'one' not 'on' !

applepieinthesky · 31/07/2012 17:21

I?m just typing up my letter to my employer confirming when I?m starting maternity leave. I guess this is actually happening Smile

ValiumQueen · 31/07/2012 17:22

The tyres being flat will make a world of difference. Perhaps you have a slow puncture? You can get goo to put in them which helps them stay inflated. Do you plan to use it with your new baby?

FatimaLovesBread · 31/07/2012 17:23

VQ I mean the points I got from buying it. It was £83.99 after the voucher code but there was a points offer on so I got 1900 points. So £19 to spend in something else baby related (or perfume for me) Grin

ValiumQueen · 31/07/2012 17:23

Perhaps the lovely people in Halfords could advise you?

kissyfur · 31/07/2012 17:24

Right think I got the wrong FB group 1st time around, hopefully you got my message Dh21 Smile

ValiumQueen · 31/07/2012 17:25

fatima I see. I have never done Boots points. Perhaps I should. That is a good price even before the points.

FatimaLovesBread · 31/07/2012 17:26

We've just discovered that DH won't be eligible for paternity leave. He chars jobs just after I found out I was pregnant and you have to have been with the same employer since the week before getting pregnant Sad

He moved jobs as they ha lots of work and overtime so we thought he could work lots and save but he's hardly been given any overtime since he started. Plus the fact it's twice the distance to travel so he's losing more on petrol. And now this. Think he wishes he'd never moved

FatimaLovesBread · 31/07/2012 17:31

VQ Definately get the advantage card. If you join the parenting club it's ten points per pound, but if there's an offer such as triple points (normal points is 4 per pound) then they give you the 10 plus the additional 8.

We've found quite a lot of things are cheaper on boots.com anyway before you even take into accout points you get in return. Plus they often have offers such as 3 for 2 on everything, including cots, pushchairs etc

I now have £50 of points to treat myself to some Chanel perfume Grin

ValiumQueen · 31/07/2012 17:32

fatima neither will mine. I think he can still take unpaid leave though? You made the best decision you could with the information available at the time. Hopefully things will pick up for him.

DesperateHousewife21 · 31/07/2012 17:47

fatima I didn't even know asda sold that buggy. I'm not buying it til about oct time so will keep an eye on both prices.

Chunkychicken · 31/07/2012 18:14

I'm feeling very, very fortunate that being a teacher & DH being a civil servant, we are both quite secure & get quite good packages. I cannot imagine how stressful & worrying all these issues about your job/leave/paternity money are. So sorry.

I have always used Pampers with DD, as they seemed to fit best (huggies just seemed the wrong shape) and Asda ones made her sore in the early days. I tried the Sainsburys version of activ fit, which are really good & cheaper, but DD is a tricky size now & we're trying pull-ups. I will probably get the huggies starter pack, Pampers newborn & some aldi ones to try out on this LO as every bum is different... Might try to use reusables at home & disposables out & about, so we can reduce the impact on the environment without being a PITA washing-wise. But that might not be economically viable, if it costs loads for reusables iyswim.

Welcome allchange. Hope you are well.

I'm 24+1 today & realised last night that a friend of ours wasn't much more than this when they had their DD. Can't imagine how hard/weird that would be!!!

capedcrusader25 · 31/07/2012 18:19

I'm a day in front of apple (although I'm pretty certain this one won't make an appearance until the very end of November) and I'll be 6 months next Thursday by valium's calculations, exciting! :o
You're right about the Boots points too, I found that out the other day. Very annoying!
I wish we had the pennies to spend on the more luxurious prams :( They all look lovely though!
Having a mad moment, DP's sister has passed on her moses basket, our nephew was born in January and was only in it 4 weeks the monster! His Mum has kindly washed it all but can't figure out to put the bloody thing up now! As in attach the hood bit, etc. It should be simple but my pregnant brain has neither the patience or it seems the ability to do it Angry
StuntNun that sounds like a horrible situation....but also a wee bit dodgy?? I don't want to be all cynical and conspiracy theorist-like but after so much positive it seems odd they now are saying they don't require your services at all!?
Welcome allchange :) hope you are well!

horseylady · 31/07/2012 18:21

Vq 37 weeks this week omg it's going so fast!! Sainsburies had buy one get one free on huggies so I bought some more.

Still feel shocking but did go to dentist today!

Would it be wrong to text the people who have my pony to say shell be going when they're on holiday? I just can't talk and don't feel like a massive conversation nor have the energy. They should be expecting it. I just don't know when I'll feel better or shall I wait for the weekend?

StuntNun · 31/07/2012 18:28

Lilliana my mum had that bug too, it sounds dreadful.

On the job front I got my application form in today and my interview is tomorrow so I'll know on Thursday whether I get the alternative position. If I do I'll just keep going as normal, it'll only be if I'm still to be made redundant that I'll get in touch with Labour Relations and find out whether I have a case. I suspect that I will have, for example only being given 22 hours to get my job applications in for the alternative positions. Actually I spent the first 16 hours of that time either crying or asleep so I ended up only having time to fill in one application form (they wanted 1000 words so it took a while to write it.)

On the baby front, James (or as DH says 'wee Jimmy') has been going a bit mad since dinner, I think he likes Chinese food. Is it true that the flavour of the amniotic fluid changes depending on what you have been eating?

I used Excel to work out the days exactly two-thirds of the way through the pregnancy and that gives the third trimester as somewhere between 26 weeks and 27 weeks. I'm 26 weeks on Thursday so I'll claim to be six months pregnant at the weekend.

Passmethecrisps · 31/07/2012 18:46

I am 26 weeks tomorrow. Can't quite get over it! I was 21 weeks when school ended with little bump to speak of. When I go back I will be enormous! The kids will wonder what has happened. So am I six months pregnant tomorrow or next week? What is it about being 6 months? It just sounds properely pregnant to me. Time really is flying.

Good luck with the interview stunt make sure you keep us posted on the outcome. When are they likely to tell you? I hope it is fast - nothing worse than being kept hanging on.

I made oatmeal coated fish for tea but couldn't finish it. I shared it with the cat and it is now all over the floor. Just made a rod for my back there really.

horsey if I could communicate only by text message then I would! I see nothing wrong with a text to explain the situation. I really hope you feel better soon.

horseylady · 31/07/2012 18:47

Stunt apparently it does change? According to the books anyway!!

Been reading the boots stuff and magazine it's quite interesting. Just another card to remember to hand over!!

ValiumQueen · 31/07/2012 19:08

26 weeks is 6 months.
Third trimester is from 27weeks as pg is 40 weeks which is 9 mths and 1 week.

Nappies look very cute on DD but it was like fighting an octopus putting it on. Fuzzis are easier! She says she likes them and has not tried to take them off. Hope they do not leak.

ValiumQueen · 31/07/2012 19:10

She is walking like she has just got off a horse though Grin

Evilwater · 31/07/2012 19:48

A shiney new thread!
I'm 28 weeks and 3 days, so I have my midwife appointment today. Eveything is fine. She took bloods today, and I felt light headed afterwards.

I've got my anti d booked for Friday, not really looking forward to that. I'm not a great fan of needles, and it's intermuslar. Oh yay, :(

The midwife gave me a tape measure, to keep. Something to do with measureing the bump.

Also the midwives say please read the leaflets, that I got at 8 weeks. Proplem is I think I threw them out. Oopps. I have to book a appointment with the GP, next.

Evil

ValiumQueen · 31/07/2012 20:23

I keep forgetting you are a couple of weeks ahead evil if you go overdue I still may be the first to pop (or be popped) except the lady who is practically due (dreadful with names) or any premmies (hope not)

Sophiathesnowfairy · 31/07/2012 20:24

I'm here!

ValiumQueen · 31/07/2012 20:26

Hi sophia how are you?

kissyfur · 31/07/2012 20:28

Thanks for your message DH21 Smile

Does anyone else feel like they are fighting a losing battle with housework?! I just can't keep on top of it, I seem to spend all my time after work cleaning/tidying/washing up and by the time I've made dinner, bathed DD and got her into bed I am just too knackered to do anything but sit on the sofa go on MN

God knows what it'll be like when I've got another LO to look after!

Also would love it if DP would make the dinner once in a while, he's been off today while I've been at work and still no offer to make the dinner from him. I wouldn't mind so much but he is a trained chef!

ValiumQueen · 31/07/2012 20:42

kissy my mate is married to a cook, and he never cooks either Grin yes, I gave up worrying about housework a few weeks back. So long as the toilets and kitchen are hygienic, and the kids have clean clothes, nothing else really matters. Obviously I feed them too, before HQ get onto social services...
