Oh zoey what a muppet. Hope you get yourself sorted out today and put your mind at rest.

Cookie804 · 29/08/2012 11:18

Sheldon, Precious Little Ones is a good place to look and if you like them on facebook you get a discount code too. Britax seems like a good way to go for the travel system and have good reviews in general including from Which.

pinkpeony4 · 29/08/2012 11:20

Sarah poor you. I would also recommend freshly squeezed orange juice or prune juice. Dried apricots and high fibre breakfasts like weetabix, muesli, porridge helps too. Lactulose is also excellent and harmless. You can buy it in any chemist. Good luck!

Lanny Fantastic news. Congratulations. Grin

Zoey Your bosses reaction is shocking Shock absolutely outrageous... how immature and insensitive of him.

Well I just had a successful trip to H&M. It was deserted which always makes it less stressful. I got really good skinny jeans in black & dark blue, vests, a nice coral top & a great black dress. It's really reasonable. The dress was £14.99!!! www.hm.com/gb/product/03296?article=03296-A#article=03296-B Tramp you can buy online.

Manda I was in Oxford last week and went to the massive Mothercare which is in a retail park (I think there was a Tescos there too if that helps with location). It has a large selection of maternity clothes. They now stock Blooming Marvellous. They also had the really cute Jools Oliver collection of baby clothes. I know it's too early to look but the baby collection especially was adorable

Tramp there is a JoJoMamanbebe maternity shop close to my house and I have always found it a little frumpy. I haven't looked this time though and so it might have changed. I think they do free delivery so worth ordering things if you like them to check?

zoeymlucas · 29/08/2012 11:29

pink I hadnt even thought of H&M for maternity clothes I might have to pop there over the weekend as I got some sskinny jeans from new look but when I put them on at home again I have decided I dont like them on Confused
I found lots of shops only sell maternity clothes online - I must of missed that secction in the pregnancy book that says when pregnant you dont need try clothes on and we all get the exact same size so can just buy anything and it will fit - rant over!!!

FloweryBoots · 29/08/2012 11:32

Pink - I love that dress, it's really nice in the green too. But why oh why is the smallest size 10 - 12. That will swamp me. Don't get me wrong, I'm not supper skinny, but I'm not tall, fairly slim and with a tiny bust anything V neck that's too big is NOT going to work.

mandasand · 29/08/2012 11:37

JoJo I know what you mean about traditional funeral services being sometimes unhelpfully depressing, when everyone's already feeling pretty bad as it is. But glad things lightened up after that at the meal - that's lovely. I like hearing stories of how people have been 'sent off' in untraditional ways, on hillsides, in wicker coffins, with cheerful music etc. And I'm liking your mum's idea too! I guess with older family members there are their peer-group to think of (if still around) who may want things more traditional at the service. Yes, doubtless the timing - old life passing and new life arriving - seemed a bit odd but life sometimes happens like that. My FiL passing last year (compounded by some health worries with my DM) definitely had a lot to do with our TTC timing - we're not getting any younger, want DPs around as much as poss, etc.

Pink Thanks for Oxford Mothercare tip! That's precisely the one I have in mind. BRILLIANT! It wasn't the H&M in Oxford by any chance too?

Sarah my instinct is not to push too much as you don't want piles! If it doesn't want to come out, it doesn't want to come out! Okay, so here's what probably sounds like a VERY odd suggestion but I read it somewhere and it sometimes works for me. If it's just not happening on the loo, really lightly stroke your lower back and bum with your fingers. You might have to do it for a bit. It's generally relaxing and it can work to relax your bowels too. As I say, it's worked for me in the past but it takes a bit of time and getting beyond the WTF am I doing aspect?! There's also prune juice. Oh and dates give me the proper runs if I have more than about four!

Zoey what a knob!!! (Your boss, of course, not you!)

pinkpeony4 · 29/08/2012 11:40

Manda sadly not, it was one near my house in London. They may sell it in Oxford though? Debenhams has a small maternity collection and there is one in Oxford isn't there? You can buy H&M online though.

scubastevie · 29/08/2012 11:41

Zoey that's awful, how horrible for you :( some people can be so bloody insensitive. I've been lucky that work have been really good about the pg and me being so sick.

Congratulations Lanny that's great news.

Over the last few days I've had really itchy norks, which I assume is them growing (I've not been great at moisturising as I've been so ill). Then two days ago, just right of my right nipple some broken blood vessels came up (almost like a love bite). Then yesterday I noticed I had a sort of lump in my armpit, but almost like a raised tendon or something that is sore to touch. Googling it these seem common in pg, albeit usually closer to the end, not 12 weeks!).
Has anyone else got/had anything like this? Do you think I should bother the gp with it?

Also loving the clothes chat, thanks tramp got lots of ideas for accessorising dresses now, think I will have to do the same of putting everything else away and filling up the wardrobe anew. Fx scan is ok and will tackle this if so.

Will also be keen to know the answer to how those of you approached nub chat with sonographer. Mwife said they can be a bit...er, different.

Sheldonella · 29/08/2012 11:55

Its 41% discount at Isabella Oliver today. I just cracked and ordered a wrap dress Blush

sarahs999 · 29/08/2012 12:03

41% discount on ebverything? I was looking at their sale this morning but then decided to keep ebaying

sarahs999 · 29/08/2012 12:15

Oooh, it is 41% off everything. Bloody hell. I predict a run on wrap dresses... so annoying - can't order from my desk at work as it's so bloody obvious and I haven't 'come out' yet, but worried they'll all be gone by the time I get home! Might have to try and do it on my mobile.

mandasand · 29/08/2012 12:24

Oh annoying - I tried to buy an Is. Oliver dress that's already reduced to £37.50 (half price) and I added the SPREE41 code but no further discount came off! I'm giving up. I like the dress, but it's not that speciala nd not worth buying without trying on. Will try to see what local Mothercare and H&M have first...

sarahs999 · 29/08/2012 12:26

BTW thanks for all the constipation tips. Might try the flaxseed and a few prunes. THe thing is that I'm eating a very veg and fruit heavy diet already so it shouldn't be a problem. I've only ever had it this bad once before adn that was after my caesarean when I was taking piles of codeine.

BTW, I managed to order not one but TWO wrap dresses on my phone. I am very greedy :)

theTramp · 29/08/2012 12:34

41% off - that's it I am buying the stripey dress. HURRAH!

Zoey - what a charmer. I wish there was a magic wand that would make idiot comments disappear but no. It annoys the hell out of me that with all the PC in the world women still regularly have to cope with outright prejudice and everyone thinks its fine. Grr.

Sarah - liquorice! Not loads, but trust me, eat yourself a panda liquorice stick and you'll have no problems. Then go with the other advice to ensure it doesn't come back.

H&M - I will go, eventually, just the crowds of people put me off

pinky - I went to very small jojomama store in Dulwich & I thought some of the stuff was a ok.

sarahs999 · 29/08/2012 12:35

scubastevie I[ve got the sore armpits - both of them. I assumed it was a glad thing. If it had been one I'd have got all paranoid about breast cancer but as it's both I just assume it's all milk related. No reason not to talk toyour GP though, you might be able to get something for the itching.

theTramp · 29/08/2012 12:44

One stripey red & black dress ordered - wahoo!

Lexiindisguise · 29/08/2012 12:51

I'm quite tempted by the jeans on IO at that price!

Sheldonella · 29/08/2012 12:55

Hmm, wish I'd thought more about what I ordered now, I just panic ordered the wrap dress. Oh well, it is lovely :)

StealthToddler · 29/08/2012 13:20

Hi All
long time no post but I was waiting to have my early scan as I didn't want to tempt fate. Lovely hear everyones news.
Had a private early scan on Friday and all fine - was a bit worried as at about 11 weeks I have wound up in hospital with severe bleeding in both of my last pregnancies (though turned out all right!). Am now 11 weeks with DC4 and all looked good. I have 3 DS and the sonographer said she thought it possible it could be a girl as its bits were pointing down rather than up - I didn't think it would be even vaguely possible at this point so I am still assuming it is another boy!!
I don't have my booking appt till monday (not sure if they are just forgetting about me a bit given I am on number 4) and then have my proper hospital scan on thursday next week. Am still attempting to hide it at work, but I think it is blindingly obvious but as my boss is away I can't really say anything to the rest of the team as it will affect them quite a bit me going on leave again.

Em2010 are you from Harrogate? I saw you posted you were in Harlow Carr and Betty's? I am originally from Knaresborough and just spend 9 days up there with my 3 boys staying with my Dad, and spent the time revisiting Harlow Carr, Harewood, Home Farm, Valley Gardens.... such a lovely area. Am in London now but still miss Yorkshire!

Isabella Oliver - has been fab for stretchy tees and lovely dresses, but I find their trousers a rubbish fit. I really like Seraphine for maternity trousers and it is also good for work clothes for office jobs.

Norks - am in the small camp too - never more than a 34C even when BF!!! and smaller than before DS1 - sorry to disappoint you ladies who might think you will be left with more ample assets after children!!

Can also recommend Maxi Cosi - has been fab - ours will be used for the 4th time, and we have gone to Maxi Cosi Tobi for the next stage. We had a Bugaboo which is compatible, though with DS2 and DS3 I used a sling loads, and then the Maclaren has become our staple once toddlers.

Sarahs99 I can recommend eating a shed load of strawberries for constipation.

Moses baskets - DS1 was in it of 6 weeks before growign out of it - I had to practically shoe horn him into it! DS2 and DS3 I co-slept with, it was much easier! and I also did babywearing in the soft sling, so they would sleep on me duringi the day whilst I just got on with whatever!

sarahs999 · 29/08/2012 13:34

I can't wear the isabella oliver trousers either - I'm 5ft 3 and in my pregnancy with DS I excitedly ordered the black work trousers. When they arrived they were about 12 inches too long and really unflattering around the bum and belly. They so weren't made for a shortarse pear!

theTramp · 29/08/2012 13:41

Well at a 30.5 inside leg the IO jeans are too short for me - curses! I need at least a 32" and pref a 33". H&M it is.

Stealth - so pleased all is going well for you.

I have one pair of over knee long flat leather boots and a pair of lace up hugely comfy timberland boots - they will be my winter staples, with a pair of black brogue flats for the rest of the time. So skirts and skinnies for me when I do go shopping.

For now though, the stripey dress is on order and assuming all well at scan I will persuade MrM that I should be treated with a couple of items in Belfast. But I think I'll go shopping with his Mum cause he's the worlds worst shopper.

Sheldonella · 29/08/2012 14:00

Hi StealthToddler, glad you had a reassuring scan. I hope my sonographer gives me some clue as to gender, I'm so impatient.
Is anyone else rhesus negative? With my last pg I got send a sticker through the post to put on my maternity notes and a letter with info about anti-d. I haven't had anything this time, should I be worried?

pinkpeony4 · 29/08/2012 14:06

Stealth Congrats on your scan. Did you go to the Fetal Medicine Centre? I had a scan there last Friday and was really disappointed because they rushed through it and didn't show us half the things they did with ds3. I complained and they are re-scanning me for free on Friday. If it was there that you went to and they said girl then everyone I know who has been there has had the correct prediction! Smile Like you though, I can't imagine this baby (dc4) being anything other than another boy!!

Tramp I usually buy 32 or 34" jeans and the H&M ones are a great length, slightly too long but perfect for skinnies and I can wear them with ballet pumps.

IO trousers are VERY long. I bought some black stretchy ones with ds1 and had to have about 5 inches removed by the dry cleaners!!

Emus · 29/08/2012 14:10

I'm Rhesus Negative Sheldonella although they don't know it yet as I've not had any blood tests yet!

Rainbowbabyhope · 29/08/2012 14:20

So envious of you ladies already making plans for your LOs and even thinking about prams and baby things. After last time I am doing everything I can to protect myself from the heartbreak of coming home empty handed from hospital to a house all ready for a baby. I will not be planning, preparing or buying a single thing for this LO until it is alive in my arms - not a stitch of clothing, a cot or anything. It will just have to be wrapped in a blanket and sleep next to me for the first few weeks until I can believe its here to stay! Also I think I am going to avoid buying official maternity clothes and stick to normal clothes in larger sizes.
