Oh something there's 13 months between my sister and I too! We were such playmates when we were small and great friends still. Smile

ICompletelyKnowAboutGuineaPigs · 11/10/2012 18:15

Well I just had a lengthy and emotional supervision (2.5 hours which is long for my meetings)

Part of the supervision was planning for my final year so I ended up having to tell them as it does put a spanner in the works somewhat - I will have a year maternity leave which will be leave from teaching and an official suspension of studies. This impacts on my final submission date and the timetable of how we get to it.

But mainly the supervision was about how I have been really despondent and disengaged from my work over the last 6-8 months (i didn't think they'd noticed [shocked]) but it seems that they are worried. I am effectively trying to do a fulltime PhD in 1.5 days (dont ask!) And when I'm really motivated I do quite a good job of doing it. Unfortunately I have not been motivated and consequently not been doing it. Anyway, to cut a long story short I ended up having to be extremely honest about how behind I am and how I'm feeling at the moment, which I found really embarrassing and I'm not good at admitting I'm not coping. My supervisor was very understandingand we had a frank discussion but it was emotional and a ended up.crying a number of times (stupid pregnancy hormones!) And feel a bit battered (although better).

Sorry for the very lengthy post.

Hope you've all had a more pleasant afternoon Smile.

tiredteddy · 11/10/2012 18:25

guinea sounds like you have had a very hard day. But it also sounds like it was for the best. Honesty is the best policy and all that. A new plan to move forward and you will feel much more relaxed with them knowing you pregnant and I bet your motivation will improve. The pressure is off a bit now and is only a good thing I think. Well done for dealing with it too. Think I would have just buried my head in the sand. I also cried today as ds2 had autographed his school reading book Blush so I had to own up to his teacher which was fine but he was so embarrassed he went into a rage of shouting kicking and screaming. All at the school gates. It was awful. Then I had a sobbing ds2 beside himself to manhandle back to the car in the tai. With all the scooters and school crap too!

somethingwittynot · 11/10/2012 18:39

tired thats what im hoping for! DS is currently finishing his spaghetti and making approving noises Grin

WingDefence · 11/10/2012 19:16

Guinea I've been there with work before (not quite so much this year, despite what you all must think about me!). It is absolutely horrible getting so behind and then having to confess all but tired is right about hopefully now having a plan to go forward.

I find motivation a massive factor in my procrastination (or lack of it, depending on my motivation!). Are you still happy with the PhD itself or do you feel you might want to change it or postpone it for the time being to work out whether you do get you motivation back or not?

Do you definitely need a PhD in whatever field you want to continue doing? I hope you can sleep on it for a few nights and have a think about what's best for you going forward.

Tired you've also had a rubbish day! :( Poor DS2 must have felt awful to have wound himself into such a state. Had you told him you were going to tell the teacher at the school gates, or at all? Perhaps he just didn't know and felt really unprepared? (Even though I'm sure you said when you found out that you'd have to tell the teacher.)

Hopefully he'll be a lot better in the morning.

I'm still working. Ahahahahahaha DH is on his way back home from work though so I have about 90 mins to get a few hours of work done. Hmm. Wish I could neck some Wine to keep me going!

WingDefence · 11/10/2012 23:08

Anyone else up?

I'm still working. DH has gone to bed and I'm knackered. :(

tiredteddy · 12/10/2012 00:10

Yes I'm up. I had told ds2 we would have to tell his teacher. Just didn't want to do in in the morning and then upset him going into school. She was great actually. Just said give her the book and she wouldn't go over it again as he'd been upset enough. I told him she wasn't cross but he was too embarrassed to deal with it. Oh well tomorrow is a new day and all that. Don't stay up too late wing as babywing needs you well rested x

WingDefence · 12/10/2012 07:44

Hi Tired - I am TiredDefence this morning [shocked]

WingDefence · 12/10/2012 07:45

I meant Shock Dur...

ICompletelyKnowAboutGuineaPigs · 12/10/2012 10:30

And so it begins...went to the midwife this morning and when she palpated me she said I felt more like 16 weeks and I'm only 10+6! She did listen to the heartbeat though and she said it was perfect Grin

I've been a bit anxious recently even though I've been hearing the heartbeat. I dreamt last night that the baby died and it was so vivid and also bizarre. Slept atrociously after that, plus DD slept badly again last night. We all slept in this morning and had to rush out of the house to get to the mw - my hair looks a picture!

Hope you manage to get through the day ok despite your tiredness Wing. I would love a nap this afternoon but will have to bribe DD I think...any suggestions?

tiredteddy · 12/10/2012 12:18

Morning tiredWING! Hope you got some sleep. One more day of work then it's the weekend. Any nice plans?

Hi guinea glad the midwife appointment was good. Try not to worry even though it's hard as we all know. I'm sure your little one is growing nicely. Hopefully a scan soon will help set you worries at rest.

We are going to the 02 arena tonight to see Cirque Du Soliel : the immortal. It the one based on Michael jacksons music and videos. I'm a big fan of cirque du soliel and have been to see them 3 times at the Albert hall. We are taking the boys as a we are trying to do a few family trips before minitired arrives in the new year. I'm very excited!

CuriosityColaKilledTheCat · 12/10/2012 12:21

Hello, I'm from the just Mumming thread (have a 13 month old). Got a bfp yesterday. Not sure what thread I belong on now so will probably jump between them :)

My due date is 16th June 2013. Do you guys have a stats thread? Glad to see the jsing thread has been working so well Smile

tiredteddy · 12/10/2012 12:24

Oh wow! Hi curiosity and welcome back! There is a stats thread somewhere with a similar name to this one. Erm something like shagged out viroids stats thread. Nice to have a new member and congratulations!

WingDefence · 12/10/2012 12:48

Welcome Curiosity! You could almost have been on three threads at once... Just Shagging, Shagged Out and Just Mumming... Grin

Congrats!

ICompletelyKnowAboutGuineaPigs · 12/10/2012 13:08

Welcome Curiosity and congrats on your BFP.

I'm wondering if the anxiety is related to hormones because it seems to be worse on the days when I feel sick and am the most tired. It's strange because I'm usually really laid back. I don't think the possibility of there being anything wrong even occurred to me in my other pregnancies. I think I just know more now than I did then. Oh the darker side of MN!

Tired I'm really Envy of your trip - I've wanted to see Cirque du Soleil for ages as they always look amazing on TV. Hope you have a lovely family trip and all goes smoothly. Full report back please!

CuriosityColaKilledTheCat · 12/10/2012 13:28

I can't see it. When are you all due? No real symptoms here other than tiredness.

Sorry to hear that morning sickness has got some of you.

WingDefence · 12/10/2012 13:34

It's here Curiosity!

tiredteddy · 12/10/2012 13:35

Hi curiosity have a look in the antenatal section it's now at the top of the list as I bumped it up for you to find! Think I'm furthest along 26 weeks due on 18th jan. it will be dc3 i have two boys age 8 and nearly 5. The scan said this one is a girl but don't think ill believe it until i see it! I'll let the others tell you about themselves!

WingDefence · 12/10/2012 17:33

I got the last paper finally done!

I am a broken woman this week. It all kicked off about something else at work today which threw things a bit and DH has been really annoying me as well so I'm just going to keep a low profile and maybe even go out for a walk in the dark later to clear my head a bit.

Tomorrow DS has a 4th birthday party at a soft play centre and then we're off to a charity afternoon tea at the nearby posh hotel on Sunday and to my parents' church (that I've not been to yet) for their harvest songs of praise in the evening.

Then two jam-packed days in London on Monday/Tuesday and more mad workload for the rest if the week.

Argh!!!!!

ICompletelyKnowAboutGuineaPigs · 12/10/2012 19:27

Just think what good practice the relaxing breathing will be when miniWing makes his/her entrance! Well done on getting your paper done (for some reason when I thought I'd typed 'paper' I had actually typed 'baby' Confused ... It made for a very odd sentence!)

Curiosity I am also on DC3 and currently have an almost (Halloween) 6 yr old DS and a 2 yr old DD. I'm due in April/May next year - not sure until I have my scan in a week or 2.

I've got 233 raffle tickets to stick to the back of school disco tickets and name label each ticket. The JOYS of being a PTA secretary!

WingDefence · 12/10/2012 19:50

Guinea I'm on the committee of my village's preschool/after school club/breakfast club provider and I've just been emailing back comments on the parental behaviour policy! They always say if you want something done, ask a busy person...

Still, the footy is on tonight and even focussing on my iPad is not helping with my eye strain so I'm going to switch off soon. I can't be bothered to go out for a walk now even though I do still really want to get some fresh air!

somethingwittynot · 12/10/2012 21:32

welcome and congrats on the bfp! im on Dc 2 and im 20+3 my DS is nearly 9 months im suffering with agonising ligament pain cant walk without feeling sick due to the pain.

i to had a bad dream last night dreamt i was gushing blood and had a placental abruption but only i could see the blood?

WingDefence · 12/10/2012 21:43

Blimey something that sounds bad :( Hope you have better dreams tonight.

I went for my walk. A stunning evening, tons of beautiful stars out as I walked the lanes around where I live. I could hear overfull brooks rushing past, smell wood fires burning and sweet siloed fields and breathed in the cool fresh air.

I almost feel like a different person :)

Off to bed. Night all.

ICompletelyKnowAboutGuineaPigs · 12/10/2012 22:06

Sounds very serene Wing like something from The Waltons! I'm Envy actually as I quite like walking in the dark but round here it would be cigarette smoke, street lights and traffic noise...the joys of city life I suppose, still Tesco's only up the road!

somethingwittynot · 12/10/2012 23:22

to make up for my bad dream bump popped today Grin
