Back from scan and we have a little bean!! Phew! I had convinced myself that it was going to be bad news so am mightily relieved but now a touch scared as its suddenly all real!

Scan was interesting as I had to have three attempts due to position of the baby (who appears to be lazy or just very comfy) and my non favourable BMI. Very cross and disgusted with myself for having a bigger belly than I should have and really hope that this doesn't compromise our little bean.

Photos were crap because of it but the important thing is that everything looks ok so just have to wait for the results of the blood tests now. Dates were bang on so still due in 13.03.13 :-)

Congrats on your scan ThreeForTea x

zoeymlucas · 31/08/2012 14:04

Congrats on your scans glad to hear everyone is getting to see there little beans and everythign is well :)

Great due date Emus its the same as me

Also huge congrats on yoru results sarah and I am glad you can now relax and just enjoy your pregnancy :)

DontSayWhatSayPardon · 31/08/2012 14:17

Congrats to everyone on their successful scans today. So lovely to hear, very encouraging!

Ethel and Shield it is indeed me who has a scan on 10th as well! Glad there are some others who have to wait as long Smile

Other than that I must confess to not being able to keep up with the conversation! Every time I check back there are another 50 odd messages since last time and no time to read them all. So apologies in advance for patchy attendance!

Happy Friday everyone! Grin

I've just received a huge bunch of flowers from my best mate, how sweet of her, I love her! They are all pink flowers too so can't wait to find out what we are having!

Got an estate agent coming around soon and I haven't tidied up yet (beside hiding my pregnancy book and notes away in a cupboard. Have got sooo much to do today with work but I'm still happy :-)

Zoey I think there's another Marcher due on the same day too! I wonder if any of us will actually have the baby on this date (as that would be cool!) :-)

theTramp · 31/08/2012 16:39

Lovely news Emus.

StealthToddler · 31/08/2012 16:57

Tiddley and mandasand - re cc from experience my 3 have been much more distressed with cc if we stay in the room and the crying lasts much much longer poss because they can see u and can't understand why you don't pick them up.
We have very reluctantly resorted to a soft version of cc when ds' were about 9 months. I totally disagree with leaving children crying for an hour which is what some do. We have always left for a max of 5 mins then picked up calmed down and put down and each time walk out the room saying night night. With ds3 who is now 17 months and was giving me a max 4 hours sleep a night, the first night he settled after 17 mins (3 rounds of 5 mins) then slept all night. Second night 5 mins. 3rd night straight to sleep. If he wakes in the night we always leave him 5 mins before going to pick up. You do need to check dc are well before trying I.e rule out ear infection etc. and I can tell very easily if dc wake if it is a pain cry or settling back cry. So worth doing though I hated it as I do like to pick up and comfort at first whimper but there comes a point for your own sanity you have to sleep train!
Hope this helps.

tiddleypompom · 31/08/2012 18:17

Ta stealth - good advice. Am going to take DS to docs on Monday as he has been scratching inside his ear a lot in the night. Want to rule out ear infection, as you say. Thanks also for pips advice on teething granules - I am going to google and see where I can buy these magic powders!

Splendid news about baby three and emus; happy days :) What a lovely friend to send flowers too - and for those of us who haven't been sent any:

Thanks

Have been debating whether to feed (weaned) babies food that has been cooked in wine with NCT group. I found the following article really interesting (and convincing) and thought I'd share, in case you were also working on the principle of 'the alcohol burns off'. Not stopping me eating slow cooked stews with wine whilst preg, but I don't feed it to DS.

Each to their own of course - please don't think I am being a judgy-pants, just thought it was interesting!

Hi all, no way I'm going to be able to catch up with you all, so have only read the last few posts. Delighted about all the good scan news! :)

Not much happening here, just finished my week of work (3 day week thankfully!) and am shattered despite a great night's sleep last night in which I was neither waken by DS nor my bladder. Boost! Have my cousin coming up to stay this weekend for his yearly visit and I'm very excited! Scan on Monday!

JoJoBella84 · 31/08/2012 18:29

I'm so hungry, if OH doesn't hurry up and take me for burgers soon I'm going to start chewing on his smelly helicopter scented legs!!
Hand me the nutella and a spoon :)

backwardpossom · 31/08/2012 18:31

Ooh does he work at the helicopters jojo? My cousin's husband is a helicopter engineer at the airport...

tiddleypompom · 31/08/2012 18:33

Helicopter-scented legs??

Hi all,

Brilliant to see all good scan news, its nearly Tues, how many of us on Tues 2 or 3?

Pip, I could have wrote your post about controlled crying and the teetha powders, although didn't know about granules, will be giving those ago, I also got looks for giving extra doses but as you say they are homeopathic

Have really forgotten everything, can't wait for Tues to get my thyroxine dose checked either think I'm running on low, guidelines say dose should be upped when first pg but gp said wait ??

Dd1 has settled perfectly into big school so huge relief!

JoJoBella84 · 31/08/2012 18:45

Yeah he plays with copters!!!

theTramp · 31/08/2012 18:50

Ladies I think I am going to start a clothes thread. I am a bit obsessed at the moment - nothing like having nothing that fits to get you in a "oh what will I wear?" mood.

Just seen this www.celtic-sheepskin.co.uk/ladies/womens-jumpers/slouchy-belted-jumper-dress-web-offer/ and figured if I bought 2 sizes too big it should probably do the job.. with leggings or over jeans. Hmmm....

mandasand · 31/08/2012 18:52

Another great day for scans, yay!

Just had fun telling my mate about the twins. She brought round a really fantastic lemon loaf, too :-) but of course have eaten too much of it and now am having a sugar crash! May have to go and have a little lie down ...

theTramp · 31/08/2012 19:04

Mand - that is lovely. Your friend must be chuffed to pieces for you. And also wondering where the heck you are managing to put all that cake away too.

mandasand · 31/08/2012 19:18

Thanks, Tramp, yes, she was massively chuffed but also a bit 'ew, isn't it weird having things growing inside you?!' which was really funny to think and talk about. I tried to explain how it feels a bit like I've turned into a baby-making machine, how my body's needs overpower my mind's needs a lot (e.g. exhaustion/sleeping) and how I've become really protective of myself and a bit risk-averse. Anyone else having this ... or just me?!

Love the idea for a clothes thread! Lovely, lovely jumper and beautiful colour, but I'd be worried it would make me itch a bit - not so good with wool!

sarahs999 · 31/08/2012 19:20

Alright cake faces - just got home to find my lovely Isabella Oliver dresses and I'm in love! Gorgeous fit, fab colours and they even fit nicely now despite me not yet having a bump. Can see they will be staple wear for the next six months Grin

zoeymlucas · 31/08/2012 19:35

Ahh what a crap day unhelpful staff who I had to give disaplinarys too topped by a huge problem with a big account which means I have just got home and have to be up and out at 5.00am tomorrow so I can be at twickenham stadium by 7.00!!!! It bloody sucks arse I am the finance manager so not sure how I get dragged into stuff like this!!

One of friends is like that amanda and was really concerned when pregnant with DS that I technically have girl and boy bits, lol!

theTramp · 31/08/2012 21:19

Mand - I love wool, don't itch at all, and I have a 'thing' aout snuggly fabrics.

Thread is in topics/pregnancy/maternity clothes

Sarah - hurrah for IO items!!! Which dresses did you buy?

HermioneBoo · 31/08/2012 21:50

Zoey - my best friend is cycling in to Twickenham stadium tomorrow, she has been part of a group of people cycling from Lands End to Twickenham and camping at rugby clubs every night - makes me feel exhausted just thinking about it! Horrid for you having to get up at 5am, hope all the stresses pan out for you.

Today I moved 100 monitors, bought some bargain mat jeans that are soooo comfy and flattering and whacked my head so hard that I nearly fell over, I think that's enough excitement for the day! didn't get my nap after work so absolutely shattered, just wanted to say congrats to all the scanees - it's coming up to 3rd sept really soon now!

theTramp · 31/08/2012 21:53

Herm - ouch! Enjoy that well earned sleep.

Lexiindisguise · 31/08/2012 23:23

Ouch Herm! And boooo zoey, your job sounds so stressful.
I've just been out for dinner with a friend & pigged myself on three courses! Blush got told I 'look pregnant' which was nice as I feel just chubby, to be honest. Hope I feel less rotund in the morning though as I have my first pregnancy Pilates class!
Congrats to all with scans and jumping beans! Sleep well, all!

Emus · 01/09/2012 02:22

Anyone else having trouble sleeping (or staying asleep)? I am currently surviving on around 4-5 hours a night so no wonder I'm tired during the day. Having to get up several times in the night to pee isn't helping!

Feckbox · 01/09/2012 02:36

me, and I'm not even pregnant!
