Evening all! The day from HELL today. Awful train journeys and missed connections and the meeting was as bad as I could have hoped for dreaded.

DH has gone out to a church meeting so I'm sitting in my pyjamas watching Britain & Ireland's Next Top Model (so if you've seen this week's, don't tell me!).

We've been slowly telling more and more people in the last couple of days which has been lovely. I told some of my old netball team last night, said not to tell anyone else so of course they blabbed to the rest of the team and our other sister team at their match. So DH and I have had to do some catching up with telling other close friends today in case they found out second hand!

We also told DS tonight when my parents were here (they'd taken him to the big waterpark at Blackpool today) but I think he was so tired because when we told him, in a no-big-deal sort of way, he just went quiet. Not the reaction I was expecting to be honest :(

I mentioned it again to him just before he went up to bed and we went through all his friends who have brothers and sisters and he thought for a minute and then said that when the baby comes he won't play with his Lego or train track (that we have in the lounge pretty much permanently) in case the baby lost some of the pieces - bless :) We said that was a good idea but that when the baby does come it won't do much else than eat, sleep, poo and cry!

Those of you with more than one child (Tired, just you?) how have you broken it to them in the past or how have any of you done it this time round? I think there's meant to be a good book out there for this situation which perhaps I'll try to find.

Anyway, back to BINTM. I wonder if I have any chocolate kicking around...

WingDefence · 27/09/2012 19:50

Oh and Tired if I had been in London today I would have DEMANDED a coffee date with you! Grin

tiredteddy · 27/09/2012 20:10

How cool would have been to have a mini mumsnet meetup coffee wing maybe another time!

When we told the boys we showed them the scan pic and they were suitably thrilled but a couple of friends had new babies and they had been asking for siblings recently. They are also 8 and 4 so old enough to understand. When we told ds1 about ds2 years ago he was less enthused but I think that's because he was 2.5 so little. He kind of grew into the idea in time.

FrustratedSycamorePants · 27/09/2012 20:14

Hi wing I have 2 already. Dd1 was a bright 2.5yr old when dd2 was born, we told her when the bump was showing, so around the 2nd scan. I found it better to tell later as she wanted the baby here now. But enjoyed the kicking part of my pg, and I bathed with her and she talked to the bump. Which was really sweet.
I think I will do the same this time, as dd2 is a right here right now kind of gal. So the least waiting the better. might change my mind though

ICompletelyKnowAboutGuineaPigs · 28/09/2012 08:55

I have 2 already as well Wing. I told DS when I had a bump with DD but this was quite early on to be honest. He was 3 when she was born so sort.of knew what was going on. He took it really well.

This time I told them both much earlier but that's because I've been feeling really delicate and I'm usually quite active with them. DD didn't understand why I couldn't bounce on the trampoline with her, or why she can't stand on my tummy!!

We showed them the early scan picture and asked if they knew what it was. DS did because he's nearly 6 and we've seen a close friends scan pictures recently. The conversation just went on from there. They are both excited but DD is impatient! She keeps saying 'can the baby come out now', but she's very cute...she keeps giving me her food and telling me its for the baby but its definitely going to be a long few months!

We've got a good book.called It's Not Fair by Anita Harper & Mary McQuillan.

I've still got horrendous tooth ache and another appointment with the dentist today.
Yesterday I got some good news though...for the last couple of months when I thought I was paying my childminder I was actually paying the money into somebody's mortgage account! Because it was my mistake they were under no obligation to give the money back so we would have been down by £650. But they agreed to return it and we got a cheque yesterday. Phew!

Plus when I paid the cheque into the bank I spotted a baby swinging chair in a charity shop. It was.in immaculate condition so I couldn't resist!

Sorry to hear your meeting was so bad Wing, a bit Envy of your London shopping trip Tired, but glad you had a good day.

Hooya · 28/09/2012 11:39

Hello all - it's Friday, woohoo!

Guinea that's so bad about the tooth ache - isn't it supposed to be one of the worst pains ever? Hope appointment today helps!

Tired I am jealous of your trip - I lived in London until a couple of years ago, and I do miss the shopping (among many other things!).

I completely forgot I was pg today Blush , even though I had been up in the middle of the night to eat (been getting ravenous, painful hunger, then nausea if I don't eat!). I had a really busy day, very scary meeting this morning, and then at about 5pm I remembered all of a sudden as I hadn't eaten for a couple hours and felt sick again!

Starting to worry about workwear - does anyone have recommendations for office mat wear? I usually wear very tailored stuff, dresses and matching suit jackets... I am also pretty worried about being taken seriously at work with a bump, since women here usually quit when they get married (no wonder I'm the only woman in most meetings Hmm ) so I want to look as smart as possible no clue how that is possible tbh

somethingwittynot · 28/09/2012 14:03

Sorry havent been around much. Been christmas shopping and.sleeping x

fryingpantoface · 28/09/2012 14:15

Hi!

Have been gone so long I had to actually search for this thread!

I've not caught up with everything yet, but I will. I'm 10 weeks today,.3 weeks until my scan. Can't wait.

Just been really busy with life. Ds is more active now so testing is pretty difficult.

I'm already sporting a huge bump. I've been told a few times I look about 4 months gone.

WingDefence · 28/09/2012 14:41

Hi again Something and Frying!! I wonder how Dysgu is getting on...?

Hooya I bought some bits and pieces from Isabella Oliver which are super-smart (lovely work shirts, dresses etc). You can often get it on eBay but the prices do hold up well so still aren't exactly cheap IYKWIM? Their dresses are also fantastic.

I've also got some Next maternity trousers but for the first couple of months I seem to remember just wearing elasticated skirts i.e. ones that can be seen as smart enough, with stretchy tops and then smart jackets over the top, not necessarily done up!

For me though I may not get much wear out of them since I work from home most of the time!

Frying ooh 10 weeks... :) Something I haven't even started thinking about Christmas. No time to so far!

We're off to our neighbour's wedding reception tonight in the village hall. Last week we had another of our neighbour's 40th birthday party... in the village hall. It's the place to be! At least this week I can tell people why I'm not drinking and not feel bad about leaving early :)

tiredteddy · 29/09/2012 11:33

Hi everyone. Hope you all ok? Any exciting plans this weekend?

ICompletelyKnowAboutGuineaPigs · 29/09/2012 13:26

Afternoon all. I had the beginnings of a root canal done yesterday and I slept brilliantly last night, yippee!

I went to a church event last night where Olympic rower Debbie Flood was being interviewed and it was really interesting. I have a great picture holding the Olympic torch and a silver Olympic meal on, the closest I'll ever get to them!

Currently waiting for a bus as DH has taken DCs swimming and I need to get some trousers that fit me! Listening to a couple of women moaning INCESSANTLY, oh the joys!

Me and OH are going out tonight as my mum is having the kids overnight and then we've got a harvest service at church in the morning. That's about the sum if my weekend I think.

Hope you're all feeling Smile.

tiredteddy · 29/09/2012 14:42

guinea so glad your tooth is on the way to getting better. It sounds like you have a great weekend ahead too. We are decorating the lounge... The boys are trying to help! Eek!

ICompletelyKnowAboutGuineaPigs · 29/09/2012 18:11

Gosh, that sounds messy! Good luck. I've just left DCs at my mums where they were 'mending' her glass coffee table with DSs pretend tools! It's nice when children want to help but not necessarily easy - fingers crossed I'm sure it will look lovely.

tiredteddy · 29/09/2012 18:38

What are you doing for you lovely child free night out guinea ? Hope you have a good evening.

Hooya · 30/09/2012 01:32

Thanks for the tip Wing, will take a look!

Giunea glad about the teeth! Having had about 4 root canals Sad I know how much of a relief it is!

I'm having a lovely long weekend, watching the golf (though that is stressful as Europe are losing) and getting excited / nervous for Monday scan. If we see a heartbeat and doc gives an ok assessment of MC risk, we're going to tell our parents afterwards! Huge fears of the skype calls freezing or something while we do...

fryingpantoface · 30/09/2012 10:13

Last night was childless.for us too, we went to the pub, got a chinese then watched the advengers. Love that film.

Today i'm picking up my son from preston on the train and then coming home.

Good luck for tomorrow hooya

tiredteddy · 30/09/2012 19:29

Good lunch tomorrow hooya let us know how you get on x

ChildOfThe1980s · 30/09/2012 21:17

(Tip-toes in, looks round, sneaks behind sofa.)

Hello everyone, so nice to 'see' some familiar faces again. I have been off-board for 6 weeks as that's when I had my MC. But I am back now with a BFP. :)

Haven't had a period (naughty) so don't really know my dates - but I'm sticking with 6 weeks for now. I feel SO pregnant this time round - big sore boobs, sickness most days, trousers getting tight etc so feeling quite positive. Last time (when I MCd) I didn't feel preggo at all.

Hope you are all well and I'm very jealous of your scans - I guess I have to wait 6 weeks or so for mine.

Hooya · 01/10/2012 07:44

Child so happy for you! Brilliant news!

And in a strange way especially nice for me to hear as my news isn't good - 3rd scan showed it hasn't worked out, funny shaped sac being reabsorbed, no development of the embryo since the last scan. Sad especially since the positive progress between the first two scans had given me hope Sad

Bit scared of the next bit but I'm sure it won't be as bad as I expect and I'll be back to JSing soon and even following Child's example!

Sorry to have to leave you lovely people but all the very best of luck and hopefully I'll be back over here sometime! Smile

WingDefence · 01/10/2012 08:14

Morning all!

Congratulations Child - that's fantastic news!!

And good luck today Hooya Grin I pray you come back to us with good news later Brew

WingDefence · 01/10/2012 08:16

Oh noooooooo Hooya I didn't see your last post. I'm so utterly sorry. I didn't expect your scan to have been this early today :(

I hope to see you back on here very soon x

fryingpantoface · 01/10/2012 08:45

Child - yey! Welcome back :-)

Hooya - i'm sorry. I know it's rubbish, but we'll see you again soon.I know.

Well, after a night of nightmares about me loosing the baby (totally unfounded. Just all my symptoms seen to have gone) we have decided to have a private scan as there's 3 weeks until our first scan. So it's on thursday just before 4. Mixed feelings about it really. Part of me feels it's a waste of money 2 weeks before the nhs one, but at the same time I hope it gives me and dh.some peace of mind.

ChildOfThe1980s · 01/10/2012 09:47

So sorry Hooya. :( I also had a funny shaped sac, which is weird because I'd never heard of that before. My MC was physically painless, so I hope that yours will be too.

Hugs and chocolate for you. x

tiredteddy · 01/10/2012 10:52

Hi hooya I'm very sorry that you are leaving us. I hope you will be back very soon with a lovely new BFP. Good luck and my very best wishes.

child welcome and congratulations!

Practisingparent · 01/10/2012 22:11

Sorry Hooya, thats really sad, but considering how soon you managed to conceive, Im sure we will see you back here soon.

Child many congratulations, you must be thrilled particularly after last time. Symptoms are a very good sign, Im told.

Im back after about 3 weeks away from you girls! Had a lovely holiday in Barcelona and Ibiza, although last week was pretty horrendous, feeling sick etc.

Have been getting mad bloating too everyday, so in the morning I look my normal self, and by the evening I look like Im 6 months pregnant! Have begun to unfasten buttons and wear forgiving tops.

Found some gorgeous clothes in Jojo Maman Bebe. Fab rap around tops, that I think I will live in for the next few months! Bit pricey, but I think they are worth every penny.

wing exciting to hear of your scan, and so nice to come out and start owning the truth to friends. I have now told work and my mummy friends, (as they all guessed anyway)

Good Luck frying on your scan, very tempted to get a private scan myself, would just love to have some reassurance, but my nuchal is booked for 2 weeks time now, so cant really justify it to DH. Hope everything looks well.
