Mine used to spray in the shower too, and leak in the bath. Delightful. DH also very entertained by spraying at other moments too Blush

I've got an app on mon I'll be 25+6 or 26 weeks depending on which mw I have!
I don't know what it'll be after that though.

I'm looking forward to my scan in 10 days Grin

ValiumQueen · 08/08/2012 17:03

I had forgotten about the shower! Yes, you never quite get rid of the milky smell.

applepieinthesky · 08/08/2012 17:12

I thought third trimester starts at 27 weeks but it seems to depend which website you consult.

My last midwife appointment was at 23 weeks and next one is not until 31 I think which seems quite long. It?s my first pregnancy as well.

Had an amazing day at the Olympics yesterday watching the artistic gymnastics. There were no Brits competing unfortunately but it was still a fabulous atmosphere and everything was so well organised, we were pleasantly surprised. The roads were quiet and we managed to drive right to the o2 and park outside.

I came back to work today after four days off and was dreading it. However, I?ve come back to the news that I?m getting another pay rise. The second in a month Grin They have found someone to cover me when I?m on maternity leave but she can?t start until three weeks before I leave. So to reflect the huge amount of work I will have to do teaching her to do my job in such a short space of time and as an incentive to come back to work after my mat leave they are increasing my salary. So not a bad day back!

I?m so jealous you?ve got another scan DH I won?t see my little boy again now until he?s born Sad

DesperateHousewife21 · 08/08/2012 17:18

apple I've got 3 more scans! I'm really pleased because I seem quite anxious this time round and want to know everything is ok.

I think of the second tri finishing in week 27 and third tri starting at week 28.

ValiumQueen · 08/08/2012 17:25

apple are you shagging your boss? Grin

Dixiebell · 08/08/2012 17:50

pass, definitely colostrum. I don't leak in pregnancy but do have a bit of yellow crusty stuff on my nipples (sorry!), which I realised was colostrum only after DS was born! Also barely leaked while bfing with him except once or twice overnight when he first started sleeping through. I certainly never needed breast pads, which was glad of as I tried once and found them v itchy! BFed for 15 months last time, I really loved it after tge first few quite stressful days when he took a while to work it out. I'd be v disappointed if I couldn't do it this time, apart from anything it's just do convenient! I'm worried if I ended up having a c-sect it woukdn't work but not sure if this is the case, have others BFed ok after C sect?

Dixiebell · 08/08/2012 17:52

Btw highly recommend Lansinoh nipple cream for sore nips while bfing! Only needed it for first few weeks but it's like miracle cream. :)

kissyfur · 08/08/2012 17:55

dixie I bf'd my DD for 14 months and I had a c-section, took a while to get established but I think that's pretty normal?

ShellyBobbs · 08/08/2012 17:56

I've got a steam cleaner, have had it for a few years now and it's fantastic and would highly recommend to anyone and everyone. It really is a Jack of all trades in our house.

My mum has OCD with cleaning and it really, really made mine and my brother and sisters life a total and utter misery :( Unfortunately unlike people on here, she acknowledges she has it but WILL NOT do anything about it, it really did ruin a lot of things for us when we were younger and all 4 of us were up and out of there as soon as was humanly possible. Again unfortunately for her she doesn't have the kind of grandma/grandchild relationship with any of her 6 grandchildren because cleaning still comes above anything and we (my siblings and myself) just don't bother going round anymore with our children and she is just too busy cleaning to have any kind of a life. Anyway, that's the other side of it so I'm very glad that you have all your strategies in place and are using them, it's VERY important that you keep them up and keep yourselves in check (I promise I'm not preaching at you).

Waiting Could you get the pattern for the sling off your friend and send to me if you don't mind? I know it's cheeky but MIL is a dab hand on the sewing machine and she likes to keep busy Grin I've just not seen one that I like anywhere and I could make a few with some lovely material.

I remember with my first, walking around the Trafford Centre with my sling on, tit out and baby stuck to the end of it! It was the only way to keep her quiet as she was on the end of them until being 12 months old! It was a blessing. Couldn't use one with the next as he was just a massive chunkster and as soon as he went in it I just felt pregnant and got back ache straight away with him. Used one for ages with my third as she was a tiny little bird and was much easier than using a pram.

Yellow I'm going to get some of those individual eyelashes right at the end as well as a damn good cut and blow so your lip balm isn't so daft. The reason being that I just know I'll be living in my PJ's for the fortnight following the birth and will feel like a right minger, so ANYTHING at all that make any difference to how I look will be welcome. Just a shame it's winter, I would have lived in the garden if it was earlier in the year to get some sort of tan.

ValiumQueen · 08/08/2012 18:17

CS is no reason not to feed. Yes you will be sore and the hormones take a bit longer to act, but my milk actually came in sooner than it did after my first delivery.

One of my colleagues had a brazilian, full leg wax, hair cut and colour, spray tan etc before her labour. Talk about high maintenance.

StuntNun · 08/08/2012 18:20

Dixie if you're planning to breastfeed then put into your birth plan that you want skin to skin contact as soon as possible after the baby's born, even if you have had a section. Some people also want the weighing to be done after the first breastfeed. Then get as much skin to skin contact as you can in the first few days, it stimulates the baby's reflexes to search for the nipple and to latch on.

Valium I'm the sort of woman who is currently waiting for the local college to re-open in September so that I can have a trim for a fiver, so it will be a treat for me to have a proper 'do' Grin.

Have made myself the most gorgeous tea. Past with blended vine tomatoes, creme freche and fresh chives served cold, yummy yummy!

ValiumQueen · 08/08/2012 18:52

Sounds good shelley the food and the hair cut. I also go to college for mine and DD1.

ShellyBobbs · 08/08/2012 19:11

I laugh when I've been there. Last time I got a cut, blow and a Vidal Sasoon (?) super conditioning treatment for a fiver as the treatment was free, plus tea and biscuits. No competition really. They also do beauty treatments but that really isn't for me!

I feel sick now, had 2 big bowlfuls of my tea Envy

I'm still full of energy! Have scrubbed all the windows to a shine, shampoo'd the carpet, been shopping and wiped down all the woodwork today as well as entertaining a house full of my daughters friends. If this lasts just another 4 weeks then I'll be happy, I'll be able to get lots of overtime in (got an extra 24 hours in last week) and complete my list of things to do. The trouble with this nesting thing is that mine has gone WAY beyond cleaning, I've decided today that at weekend I'm going to sand the shed down and re-varnish it wtf Shock, I've never given a flying fig about the shed before but now feel a bit sorry for it!

DesperateHousewife21 · 08/08/2012 19:13

I feel SO bloated and sick. Halfway through dinner I had to give up, usually I clear my plate.

Glad I'm seeing mw on mon I can have a good old moan!

ValiumQueen · 08/08/2012 19:27

Cor that ghost thread is getting a bit hot! yellowWellies are you related to yellow raincoat?

TitsalinaBumSquash · 08/08/2012 19:47

Evening ladies. I'm sitting here being all cross at DP at the second. He was meant to be making the effort to spend a bit more time with me this week after me feeling a bit neglected with his work/computer stuff.
Monday we were out with his family
For dinner until v.late, yesterday he was at the gym, tonight he went to take BIL home and has been gone 2 nearly 3 hrs, I'm feeling somewhat cheated!

Anyway, all ok here, still sore from the SPD although I made my "urgent" physio apt it's not until September.
The house is fully cleared out of all rubbish now so we I can erect the cot.
Still not got round to booking the 4D scan
or attempting to look for cars.
Little squirt is as active as ever, he responds to pokes with a swift kick Grin

I hope all is well with you and your bumps. :)

kissyfur · 08/08/2012 19:59

valium the ghost thread is getting very angry! I was enjoying the stories but now it's been hijacked by some rather cross types. Shame really

ValiumQueen · 08/08/2012 20:02

It is a shame. Interesting though. Very angry people, being very rude. I love Mumsnet! Grin

Evilwater · 08/08/2012 20:08

No leakage from my breasts yet!
I'm off to work in 5 mins, It is nice to see things going good for a while for most of us.

Tina I hope your DP bucks up soon.

I'm off to London to see the Olympic football on Friday, and I will be staying in London for the weekend.

As for midwife appointments I saw my midwife at 28 weeks, then the next one is 34. However I had my anti d at 30 and I have to see the GP at 31 weeks, but that's because I'm a first time mum.

Right it's off to the night shift!

Chunkychicken · 08/08/2012 20:10

Baby has been making up for her quiet day today. I got kicked all through dinner - most disturbing feeling your stomach being kicked as you're eating!!

Have decided to admit defeat to DH & accept s/he is a girl... He might still be wrong but feel happier almost to have 'gone' for one or the other. I haven't really got a firm idea for myself but I think that's mainly because I don't want to be wrong/disappointed/shocked when baby is born. However, its nicer saying 'she' & 'her' than 'baby' or 'its'. Almost wishing we hadn't stayed in the yellow camp...

Sounds like everyone is really busy making preparations!! I feel like I'm starting too, but until we can decorate the nursery, there isn't anything big I can get done. I might pack a hospital bag soon though, despite planning a homebirth, because if things go tits up, I don't want to be thinking about stuff like that.

Am asking for some nice maternity/breastfeeding pjs because I want people to look after me a bit after baby arrives & figure staying in my jammies will help that Grin

I started leaking with DD at 20wks pg and spent much of my time breastfeeding her leaking, although I was never a shoot-it-across-the-room type, just bathed in it, hence using breast shells to collect the leakage when feeding her (otherwise I'd need multiple breast pads per feed, and reusables were bloody useless!!!). Feeling lucky only to have had one or two drips this time, as well as the 'crustiness' mentioned upthread, but have breast pads on standby...

Haven't had my hair cut for AGES. Will be attempting to look slightly more presentable for the post-birth photos this time around. I looked like I'd gone 10 rounds with Tyson last time!! Blush

TheDetective · 08/08/2012 20:24

VQ No offence taken, its the exact reason why I did my training Grin

My community midwife with DS said to me 'you'll cut your baby's head off' in reference to me wearing my pre-pregnancy jeans. They fit me. Jealous old trout.

I vowed to never be such a dickhead Grin

I have burnt tits. Fabulous.

Busy day had here, but lots of fun :) I do like the nice weather, on my days off! Took DS, my mum, mums husbands grandson, and our dog for a walk and a picnic to a lake. The dog hasn't been to a lake before. She went insane. She loved it Grin and swam and swam and swam for hours considering she hates rain I think she has a cheek! She is now wandering round the house, but normally she is usually lazy, I think the swim has done her the world of good! She has a new lease of life! We got her at the end of last year from a rescue, and she was hugely overweight. She has now lost all that weight, and this is the first summer we have had her to be able to take her to fun places! I did worry about her going too far out in the water though! It'd of been me that had to swim to get her!!

After that, and a 3 mile walk in flip flops through mud thanks to my mum we got home and as my arse hit the sofa, DP's mum arrived with her grandson!! Ended up walking to the park with the kids on bikes. I still have DP's nephew here, DP's mum went home 2 hours ago! We've just had a sausage casserole thanks to DP, and once tea has gone down we are going to play games.

I'm looking forward to mat. leave for more of this Grin work just takes up too much time it seems!
