Makes sense Zoey. I guess I'm a perfect candidate really because I "just" go into labour, there's no reason - even the Hughes Syndrome shouldn't cause it - and all they've been able to do before is monitor it. The research MW was surprised I'd managed to get so far along with my #2, but we've always put it down to her being so tiny.

sarahs999, I've heard about prednisolone, I thought it was supposed to be really good - probably spin a few years ago lol. They're saying Aspirin would improve the outcomes if every woman took it.

When you start contracting from 23 weeks and end up staying in every week or two you have to keep some sort of humour, calling my body impatient is how I've kept it going and it sums up what happens in every pregnancy quicker than I get irritable from 23 weeks and deliver prematurely. Of course I'd love to keep them in longer, 6 years on and still dealing with the affects of it, having a 3 year old who can pinch her 15 month old sister's clothes (their bridesmaids dresses were the same size just different lengths) I'd swap it all for the stretch marks I don't have and all the complaints people make at the end of pregnancy. I don't enjoy what I go through having them early, never knowing where I stand, whether this time will be it. The only impatience from me is wanting it all over with - whenever that is, just on the other side - so that I don't have to keep going through it all.

About movement, as you pass 12 weeks and the uterus pops (comes above the pubic bone) you'll start to feel them more.

OodHousekeeping · 03/09/2012 18:33

Am lurking as I can't keep up on the comments [blush ]

Em2010 · 03/09/2012 18:38

confuddled sorry my poor old pregnant brain can't quite keep up but you mentioned that aspirin can improve chances of something? I am on it for previous preeclampsia but the consultant who prescribed it said it was a "wonder" drug in pregnancy so just curious what the other benefits are?

ethelred that's me in the village with the palace!! Hello! Sorry for the cryptic clue!

Had to leave work early here as so shattered I couldn't keep my eyes open. Just got to get ds on bed now and dh his dinner and then I'm going to crash!!

Em2010 · 03/09/2012 18:41

Ps am laughing away at the chicken suggestions! I'd love some chickens. Tried to teach ds about circle of life by ex

Em2010 · 03/09/2012 18:43

Ooh sausage fingers ... Tried to explain that ds's roast pork yesterday was like peppa pig and ds looked rather upset so I quickly took my suggestion back. Don't want to traumatise the kid!

backwardpossom · 03/09/2012 18:46

Evening all, had a GREAT scan today. Baby was being an awkward bugger, legs and arms waving about all over the place, lying in a daft position etc. Just like his/her brother... Sonographer said nuchal looked well within the normal range and that everything looks healthy, but obviously I'll have to wait to get the official results etc. Am delighted! Saw the consultant - he was a lovely guy but they'd made a mistake when they booked me an appointment with him - it should have been with the same consultant I saw after DS. So they've made me an appointment to see him at 28 weeks to (hopefully!) book in for a section. So I'm now apparently 13+3 (which is actually pretty impossible going by my dates, but I'll not complain) and am due on the 8th of March!

Em2010 · 03/09/2012 18:53

Aw! Fab news possom I'm really pleased to hear your scan went well!

Sheldonella · 03/09/2012 18:57

Great news possom. I was put further on that I think possible too, not sure how that works.

I just got my combined nuchal/blood results back and the risk is less than 1/10000 which I'm very happy about :)

In other new, IO dress fits and is lovely.

peanutMD · 03/09/2012 19:02

Glad to see all the scans went well :)

Tiddley just be careful around the chicks and eggs when they get older as they are a breeding ground for salmonella which can be passed on easily.

So us anyone else having a definate CS?

DS was born by ECS due to complications in labour and foetal distress and although I wanted to avoid another, consultant advised me to have a CS to avoid anxiety.

confuddledDOTcom · 03/09/2012 19:08

Em, they reckon that if every pregnant woman was to take it that the pregnancy outcome would be much improved. When we're pregnant our blood clots easier anyway which isn't necessarily a good thing, most women it doesn't matter but if there is already an undiagnosed issue then it does. It improves the blood flow to the placenta/ baby so helps keep them healthy.

peanutMD · 03/09/2012 19:12

Oh just opened my downs screening letter, low risk 1/2658 :o

JoJoBella84 · 03/09/2012 19:49

You ladies are making me chuckle with your chicken talk!!

Another full on day today. Out the door at 7.45 and returned at 7.15, have done more painting today, one room has been completed, first coat has been done in hallway and stairs, I've painted around the edges of the nursery so that just needs a first roller tomorrow night... As well as the builders starting today! The kitchen is no more, the knackered shed where the extension will go has been ripped out, as have two of the internal walls and the bathroom! Luckily the builders left the loo in there for me!! Though I do have to ask them to leave the house if I need to use it as the bathroom wall has gone!!

manda the pains didn't last long, maybe 3-5 secs of really intense pain which stopped me in my tracks, it quickly reduced to a throb and then eased. I took things easy for the rest of the day :)

The hospital have not called me today, fx for tomorrow. I have a MW appt so if I haven't heard anything I'll ask her to chase it up!

scans congrats to all who have now met their bouncing beans!!
I have my 20 week date but as I'll be having surgery in Aberdeen I dont know if I'll be in York for it or not! I might not be able to find out the sex of the baby :( sad JoJo

OodHousekeeping · 03/09/2012 19:54

peanut I'm a CS too. Had three already.

backwardpossom · 03/09/2012 19:54

I'll be a CS, peanut

jojo it sucks that they wont tell us the sex up here!

randomswitch · 03/09/2012 20:12

Hullo all, had scan today. Baby squiggle was very calm but consultant said she had her thumb by her mouth and was probably having a nap. Makes sense as I had a carb heavy lunch before going for the scan and was ready for a sleep myself! ( that and the fact that the doctor said my bladder was so full she didn't have room to move around! Well they said come with a full bladder so I did!)

confuddledDOTcom · 03/09/2012 20:16

I'm having a 2VBASS2C Grin or my second VBAC after a special scar and 2 sections.

theTramp · 03/09/2012 20:20

Marvellou scane and blood result news everyone. Hurrah!

JoJoBella84 · 03/09/2012 20:38

possum I agree! It sucks! I was pricing up private scans I'm not sure the oh would agree to the cost!! I may have to bung it on my student overdraft and still have it done in York. I think mothercare have a baby bond centre or something.
We'll see how impatient I get :)

backwardpossom · 03/09/2012 20:42

There's this one in Aberdeen, but £75 for a 5-10 min scan to tell you the sex and you get 2 pics?! Sorry, I'm Aberdonian, we're not exactly renowned for parting with money easily Wink

scubastevie · 03/09/2012 20:50

Evening all!

Had a fantastic scan today, all ok. Was so so nervous as was DH, but it was just amazing. She just suddenly pressed it on and there was this full perfect image of a baby, just breathtaking! I cried and even DH had tears and I have never ever seen him cry. Baby was wiggling legs just as they came on the screen, got a fab photo with it's hand up by the head waving. Such an emotional day. Sorry to go on Blush just can't get over it.
Just put the pic up on fb and getting lots of lovely comments. Suddenly feels very real.

Have been down to the quay to celebrate in the pub, sat in the sun all afternoon and had pub dinner, plus met with some friends that we were able to tell in person which was lovely.

Also got date for 20 week scan on 29th October (anyone else? ) Will definitely be finding out the sex too, soo impatient. I know they'll be in mainly babygros the first few months anyway but might alter some of our nursery things.

Loving the chicken talk. We would love chickens but garden not quite big enough. Also admiring all of your allotment experts and vegetable growers, we tried but again the garden not that big I think we didn't put in big enough pots or maybe we were supposed to them some kind of plant food too? Are you? We have however sucessfully grown blackberries this year Grin

Sorry for mammoth post. Quite tired after today's excitement and not much sleep last night at all so I think early night for us! Night all.

scubastevie · 03/09/2012 20:52

Sorry, random that is great news about your scan, congrats Grin

scubastevie · 03/09/2012 20:54

oh and Em and backward so sorry Blush, great news all round.

JoJoBella84 · 03/09/2012 21:03

possum I think the one in York charge £79 but it doesn't give details... You have to give them your info and they'll contact you... I don't like that. I'd rather find out the info without the 'sales' pressure!! Fx I can change my York scan date and just have the NHS one. I really need the hospital to call me tomorrow and tell me what's going on, I have to arrange when I'm going back to Uni and sort out transport back to York (another 6 hour train ride :( ).
As well as all of my MW care which is expected to start in York on the 24th... Grrr I'm frustrated. Every single time amh have told me they'll call me they haven't, granted the last couple of times were for blood results but still. If they say they'll call, I expect them to call!!

HermioneBoo · 03/09/2012 21:13

I think I'm the last of the 3rd Sept massive to post, even though my scan was at 9am! Anyway, I am the very happy recipient of a jumping bean, it was so active the sonographer had trouble taking the photo cos it wouldn't sit still! We have a pic of it saluting and you can see the bottom of its right foot, and its little tiny toes!
My one photo cost £4 but she let us sit staring at it move on the screen for a long while, it turned this way and that and waved to us, we could see its face straight on and then it shifted and we could see its back and the back of its head.
My dates completely lined up with the dating scan so no movement on due date, my 20 week scan will be 24th Oct (the other ladies that were there for their 20 week scan looked huge, it seems impossible that I'll be that much bigger by the end of next month!). I put up the photo on Facebook so a few of my colleagues at work found out that way, my managers already knew so I just went and talked to a few people that aren't on Facebook. I figure that the ones I wouldn't talk to as friends or on Facebook will figure it out once bump appears anyway!
Sorry for the mememe post, congrats to the other scanees on their positive scans today!

FloweryBoots · 03/09/2012 21:15

SOOOO many posts to catch up on! Had a quick glance. Great scan news everyone, and NT results.

I'd love chickens, but don't think DH would ever agree. My sis got some recently and they are really lovely. Make such a nice sound!

So, all good at our scan. Lovely little mini boots in there, and definately just the one. Seemed pretty still and calm but lovely to see him/her. Also my dates got put back to my origional of 6 march instead of mysterious 13 March midwife came up with. So, 13 +5 today and will be able to leave stinky job a week earlier for mat leave.

Will be telling childminders tomorrow and then can start talking to DS about it (didn't want him to out us before we're ready to tell people, though given that he does a mean impression of me being sick whenever he seas a toilet I wonder if the childminders have been treated to that and suspect). have a really cute book to read to him about it.
