Catbag SPD and PGP is basically the pain caused by the separation of the pelvis, one for pain at the front, one for pain at the back (but my mind has gone blank as to which one is which!!). It's from where the ligaments are relaxed to allow the baby to pass through the birth canal and can be "over-stretched" or pull on other ligaments etc causing inflammation and pain.

ValiumQueen · 01/08/2012 21:38

SPD is PGP. Pelvic girdle pain. The hormones make everything relax, including the bits that hold the pelvis in place, as the baby needs to go through. Unfortunately that relaxing makes you feel like you have been kicked very hard between the legs. There can be pain elsewhere in the pelvis and legs too. Often there is a maximum distance you can open your legs, so this can affect labour, especially with an epidural, as the legs could be extended too far and more damage caused. Measurements should be taken and kept in notes in case. Usually pain goes when baby is born, but it can linger. Sometimes crutches or wheelchair is needed.

I had PGP with DD2. As yet none with this one, but I weigh a lot less and have finished work sooner. It is not necessarily weight related, but being overweight will not help.

ValiumQueen · 01/08/2012 21:39

X-post chunky, who said it better Grin

ValiumQueen · 01/08/2012 21:42

Just checked chunky. They are the same, but PGP is the more up to date name.

Chunkychicken · 01/08/2012 21:45

I thought you said it perfectly Valium & thanks for clarifying - the whole symphis pubic dysfunction or whatever SPD stands for isn't a very reassuring name is it??!! :)

ValiumQueen · 01/08/2012 21:49

Not very user friendly either. I couldn't spell it! Most folk could hazard a guess what pelvic girdle pain means. Where is detective when you need her?

ValiumQueen · 01/08/2012 21:50

evil you are a girl after my own heart with your bargains. What bottles have you got?

izzybizzybuzzybees · 01/08/2012 21:53

bras are here including reviews but best place to buy is this website and if you use code MM15 at checkout you get 10% off

catbag SPD is symphysis public dysfunction, sometimes called pelvic girdle pain. In simple terms it means the joint at front of pelvis is relaxed due to hormones and is separating causing pain at pubic bone, groin and hips and even back :(

Evilwater · 01/08/2012 21:56

I have, the avent ones. The lady two doors up dropped of a load of stuff for £30. I also have the manual breast pump and the mirco steriziler for them too.

Now if my tumble dryer would dry a load in a good time! the baby load is still wet and I started it at 1930. This is why washable nappies are awful idea in our house.

Evil.

Evilwater · 01/08/2012 21:58

The SPD sounds awful, I hope you that are suffering are getting the treatment you need.

I am being plauged with acne so badly again. My whole chin is covered in spots and scars, it just looks a mess, not happy!

Sorry to hear your news stuntnun so rubbish. Hopefully you can wipe the floor with them!

So when they annouced the changes of jobs at my work they also said there would be a supervisor role going in the new hub. I was told by my boss that I would be one of the people he would put forward for it. We were also told to let him know if any of us wee interested. So I did just that and my boss siad he's let me know when there was a job description and what to do next. Well it got posted on our intranet after I was finished for the day on thursday. I spent most of fri in meetings with my boss so didn't see it, off Monday and found it on Tuesday as I was leaving work at 10pm.... argh cue all morning rush of getting my application sorted to hand in for the deadline TODAY.. thanks for informing me boss!!

I sent it at 3pm and then went off for a docs appoinment at 4, wasn't back till 5.35 to find an email saying thye couldn't open my CV ( even though I havd no problems opening it on my office computer. I resent it as a PDF but the person had gone home by then.
I do hope they don't say I missed the deadline because of that!

mrswee · 01/08/2012 22:11

On antibiotics again too... just in case I do have a urine indection... results wouldn't be back till tuesday so treating just in case. I have been getting a bit of soreness again but not sure if it's indigestion or stretching or indeed an infection

applepieinthesky · 01/08/2012 22:21

mrswee I'm covered in acne as well and it's by far the worst pregnancy symptom for me. Makes me feel so self conscious.

So sorry about your news stuntnun Do not let them get away with treating you like that. You sound like you have a good case.

I had a woman who may cover me when I'm on mat leave shadow me at work today. Although I had told myself what goes on when I'm not there isn't my problem I feel oddly relieved that they may have found someone. It feels like a weight off my shoulders.

kissyfur · 01/08/2012 22:23

stuntnun that is truly shocking they they think they can get away with treating you like that. I hope you wipe the floor with them! Good luck with it all

izzy that sounds awful you poor thing, hope it improves soon

Just spent 2 hours at walk in centre with DD as she's still poorly and seems to be getting worse, was complaining of tummy ache and saying it hurts when she wees today bless her. Got her all checked out and no sign of UTI but she does have inflamed ear drums so they have given her antibiotics, fingers crossed she improves soon!

kissyfur · 01/08/2012 22:24

Hope you feel better soon mrswee

tomatoplantproject · 01/08/2012 22:28

stuntnun you're being treated horrifically. Suggest you make sure you keep a diary of what has happened when and what was said. There are strict regs around the decision being fair and also process. Acas have the details on their website. It sounds like you have plenty of evidence about strong past performance and tbh the fact that you are pregnant should be making you untouchable cos the potential penalties they have to pay + reputational risk should be enough to put them off. If I were you I would get my ducks in a row and start fighting. If you want any help pm me and I can look at some bits over the weekend for you.

Evilwater · 01/08/2012 22:29

I hope you get better mrs wee.

I'm off to bed and the same damn load that I put in the dryer at 730 is still not dry!
Nite all.
Evil

horseylady · 01/08/2012 23:01

Hehehe lying in bed and baby has properly been kicking up into my ribs with his separate little legs then punching with his arms lower down!! In the bath I was trying to figure out how he was lying as he seemed to curled up. No i stretch out, he stretches out!!

MissMummy1 · 01/08/2012 23:07

Crap news stunt. I'd take them to the cleaners for it though. From what you've said they don't have a leg to stand on!

Just about survived moving. Our garage is full of boxes and we have just realised we don't have a tv (sold our old one when we moved into our apartment as it came with one) but otherwise love the new house! DH worked himself to the bone and is absolutely knackered, bless him. Finally off to bed to catch some zs before we go back to work tomorrow. Night all! X

StuntNun · 02/08/2012 05:13

Thanks for that link Izzy I have placed an order for a couple of those bras - you should be getting commission. I hope you get on okay with your crutches, are the handles well padded? Can you walk at all without them or do you need them all the time? I just remember the last time I was on crutches I couldn't carry a cup of tea anywhere so I had to stand at the kettle drinking it! I'm sure there were more inconveniences than that (like stairs!) but that's what sticks in my memory.

Tomato and everyone else that commented on the redundancy, I want to thank you for the support. I'm feeling a bit confused about the whole thing, I can't really understand why it has worked out this way. I came out of yesterday's interview really confident that I had answered the questions well and made a good impression, only to be told that I hadn't 'met the pass mark' for the interview so they couldn't offer me a position. I have applied for three available positions within the company and been turned down for all three. One of them was a stretch in that it was a more senior position than I am currently in but the other two I am well qualified for. In each of these three positions there is now currently a vacancy because I didn't meet this pass mark. I thought that in the case of redundancy the company had to offer you reasonable alternatives. If they were to give me redundancy pay and the enhanced maternity pay I would just take the money and run but I doubt they'll be so reasonable.

Iheartpasties · 02/08/2012 06:31

So sorry to read about redundencies, such a worrying time I'm sure.

My friend is dropping over the cot tonight, I got it from her second hand!

rowingdowntheriver · 02/08/2012 07:23

Sorry to hear about your redundancy stuntnun, it sounds like you are being treated really badly by the company. I hope you end up very good payout at the end at least.

My friend was in a similar position to you - 20 or so weeks pregnant, she got promoted, a communication went round to the whole company saying what a great job she was doing and then about two weeks later she was put at risk. She had a month or so to find another role but it was never going to happen.

Luckily one of her good friends is an employment lawyer and was able to help her put a case together which helped her argue for an ok redundancy payment.

Her friend did say that whilst pregnant you don't have any more rights than anyone else (although you do when you go on maternity leave) but they do have to be v v careful that they have selected you for the right reasons and not because you are pregnant.

Issy, sorry to hear about you needing crutches. Are you likely to need them for the rest of the pregnancy or is there a chance that the physio will help improve the PGP?

DesperateHousewife21 · 02/08/2012 07:26

I think we've settle on a name. I've got a list of about 7 names but dh and I like our original choice the best so she now has a name but it's being kept under wraps til she's arrived!

ValiumQueen · 02/08/2012 08:14

Second night without leaks with Little Lamb nappies. Very pleased mummy and toddler. Purple last night. I will get some microfiber ones for daytime when they are next on offer. Not as absorbent, but dry in a flash apparently. Inner nappy was almost soaked, but the wraps contained everything.

Chunkychicken · 02/08/2012 09:08

It turns out a couple of the Mums on a FB group I'm in are either using reusables or selling their old ones. I'm going to see one about the ones she's using and have asked the other to email me details about her Totsbots ones - which I think are reasonable ones to get, as they are, I assume, not all-in-ones from the Nappy Lady website (bit worried they'd take forever to dry). So I may be asking for more of your sage advice yet Valium :)
