Any time Grin Being immobile means I have plenty of time to read reviews.

horseylady · 02/08/2012 09:27

I'm off to the drs at 11. Can't stop bloody coughing. Been awake since 4 just to calm it. Happens in fits and makes me sick :( shame as I'm actually feeling better! Apart from the scary coughing :(

27 weeks today!!

applepieinthesky · 02/08/2012 10:51

Is everyone else finding the time is flying by now? Can't believe my scan was five weeks ago now and only 15 weeks until I meet him. Now I've got everything I need I'm turning my attentions to childbirth. Eeek!

apple I am finding every second is dragging because I am so bored. I wish I could go out. DH has taken DD1 out bowling and then to Burger King which has soft play. Jealous. I am gonna wash my hair. Woo Hoo!

mrswee · 02/08/2012 11:07

God valium I have total sympathy for you, it's all coming back to me how immobile I was the last time with terrible PGP/SPD. I'm ok so far, the pain was bad but the boredum was much worse!!!

applepieinthesky · 02/08/2012 11:20

Shame we haven't even got nice weather so you can sit in the garden with a book valium Luckily my hip pain has now eased. It must have been the position baby was in, he seems to like it really low down now and seems to sit right above my bladder. When I need the toilet I feel like I'm literally going to burst.

izzybizzybuzzybees · 02/08/2012 11:45

stunt that's sounds like a nightmare. I don't have any words of wisdom I'm afraid but maybe the employment section could help with advice?

With the PGP I don't need crutches all the time, I can walk without them albeit in a lot of pain. She has suggested I use them on my bad days as they teak a lot of weight of the pelvis and said even in good days they might be useful to reduce severity of the bad days! I'm still working just now and there is no way in can work on crutches but as I am part time I am hoping to manage until I stop, I'm. It sure how realistic this is tho! I Work on call which is a 16.5 hr shift within the hospital, I was on call on tues night which is probably why I am struggling so much yesterday and today. I only have two of these left to do though. It's likely to get worse the bigger bump gets I think although I never suffered with it in my last pregnancy. TBH I expected my back to give me more problems as I was off work earlier in the year due to a suspected slipped disc!

capedcrusader25 · 02/08/2012 11:52

Oh valium its so rubbish breaking anything I couldn't imagine how frustrating it would be to be pregnant too! Not fair. horsey I hope the doc gives u something more worthwhile than the stupid rubbish cough suppressant medicine he gave me!
Its quite sunny here, had breakfast outside before the midwife - 25 weeks today :o Everything is good so far, bump measuring 25cm which she said is spot on. I've been having Braxton Hicks apparently but didn't realise that's what they were so I feel better about that!

ValiumQueen · 02/08/2012 11:55

I am concerned that the PGP will kick in just as my foot heals. At least my foot will get better long before delivery, and it is much less painful now, just blooming awkward.

Sometimes it feels as if baby's head is between my legs when I am walking or sitting down, and when he is on my bladder, gosh!

DD 1 felt him kick for the first time yesterday, and has felt him kick a few times today. She goes up to my tum and says 'I love you' and he seems to respond to her voice. She is a noisy little rascal, so no doubt he recognises her voice well, and it probably wakes him up! He also kicks DD2 if she has her head resting near near my tum, and she just glares at my belly, and then at me.

applepieinthesky · 02/08/2012 12:14

That's so sweet valium Smile

Lilliana · 02/08/2012 12:18

mrswee good luck with the application - when do you find out if you have an interview?

Glad the move went ok Missmummy and hope you are all settled in soon.

Horsey hope they give you something good. I had a month of waking myself (and DH) up by coughing all night but what they gave me was rubbish (DH says they give something similar to the cows!!)

Thinking of getting a ball as getting a bit uncomfortable - does it need to be a birthing ball or will a gym ball do? Been looking on ebay and they also do different sizes, what size do you need?

NervousAt20 · 02/08/2012 12:22

Aw stuntnun sorry to read your news! I hope today goes well for you x

izzy that sounds very painful, hope the crutches help! And thanks for the bra link going to order one now Smile

horsey hope the docs give you something that helps!

Seems like we have alot of people who are having a crap time or feeling crap Sad hope everyone feels better soon

NervousAt20 · 02/08/2012 12:24

lillana I've had a quick google last week on balls and the different sizes are dependent on height from what I can gather, I'm only 5.2 so would need a 65cm one but not sure about the next size, hope that's helped a bit Smile

StuntNun · 02/08/2012 12:26

Thanks Izzy I do have a thread in the employment section www.mumsnet.com/Talk/employment_issues/1531406-Is-my-compulsory-redundancy-actually-unfair-dismissal but I have spoken to the Labour Relations Agency and there doesn't seem to be much I can do until they have made me redundant at which point I can request an industrial tribunal. I think at this point my best hope would be for an out-of-court settlement but I don't want to be having to speak to lawyers at this time. I thought I would just be winding down until my maternity leave then having a few weeks with the boys before the baby is born. Instead it looks like a load of hassle is coming my way.

My DS1 is very distressed about it all (he has ADHD) and has been behaving very badly and soiling himself. I thought I was going to have to take him to the childminder in his pyjamas today, a bit much at age 9.

I'm trying to think of the positives but I think being treated so badly after so may years with the company just eclipses everything else at the moment.

On the other hand the baby just did a huge kick. It was like that scene in the restaurant in Alien.

Sorry for the rant. Hopefully normal service will resume shortly.

Mrswee snap - I have also been put on antibiotics incase I have a water infection. No symptoms, by at my 25 week doctor check they found protein and the other thing (i can't remember what else they test for) in my urine sample so its been sent off to the lab for further testing. I hate taking antibiotics too - but guess its better to be safe then sorry
I also feel like I might be getting SPD. Lots of aching this week - so feeling a bit sorry for myself.
Really sorry to hear about the redundancy situations. That doesn't sound fun. I hope you can wipe the floor with them!

ValiumQueen · 02/08/2012 12:37

lillianna any old gym ball will do IMO. Likely to be cheaper too. I would go for bigger, but I guess it depends on how tall you are.

stunt you are entitled to rant and feel hard done by. Did they advise when you could start acting on this, fighting back? Perhaps there will be a period when you know nothing will happen, or a time by which you can act at the latest, so you can put it in a little box so to speak, concentrate on your boys and bellydweller, then come back to it? This stress will not be doing any of you any good, just wondering how to alleviate it a bit?

DesperateHousewife21 · 02/08/2012 12:42

I've been really busy recently so time seems to go fast but I'm waiting for my next scan now which is in 2 and a half weeks and that's dragging by!

ValiumQueen · 02/08/2012 12:43

evil is your dryer working properly? That seems an awful long time to dry itty baby clothes. Is your washer spinning properly? Would it be worth giving it another spin before drying?

NervousAt20 · 02/08/2012 13:16

Just having a nose at bedding for baby's room, just wondering what you ladies think of this (hope the link works)
www.mamasandpapas.com/product-pink-lemonade-6-piece-nursery-pack/7731c8300/type-i/

ValiumQueen · 02/08/2012 13:29

It is lovely, but the bumper will not be safe once baby is able to move/roll, the duvet is not recommended until 1yr, babies get through lots of bedding, so it will rarely coordinate. Do they do bigger size stuff to coordinate with the curtains, will you be happy to pay out more? They will likely discontinue this before you need other sized stuff, then you will be left with curtains that do not quite match. Lovely though Grin

Chunkychicken · 02/08/2012 13:46

Lilliana 65cm is ok if you're under about 5' 7" and 75cm if you're over. Doubt most women would need 85cm ones, unless you're exceptionally tall. Once fully inflated, you should be show to sit up straight, with your feet flat on the floor & your knees parallel or lower than your hips. Argos has a good range, some including pumps, for less than £20.

ShellyBobbs · 02/08/2012 13:54

Lilliana I think the difference between a birthing ball and a gym ball is that the birthing balls are a bit tougher and so won't burst just as you're bouncing on them plus they're probably twice as expensive.

Baby is really kicking and moving around now, likes to give me digs in my ribs frequently and you can really see the movement.

Hubby has threatened to get rid of the cat this morning. We use that frontline every 4 weeks on her, use flea stuff on the carpet but we seem to have another outbreak! Don't really know what to do, I throw the hoover bags after each hoover (costing me a fortune), use fleas stuff on carpets, regularly wash things on a high heat that she sits on etc. Any tips? He said she is going if this carries on because babies are too special to have fleas land on them Grin never mind our other 3 children. Must admit, I am at my wits end with it.

TitsalinaBumSquash · 02/08/2012 13:56

I'm with you Shelly we've spent an obscene amount on flea stuff in the past few weeks. I'm at the point of giving up with them, I don't want the pushchair full of fleas before baby has even been in it, plus they're eating DP alive. :/

ShellyBobbs · 02/08/2012 14:04

Same with my DP, he said he came downstairs this morning, walked in the kitchen and by the time he sat back down on the settee there were 7 fleas on him Shock. I'm going to steam the carpet on Saturday (after I've finished my shift at work) then shampoo it, I know it doesn't get rid of them all but hopefully some with feck off! Then another overnight sprinkling with the useless flea powder again. I know that they are coming from our back garden as they live in the soil and a bush near the back door, I might even chop the thing down yet. I wouldn't mind but the house has NEVER been so clean and tidy, I'm currently hoovering 3 times a day which is really annoying the neighbours but what can you do?
