StuntNun hope your mum is ok now. Good luck with the interview today fx for you, let us know how it goes.

Would like a halloween baby but think that would be a bit too soon for him/her to come. Would like it to be here before December though so it doesn't get caught up in the christmas madness.

We watched the midwives too - suddenly DH seems to be interested in OBEM and anything similar!
Was a sob fest and liked seeing it from the MW pov, but did think the blonde triage midwife was a bit scary - I would have caved and gone home, luckily the woman seemed pretty sure about what was happening and refused and sure enough she was 9 cm when assessed again! I would have been travelling 40 mins home and probably giving birth in a layby on the way back again.

Chunky I am constantly clumsy to the point I'm known as wreaker at school! Is very frustrating though - our poor clover pot has been smashed to bits the number of times I have dropped it.

Caped I'm the same - ofsted and long half term but still going to put the end of 1/2 term as start date as we need the money. If it gets that bad I'll just have to go off early. Just going to see how it goes. Do need to look at dates though as not sure how many weeks pg I'll be, about 37/38 I think.

Help - I got my Mat B1 form today does anyone know what I do with it? School is shut but don't want it to be in late and mess up my mat pay. I'll be 25 weeks on sat and think it has to be in before then - do I send it to county? Don't want to lose it either!!!

ShellyBobbs · 01/08/2012 12:46

kissyfur My first was 6lb 8oz, the second was 8lb and my third was 6lb 8oz too! My lad who is the second is still a chunky thing so totally depends on the baby.

StuntNun Good luck today.

My sister ended up in Saint Mary's when she was born, but was the old hospital, not as posh as the new building on telly last night. Good job I never came across that midwife with the short blonde hair last night, think I may not have been so calm if I was that lady at 9cm Shock

While everyone here is thinking of winding down, I'm having to put in as much overtime as I possibly can, just bagged another 2 shifts at weekend. I'm having to squirrel as much money away as possible as our financial situation has just drastically changed this month and I'm going to have to make up an extra 10 shifts a month to make it up :( So now there is no way I can leave before I'm 38 weeks as I don't even have holidays to tag on (due to using them up for school hols and ill kids!). I can see me giving birth on shift at this rate.

Oh well, after all that moaning I'm off to find the paint brush and get stuck into the boring glossing. I'm actually full of energy again this week and nesting is going very well, even my 7 year old has caught the bug, she washed down all the kitchen walls and cupboards this morning bless her Grin, just hope it works on the other 2 now!

blonder that's very funny!!

ValiumQueen · 01/08/2012 13:14

horsey I did not go via the Lollipop website. Mine are Little Lambs and the linkey is on the old thread or on nappy board on my thread ' anything better than Fuzzis' there was an offer 10 nappies for £35 which is pretty good. Need to pay extra for wraps and I bought boosters too. If you 'like' them on Facebook they will let you know future offers.

Just checked and that page has now gone so looks like offer has ended. I am sure more will come up. There are no doubt better nappies, but they were an excellent price. I particularly like the look of wizard duos and The gen-y wraps look awesome, and can be used with any nappy inner. Such cool prints too, but pricy.

capedcrusader25 · 01/08/2012 13:22

lilliana I handed mine in to the head secretary just before we left and included my letter about mat leave. Ring HR at county today and ask them who to send it to there (keep a copy) and get it sent off. Can you scan your Matb1 onto your comp? If u can I would then email it along with the mat leave letter and info that you've sent it to HR as well to the head secretary/headteacher so at least you have a record that u passed the info over before 25 weeks even if nobody was there to receive it! Hope that helps...x

horseylady · 01/08/2012 13:32

What would you recommend for reusables? I'm vvvvv confused!!

ValiumQueen · 01/08/2012 13:51

In relation to washable nappies, I would advise a similar approach to when you choose a buggy. Different people have different needs, expectations, and budget. Most folk will say theirs is best, but may not necessarily suit you, plus the baby may decide they do not like it, or it just does not suit them. Both my girls are extremely heavy wetters, for example, and some babies have skinny or chubby thighs, long bodies etc.

If possible go to a real nappy event, sometimes called nappichino or something equally twee. It is good to be able to see and feel them, and talk to other mummies about their experiences.

There are reviews on MN and elsewhere on the Internet. Read as many as you can, plus have a look at the nappy board. There are Facebook groups and other online communities dedicated to the things.

The nappy lady is a particularly well respected website, and she will advise you personally.

Check with your local council as they may do incentive schemes or trials.

Consider having a 'trial' of nappies, effectively a short term hire. Various companies offer these.

Consider buying a variety of pre-loved (pre-shat) nappies on eBay, although check they are not actually cheaper to buy new. I would encourage you NOT to buy a birth to potty kit unless you are absolutely sure they suit you and your baby.

I would not encourage use of washables until meconium is gone, and you are getting somewhere with feeding. Do not let it add to your stress. It should be fun, and is very addictive Grin

horseylady · 01/08/2012 13:58

Ok yeah I've looked into that there is a local(ish) lady and the council etc do trials and money back so will look into it more when baby is here rather than buying now. Have bought disposables anyway so I'll stop trying to read through all the info!!

NervousAt20 · 01/08/2012 14:09

Good luck today stuntnun hope everything goes well!

Started building nursery furniture last night and the room is starting to come together so well, it's so nice to walk past and see it. Aug already! I can't believe we've been on here since feb/march time!

Chunkychicken · 01/08/2012 14:25

Lilliana glad I'm not the only one!! Felt thoroughly miserable last night at my ineptitude!! Not sure what you should do about the MATB1 as we're an academy & our office staff tend to work holidays too, so I could get it sorted now if I hadn't done it BUT Caped's suggestions seem like a good idea - if you have made every effort to provide the official info, then they can hardly blame you if your MW appt/school hols clash/aren't convenient.

Been swimming, now EXHAUSTED. Feel pathetic!!

We have the internet!!! Grin Grin

NervousAt20 · 01/08/2012 14:26

Did the swimming make up for missing yoga chunky? Smile

Lilliana · 01/08/2012 14:40

Thanks Chunky and Caped, have phoned payroll who sent me a letter about mat leave and they were lovely, said they didn't penalise people for being a bit late, it was just so they had time to get paperwork sorted. Have sent forms to them and got copies for my head. Also emailed all the info to head (don't have a scanner) so he knows what is going on. Think all should be ok. Also realised my first a-n class is the first morning back so had to ask for that off too!

Shelly it sounds like you are flat out :( Make sure you look after yourself too. Grin at your little girl, can I borrow her?!

When will I start nesting? Can't wait to have a tidy house but no desperate need to clean will come.

horseylady · 01/08/2012 14:49

Lillianna I've started lol!!! Seriously no idea what's wrong with me!! I'm the worlds most untidy person dh is not much better but I keep trying to sort the house out!!

Think I'll go back to work tomorrow. No where near 100% but bored and getting better!!

horseylady · 01/08/2012 14:54

I've just bought a photo shoot from group on for baby taken new born, 6 months and 12 months. Each shot you get 5 pictures (same shot but parents sister etc will love!) for £39!!! I know people who've ordered family shots with this company and really rated them. I can add bump shot for £25 which I might do just to check them out!!

Being off work is bad. I spend money!!

Chunkychicken · 01/08/2012 14:55

Nervous feel a bit more flexible but as its more of a 'fun pool' & the waves almost drowned me, I think I would have found the yoga/relaxation class a bit more, well, relaxing Grin

GTbaby · 01/08/2012 14:58

Lilliana I gave mine in before the holidays as MW had given me it and I was worried as we are turning into an academy over the summer and didn't know what effect it would have.

I second what cap says and I would scan MatB/photocopy. send to LEA [call them first to confirm who this should go to] AND send to the head/his PA.
if you can not scan the Matb then send an email to head and his PA stating you have sent the form to them and the LEA.

fatima i have that voucher! I'm rubbish with these things, i forget i have them. but Boots price is not 130 for jut the seat, kiddicare is £99. so think i will get it from there, need to convince DH that we should order it as soon as possible as otherwise we are missing out on offers.

although mothercare will price match so i think that DH wants to get everything in once place as it will be easier.

saw a movement/sound angle care monitor yesterday for £80 that i want, glad DH agreed to buy that as obviously you can get just sound ones for alot cheaper, but the movement element jut makes me feel a little better.

GTbaby · 01/08/2012 15:04

opps, sry Lilliana xposted.

glad all is sorted!

ValiumQueen · 01/08/2012 15:29

Blueberry wraps are lush too.

FatimaLovesBread · 01/08/2012 15:48

GTbaby Yes I noticed that. When I looked originally it was £130 on boots so I was going to get it from John Lewis. But them when I ordered it they had it at £104.99 which with the voucher made it £83.99. It wasn't on offer, they'd just changed the price. That was two weeks ago and the price has gone back up but in the last few months it's gone up and down quite a lot. Suppose it depends how quickly you want it. I just kept my eye out or the cheapest price.

I'm now doing that with the easy fix base, waiting until someone has it on offer and then I'll order it Smile

I've managed to accrue 5000 boots points since the beginning of this year so not too bad.

Paddocks1 · 01/08/2012 16:08

Into 6th month...:-)

daisychain76 · 01/08/2012 16:44

valium with the Little Lambs, why do you get two loose insert bits in the inside of the nappy? I was expecting one which I assume is the liner, but the other one has confused me?!

I only saw the 2nd half of the midwives programme but it freaked me out - I think the best bit about giving birth is that you don't actually see it happen iyswim. I am very squeamish and was horrified when the MW suggested I might like to touch DD's head as it was emerging last time.

ValiumQueen · 01/08/2012 17:01

daisy I am guessing you have size 1 nappies. There will be a booster, and a liner. The booster will be in the material the same as the nappy, and the liner will be a fleece material. With small babies, they do not need the booster, and including it would make the nappy very bulky on a little bum. You would just put the liner on the nappy so it is the surface nearest the baby's skin. It wicks the moisture away, and helps contain poop. As baby grows, the booster is inserted between the nappy and the liner, folded over and placed at the front if a boy. Size 2 nappies have the boosters sewn in, and I bought extra as mine is ha heavy wetter.

Just bought a blueberry cow print wrap from the nappy lady. Oops.

misslaughalot · 01/08/2012 17:09

Ooh, I've finally ordered a dress for this wedding we're off to next month. I liked the one I'd seen at New Look before but have decided to choose one that was full length so I don't have to worry about 'leg maintenance' too much (I'm already finding it hard to cut my toenails!)

It's here if anyone's interested.

Going to start doing some proper nappy research too after all your useful conversations...love the thought of reusables (I think I'm quite a retro girl at heart) but want to know all I can before making a decision.

DesperateHousewife21 · 01/08/2012 17:16

I like that dress v much! Hope you have a good time, I've got a christening at the end of oct and I'm going to be godparent so will have everyone watching me!
It's going to come round so quick too.
