Well done loopy i bought the post birth bubbles yesterday and they are now chilling in the fridge waiting to toast the new arrival Grin
I can't wait to be able to get off the bed without military planning first. I lie there for ages thinking up the best way to get up Blush

Newton that sounds very much like me on Thursday through Friday. I have now decided it was probably positioning as things feel better now and I think the wee one is no longer back to back. Hope you get some rest today x

Bear get back in line!! Grin

Thumb wee baby Boo's movements can be really really painful now. Especially in an evening. I sometimes wish it would just stop. But I know that if it did then I would worry it was too quiet!

Bear1984 · 24/09/2012 12:47

Just been GP. She had 4 student midwives with her, 3 of them guys, who all got to feel my bump contracting lol. Baby is fully engaged and I've been told to go have a check up at hospital so they can examine me properly to see what's going on. Eek! Wish I had taken a pic of DP's face when GP confirmed they were proper contractions too. She said I'll probably be sent home later anyway from what she can tell til they get worse but we'll see. Wish me luck!

GizzyBoo · 24/09/2012 13:04

Good luck Bear xx

elvislives2012 · 24/09/2012 13:07

Good luck bear !!!
I'm looking forward to being able to get up without huffing and puffing. I can't wait!! However, I am really going to miss being pregnant. I've loved the movement, even the painful ones, and dreading having to share my baby with other people!!!
We've been umming and ahhing about the visitor issue and think we won't allow any unannounced visitors in, except for immediate family. No idea how easy this will be though!

RunningOutOfIdeas · 24/09/2012 13:54

Good luck Bear. Congratulations Pinpan. Newton I hope some thing happens for you soon.

MissPolly I think Woolite will be fine. If you want to make sure it is all rinsed out, add a little white vinegar to the rinse water, then do a further rinse with fabric conditioner if you want.

From reading posts over the last few days it looks as if every one is trying every remedy going to get these babies evicted. I am in the opposite camp - I do not want this baby to appear before my elcs date. No hot baths, curries, pineapple etc for me.

I had a physio appointment this morning. She confirmed that I have spd and said it is related to the back problems I had last year. My sacro-iliac joint is not stable which is putting uneven pressure on my pelvis. I am now wearing a support belt to hold it all together. The physio also gave me the largest piece of tubigrip I have ever seen. It goes from the top of my bump to my thighs, almost like an NHS version of Spanx, only way less flattering.

Bear1984 · 24/09/2012 15:35

Hi all, just an update. I'm home now. I'm 2cm dilated, contracting every 5 minutes. Need to go in once I'm every 3-4 minutes or my waters have gone. She said as its been 10 years since I had DD, it's almost as if I'm having my first again so the first stage will be slower than I expected so now just waiting again. Fingers crossed wont be too long. But they were really busy in there. I had to wait for a bed for about 20 mins!

GizzyBoo · 24/09/2012 15:43

Bear don't say that....its almost 10 years since my last too! Shock
How are the contractions? I think I have forgotten what they feel like now too.

Hope it happens nice and quickly for you. Smile

Bear1984 · 24/09/2012 15:58

Lol gizzy. Some are worse than others. My back is killing me now. She did say that once labour is in full swig, it should be quick though. It's just waiting to get the contractions stronger. There's a part of me that is still in denial and wondering whether it'll just stop like it did last time I was in hospital, although my cervix wasn't doing anything then.

DP wants to call his dad but we know his dad would be here in a heartbeat which I'm trying to avoid. I just want peace and quiet and not have to feel I have to bloody host whilst I'm like this!

Thumbwitch · 24/09/2012 16:12

Gizzy, I know exactly what you mean re. the movements - painful though they can be, I worry when there aren't any and poke the bump to make it move!

Bear - exciting for you too now! Woohoo - hope it all goes well. :)

I'm seeing my obgyn tomorrow to see where Wriggler is now - I'm pretty certain still transverse - and then on Weds I get stuck with pins and have herbal cigars lit close to my toes (moxibustion) to persuade the Wriggler into the correct orientation.

Nearly 5y since my last labour - don't know how much difference that will make except that I'm a lot less fit this time around.

Things I won't miss about being pg:
Inability to turn over in bed - check
Buggering acid reflux
Constipation
Not being able to take painkillers for migraine
Having to stand still for about 30secs every time I get up to allow my pelvic girdle to stabilise before I try and take a step
near-constant pain while walking (SPD)
Stabbing myself daily with Clexane
Having troubles putting shoes on

Things I might miss:
ummm
.
.
nope, can't think of one. Blush

CaptainHetty · 24/09/2012 16:17

Good luck, Bear. Slightly envious your contractions are doing something when I've been having them since Saturday night and getting nowhere :o

Still here, still uncomfortable, and still having sporadic contractions. Back at the hospital tomorrow (really won't miss these weekly visits, they're rather awkward with three other kids to consider!) so hopefully will find out what's what and if anything can be done to get things moving. Not going to get my hopes up, I'll be 39+1 so unless there's a huge reason for it I'm pretty convinced they'll just leave me to get on with it til madam decides to get a move on.

LoopyLa · 24/09/2012 16:30

Oooh GOOD LUCK Bear!!!

GizzyBoo · 24/09/2012 17:23

You will get there hetty. The wee one is just taking its time.
Hope you are able to get some rest in the mean time. These last few weeks of niggles are hard eh?

I have a date to be flown off island if wee baby boo goes overdue. I have until the 13th Oct when I will be 40+8. I don't want to go away Sad

Bear1984 · 24/09/2012 19:57

Me again. Oh dear what a day lol. Been back in hospital as contractions were 2 mins apart, really painful and lasting for over a minute. Get to the ward, they slowed right down and weren't as painful as before. I was checked over and was told I'm still 2cm, I'm not in labour, but baby's head is low and they did a sweep. Back home now, getting painful contractions again but staying put for now. Bleeding a lot and lots of back pain after the examination. Had a bit of a cry when I got home as its gotten a bit too much for me and I was a bit dubious about things earlier anyway so glad I didn't get too carried away thinking this is it. So now just back to waiting :(

newtonupontheheath · 24/09/2012 20:19

Oh bear ((hugs)) That is so bloody frustrating! No wonder you had a cry... Did you feel better afterwards?

Hopefully it won't be too much longer... Sounds like things are plodding along.

I've had nothing today. A fair amount of rest (yawn...I'd rather be contracting!!) but nowt exciting!

On the plus side... The pram-that-won't-ever-arrive... It won't arrive in time BUT we are picking up the shops display model on Thursday, so I will have A plan... But it's not plan A iyswim. I'm slightly happier than I have been. Smile

Bear1984 · 24/09/2012 20:31

newton I did thanks. Just really sore now after all the prodding and examining and stuff. Still contracting away but may try and sleep in a bit as I feel knackered. Been a long day! But glad to hear you've got a pram sorted! Least that's something :)

Bear1984 · 24/09/2012 21:01

Ooo just had my show. MW did say I possibly could so glad I have so its at least a sign in the right direction but I know I could still be waiting a while

WeeSooty · 24/09/2012 22:15

Hello everyone!

So sorry for not being about, nightmare not having decent internet! Hopefully should get new router thing this week and I?ll be back online!

Will try to catch up!! Have read the thread with increasing speed at the thought of all possible babies!!

Fluffy I have had the flu jab last year, got it through work, and I did find that I didn?t get ill at all last year whereas the year before I picked up every bug going.. I don?t know if it was just due to better vitamins though! I will probably take the flu jag again this year if offered it, I felt fine after it last year, just my arm went really red and hot! Hmm

KPT Hope your induction is going well!!!

Shell I have the raspberry leaf tablets, 400mg and I?m taking 2-3 a day.. will see if it helps anything along!

Elvis Loving the missing contractions and sneezing the baby out, that?s my plan also! Grin

Hetty How are you getting on?? Desperate to know if there are any other babies!!

Newton The bump/car wash comment had me in giggles! Brilliant! Grin

Gizzy what hospital do you come to if you are overdue? That?s a bit rubbish they make you leave!

Bear sending you hugs, (why are they unmumsnetty??) you must be so frustrated!

Waving at everyone else and passing round the milky buttons to help with heartburn!

Well after a minor panic (those on facebook will get a laugh) I have realised that one boob Hmm is leaking some colostrum? got a fright but ok with it now? pregnancy does kinda gross me out! Lol

My new symptom is itchiness. Constant effing itchiness. All the time. Everywhere. Am sitting covered in calamine lotion and trying so hard to not itch!!

I have to say I will not miss much about being pregnant, I cannot wait to have some pate, sleep on my tummy, wear decent clothes, walk without feeling like my pelvis is shattering? The list is endless! Currently the thing I?m looking forward to the most is being able to check the baby is physically ok rather than panicking if it doesn?t move for a little while! Blush

Sending good labour vibes to everyone who is nearly there!!!

MakeTeaNotWar · 24/09/2012 22:30

Things are hotting up Bear good luck!

sooty I'd mention the itchiness to midwife as it can be a symptom of cholestasis. Don't mean to scaremonger sorry, but if it is super intense?

WeeSooty · 24/09/2012 22:37

Thanks maketea Smile I have midwife on Thursday so will mention then. I did google the itchyness (what would we do without google?!) think the other symptoms to watch are dark pee and yellowy skin and I don't have either but will be keeping it in mind. I think my problem is scratching making it worse! Need to get grown up scratch mitts!!

goodsenseofdirection · 24/09/2012 23:05

Good luck bear hope you can either get some rest or things start moving along. Hope you are ok after hospital ordeal. Hugs from me too.

sooty itchiness doesn't sound good - do get it checked out just in case!

Hope the rest of you are all ok, and managing to distract yourselves from
Impatiently waiting!

running I'm in the same boat as you, hoping the baby won't make an appearance for a while yet!

Got home to find our roof was leaking Sad Wet mattress, fortunately now dry after putting it on the radiator. This is the fourth or fifth leak (roof, toilets and now roof again) since I've been pregnant, no more please!!! This one means sorting out proper roof work with the freeholder who doesn't want to spend money on fixing anything properly Angry The internal work is quite enough to deal with so this felt like the last straw earlier... I can't wait to finish work on thurs...

Bear1984 · 25/09/2012 00:00

Just a quick update. I went to sleep for two hours and now everything has stopped. I can feel baby kicking away happily but all cramping etc has stopped. Feeling very deflated. Feels like today was all for nothing and I've been cheated in some ways! May start up again if I sit up though so who knows as MW did say lying down will slow it down but I really had to sleep. So might chuck a film on and see but I'm not hopeful.

Which also makes me wonder what to do this weekend as we're suppose to go to Nottingham (2 hours drive) for a wedding but now this has happened, I feel a bit dubious about it. But DD is a bridesmaid so don't want to let her or the couple down. Hmm...

Thumbwitch · 25/09/2012 02:39

Bear, don't do it. If you don't go, nothing may happen - but if you do go, it will definitely kick off! Is there someone else who can take your DD to the wedding?

Goodsense - are you in a rented property? That's shockingly lax of the landlord if you are.

Sooty - you could try rubbing some nice body butter/oil into your skin, it might just be dry but definitely mention it in case of cholestasis.

Well, I'm just back from the obgyn. Flipping wriggly baby and flipping internal swimming pool = unstable lie and I'm now booked for induction on 8th October at 39+1. Or rather - that's when I have to go into hospital to start the process, it's a bit different here - apparently they'll do all sorts of prelims before the actual induction on the Weds. Arse. Mind you, he wanted to do it next week but I was a bit panicky about that and he could see it - so we managed to push it out to the following week, so long as I don't start contractions or a show or leaking or anything that could signify the start of labour (dangerous with unstable lie).

Still going to the acupuncturist tomorrow - FX that achieves something - baby was actually head down at the start of today's scan but we celebrated too soon as it moved within a couple of minutes :( and I'm now on 30% fluid, so even more space for it to swim around in Shock

But apart from that there is nothing else of concern - I'm (relatively) fit and healthy, only other risk factor is the Clexane/FVLeiden thingy - so he's not too bothered about letting it ride for a bit longer. But only a bit.

Bear1984 · 25/09/2012 03:43

I'd prefer not to go as I'd be too worried but I'm worried about DD. it's her aunt's wedding but she doesn't get on well with her dad (my ex) and I'd be worried noones looking after her properly cos they're too busy drinking/celebrating.

Winnie81 · 25/09/2012 04:20

Morning, for those of you not on fb

We are proud parents to a beautiful baby girl, born v quickly at 00.15 weighing 6lb 4oz. No name confirmed yet, we are in hospital but hope to be home later this pm!! GrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrin

CaptainHetty · 25/09/2012 04:24

Oh, hello again insomnia. So nice to see you Hmm

Sorry to hear yours stopped too, bear. It's mega frustrating but fingers crossed it starts again soon for you. Another bootiful baby pic on the Facebook group overnight I see! I'm pants at remembering who is who on here though.

Thumb, sorry to hear baby still isn't settling head down. Must be very frustrating for you, do you know how likely he/she is to move head down when labour starts?

Sooty if the itching is intense definitely get it looked at, think that's why KPT (could possibly have those letters the wrong way round but sure its her) was induced on Sunday? Hopefully we'll hear from her soon!

I'm hungry, trying to resist getting up and making tea because if I do I'll never get back to sleep.
