CuriosityColaKilledTheCat · 22/10/2012 14:30

Oh, and thanks for the reminder about the flu injection. I think our walk in appointments are next week here.

tiredteddy · 22/10/2012 16:21

curiosity you are so right! Thus thread is moving quicker than ever at the moment! Im only on my phone do hope I remember everything I've read and reply to everyone.

woman I think I bloated into maternity trousers at about 7 weeks Blush more because I had previously list a lot of weight and had new skinny clothes. I would probably have lasted in my old clothes but threw them out. Just starting to wear mat tops now my bump is bigger. I was managing before with normal tops over a longer line vest top.

pineapple how dud the GP appointment go today?

stuck how was your scan?

mrsbri I noticed more twinges this time in the early weeks. I don't remember this from previous pregnancies. Just another of the many symptoms I'm sure.

wing your bump sounds like its coming along nicely. with more movements as well, it's so reassuring to know they are ok in their wiggling away. I've also got MW on weds so will be asking about the flu jab and the whooping cough one too. I'll be 28 weeks on fri so assume they will book both.

In the Teddy house we went bowling and to tgi Fridays for dinner after school last fri fir ds2 birthday. He is sharing a party with a friend in half term. On sat we went to a baptism which was nice and then I had an early night! DH went to friends birthday drinks but we'd forgotten to sort a babysitter. Oops. It was good for him though, he works really hard and doesn't go out much at all. On Sunday we all went swimming and chilled out.

Mum is sounding brighter. They are testing her for diabetes which I know very little about. She saw a doctor from the surgical team today who said one nipple looks like it may not have enough blood supply so they are keeping a close eye. She is up sitting up and able to walk to the toilet now. Which is good as it's only day 3 post op. Missing her though.

Pineapple80 · 22/10/2012 16:24

wing - I got the BabyCentre app on the weekend and might sign up for the emails as well.

Well I just got back from GP appointment. Was pretty quick and easy, blood pressure taken, weighed and questions for the referral form. Dr said I should hear from hospital/midwife within 2 wks and if not to give clinic call to chase. I asked about flu jab but she said a bit too early at this stage and they recommend it after 20 wks. So I guess it's waiting for the call now, I'm feeling excited Smile. Pity about all the waiting though. I'm also thinking of maybe an early private scan for peace of mind, but I will see.

mrsbri & woman - let me know how your appointments go too Smile

Pineapple80 · 22/10/2012 16:26

Cross post tiredteddy! Thanks for asking Smile

WingDefence · 22/10/2012 16:51

I might ask about the flu jab too on Wed but my work arrange for them to be given to everyone at work anyway for free a nurse comes into the office(!) and a voucher for the jab if you can't get to the office so I'll get it one way or t'other.

Tired I was going to ask how your mum was today but I thought it'd be better if you just share when you want to. Glad to hear she's showing signs of improvement already but ouch about the nipple. (Well, ouch about it all really Blush)

Pineapple your appt sounds good :)

Curiosity I keep joking that baby likes cake, biscuits, chocolate, crisps etc so I'm craving those... Grin Otherwise no proper aarrggh i must have that NOW cravings. I didn't with DS either.

ICompletelyKnowAboutGuineaPigs · 22/10/2012 18:46

Hello all.

Goodness me this thread has exploded since I last looked! Welcome to newbies and congrats on BFPs.

Forgive me...I can't remember who said/posted what but will see what I can remember.

Happy belated b,irthday Something and I wouldn't worry too much about dates. I think they can only accurately date pregnancies between 10-14 weeks ish. I was very regularly with DD because she was big for dates but when she arrived at 39 weeks she was covered in vernix suggesting the dates were fine.

I was really bloated from early on and needed maternity trousers really soon but this has eased, though its been replaced by a mini bump! I am measuring 'high' but I think that's probably just down to having baby 3.

Dysgu we got rid of everything after DD because like you we were convinced that we were finished OH still is but was forcibly persuaded! I figured that we don't really need that much and there's loads we're not bothering with - otherwise we will borrow from friends and buy second hand I think.

Got my scan tomorrow which is exciting. My mum is coming so will be nice to have company as OH can't get time off work.

Our car went to the garage this morning and they rang mid-morning to say that the fly-wheel DOES need doing (contrary to their previous guess) and so a new one is an extra £450 on top of a £900 bill Confused but they've managed to source a part for £250 which is a bit of relief.

DS has tonsillitis so a trip to the Drs is in order tomorrow as I sent him to school today because I'm a bad mother but he came home barely able to swallow and you can see the swelling on his neck [embarrassed]

There must be something in the air Wing as I woke up yesterday morning after having rude dreams about DH and we JSd last night for the first time in AGES!

Hope you've all had good days - I had to eject most of my students from all 3 teaching groups today because they hadn't done their prep!

AWomanCalledHorse · 22/10/2012 19:41

SO my appointment today was my pre pre booking appointment. I have to go back on Thursday (when noone is about to watch DS) to go to my pre booking appointment Confused Wasn't like this last year!

Although he did say whooping cough 'isn't a problem until later on'.

Curiosity I only went off food with DS, aside from a massive craving for Whopper burgers one night (went off chicken, chocolate, cheese & the smell of mince)...so hopefully I shouldn't put too much weight on this time (40lbs last time).

tired, that's great news about your mum!

Guinea, sounds hectic at your end, hope DS gets well soon, your scan goes well, the car is alright & a for unprepared students!

somethingwittynot · 22/10/2012 20:03

Im on 2d dc and have got a little bump from 20 weeku tons of movement now!.

StuckInTheFensAwayFromHome · 23/10/2012 09:21

Hi all - plenty to read and catch up on - sounds like lots of people have a lot going on!

My scan last night went really well - the sonographer was more than happy to search for the little one before dealing with my fibroids!! I am now the emotional owner of a 4mm pulse! I couldn't really see anything apart from the flicker of the heartbeat which I couldn't believe is there so early, but the lady was able to tell me that there is a yolk sac and a fetal pole and I am not 7 weeks but only 5 weeks along. Can't stop smiling and crying!

Please excuse the very excited newbie - but the scan was so lovely (despite the probe up my jaxie!) and has made me feel like its more real than the positive test. My mum is staying with us and couldn't stop getting tearful either with comments about how lucky it is to have scans these days! Today at work is going to be a nightmare!!!!

WingDefence · 23/10/2012 09:28

Oh Stuck that is lovely! It's so important to see the heartbeat isn't it :)

Whereabouts in West Manc are you? I'm up NW of Preston but have to go into Manchester for the footy for work from time to time.

Guinea how is your poor DS today? Lots of jelly and ice cream for him!

Woman that is a lot of early appointments Confused

Pineapple80 · 23/10/2012 09:43

stuck - that is wonderful to hear about your scan! Smile

AWomanCalledHorse · 23/10/2012 09:57

Awww stuck, ya big softie, people might mistake you for a Southerner! Grin
So glad the sonographer was happy to do it, does it make a difference to you being 2 weeks behind on what you thought?

I want to go for a private scan, but I don't want to relax and then go to 12wk scan & be told it's not worked out, DH wants to just wait until 12wks ('If it's meant to be it will be') but grrrh!

something, how is the CS scar? Is it more itchy there than the rest of your bump? Have had my fingers crossed for your vbac since you got a bfp!

StuckInTheFensAwayFromHome · 23/10/2012 10:15

I'm just off the East Lancs Road on the outskirts of Boothstown and Worsley. Moved here about a year and half ago and love it. May not be as pretty as my old area in Bristol but its definitely got the friendly northern vibe. As a kid I grew up in Yorkshire, so even though (according to my family) I'm the wrong side of the Pennines I do feel like I've come home by living in the North. Haven't been up Preston way, but we do like getting out into the countryside nearer to your neck of the woods - I like Rivington lots!

2 weeks behind is no difference to me, and it may even mean that if I am late then I could get a baby as a birthday present!

I understand the dilemma about an early scan - I definitely wouldn't have paid for a private one before the standard 12 weeks, but it was too good an opportunity to miss. Because I have absolutely zero symptoms I was finding it really hard to believe I was PG - now I know I am and its not some crazy hormonal thing that gave me a BFP.

MrsBri · 23/10/2012 10:30

Fantastic for you, Stuck :-)

Also good to know that you have zero symptoms, as I don't either, and I'm about the same as you (5+3). I'm very a bit hormonal today though, crying at nothing and with a headache.

Off for my referral to the midwife at 4pm today too. Nervous!

somethingwittynot · 23/10/2012 11:38

woman thankyou for thinking of me! Scar doesnt itch have had some stabbing pains ligament pain is 100x worse but dont know if thats because its dc2 or not and i dont feel movement very much around there as its all numb

Pineapple80 · 23/10/2012 11:51

Good luck with your midwife referral mrsbri, let us know how u get on.

I'm also about the same, I'm right on 5 wks today Smile

swimmingnotdrowning · 23/10/2012 13:24

Hi. Please may I join you? Smile

I've been lurking on the JS thread, too scared to come over here but we saw miniswim yesterday at 12+1 and it's all good so far so I'd like to join in. It's nice to see so many familiar 2faces" on here.

tiredteddy · 23/10/2012 13:36

Oh wow another new member! More congratulations to you swimming

I hope all you newbies are finding the stats thread and adding yourselves too!

WingDefence · 23/10/2012 13:37

Ooh hello swimming! Congrats Grin

Good luck later on Mrs Bri!

Stuck I don't know Rivington at all. And I am DAFT because we live NE of Preston, not NW. Dur.

MrsBri · 23/10/2012 16:45

Well...dull appt! Normal BP, weight as normal, no questions to say yes to re health. Just have to wait for a midwife appt now. Which will be on a Monday afternoon and the latest I will be able to leave work is at 3, so will be forced into telling my manager early :-(

WingDefence · 23/10/2012 16:53

MrsBri, just say it's a dentist's appointment or a smear or something like that. You do not have to tell them early if you don't want to.

MrsBri · 23/10/2012 16:57

I won't be allowed to leave early for that. Flexi is 9-10 or 4-5.15. Time off during the day is only allowed during those times or at lunch, unless you're a manager or pregnant. Annoying.

But also my fault for living and working so far apart!

AWomanCalledHorse · 23/10/2012 17:52

MrsBri, so the other option is to get a promotion in the next few days, easy right? Wink
Sorry you've got to tell them so early, have you got any leave you can take instead?

I've been thinking 'hmmm, I don't feel pg' then today I have almost every symptom under the sun, which is great! DH has been sent out for all manner of treaty goodness.

WingDefence · 23/10/2012 17:58

Call in sick MrsBri?!

MrsBri · 23/10/2012 18:06

No, I'm also out of leave, sadly. A promotion would be convenient, ha ha!

I'm jealous of your symptoms. I still have none other than the sore / growing boobs and twinges. No cravings / aversions / sickness. :-/

And if I call in sick I don't get paid. And that is almost as suspicious as going early as I've not had a day off sick in over 2 years (due to aforementioned tightness!).

Hopefully my appointment won't be too soon. Though my scan should be at about 10 weeks, so got to be before then!
