coming back again Wink. There is another person pregnant (dyna) and one hoping for a new year bfp. I'm sure you will be back here in no time anyway.

Glad your dh is being so amazing.

Hope everyone has a good weekend.

tiredteddy · 27/10/2012 09:36

My mum is home from hospital! Smile

WingDefence · 27/10/2012 09:41

That's great tired! Some good news on a crap morning. I'm currently having a row with DH as I think he's being a got and he thinks I'm nagging him. Sigh.

tiredteddy · 27/10/2012 09:53

Thanks wing .

I always find we gave a weekend row. But ours is usually related to what we can fit in in 2 days, shopping, football, park, decorating etc. DH is terrible at predicting timescale so I "hand break" his plans. He sulks. Then we don't get it all done and I say "I told you so!"
It's all par for the course. And more like gentle bickering too.
